A little slice of heaven, Tea and Cocoa stall [Open to Anypony]

Starburst pulls her bee-wings and bee-abdomen off and attempts to comb the marshmallow out of her hair with her hooves. After a minute or two of water, the sugar in her hair begins to dissolve and run into a puddle. She pulls a towel out from below her stand and wraps it into her mane, sitting close to the fire waiting for the dampness in her hair to recede.

It was a rather cold night, and the wet wet rain was doing nothing to keep her warm. Hopefully she would dry off rather quickly sitting by the fire.

"Oh good, it came out. I was worried, marshmallows are awfully sticky and all." She flitted back into the sky to replace the mostly-expended cloud back where she'd found it. Upon returning to find Starburst awfully close to the fire, she panicked again, and dived down to push Starburst away from it.

"Goodness, do be careful! You'll set your mane on fire, that would be far worse than-" She only then noticed how chilled the other pegasus was. "Oh no wonder, you're chilled to the bone. Here, I'm not the best at this, but I can certainly create a bit of wind when I need to. I am a weather pony, after all." She began to circle around Starburst, succeeding at creating a breeze to dry her, but also only making it more chilly as she did so.

The intensity of the breeze pushes inside the fire-pit, putting out the weak flame, leaving nothing in the pit but a few red cinders. Sitting near the cinders warms her, but only slightly.

Quickly the temperature around the fire drops, and the coldness in the air combined with the wind chill and the dampness of her mane causes Starburst to pass out, her body temperature well below the normal temperature for a pony. She shivers visibly, the small towel doing little to halt the onset of hypothermia.

"Oh no!" Tempest began to visibly panic. "Oh no oh no oh no, what did I do?" The little green pegasus was so accustomed to the cold that she didn't understand just how badly she had chilled the other pegasus. "She's fainted! You there!" She turned to yell at Turns again. "Help me get her to the infirmary! Quick-like, there's no telling how long she's got!"

With that, she swooped down to try to pick up Starburst. Tempest was not a particularly strong pony by any stretch of the imagination, and she was smaller than average as well. Still, as her adrenaline surged, she managed to lift the white pegasus unsteadily into the air before Turns could actually get there to help her, and she began to fly towards the tent the nurses had set up.

In order to keep her grip on Starburst, Tempest had to hold the other pegasus quite close to her own body. It served to reinforce just how chilled the unconscious pony really was, and also served to transfer some of Tempest's own body heat to Starburst. "Argh, she's like ice," Tempest yelped, her own teeth beginning to chatter.

"Right, i'll go ahead and tell the nurses to be ready." Turns said his adrenaline already pumping, he quickly sprinted ahead of the two mares and began galloping full speed to were the nurses station was.

It was a little ways across the fairground and it would take the pegasus a few minutes to get there. If i give them an early warning they may be able to help her alot sooner. After all a little early warning helps alot. Turns thought to himself as he rounded the tents and was just a few yards away from the nurses station.

"Nurses quick there are two pegasus on the way, one of them has passed out from the cold!" He exclaimed as he entered the nurses tent. Immediatly the nurses began to prepare blankets and alot of other things that turns did not know off. "Oh please hurry....., I hope she is ok....." Turns said to himself as he nervously paced outside of the nurses tent.

Tempest beat her wings harder, the extra strain serving to heat her up more, counteracting the chill from the unconscious pony she was carrying. Come on Tempest, she thought to herself, you can do this, you managed to drag that giant stormcloud in all by yourself the last time we were short-staffed, this should be nothing. She managed to steady her flight somewhat and picked up speed.

As it turned out, she picked up a little too much speed. She tried to slow down too late as she zipped towards the tent, and she went barreling in. Shifting her weight just in time, she managed to roll underneath Starburst in time to shield her from slamming into the ground, taking the crash herself. "Ow," she said meekly from underneath the other pegasus. She fluttered her wings and flailed briefly, but was too tired to actually push the other pony off, waiting instead for the nurses to lift the unconscious pony off of her.

Once she was free, she stood up and shook herself. She hadn't injured herself in the crash at least. Completely ignoring Turns again, she watched silently as the nurses attempted to warm Starburst back up and revive her.

Turns just stood and watched from the entrance of the tent, he felt a little guilty for scaring the white mare in the first place. Tears began to well up in his eyes as he tried not to think of the worse. After a few minutes he could not watch anymore and instead walked out of the tent and became contempt to sit and wait from the outside. “Please be ok…. please be ok...” he said quietly to himself, trying to be sure that no one else heard him. He was worried sick about the white mare in the tent. “Oh, this can’t be good.”

He hoped that the other mare would at least come out and tell him that she would be alright, but he understood the need for her to be there when starburst woke up.

The nurse quickly transfers Starburst from Tempest's back over to a cot, and begins piling warm blankets on the cot, ontop of the cold pony. She wraps Starburst's wet mane into a hot towel as well, to prevent the cold from worsening. She also quickly sticks a thermometer into her mouth as well, to actively monitor her temperature.

She also helps Tempest up and begins checking the pony for any scuffs, bruises, or bleeding on the little green mare. After a cursory inspection she also escorts Tempest over to a cot as well. She finds a particularly nasty fracture in one of Tempest's wings, and quickly wraps the wing into a splint, to keep the bone straight so it can set. She frowns a little at the recklessness of the mare, but also understands what prompted her to take such a risk, her frown twisting into a motherly smile.

"You should be a bit more careful next time. It's just a small case of hypothermia, your friend is going to be fine. Your own injury is more substantial. You shouldn't put any weight on the wing and should keep from flying in most cases or else the fractured bone in your wing wont set properly," The nurse says. She picks up a syringe and squirts a little of the liquid inside out, gently inserting the needle into the intersection between Tempest's wing and body while pushing on the plunger. The numbing agent flows through the wing and through part of the left side of Tempest's body, as her left hooves lose their feeling it creates a pins and needles feeling in the extremities.

"But you should both get some rest. By the time you wake up Nightmare night will be over, and everypony will be heading back home, so if there's something you wanted to buy, I suggest you get your friend outside to buy it for you." she says.

"I... wha?" Tempest hadn't even noticed the pain in her wing until the nurse had mentioned it thanks to the adrenaline. "Fractured bone? No flying?" She went limp and sat there blankly. How was she going to get home? She felt rather faint, though whether that was from the sudden shock or the anesthetic she wasn't sure.

"Oh horseapples!" She swore angrily. How could she have been so careless? She knew better than this. The added mass from the other pony meant she should have slowed down sooner. She was lucky she'd only hurt herself, and not further injured the poor unconscious pegasus.

It took her a moment to register the nurse's last words. Her friend? She didn't even know his name. Well, that would have to change, at least. She yelled in his direction, her tone no less authoritarian than before she was injured. "You there, the pink stallion stallion from before. Come on in." She didn't even wait for him to approach before continuing. "It appears that we may both be taken out for some time. Miss Starburst is likely going to require assistance in dismantling her stall when she comes to, if you don't mind waiting until then. Oh, and my name is Tempest Rime, what is yours?"

Turns slowly trotted inside the tent. He was careful not to bump into anything. As he let the words the green mare spoke set in, he realized she said they both would be down for a little while. “Oh Mrs. Rime are you hurt too,” this made turns feel even worse. “My name is Turn Table, I’m glad to have met you. I just wish it was under better circumstances.” Turns glanced back over to the still unconscious mare. “I don’t mind waiting I still have a few days till I’ll be needed at the club again so, no I don’t mind at all.” He smiled back at the Tempest Rime, "Is is ok if i stay here, just so im here if i am needed?"

Tempest sighed in irritation, though it was directed more towards herself than Turns. "Yes, I was a bit careless, and seem to have injured my wing when I crashed. I should have been more careful. And thank you, Mister Table, you have been most helpful. I must apologize for being so brusque with you earlier, I let myself panic somewhat, and now... well, look where that's gotten me."

She pushed those thoughts out of her mind, shifting uncomfortably on the bed. The makeshift bed was a poor substitute for a nice, comfortable cloud. "Well, anyway, thank you. I appreciate your assistance, and I'm sure Miss Starburst will too when she awakens. Don't let us keep you here for too long, though. Or perhaps you could check back later when Miss Starburst is awake. I don't want to keep you from the rest of the festival, after all."

“Right, I’ll be back first thing in the morning to check back in if that’s alright with you Mrs. Rime, and please call me Turns.” He said smiling. Since she was letting him go he thought he might go to a couple of the other stalls and getting some sweets and flowers. He still felt horrible about the whole situation and would not feel better until he felt like he had made up for it, or had at least tried.

After buying everything he needed for the presents he returned to his small apartment to assemble the goodies and the flowers. He worked most of the night trying to make sure everything was perfect adding a few extra sweets to starburst’s basket and a couple more flowers to match their colors, white for starburst and green for Mrs. Rime. Upon finishing the flower baskets he noticed the sun was almost beginning to rise. “I hope they are awake, but if they aren’t ill just let them sleep.” Turns was very sleepy but this needed to be done at least in his mind. It was him after all who scared starburst in the first place.

When he returned back to the medical tents one of the nurses let him in, he carefully placed the baskets next to each of the mares, the get well soon notes facing them so that when they woke they might be able to see them.

But the mares were still asleep and noticing how sleepy he was as well one of the nurses offered him a cot to rest on until the other mares had woken up. Turns tried his best but soon found himself dosing off and he eventually fell asleep himself.

Crystal, summoned by the weary Turn Table, fetched a simple cot for him to lie on. She set it up as quietly as she could, not wanting to wake the two mares placed in her charge. Taking a few weeks off from her singing, she had decided to volunteer at the hospital; she knew her gentle nature to be perfect for nursing. She had now been there for two weeks, and, while it hadn't been easy, it had been very rewarding.

Easing the stallion onto his cot, she spoke softly. "That's a lovely thing you did for those two mares, I am sure they'll appreciate it." It was the quiet hours of early morning, and most if not all of the patients were still fast asleep, resting and fighting their illnesses and injuries. She sat off to the side, watching Turn Table desperately fight off sleep, only to finally succumb and doze off. She, on the other hand, was wide awake, having just started her volunteer shift. In another few weeks she would be back to her day job, crooning and belting out smooth, jazzy tunes. The patients had immediately taken a shine to her, partly because of how gentle she was, but also partly due to the fact that she would sing for them; the power of music was not lost on these poor ponies, as her singing helped to soothe and sedate restless and delirious patients. Even now, she couldn't restrain herself from singing, and she sang one of her favourites, 'Dream a Little Dream of Me', although she kept the volume of her voice to a minimal level, not wishing to wake any of her charges.

With most of the blankets removed over the course of the night as her temperature leveled out, she woke up abruptly from a nightmare, sweating. In the nightmare she was an earth pony, and she was on a boat that crashed into an iceberg and she was plunged into cold water.. But someone pulled her into a lifeboat, and after hours of rest she regained her warmth and was able to go back to her tea-shop. She listens to the singing pony for a little while to calm down, hyperventilating a bit from the nightmare, and begins to get up out of the cot, pushing the blankets to the side.

She stands up and moves to leave the tent, but doubles back when she sees a basket full of candies. She reaches into the basket cautiously, removes a candy from a wrapper, and pops it into her mouth, expecting a rainbow-filled candy or a chili pepper explosion. The candy is sweet, and she rolls it over her tongue a few seconds, salivating, before biting down on the candy and swallowing the remains.

She grabs a card, picks up a pen with her mouth, and scrawls a short note to Turns, depositing it back into the basket. She moves over to Tempest, and shakes her awake, nudging her flank to get her attention. She promptly picks up Tempest's ear and whispers, "Hey...w-wake uuup."

Tempest fluttered back to wakefulness, having drifted off somewhat earlier. She blinked in confusion for a few moments at the unfamiliar surroundings until the earlier events came flooding back. She groaned softly. "Ugh, yes Miss Starburst? I'm glad you're up. You gave us quite the fright fainting like that. I mean, I knew it was a bit chilly, but hypothermia was not what I was expecting. Um... sorry about that, by the way. I'm afraid I've ruined the festival for you. Are you feeling alright at least?"

She didn't mention her own injury, but in order to prevent her from sleeping on it they had made her sleep on her stomach, so the cast was quite clearly visible. "Have you been up long? Mister Table, that is, the stallion from before, he was going to come by to check up that you were alright, did you speak to him?"

Crystal continued singing gently, and as she did so, she watched Starburst burst into a panicked wakeful state, no doubt due to a bad dream. Concerned, she made her way over to check on her, and by the time she approached, Starburst had already roused the pegasus in the bed next to her.

"Oh, how are you two feeling?" She asks in a soft voice. "Is there anything I can help with? I am here to tend to your...oh! Hold on, Mr. Turn Table wanted to see you." She hurries over to the cot, gently nudging his shoulder. "Mister Turn Table, your mare friends are awake now, if you want to speak to them."

Turns rolled over in his sleep refusing to be awakened at first. Covering his face with his hooves. He then jolted upright, remembering where he was and why he was there. “Oh thank you ma’am. I appreciate you waking me Mrs. Crystal.”

His thanks being said he made his way over to the two mares that had been admitted to this tent the last night, “It’s good to see you two awake, how are you feeling?” Concern for the mares etched itself across his face.

‘Well at least they seem to be alright I sure do hope that the white one isn’t afraid of me still.’ He said as he looked over to the white mare who seemed to be just fine.

Starburst's eyes widen as Turns comes near, and she quickly hides behind Tempest's cot. She whispers into Tempest's ear for a moment, and then rushes out of the tent, flying away. She whispers, "I'll come p-pick you up later.. Since y-you c-cant fly because of muh... me."

A distance away, at the grounds of Scarecrow corner, she packs her stand into a saddlebag, and begins the short flight back to her home ( and Tea shop ) in Cloudsdale. She inhales, flies as fast as she can into a cloud, and explodes from another cloud nearby, the cloud turning from a puffle of cotton softness into an explosion of purple lights. She does the cloud jump a few more times, clouds exploding like fireworks in the distance. Diminishing in the distance as she flies towards her home.

"I... um." Tempest looked perplexed as Starburst fled. "What was that all about?" She looked outside. "And more importantly, what time is it? I do hope I'm not late for work. Not that I'll be able to do any actual weather work like this, but at least I can get some paperwork filed."

In response to the inquiries from the other ponies who had not flown off, she stretched experimentally. "Well, I at least am feeling fine. I mean, I can't fly, obviously, but the wing certainly doesn't hurt. And... well, I assume Starburst is feeling well enough, since she certainly flew out of here in a hurry. Maybe she had something she had to do. Well, whatever. I suppose I'll head out too. Feel free to look me up if you're ever in Ponyville." With that, she gathered up her things and set off for home.

"Well, if you're going, then just be very careful with your wing." She called after Tempest as she left. "I'll let the nurses know you and Ms. Starburst have left."

Realizing that Turn Table was standing aghast beside her, she turned to address him. "Well, Mr. Turn Table, you did a nice thing for them, but it seems Starburst must be suffering from some trauma; the moment she saw you, she bolted. If I didn't know any better, I'd say she has a problem with stallions...but I'm by no means any expert on psychology, I'm just a jazz singer." She giggles gently. "Don't feel too bad about it, your heart was in the right place." As she says this, she throws a wing around him and gives him a hug.

"Now, go on home and sleep in your own bed, you are sorely in need of rest."

Turns was shocked that the two mares hadn’t at least stopped and said hi or something similar to that, but he had only a few moments to convey that feeling before he was wrapped in a warm hug. Thinking how he could make some short conversation he remembered what the mare name was. Crystal-Chorus well it certainly sounded like a singer pony. “So you’re a jazz singer, right. That’s really neat; oh and just call me Turns if that’s alright with you. I was actually thinking about going and getting some lunch im kind of hungry. Would you like to come with me?” Turns was fighting back one of the biggest blushes he had ever had, and this one was a doozy.

Crystal blinks in surprise, not expecting to receive an invitation to lunch. She quickly retracts her wing from the hug, blushing slightly herself. She was definitely flattered, and was no stranger to receiving invitations from stallions. That being said, she was merely being kind to Turn Table, her attentions were merely platonic.

"Oh! Uh...Mr. Turn Table...I...I'm flattered, really, b-but...I just started my shift an hour ago, and it lasts almost all day. And it's my last shift to boot, so I want to be sure to leave on a high note by putting in a lot of work. And by the time I'm done, I'll be pretty beat. It's not easy being a nurse, you know." She says as gently as she can, not wanting to hurt his feelings. "Anyhow, you're beat, go home and sleep, silly."

Turns blushed; She looked as if he had asked her on a date. “Oh well now that I think of it I am kinda tired still. It sure was a pleasure meeting you though Mrs. Crystal. If you ever happen by the club that I DJ at I’m sure we would be glad to have you sing on stage, as a matter of fact it would be my honor we very rarely have guest such as yourself.” This was an offer he would expect her to refuse considering what had just passed between the two of them, still he would not mind seeing her again. Just under better circumstances next time.

"A pleasure meeting you too, Mr. Turn Table." She says, bowing her head ever so slightly. "Oh, you own a club? Well, I've never been one to turn down a singing engagement." She fishes around in her bag and pulls out a card, handing it to him. "Here, feel free to contact my manager. You and him can probably work something out, and set a date."

Behind her, she hears the soft peal of a bell; a patient was calling for the nurse. "Oh, well, I must go take care of that patient. Again, nice meeting you!" She says cheerfully, turning and heading quickly down the ward to the patient; she had felt a little unnerved by the forwardness of Turn Table, and was eager to retreat to her duties. Jazz siren though she was, she was still a very shy mare when it came to dealing with stallions.
