Animal Team

"Food's here!" Muffin shouted as he came down the road to where the animal team was gathered. He was dressed in a Plant Team vest and pulling along a cart filled with baskets of fruits and vegetables. "Have the first load of fruits and veggies here for the lil' critters! Sorry if I took too long, I'm not too familiar with these parts…" Muffin said, rubbing his hoof to be back of his head as he smiled nervously. "Er, which one of ya is in charge 'round here?" he asked, noticing that things seemed to be somewhat hectic at the moment.

After what seemed like an eternity, Midsy finally pranced out of the woods, her saddlebags bulging from the massive amounts of nuts and berries that were being sheltered in the bags. Feeling quite content with her accomplishment, she pranced over to the pony who had just brought up a cart of fruits and veggies. The enthusiasm in her voice could brighten anypony's day, as her cheerful demeanor reverberated in her words. "Wow! That's a lot of food for those little critters! I'm sure they'll be really happy with all that food! Hey! Where do we put all this stuff?"

From Fluttershy's vantage point high on Bruce the Bear's shoulder, she noticed numerous animals still gathered around her cottage. Curious, she left the bear to his tree-shaking duties and flew over to the gathering. That was when she noticed the pair of ponies that had arrived, laden with food.

The animals were massing around the hooves of the two ponies. Making it difficult for them to walk. Fluttershy descended into the the furry swarm. "Now now, all of you give these ponies some space!" she chided. "You'll all get your share!"

As the animals backed off, Fluttershy looked shyly at the mare and stallion who had brought the food. "Oh, um, thank you for getting more food for the animals. They are so hungry when they first wake up."

Shanna finishes offloading Fluttershy's cart and hitches back up to head back for more baskets of animal food, then spots Fluttershy heading over to the other ponies making a delivery run.

Shanna waved a wing at Fluttershy when she had a moment.

"Um Rainbow Dash said it would be okay to borrow this cart of yours Miss Fluttershy. May I go ahead and continue using it for hauling the baskets of salad?"

Muffin's attention was drawn to the enthusiastic voice of Midsy as she approached him. He greeted the mare warmly with a smile, nodding in agreement. "Yep! I bettin' those lil' critters are starvin' after stayin' cooped up all winter. And there'll be plenty for all of 'em, there's more carts on the way!" Muffin looked over towards where he'd seen the animals gathered, noticing a few making their way towards him and Midsy. "Oh lookie there! Here come some right n—" It was then that Muffin noticed that what had been a few small critters coming towards them had quickly turned into a large mass of animals swarming towards the two ponies. "Shazam! They must be really hungry!" Muffin exclaimed as he suddenly found himself surrounded by squirrels, rabbits, birds, mice, racoons, and a variety of other animals.

"Whoa there lil' fellas! Now don't ya worry, we got plenty of food and... Yeow!" he exclaimed as he felt one of the animals impatiently claw at his leg. Amidst the chaos, Muffint noticed the yellow pegasus trying to restore order amongst the riotous critters. To his surprise, it seemed to work, each of the animals slowly backing away on command from the pegasus. Muffin gave an astonished look to the mare as she trotted over to him. "Oh er… It's no problem at all m'am. I'm guessin' you must be the leader of this here team? Lampwick and that rainbow pegasus told us to start bringin' some food over here and… Whoah!" Muffin exclaimed as a rogue squirrel suddenly climbed up his leg, over his back and jumped onto the wagon.

Sometime after Survey left, Cutlass found herself taking a small break after plowing for hours. She remained rather low-key, due to her lack of interaction with much of anypony else for the remainder of that day. She had covered lots of ground and had managed to help out as best she could. Finding a seat somewhere in a shady area, Cutlass decided to watch the other ponies for a few moments. As hectic as things were earlier, she was starting to see plenty of interaction and helping between the others. And with Survey gone, and having spoken to nopony else, she grudgingly admitted to herself that felt pretty lonely.

'You could have tried harder. You weren't exactly Ms. Social until that colt came up to you earlier.' she admonished herself mentally.

She overheard a filly mentioning need in the kitchen for some help with cutting some things and just laughed. The sandy pelted mare grabbed her sword and cloak and began to trot off in the direction of the kitchens. Maybe it wasn't too late.

Midsy was quite proud of herself, for gathering do much food for the critters, however when the hungry animals started crowding around them, she did the first thing she could think of. Within an instant, she had hopped up on the wagon, and was throwing berries to the critters, trying to keep them at bay with a barrage of nuts and berries. Just when all hope seemed to be lost, a yellow Pegasus landed, and talked the critters into backing away. Midsy jumped down off the wagon, and pranced over to Fluttershy, pure enthusiasm dripping in every word, as she bounced around Fluttershy, squealing with delight. "Wow! That was AWESOME! How did you do that? Can ya teach me? Huh? Can ya? Huh?"
