Mane/Tail:  Golden Blonde.  Tends to wear farm hats and wool knit caps in winter.

Physique:   Muscular and we'll built do to working on a tomato farm and merchant ships all his life.

Residence:  Ponyville.  Has returned to run family farm after serving in the Merchant Navy for several years.

Occupation:   Tomato farmer and former sailor.

Cutie Mark: His cutie Mark appears as three large grey boulders rolling down hill.  Boulder Dash got his cutie Mark as a young teen while clearing trees with his father to expand their tomato fields.  As they were clearing trees, one of them came down upon his father.  Acting fast, Boulder Dash charged forward at a powerful speed and slammed his head into the downing tree, knocking it over the other side.  He not only saved his father's life, but also earned his cutie Mark the same day.

Unique Traits:  Boulder Dash's unique ability is his raw strength and power, not to mention a very very VERY thick skull.  Years as a farmer coupled with his time at sea has made Boulder Dash incredibly strong and when he stamps his hoof and builds up  speed.....LOOK OUT!  Anything in his path will either be knocked aside or he will smash right through it like out of control boulders in a rock slide.  When he stamps his hoofs and snorts loudly like a train engine, even minotaurs and buffalo won't want to butt skulls with him.  But don't worry as he always finds a way to "land on his head." 

 

History: Boulder Dash was born on a tomato farm just outside Ponyville called "Boulder Tomato Ranch" known for both their large Tomatoes, produce, and of course famous Fried Green Tomato sandwiches.  The farm had been in his father's family for years and although Sweet Apple Acres is more well known and popular, the Boulder and Apple families have been friends and traders for years; trading soil, produce, and farming techniques for Generations.  As the eldest son Boulder Dash was raised to follow in the family hoof steps, and was raised as a farmer like his father.  As such he had only a basic education, being pulled from school after elementary to work full time on the farm.  While clearing fields one day, he earned his cutie mark by saving his father from a falling tree.  Though he some times wondered what a further education could have gotten him, Boulder Dash none the less learned the value of hard work, family, and commitment by working on the farm to support his parents and little brother.  However a bad harvest one year put the Boulder Family in tough straits do to a parasite outbreak ruining the crop that year. 

 

Though they received help from both their neighbors the Apples and the residents of Ponyville, Boulder Dash's father became desperate.  In an attempt to save the farm, he borrowed money from Filthy Rich and had to find a way to pay back the loan.  Tragically he would not live to see it happen, he died in an accident following an argument with Boulder Dash over the loan terms.  The family was heart broken, Boulder Dash even more so blaming himself for the accident.  Though his mother and little brother said he was not to blame Boulder Dash was now responsible for the payment of the loan.  Wanting to do right by his family and pay his dues, Boulder Dash made the difficult choice to enlist in the Merchant Navy and send all money he made to his mother to pay the loan.  Though sad to see her son go, his mother understood and supported his choice, but Boulder Dash's little brother was mad to see him leave, believing he was running away from his duties on the farm.  

 

His time in the Merchant Navy was good for Boulder Dash.  He worked a variety of jobs on different ships.  Cook, ship wright, helmsman, Look out, 2nd Officer, 1st Officer; Boulder Dash did them all head on just as he did with his time on the farm.  At the same time his time at sea helped him cope with his father's passing, and make peace with his death.  As he promised, every bit he made was sent back home to pay off the loan to Filthy Rich.  Finally he was commissioned as a Captain and given command of his own vessel.  The payment for his Captain's voyage allowed him to finally pay off the loan to Filthy Rich, his task done Boulder Dash retired from the Merchant Navy and has returned home to take over the farm and continue the family trade.

 

 

Character Personality:  Boulder Dash can be described as a "Good Ole Country Pony."  Like many stallions raised in the country, Boulder Dash is loyal, honest, head strong, conservative, and most of all a gentlecolt.  He greets everyone with a big smile, a tip of the hat, and one of his famous "Suh" or "Ma'am" and always treats mares with nothing short of respect.  This in turn makes him very popular amongst the mare population of Ponyville who typically swoon at the sight of his blue eyes, blonde mane, and strong physique.  As such Boulder Dash is a loyal friend who can be counted on even in the toughest times.  Wether it's a helping hoof or just a shoulder to cry on, Boulder Dash is there for all his friends and neighbors.  Having been teased as a Colt for having a blank flank Boulder Dash can't stand bullies and always has a soft spot for the "Little pony" trying to get buy in the world, offering help and advice when he can.

Character Summary:  Boulder Dash has just returned from the Merchant Navy, having settled his family's debts, and wanting to take over the family farm.  As such he is adjusting to life in Ponyville again, wanting to make up for lost time.  He still seeks to make peace with his father's death and will need friends to aid him in doing so.  At the same time though his mother is happy to have him back, his brother is still angry at him for leaving as he did, and to properly run the farm will mean coming to terms with his brother's feelings as well.  Finally like most mother's, Mrs. Boulder is pressuring Boulder Dash to settle down and make her a grandmother, something Boulder Dash is shy about doing.
