[Ponyville] Winter Un-Wrapped (Open)

Winter Un-Wraped

Winter had been fairly mild this year in Ponyville. From only trace amounts of snow at one time to the lack of any real subzero temperatures, most ponies took their last winters sleep with the knowledge that tomorrow was going to be a breeze compared to years past.

Among the ponies in town on the last night  of winter was Midnight Oil. Lately it seemed he had found himself in Ponyville for all of the local holidays. The purpose of this trip however was to visit family who had moved to the town. As he lay in bed trying to sleep, he would pull out a book showcasing the traditions of other towns in Equestria. Needless to say, this book did not hold his attention long and he was soon fast asleep.

Moonlight Glitter jogged happily down Ponyville streets late at night in her rather form fitting jogging attire, complete with just the right amount of bagginess around the fetlocks to ensure the eyes didn't stray from what she wanted to show. Who said jogging pants and a nice hoodie couldn't be fashion-forward? It always felt good to get one last good sweat in before bed. She exercised right when she woke up, in the mid-day, and before bed. It was hard to maintain her cheerleader figure with all the food they fed them at the school so she had to ensure she kept in tip top shape. Besides, Miss Rarity wouldn't want a model that didn't look perfect! And Miss Rarity deserved the best.

And so she had maintained her workout schedule all the way through the winter. She didn't much care for the season. Scratch that, this filly hated it. Give her the sandy shoals of a beach or the warmth of a spring breeze as it danced around an orchard any day. Winter had a few days that fit well into her fashion schedule but once you ran out of good style choices- and there weren't that many in the winter- you just ran into the awful cold and dreariness that permeated it. This season had been different though. No great snowfall, no great temperature drop. Sure it was cold but it wasn't deathly cold and there had been far more sunny days than normal. It felt weird but it seemed like the entire winter had been played like the last few days normally would be. Cousin Applejack was livid and nopony seemed to be able to get answers from the Weather Control Bureau in Cloudsdale, but Moonlight wasn't going to complain about such a strong of beautiful nights to close out the worst season of them all.

In time she finished her jogging and returned to the School of Friendship, where quickly took a steam shower, dried off, and threw herself into bed- exhausted yes, but so totally excited to get to spring, the best season of them all!

"Oh my gosh!" The bat filly flitted through the freezing air above Ponyville. It was getting late and her breath was coming out in puffs of steam. Blue gritted her teeth and put on an extra burst of speed. Sure it was cold, sure her wings were freezing, sure she was aching all over from a particular hard workout, but she sure was going to finish this race around Ponyville with a burst of speed!

"Done!" She crossed the imaginary finish line and listened to the crowds roar in her mind. Some day it would all be real. She was going to achieve her goal, she just needed to get a little faster. A little stronger. She could do it!

Blue Bird swooped down to main street and lightly landed on the cobble stones. Her hooves made a merry clop and she trotted her way back to the Friendship School. She was a new student and the school was still taking a little getting used to. That was fine. She could handle it. She'd handled lots of stuff in her life and moving to a new town and going to a new school full of new creatures to meet was just fine with her!

She glimpsed a filly trotting into the school just before her. She hadn't met the pink filly yet but she probably would soon enough! Blue took off her flight goggles and wiped them down on her Wonderbolts hoodie. She never, and she meant never wanted to be seen without that hoodie. Who knew when a true life Wonderbolt might see her! Plus she now went to the school that Rainbow Dash herself taught at! Blue knew she was really lucky!

After a quick shower and a bite to eat the bat filly snuggled down for the night. Tomorrow was a big day! She was going to be part of her first Winter Wrap up!

Oh, winter. The freezing cold snow, the nippy air, the lack of animals roaming about, the jolly holidays, honestly, Sea F. Salt hated it. Besides the holiday part. The winter was something the blue mare couldn't possibly get along with, only because her entire being was made to be in the sunshine, with warm to the touch sand, and animals that chirped happily went she trotted by them. The spring and summer is literally the definition of her. Poor 'ol Finnie just didn't like being cold. Most would ask, "You're a Pegasus, just fly so you don't have to touch the ground." But, the mare could only just hover. Her poor little wings were underdeveloped.

So, she had a right to hate the winter. Of course, she wouldn't outwardly express that emotion. Finnie was a very positive pony. The hippie was only over in Ponyville to see her family, because she missed them dearly, and of course the holidays.

The mare didn't step a hoof outside, knowing that the wrap up was tomorrow. Spring time was near, and the Pegasus was extremely excited. She decided to stay to help around with the town, knowing she's good with animals, she'd probably be wearing that brown vest in the morning. In the mean time, she was sitting in her mom's living room in front of the fire for the last time. A cup of hot cocoa was sitting beside her, her little sister Hyper Drive about to pass out. The little filly muttered in a sleepy breath, "You helpin' out tomorrow, sis?"

The hippie simply nodded, placing her hoof on the rambunctious filly's head. This was one of the few times were Hyper was calm. Finnie really loved her sister.

The little filly looked up at Finnie, smiling. "I'm so glad you're helpin', mate." A yawn. "Though me and my friends have a buckball tournament, I wish I could be with ya' more."

Finnie smiled sweetly at her. "Don't worry lil' dude, we'll get some more time togetha’." There was something about Finnie's accent that calmed Hyper down, though Hyper's calmed Finnie's as well. Hyper's was more squeaky. It was so cute. "You should catch some z's though, mate. Can't be sleepy for your sport, y'know?"

"I know, Fin Fin. I'll fall asleep eventu-" she interrupted her own words with a yawn, and then she was out. Finnie smirked at her little sister and rolled her orange eyes. She placed her little wing around Hyper, and eventually fell asleep too.

Blizzard had made his way back to proper Equestria from the Frozen North. He hated these trips, though the seemed to be needed more often; At least it was winter in the towns and villages for at least another six weeks according to his calendar. Little did he know, a little groundhog in Coudsdale was about to complicate things.

Night had just fallen as Blizzard Blitz reached the outskirts Ponyville. "Hmmm." he mumbled to himself as the snow barley crunched. "Barely an inch...Those weather pegasi are slacking." The unicorn would glare as he looked up into the clouds...or lack there of. Levitating out his personal calendar, he would grin. "Tomorrow's Friday. I think the fillies of Ponyville deserve at least one snow day." With a glow of his horn, a vortex of Nimbostratus Clouds would appear in the sky over Ponyville. "I'd say about a foot should do it. Nice, thick, packing snow." With a slight grin, the unicorn would make his way to his rather small camp near the edge of the Everfree Forest. When the creatures of Ponyville woke up they where sure going to be in for a surprise.

Worried Rainbow by itv-canterlot

Rainbow Dash

Darkness.

What lay in darkness was always something hidden, almost forgotten, and usually kept out of mind. Darkness was where the nagging thoughts always festered and spread like a mold... or perhaps that was just the slice of pizza that lay forgotten in a corner. But then, a glimmer of light! slowly growing larger and larger, as the rainbow mare slid open the door of her closite.

She fluttered partway inside, using her forehooves to move things out of the way "nope... nope... nope... I still have that? ...nope... ah here we go!" she pulled out a hanger containing her wrap-up pegasus uniform and leader armband, taking a moment the shake off any dust that had accumulated over the last year and making sure to sniff it to make sure she had washed it after she'd worn it before... she didn't want a repeat of that incident with the Haywii shirt from the summer. After smell-checking it she smiled and tossed the hanger on her back, taking time to slide the door closed once again, shrouding everything inside in that inky blackness.

She walked over to the mirror and slipped the uniform on, making sure it still fit. Of course she should have done this weeks ago just in case it did need to be altered, but as per usual for the cerulean pegasus, she kept putting it off. It was indeed a little tight, she hadn't accounted for the fact that all her training with the Wonderbolts had indeed caused her to increase in muscle mass in some areas, but it would probably stretch. She'd just have to make sure that she had it fixed the next day --- meaning that next year she'd probably be going through the exact same scenario... some things never change.

But... some things do...

Dash posed in front of the mirror and flashed a winning smile, but it quickly faded as she looked out her window "Things were going so well... everypony was on-task and we were so close to breaking the record for fastest traditional wrapup..." she sighed "this year just wont be the same... we'll probably come in last and Derpy will be found next week in Dodge city or applewood again looking for the birds..." she shook her head "really going to miss that egghead... wrapup just wont feel right without her" after a moment dash's face hardened "No! you cant say things like that! Ponies are counting on you! Twilight or no Twilight, we have to make sure this wrapup goes off without a hitch! We may never see another chance at that record, but we have to atleast give it our best!" She took a deep breath and puffe dup her chest "This year is going to be the best wrapup we had! We know what to do! We'll come out of this as winners!"

She held that pose a few moments before snorting "Who do I think I'm kidding, this is going to be a dissaster... The only good thing is the weather factory's shortage or whatever that gave us so little to wrap up..." she leaned her head against the wall "No, Rainbow, stop that! Stop thinking like that! Remember what Twilight taught you! We need to... to... to..." she spun around and slid down the wall, hooves to her face "I cant even remember! This is going to be a disaster!"

After a few more minutes of worry she pulled herself together and took off her uniform "Disaster or not, I have a job to do and I cant let the others down, we may crash and burn, but we're going to do it awesomely!" she nodded decisively as she laid down in bed knowing that whatever happened, she'd find some way to keep things on track... maybe... with that she clicked off her lamp

Darkness.

Well, this would likely be an interesting experience, if a short one. He’d never been around Ponyville during their wrap-up, so he guessed tomorrow would be the day he got to see what that was like. Probably wouldn’t take too long, with how little snow was out there, but Tiger was willing to help however he could. For now, he was getting a pre-bed workout in in the room he had rented. Wasn’t much, just a local inn, but it worked fine for him. After his workout, he stood fully before falling onto the bed and stretching out. This earth pony was tired, and he needed some sleep before the next day.

The bat pony rolled out of bed before the sun had fully resin over Ponyville. The longer nights where going to be the only thing he was going to miss from winter. He didn’t turn on a single light as he quickly made breakfast using the jar of Zap Apple Jam his patents had in their cupboard.

The vacationing Lunar Guard was well aware of Ponyville’s habit of singing for random reasons and was well prepared to have to belt out a few notes as he opened the door. The shock that he got was one of snow not song. One foot of freshly fallen snow. “This has to be a practical joke, right?” He said aloud to nopony in-particular.

                                                                                              Glitterbanner.png

Moonlight's eyes shot themselves wide open as the first rays of the sun dared to flitter their way across her eyes. Her dreams, as usual, had been odd, complex, and full of possibilities. But sh wasn't here for that. She was here to take in the brilliance of the first day of spring- well, more like the last day of winter but you try telling her that. She rolled out of bed and stretched, throwing off her all-white (with some pink stripes) nightgown. "Finally, time to catch some sun," she said to herself, trying not to wake up her dormmates in the School of Friendship. She didn't mind being the center of attention but the center of somepony's frustration? Ha, she'd pass!

She pulled herself away from her area and trotted towards the window. Ooh, spring! Such an exciting time. With buckball and hoofball and other sports starting up soon that meant the cheerleading squad was bound to get going again, and she had every intention of joining. The Fashion Club was leading the charge on the new school uniforms and she had so many ideas and projects ongoing that she was sure she would strike gold with something. Then she was going to try to convince some of the other girls in school to try to form a singing group because it felt like everycreature in this school had a bitchin' voice and she wasn't about to let that go to waste. All she needed was the warm, warm happy expression of spring to arrive, and that meant that winter...

...was back in force?!

"What the T!" She gasped out loud, backing away from the window out of confusion before rushing back. "There is, like, at least a foot or snow every! Uggh, like, whatever! This isn't right," she seethed before turning her head away from the scene and trotting to her desk in a huff. "I mean, really, like, this is totally bogus. WHy would they schedule such a big storm on Winter Wrap Up? Gag me with a spoon," she muttered as she reached the desk and pulled out a quill and scroll. She tried at first to use her horn to write but that was harder than it looked- it would take her years to get used to horn-writing, uggh. And she didn't have years to express her deeply held frustration. And she also did not know who to direct it to, so she chose the one Professor who might know something. Quill in hoof, she started.

"Professor Rainbow Dash, why the Tartarus do we have a snowstorm on Winter Wrap Up? Don't you have friends that can, like, solve this or something? Or can't you? You always said you were pretty awesome..." She spoke as she wrote quickly, stating her great and immediate distress upon seeing the foot of snow. When she was done she signed, sealed it in an envelope, and then searched for that little gift from Twilight. It was a little scroll carrier that would send the letter to its intended recipient- and when it worked as intended, hopefully come right back. She tapped the top and it vanished. Sighing with as much contentment as she could muster she opened up her closet.

"What winter outfit do I trot out one last time..."

Like most major traditions, Winter Wrap Up in Ponyville had a host of minor traditions following in its wake like ducklings following their mother across the street.  Berry Punch was the proud steward of one such tradition, the morning and evening punches.  Not the kind that left a bruise on your face, of course; the ones that left a sweet taste in your mouth!  When the day arrived, she would wake up early and mix up a huge batch in a cast iron pot and mull it over an open fire; a hot drink for the hard workers in the morning to put a real fire in their belly!  The resulting increase in productivity was quantifiable, hence why Princess Twilight now called "Labor Support" an official team in and of itself!

The evening punch was made from the same juices, but instead chilled in the last of the winter snows.  By the time Winter was wrapped up, most of the ponies in town would have worked up quite a sweat, and a cool drink to quench their thirst was just what they needed!

However, Berry had been wondering if she even ought to heat the morning punch; so little snow had fallen that the work would be finished before noon, and with a warmer-than-usual Winter Wrap Up, hot punch might leave an unpleasantly sticky feeling in the drinkers, rather than an energizing heat.  Still, habit had gotten her out of bed at the same early hour as usual, and one glance out the window was enough to confirm that this year, at least, would not be a good one to break with tradition.

"Oh, bother."  She let out a breath, more out of a sense of the town's collective frustration than her own personal feelings.  Everypony in Ponyville had been looking forward to an easy time this year, but Berry's own tasks wouldn't have been affected all that much.  She still had the same amount of punch to make either way.  So, with a shrug, she closed the window, and went downstairs to fetch the grape, strawberry, and cherry juices, along with a few other "secret ingredients."  "It's punch time!"  She giggled to herself, softly so as not to wake Pinchy.  At least her daughter was young enough to enjoy the snow without thinking it a burden...

Finnie opened her eyes in a sleepy daze, yawning immediately as she stretched her hooves, which felt utterly amazing. A couple of her bones cracked as she briefly looked around her living room, seeing the fireplace was completely off as her body felt cold. The blue Pegasus smoothly pulled herself off the couch, taking in a deep breath to relax her heart and opening her small wings to stretch out once again. Her mom's house was unusually quiet, as she remembered her little sister had woken up earlier that morning for the train. The hippie wished she could've said a good-bye, but she knew in spirit that Hyper wished the same.

The blue Pegasus looked out to see a full ray of sunshine floating through her window, making her smile at the sudden warmth the sun had made. Finnie's smile didn't go away, knowing that she got to help change the seasons in the annual Winter Wrap-Up. Soon it would be warm, the flowers would blossom quickly as they normally did, and the fresh air would smell of the sweet trees and bees.

The mare trotted towards the bathroom. She picked up the hair-brush laying nearby and brushed one motion on her mane and tail, keeping it from getting ratted up. She brushed her teeth, stretched once again to relax her whole body, and headed out the door. The realization of the weather didn't hit her until she focused on the white fleet of snow covering all of town. Fresh snow. It was cold, brilliantly white, and Finnie looked around in confusion. Why in Equestria had there been a whole snow storm covering the town on the day they were supposed to get rid of it?

The Australian mare looked around her surroundings, walking through the snow very slowly to not slip. She could spot snow prints from hooves of different ponies. Finnie decided to follow the tracks like a hound dog, trying to find somepony else who was up with confusion. Finally, she spotted a grey bat pony standing outside in the snow. She wasn't much of a talker, but she was thoroughly confused, and maybe he knew what was going on. "G'day, mate," she said, approaching him with a subtle smile. "I sense somethin's gone wrong here, yeah?"

Spoiler

I decided just to RP as Finnie, it'll be easier for me to react with everypony ^^ I deleted everything with Alizarin.

Blue Bird buzzed out of bed and was ready for the day in the blink of an eye. So so sooooo excited! She had never been part of something like WWU before! It was cool, it was fun, it was traditional! Plus, she'd heard Rainbow Dash was going to be directing the weather team! She just had to get onto that team. Where else would she fit in really? She looked back and buzzed her wings again! She was ready! She was going to impress the Wonderbolt super star and help with wrap up and maybe even make some new friends!

Bluey trotted over and opened the door.

"Holy moley!" She squeaked as she saw the new fallen snow.

That couldn't be right! She rubbed her eyes and pulled her flight goggles over them. Taking to the air her head moved rapidly from side to side taking in all of that snow!

"This is gonna be a biiiig job!" She said to nopony in particular.

It was going to be a huge job and she did wonder why the weather team of Ponyville had let such a huge snow fall right before wrap up day. She did know though that Rainbow Dash could handle it! She could handle anything!

There was a grey bat pony and a light blue pegasus down there! Maybe they knew what was going on. She swooped down.

"Hey hey hey!" She flapped about them. "You guys know what happened...I mean look at all of THIS!" She stretched her arms wide in gesture of the snow. "Where's Rainbow Dash huh?" More flapping about. "Oh, I'm Blue Bird by the way! Or uh, Blue if you'd like!" She finally landed in front of them and smiled broadly. "We've got some work cut out for us huh?"

Rainbow Dash thinking about something by Yetioner

Rainbow Dash

As suprised no pony, Dash had once again overslept. She woke up to the scroll poking her int he face. After trying to swat it away a few times, moaning "cut it out, twi!" she finally woke up enough to realize there was a scroll there poking her in the face. She unrolled it, not noticing as the seal vanished.

At first she just stared at it, it had to be a joke, she must have missed the 'ha ha gotcha!' thats all. she read it again and she got an unsettling feeling in the bottom of her stomach. She carefully slid out from her bed and shuffled to the window, opening it and looking out...

"OH FOR PETES SAKE!!!!"

The whole town no doubt heard her exclamation, it was a wonder that Cloudsdale didn't --- she would have loved for them to! They intentionally made sure that Ponyville would have the worst wrapup in years now that twilight was gone. They were being spiteful that the unicorn prodigy could get ponyville wrapped-up faster than they could! That was the only answer.

Dash quickly threw on her uniform and kicked open the door, leaping off the cloud and spiraling down, taking time to circle wide and make note of all the proverbial damage... this was a disaster!

She finally made her way to the center of town, perching on top of the statue "OK! EVERYPONY KEEP CALM, NO NEED TO GET THE TORCHES AND PITCHFORKS OUT YET!" she announced, in her typical fashion of comically missing the point. "I DONT KNOW WHERE THE OTHER LEADERS ARE, SO FOR NOW I'M TAKING CHARGE!"

Her internal monologue though was far from so certain...:

Oh wow, THATs your big idea? you dont have any clue what your doing!

Yeah, well if somepony doesnt, there's going to be chaos, and the last thing we need is an invitation for discord to show up!

point taken.

She sighed "I none of us were expecting this, things looked so clear and simple last night... but..."

A tune began to float through the air

"I know things are looking dark

This is an unexpected test

But we wont miss our mark!

Because we're gonna be the best!

"Those ponies up there dont know us

Think a little snow'll get us down

They think they'll ruin us

But they dont know this town!

"Its time for us to pull together!

We wont let them pus us around!

Claw, hoof, horn and feather!

Its time for us to stand our ground!

"They think we're softer than the rest

Just because we're small

But we'll push it, we'll show them we're the best!

IT wont be us that will Faaaaaa-aaaaaall!

"Yes! We're the best!

Yes! We're the best!

Yes! we're the best!

"We'll make a stand and prove it to the whole world!

We're the best!"

Dash flashed her winning grin and rose her hoof in a cheer... hoping beyond hope that they'd all join in... if not... well... that was all she could think of right now... and she didn't like having to dodge pitchforks flying through the air...

Tiger stretched himself out as he awoke, rolling out of bed and stretching himself out as he got ready for the day. He paused as he caught sight of something else out the window, slowly approaching and then just staring at it for a second. Huh, that was weird. When had all that snow got there? Didn't seem like it had been around the day before... Oh well, he wasn't gonna let a bit more snow stop him from helping out with cleaning it up, so he shrugged, got ready, and headed out.

The stallion arrived at the center of town just as Rainbow started her song, and kinda enjoyed it actually. He guessed he'd have to get used to random singing around here, so may as well start now. Taking a running start, he leaped up onto part of the statue as well, turning back around to face the crowd as he joined the cheer.

"I'm new 'round here, but I can already tell,

You all are great, so let's give 'em hell!

Dig in our hooves, hold our ground,

We ponies will never back down!"

He went back to Rainbow's chant after adding his little verse there. Namely the "We're the best!" chant. At the same time, he gave the mare a wink.

Berry Punch was stuck where she was for the beginning of the song, cast iron pots being hard to haul on a moment's notice (how did Rarity do that thing with the couches?  She would have to ask the mare next time she went in for a dress.)  But the parade of Ponyvillians had their hoofsteps guided by habit and tradition, bringing them by where she stood, ladle in hoof and cups at the ready.  With a big smile at all her fellow citizens, she handed out the hot punch with a verse on her own lips:

"Here's some hot cups that'll warm your hearts,

To face the fury of fortunes darts!

May this punch give you strength to go,

Clear our streets of all this snow!"

"I'm going, I'm going! Yeash!", a lightly bundled up Wind Walker rolled out of her family cottage. Her parents had determined that they would enjoy one more slightly chilly day together before Winter was finally over. So their only remaining child that lived at home, needed to be out of the house! She could help with the Winter Warm Up! She did before. Although it was less of a hard working member of the team, and more of a student. Good Ol' Rainbow Dash had shown her around the last time. Now she was going to do it for 'realsies' this time. After letting out a annoyed snort to the now very closed door, the filly took to the sky.

The speedy little Pegasus pony made it just in time for the....singing? Oh crap. How did they do it? How did they manage to come up with lyrics so quickly? Thankfully it was Rainbow Dash that was singing. She was the quickest and bravest pony around, but when it came to vocals? Eh. She was a speedy pony.  This was followed by a stallion and then Miss Berry Punch, who had, punch, which she probably mulled. She really wanted to try heated up  Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters, but after the little couch incident at home with their new couch, the very purple and very sugary drink was banned. Well, there was an opening..

"Gotta clean up the sky before it's too late!
Pesky clouds have worn out their stay.
Being smacked up the side will be their fate.
Time for them to go away!"

With that, she punched and kicked away the nearby clouds, letting in a little bit of light. Huzzah!

"Soon the skies will be clear.
Wish these clouds would get a clue."
Spring is almost here.
And move on to a season that is brand new."

Another cloud! And another! Pow! Bam!  Well, she wasn't up to mare standards, but she was doing a good job for being such a little pony.

"Dumb parents kicked me out of bed.
Wanted me to help Ponyville without fuss.
Being outside during this weather is  something I dread.
Can't believe you rhymed 'us' with 'us'.

The little filly playfully stuck her tongue at the blue Pegasus and continued her work.

-Midnight Oil-

The batpony sighed heavily and nodded to the pegasus nearby. “Hm....” forcing a smile, he would look to the young bat pony. “It would appear that way, though I’m sure a foot of snow isn’t much more then what Ponyville cleans up normally, right?” He would take a deep breath, “I’m sure Rainbow Dash would know more. I believe she is the Weather Team leader, correct?”

Midnight would put his hooves to his ears as a very loud remark was heard. “...and I think she may have just found out as well...” There has to be a reason for this late snowfall.”

As the song began, Midnight would try his best not to get involved, though found himself joining in the chorus.

”Yes, We’re the best.

”Yes, We’re the best.

Yes, We’re the best.”

When Rainbow was free, he would have to go over theories with her, but for now...his nose would be drawn to the smell of fresh, warm punch.

Finnie stood next to the dark bat pony, trying to calm her emotions down with the sudden extra work they would have to do. Then, a little blue bat came flying about, who reminded her a lot of her little sister. They probably knew each other, though Finnie wasn't 100% certain. The name Blue Bird rang a bell. "Ehhh, reckon somepony had somethin' to do with this," she simply said, looking around at the snow. "I don't know how many bloody folk would wanna wake up past midnight and shower us with cold, but they've gone walkabout." The mare shrugged, lifting up her hoof to waive it around. "The name's Sea F. Salt. Finnie is preferred, though, mates."

She looked at the grey bat as he talked about Rainbow Dash, a pony Finnie had briefly heard about. One of the hero's of this generation, element of loyalty, and her little sister would non-stop talk about her. Her little sister did want to become a Wonderbolt, so of course Hyper knew about Dash. Finnie's has only told stories though, and honestly forgot she lived in Ponyville. "Hmm," the hippie hummed, and she suddenly heard something loud bust throughout the sky. It sounded like an irritated yelp, so she looked up to see the rainbow maned Pegasus.

Then, a song broke out.

Finnie let the song drag on out, it honestly calmed her body. She swayed to the tune, not questioning the song at all. This was Ponyville, of course they all sprang out onto a song. Finnie totally could have created her own verse to add her own taste into it, but she just stayed in the background, humming the beat as the rest of the folk sang the song.

The hippie looked around to see more ponies coming out to either sing or help along.. or both. She wasn't really interested in anything, but also didn't know what she could do. She couldn't fly very well, and would prefer staying on the ground anyway. She also wasn't strong enough for plowing. Maybe she could find a partner to help wake up animals, or skate over the ice into smaller chunks on the lakes. She didn't want to go through the trouble to find anypony, it was more herself to move through the wind and let nature tell her what to do.

She did end up trotting to where she smelled the sweet warm punch, pretty much following the bat she met before. That's where her senses were telling her to go, she just followed her nose.

Moonlight could hear the song as it filtered through her bedroom window, along with that damnable chill. She wasn't sure what she was hearing about who was to blame but she was totally on whoever's side was the one where they could find somecreature very specific to punish for this because, frankly, it had to be somecreature's awful idea of a prank. She wasn't sure when and where it came to her but as she opened her closet, she found herself singing herself.

"And to think that it had been so easy
To see the end of this breezy, frosty season.
To have this treason unfold,
Without rhyme nor reason, uggh, it was all fool's gold!

Too late though!
Time to survive this snow!
And I? Well honey, I'm gonna be all aglow~"

She opened up the closet- there were a lot of shoes and boots. She found herself rifling through her winter supply, which will still massive was outweighed by her spring and summer collections!
"What to wear in the winter's morning dew?
Maybe the boots with the fur- no, not the right shoe
Uggh, but what else do I have- no time to stew-
Whatever filly, its all tried and true
It isn't even like they'd have a clue, learn to make do.
It's only you!

Yes yes but I'll know, I'll know!
I'll survive the snow, the snow!
With the boots with the fur, aglow, aglow!"

Time for the main ensemble, which she whipped through with her magic.
"Now now, let us not be too hasty now
Wouldn't want to make a mistake, be a cow
But what if I am pulling a snowplow?
Protecting the chest is a nice place to invest,
So why not go forward with this very chic vest?

A piece, there I go, I go!
I'll survive the snow, the snow!
With this vest I will be aglow, aglow!"

She now stepped into her closet, exploring all the options available to her as she spun around in place.
"What about the hat? What about a cape?
What about them? Just keep your curved shape!
The seasonal combo will do the trick?
Just make sure to use the right lipstick~

And look at me- I'm aglow, aglow!
I'll survive the snow, the snow!
With my outfit I will be aglow, aglow!"

She opened the door to the school, and what lay beyond it, with a smile. Then it vanished as she came to a realization.

"...Unless I have to do work.
Then.
It.
Will.
Blow!"

Door shut, and soon she was outside.

Spoiler

In terms of the look, imagine something like this but with a matching vest:

As the unicorn prepared his dinner, his ear would twitch as he could make out a rather loud exclamation from Ponyville. “Guess somepony had a test planned for today,” he said to himself with grin. Little did he know what was really happening in town. Winter Wrap Up had begun.

Blizzard would finish his small meal before he curled up under his old pup tent. To avoid detention, he planned to travel at night and sleep during the day. It was still a good three to four day journey by hoof and magic back to his home in the Frozen North. He had to hope that other then today’s snow, the other towns that he traveled through did not report the unexpected trace amounts of snow he used to cover his tracks. Within a few minutes, the unicorn would be asleep.

Blue Bird smiled as she saw a young pegasus buck some clouds. Now that looked fun! But there was also a delicious smell wafting from down the road. It looked like the nice pegasus Finnie she had met was on her way towards the punch.

Yes it's time to buck some clouds

And roll winter to the brink

But before I get on with the work

I better try that drink

Oh winter's gonna get kicked

And I'll give it my all

Though this snow's real thick

I can here the springtime's call!

The bat pony swooped up and kicked a cloud near Wind Walker and...Rainbow Dash!

For the moment the punch was forgotten though she was sure she'd get back over there! For now though, one of her idols was right there!

She flew up and waved a hoof.

"Hi Rainbow! I'm Blue Bird..." She gave a cloud behind her a hearty kick! "I'm uh, well a big fan!"

She turned to Wind Walker. "Pretty cool to bust clouds with the one and only Rainbow Dash huh?" Funny enough Wind Walker didn't seem all that impressed with the cyan pegasus!

The song seemed to be wrapping up, just as Winter surely would be, in time.  After all, late snowfall or now, the ponies of Ponyville had civic spirit on their side, not to mention Berry Punch's famous punch!

Readying the cups of heated nectar, she hoofed them out to each approaching worker in turn.  The first was a... thestral, aerion?  She could never figure out which of the two she was supposed to use.  Honestly, in her mind, she still thought of them as "batponies."  Not in any negative connotation, mind you!  They always seemed to love her fruity drinks, and that was an excellent reason to esteem them as a tribe, as far as she was concerned.  But what the heck else made sense to call ponies with batlike features, honestly?

"Hey there!  You new in town?  Thought I saw you around last cider season."  She remarked to Midnight, as he received the punch.

Next up was a pegasus, also a new face to her.  "Hello to you too, what team are you on?  Some'll require two cups to get 'em through."  She said to Finnie, with a wink.

Finally came another bat, this time in a more familiar pastel color set.  Berry barely had time to give Blue Bird the cup of punch before he swooped away.  "Of course, some try to tough it out on just one."  She chuckled, returning back to the line.

The blue hippie waited in line patiently, hearing the song was still going on. Surely it would end soon. She wasn't annoyed by it by any means, it was better to think about what the ponies were singing rather than thinking about the large heap of snow that was sitting on the streets. So much snow, it was kind of overwhelming. But, Finnie was generally a calm, cool, collected pony, so she just went with the flow.

She listened on with what the punch pony was saying, Finnie didn't really know her name. She was talking to the bat she met earlier, and as she hoofed over the punch, Finnie trotted up with a small smile. Finnie nodded her head at the simple question, then opened her mouth to speak. "I'm thinkin' the team that wakes up all the animals." She thought for a second, looking at the clouds blankly. She watched a couple pegasi burst through them. "Aw, man. Forgot what it was called. Anyhow, that's what I'm up to. Tryin' to find a partner though."

The mare grabbed one cup of the warm punch, taking a small sip. "Crikey! Two of 'em? I see myself comin' back for seconds." She took a long gulp, tasting the sweet punch with a smile. Suddenly, a familiar blue bat came and swooped by, then was gone in seconds. Finnie shrugged, walking away.

She looked around, seeing lots of pegasi up in the air, but Finnie didn't know what to do next. She normally liked being by herself in situations like these, but she was unfamiliar to how Ponyville wrapped up their winter. Somepony to talk to would be nice. She just wished she knew who would be out helping wake up the animals.

Making up her mind, she wandered off to all the animal's habitats, hopefully running into somepony, or somepony running into her.

Rainbow Dash - uff, nice job by Stabzor

Rainbow Dash

Rainbow let out a sigh of relief. They were still going to fail, but they were going to fail spectacularly and now nopony was going to be upset about it! She hadn't been sure if she could handle the crowd herself without any of her friends to back her up, but it seems that things worked out well enough in the end, her song -as impromptu and bad as it was- seemed to spread and brighten up the spirits of everypony int he town, even some inside their houses it looked like from what dash could see of ponies from their windows.

Hearing a voice behind her, dash turned and let out w winning smile instinctively, not knowing when her name was called if it was going to be a question about what they were supposed to be doing -which she had no idea- or about the extra snow -again no idea- or maybe just somepony improvising a final verse of hte song using her name -thankfully not, she loved the spotlight but she knew so little about how the other teams were supposed to behave she really didn't want to become the new top-of-the-heap leader for wrapup...

Fortunately it was none of those things, it was a fan -something she was always thrilled to see, since all the other wonderbolts loved to brag about theirs (atleast they seemed to be bragging and rubbing it in that dash wasn't as popular... or maybe that was simply dash's ego deflating and her looking to blame anypony but herself...) She turned to the... bat pony? well that's something she didn't see every day "Hi Blue, nice to meet you, love your colors" she smirked a little jokingly "glad to see everypony pitching in and getting things started!" she was nervous, and she was holding it in a death-grip... hopefully it didn't show, though anypony that knew her would realize she was starting to act... less like her self... now that the pressure was really starting to set in...

Like the rest of the ponies, Dash also caught wind of the punch, but unlike the other ponies, she didn't trust it... she knew berry's reputation, and the last thing she needed was some "special" punch causing her wits to leave her even quicker than they were! Where were her friends?! Why was she the only team leader here?!!!?

Tiger shrugged as the song ended, hopping off the statue and heading over to the punch line. Couldn’t really help up in the clouds, so he’d have to stick near the ground. What exactly did that leave though? And what should he be doing? Maybe he should help at the farms, he was sure they could use some strong hooves up there.

“That punch looks good, and I’m sure it tastes it too.” He smiled as he got to the front, looking the mare over a bit before continuing. “Any idea where I should go help out? Never done this here before.”
