[Fillydelphia] A Country Field Trip [PM for Invite]

Recommended Posts

reno-.jpg

Reno shook off some hay that was clumped in his mane and ears, once he was clear he shook his backside to free the trapped dried hay strands from there as well; Ruby was sitting on his shoulders, her little paws filled with green mane since she had been slightly startled due to his panic filled bolting and running like that.

Reno’s cheeks were bright red because he was embarrassed and ashamed of himself for panicking at the sight of the fire and hiding in a VERY bad hiding spot. “I’m sorry Miss Cheerilee..I got scared and I hid.. Ruby is fine I took her with me…” He muttered looking up at her sheepishly “I’m really sorry I didn’t help I just couldn’t think of nothing…anything” he corrected his grammar before looking over at Haywire “Oh She’s doing okay Haywire…” Ruby was a bit of a puffed mess and was shaking the straw out of her fur, but for the most part seemed to be doing alright.

Though the person he was the most ashamed of running away from was Pinchy, he looked at her with the saddest expression in those emerald green eyes of his “ I’m really sorry” he muttered “I didn’t mean to run off so you had’ta put the fire out all by yourself with no partner…” he was a really bad colt friend and he felt bad.

Zecorafbanner.jpg

Zecora watched Carmel go before going over to Miss Cheerilee and smiled putting a hoof on the teachers shoulder “You are a good teacher I can tell, you seem to handle stress so well” The Zebra said softly before moving to give the teacher a soft but affectionate peck on the cheek “The foals are very lucky that the fire didn’t spread higher, or this situation could be dire…” She added glancing at the foals “Now come now speak to us, who were the ones that started all this fuss?” Though she had a pretty good idea whom had.

Her calm but slightly judgmental gaze resting on Haywire sternly but she didn’t say a word, not going to just accuse her of such a deed, but was going to let her explain herself first.

The blush was strong with this one. She looked on as Zecora kissed Cheerilee on the cheek and this caused Apple Bumpkin to assume the fainting goat position. She lay on the ground all four hooves in the air and her eyes wide, somepony who wasn't her just kissed Cheerilee.

"Well...." She started, "At least it can't get..." Suddenly a loud crack of thunder sounded and it began to rain in a very melodramatic way to the point of seeming to be planned.

"Worse." She let out a sigh and looked over at all of the ponies before she stood back up and flipped her mane out of her face, normally its curly ends would keep itself out of her face but when it got wet her mane very seldom behaved.

"Hurry ponies to the Apple Cider making shed! Don't need ya'll catchin a cold!" She tried to yell out over the pounding noise of the rain, sure it just seemed to be raining hard but Bumpkin didn't want to take the chance of getting any of the foals sick and never hearing back from Cheerilee or the fact that then they would have to stop the field trip and take care of the sick pony. Bumpkin pointed with her hoof towards the shed that seemed to be oddly placed in between the trees of the Tiny Apple Valley but to Bumpkin and her sister it made perfect sense why it was there. Less travel time, more profit. Bumpkin trotted over to Cheerilee and bowed her head before the teacher mare.

" 'Ah'm sorry that this trip has been such a disaster, 'Ah didn't know that fate would be conspiring against us like this." She sighed again and started to trot off towards the shed hoping that the foals and the other two mares were in tow. The day would get better for sure, Apple Bumpkin wasn't going to let these youngins have a bad day, nor was she going to let Cheerilee and Zecora have to bear all of the responsibility for these foals when they all got back to Ponyvile, Apple Bumpkin was going to make this THE BEST DAY EVER!

As it started to rain, Cheerilee looked up in annoyance, her mane dropping instantly. She knew she had checked ahead of time with the weather pegasai to make sure it was scheduled to be sunny. Somepony wasn’t doing their job! "Listen to Miss Bumpkin, class, and get inside now - don't worry if you have enough apples, we’ll get you some extras! Hurry along now!” Cheerilee hadn’t forgotten that somepony started that fire, but she didn’t like the idea of making the class stand in the cold rain until she found out.

And Bumpkin had apologized? It was her class that set Bumpkin’s tree on fire, ruined sacks of her feed, and made a general mess of things, yet their host was apologizing. She was at a loss for words. “It's ... It’s alright, believe me, we regularly have things go willy nilly on a field trip, it’s all part of the job!” Cheerilee smiled, hoping to reassure their host.

She hurried forward to catch up with Reno as they hurried inside. She understood, he was a foal after all, not a firefighter; she couldn’t reasonably expect any of the students to have helped put out the fire, it was just a blessing so many managed to rally together to help advert what could have been a disaster. She smiled warmly, “And don't you worry, hon; you kept the bunny with you and tried to safely hide her; I am glad you were thinking of her safety even when you were frightened. We all get frightened from time to time, but you didn’t panic, now hurry along.”

Cheerilee turned to a now soaked Zecora and smiled warmly, “if you wouldn’t mind helping escort of the students in, I would very much appreciate it.” She couldn’t figure out why Zecora kissed her the way she did, perhaps that was how Zebras showed friendship or approval, or maybe to say things were going to be alright; there was just so much she still needed to understand about Unyasian culture, but none the less it was greatly appreciated.

"RAIN!" Haywire shouted out with joy, "I ain't NEVER been happier to see rain!"

The rust colored filly smiled as she stood out in the rain. She didn't care how she was getting soaking wet, she was just thankful that all this rain would put out the fire she had started as well as keep it from spreading. The blonde blank flank thought she was a victim of 'bad luck' all day, it was great to see some GOOD luck for a change! She then heard Reno telling her that the bunny was ok.

"Thank Celestia!" Haywire neighed as she galloped off to where the others were going. Maybe her luck WAS starting to change after all! Well, she did realize that no amount of 'luck' was going to save her from whatever punishment Cheerilee was going to give her. Haywire wasn't as much worried about that as she was scared of how loud and long her big sister Haymaker was going to yell at her when SHE found out.

Remington scurried inside when the rain started coming down. Once inside, his mane which stood up well on it's own started sagging a little to side. His hooves and blank flank dripped of the wetness as he stood just inside the doorway waiting for some kind of dryness to bless him. As he waited, he asked the closest adult, "Are we going to make apple juice now? I'm so thirsty!" Remington tried to scrape his hooves of the mud from outside. Still a little dazed and confused from his untimely nap, Remington tried to gather his thoughts. For a moment he almost forgot where he was. He looked at his watch to see that they had only been on the farm for about twenty minutes. This was going to be the longest trip ever. And even though Remington rarely got bored, this trip was starting to disappoint him more and more.

Sweetie Belle breathed a sigh of relief as the fire was extinguished ... she leaned against the wall for a moment, panting a little, and setting her little mind to racing. Had she caused that fire? The answer was usually 'yes', but there were some differences here. She wasn't in a kitchen, for starters, and she couldn't really remember having done anything that should start a fire.

Well, this field trip was already getting interesting! Still, she'd already put out *tons* of fires. She wasn't gonna get a firepony cutiemark!

"Comon, Apple Bloom!" she cried, hopping up to her hooves after only ten seconds of rest, "Time to go get some Juice Box cutie marks!" She hurried to the shed to get inside away from the sudden squall of rain.

Apple Bloom was used to the cracking of a nice thunderstorm, even more so than many of her classmates. Her farm straddled the wild and wacky confines of the Everfree forest and that place lacked any control whatsoever over the weather. Fierce storms whalloped her farm randomly, keep her family on their hooves all year long. The storm started to crack above them and Apple Bloom cursed a few things. The weather pegasi who allowed it to happen and her extended family which didn't bother to change the date once they knew it was coming. But it didn't matter much; they were going to make delicious apple juice, one way or the other.

"Let's go make us some juice!" Apple Bloom belted out in accordance with Sweetie, racing off behind her cousin Bumpkin.

"Cousin Bumpkin, how ya make applejuice 'ere? Is it just like back at Sweet Apple Acres?" Apple Bloom asked, her trot gaining steam as they eventually got out of the rain.

All little Ruby could think to do was give Reno a big hug! A hug of forgiveness! She was not ashamed of him, nor was she angry at him! In fact, she didn't really do much of anything to help with the fire either! And helping with the fire could've endangered the bunny! He did what he had to as a member of the Bunny squad!

"Aw, Reno! It's okay! You didn't do anything wrong, so you don't have nothing to be sorry for!" Double negative, but hopefully Reno knew what she meant. Giving the colt a little nuzzle, she let him go and watched the class proceeding inside for this epic and wonderful apple juice most of them had been dreaming about the whole trip. Pinchy beamed at the prospect of delicious juice! "Come on, Reno! Lets go inside!"

Trusting he would be following behind, Ruby went on ahead and proceeded inside. Once there, she'd wait for Reno to make sure 1) He came in and 2) They could enjoy juice together!

D'aw.

Apple Bumpkin had chosen the most perfect time to look over her shoulder as she saw all the foals trotting into the building where the massive buckets of Apples and some hosing as well as some strange looking contraptions were housed. She had the best view of Cheerilee as she trotted in with her soaking wet mane. Bumpkin's ears pinned up at the sight and she gave a gasping expression as she would normally not have taken note but for some strange reason it just stuck out to her with the way she looked as of current. After shaking the thoughts from her head she looked back over and nodded to her cousin Apple Bloom.

"Well 'Ah think so at least, ya just gallop on that thing there," she pointed with her hoof to a tredmill that was hooked up to a rather large red machine that had roughly enough room for two grown ponies to prance around in side it. "And atop ya have two ponies that are stomping on tha apples real good like, and down here," Her hoof finds its way to a small hopper that leads into the larger machine. "Ya throw in the good apples here, so while a few of ya foals are going through the apples and then some of ya are cleanin 'em and throwin them into the hopper here, a lucky pony and myself will be up there and then a bunch of the rest of ya will be here making the whole thing go!" She took a long pause as she noticed that she had started to ramble on.

"After all of that we can even have some of the Apple Juice that we all make!" She grinned from ear to ear since she knew that this was something so easy and fool, pardon the pun....FOAL, proof.

"Also, Cheerilee I'd like to pull you aside when you have some time, 'Ah just have a few details to work out with ya is all." She tries to hold her huge grin but ends up faulting back to her shy expression when she looks at Cheerilee. So instead of facing the issue face to face she turns around and begins to climb up into the top of the large machine and simply wait, hoping that each of the foals will file out and take a place they feel most comfortable with.

A soaking wet, flat maned Cheerilee entered the building where the juice was made. The cider making layout was pretty old fashioned but not entirely unexpected. At least it made it easy to divide up the foals - some could clean the apples, some could divide the good from the bad, the athletic ones could have a time in the wheel, and perhaps Bumpkin would allow a couple up there with her to smash them into juice. Cheerilee snickered at that last part, no doubt some of the foals would really enjoy stomping around like that, competing to see who could smash the most apples.

Cheerilee's joy at the whole prospect was slightly dampened when their generous host asked to see her at the end of the field trip, ugh, the Mayor isn't going to be too pleased when I explain the school had to pay for an apple tree's worth of apples. That had to be what she needed to talk about. Although Bumpkin seemed very forgiving about it all, Cheerilee still remembered how upset her sister was.

First things first, though, she had to resolve who had set the tree on fire. Now that the class was safety inside the dry building, she looked back at her class with a serious expression. "Students, before we can enjoy making ourselves some delicious apple juice, I need to know how that tree caught on fire. I am giving the guilty party a chance to come forward and pony up to causing it. I am sure it was an accident, but I need to know who and how before we can continue."

"Apple juice!?" Remington overheard Sweetie Belle exclaim to Apple Bloom. "Drink box cutie marks?" Finally, something that Remington could pursue. Although he was pretty sure apple juice was a delight to drink and less fun to make, he decided that it would probably be a exciting experience. Remington walked over to the vat that had a large crushing wheel and a treadmill on it. Instead of climbing onto the treadmill, Remington decided to do his own thing and climb into the vat. With a large gasp of breathe for strength he climbed into the vat and a splat on the apples in it spread when Remington dropped in. Remington was sitting himself in the large area where all the freshly picked apples were crushed into juice by hoof. He couldn't wait to start rolling around and having a fun time in there.

But then, Miss Cheerilee interrupted everypony by suggesting that finding out who started the fire had to come first. Remington peaked over the edge of the vat and looked on to what was happening. Someone was in trouble. Remington had the joy of knowing he wasn't one of them. Or was he? Could he have been cutting up while he was dreaming?

Reno was glad the whole thing was being taken so well, he had really and truly felt ashamed for running off, but he HAD brought Ruby with him and had kept her safe, he blushed at Cheerilee's words and eagerly followed her inside, mane nice and wet, the bunny equally wet and kicked the side of it's head with it's foot a few times, a small stream of water gushing out, Reno snickered lightly and gave the bunny a kiss, before staying against Pinchy and giving her a hug back for the one she had given him earlier ... "Thanks Pinchy..."

Zecorafbanner.jpg

Zecora chuckled slightly as she headed inside, her mane was now wet and plastered to the side of her head, revealing a very pretty image of the exotic zebra with her mane no longer defying gravity in it's trademark moehawk, She sighed a little bit since today wasn't going super well but she was constantly being impressed by Cheerilee's spunk and patience with her students, and even now with her looking for the one responsible for the fire without anger or harshness in her tone.

"Yes come forth and do not be a stranger, it is good that none of us were in serious danger" Zecora said to back Cheerilee up, putting a gentle and slightly wet hoof on the teachers shoulder.

"Your teacher you'v worried sick, If I were you I'd confess quick"

(OOC: apologies for the massive delay, Health issues and then some)

Snails whinnied in surprise as after getting the fire under control, it began to rain.

"Gee! Ah thought th' weather was clear t'day!"

All the foals were herded into a nearby shed full of apple juicing equipment.

Snails thought about what he could do to to help make the juice "Should ah check the apples, or should ah get on th' treadmill? Ah'm tall fer my age!"

He scratched his head with a hoof as he saw Remington climb into the same hopper the big wheel was in. He poked his nose in the bin "Remington? Somentin dont seem right 'bout this..."

The guilt was building up within Haywire. This had been a REALLY bad day for her, even by her own standards. First, she clocked an innocent bunny with a wayward rock from her slingshot, and now her 'brilliant plan' to use firecracker rockets to buck trees really turned into a near disaster. But the rust colored filly knew what she had to do, she swallowed hard, and then bravely walked up to her teacher.

"Miss Cheerilee, it was me. I'm not much of an apple bucker, since me and my kin work on a hay farm, so I jist thought I could use some of mah hoofmade rockets to knock all the apples off my tree all at once. Well, that wasn't one of mah better ideas, and I'm really, really sorry about the fire and everything all us kids had to go through. I'm even more sorry that I let you down, Miss Cheerilee." Haywire said as she bowed her head low in sadness.

Leaning over the edge of the top of the contraption she smiled at Cheerilee.

"See, at least she is remorseful, there is nothing to worry about now since everypony is safe and unharmed right?" She looked at the group of foals trying to make sure that she was right that they were all safe. Her own wet mane now more accentuated by her hoofkerchief she used as a hair tie to keep it out of her face as they worked. She looked over to Zecora and put a hoof to her chin pondering what this zebra would be willing to, surely it wouldn't be running, perhaps sorting? Cheerilee had most likely done enough sorting when she had to grade papers so she was sure that Cheerilee would either join her in smashing apples to get her frustration out or even running with some of the foals to fuel the machine. It was hard to believe that Apple Bumpkin had figured out a way to do this whole machine with just her and her sister and they did it pretty efficiently. With a giggle she attempted to pose a question to the Zebra.

"So ponder me this dearest Zecora, what are ya gunna do with the foals ta help them make the Apple Juice?." She hoped that her accent wasn't too thick or she had said her question in a way that the Zebra would understand her. Surely they would get underway here soon and be able to make lots of Apple Juice for all the foals to drink, she just had to make sure that they didn't drink too much and get sick. With a smile and a wink to both Cheerilee and Zecora, Bumpkin rolled over onto her back and let her mane hang-dry for lack of a better term.

It didn’t take long for Haywire to admit to being the cause of the fire - not that this surprised Cheerilee at all. What was Cheerilee going to do with her? She could make Haywire wait in a corner while the juice was being made, but that would be a lost educational moment. “Well, Haywire, I am glad you came forward, but what were you thinking?! Fireworks? You know fireworks are never allowed at school or field trips. And this is exactly why. You were told this would happen, and you ignored me." Cheerilee put her forehoof to her face and just sighed for a moment; it didn’t do either of them good to get upset.

Cheerilee would have liked to require Haywire to help with the farm, but it was so far away from her home. “Since all Apple family farms are related, I think you’ll have to spend a couple weekends working at Sweet Apple Acres to pay off the tree you damaged; don’t you think that would be fair?” Rhetorical question, of course, but it seemed like a good way to teach responsibility; “We will also have to have a little teacher-guardian meeting with your sister. And ... I want you to write a paper on all the ways that fireworks can destroy property and hurt other ponies.”

Hoping that would help Haywire to think a little about the things she was constantly doing, Cheerilee turned back to the rest of the class. She wasn't surprised that one of the students had already decided where he wanted to help out, as Remington flew to the vat where the acceptable apples would be crushed. She hoped the other students would choose soon as well - she'd prefer to let them pick their own spots than have to assign them. “Alrighty, class, we need some of you for sorting the good from the bad, some to run the treadmill and a few more of you to crush and press the apples in the vat, who wants to do what, now?"

Sweetie Belle looked over the grand layout, impressed. How did those two older mares *run* all of this? They must work really hard! Well, part of her wanted to go sort apples - she knew that's what Rarity had done, but ... that looked kinda boring. But that giant hamster wheel!

"Comon, Apple Bloom!" she said eagerly, "Let's see how fast we can get that big wheel spinning!" grabbed at Apple Bloom and tugged at her, grinning broadly, over to the wheel, where she hopped in and started to run!

The little filly took right off running, intending to make a good start. She ran right up the side of the wheel, her little white hooves scrabbling, and then gravity took over. She fell back down, and slid upside-down, on her shoulders, back to the bottom of the wheel. The wheel creaked just a little bit. "Huh ..."

Remington felt the soft squish from under his hooves. The crushing of apples under him made a satisfying crunch as he patted the vat down to apple sauce. He was having fun. He didn't even stop to think that maybe he should have washed his hooves before he got into the vat. The sound of crushed apple anguish and small colt pitter-patter echoed inside the vat and out to the rest of the warehouse. Remington giggled in his fun. "I'm gonna crush these apples! I'm gonna crush them good!" Remington started pounding the vat bottom hard, making apple remains splatter all over the sides of the vat, and even beyond the vat. He was sure making a mess, and any ponies who would try to share the vat with him sure would be in for a surprising coat of applesauce.

It was so much more relaxing when you had other ponies to share the heavy workload and fun times of your average farm day. Doing it by yourself made the work stand out, what with nopony to talk to or joke around with. Made the whole venture sorta sad sometimes. Luckily, there was less than zero chance of that happening thanks to the sheer number of her friends cascading around her and whatever was left to dash her little filly dreams was soon swept aside when Sweetie Belle offered to run the wheel with her and even took the lead!

Apple Bloom nodded vigorously and trotted to the wheel, but not before Sweetie Belle had been a silly pony. She had tried to get a running start and instead found herself flat on her back, the wheel having rudely informed her of its working. Apple Bloom stepped on slowly, hopping over her fellow Crusader. She bent down to help her up, giggling a bit.

"Ah'm sorry Sweetie Belle, Ah don't mean ta be mean or nothin'. Just a tad funny is all. Ya have to get upta speed on tha wheel, startin' off with a nice walk, then a trot, and then maybe we get a bit faster. Go too fast though and we're liable to create a big 'ol mess!" She finished, though whether that was a deterrent or an offer was up in the air.

"Ya ready, cousin Bumpkin?" Apple Bloom said, waiting for her response and for Sweetie to get off her flank and get canterin'!

The students were slowly but surely picking out their spots for making juice. Remington took to his spot with enthusiasm - perhaps a little too much, as splotches of apple juice and bits landed on Cheerilee’s wet coat; she was about to say something when a particularly large spatter covered her face with sweet, sticky apple sauce and bits. As if having a drenched mane wasn’t enough. “Umm, Remington, dear! You may want to slow down just a little, we want to let the apples fill in and give a few of your classmates a chance, now!”

Cheerilee lit up as she was struck by an idea! Instead of having the foals only do one part of the machine, they could rotate between all three parts and get the full experience; surely their Apple host wouldn’t mind. “Don’t worry about where you initially end up class, we will be rotating through all parts of the juice making process, so you'll all get to try each stage! No need to crowd over any one part, everyone will get a turn at everything”. Cheerilee gave a bright and encouraging smile; it seemed very fair, as no doubt some parts were more fun than others. “Now, who would like to help Remington first? We could use another pony on the wheel with Applebloom and Sweetie Belle, and I would love to have some volunteers at the sorting station to make sure no bad apples go into the vat, and we’ll end up with a whole lot of fresh juice to drink! Does that sound good to you, Miss Bumpkin?”

Cheerilee turned to Zecora, her normally rigid zebra mane as flat as Cheerilee’s own. “of course, Miss Zecora, if you'd like to join in with the class, please do!” It would actually be helpful to have an adult overseeing each of the three sections - and it would be polite to let Zecora have her first choice of station.

Zecora glanced at Bumpkin, then she glanced at Cheerilee, tapping a hoof to her chin and smiled "Sorting Apples for the ones that are prized seems like an area that could be supervised" She said and smiled at them both "If it is no problem for either of you, I can supervise a foal or two... Provided that for this imbition...there is a lack of demolition" She gave Haywire a slight look for that, Firecrackers really? Who brings fire crackers to a Field Trip!? Zecora shook her head a little bit but her stiff mane continued to hang straight for now, she chuckled "My goodness would you look at that, the rain has made my poor mane go flat.."

reno-.jpg

Reno was feeling a thousand times better now, and made sure his bunny was in a nice warm spot, before grabbing Ruby by the hoof and pulled her over to the treadMill "Come on!" Hopping on to help out, running as fast as his short little hooves could manage, running at a full gallop to keep up with the other foal "This is fun! Ruby you gotta try this thing! " He said and grinned "HayWire come on after this why don't we squish apples together?"

Everything seemed to have happened all at once to Timid. The fire, being dragged by Sweetie Belle and filling buckets of water to the sudden storm. Safely indoors, he finally had a chance to slow down and take a moment to think and collect himself. He shook himself to dry himself off, his mane as flat as everyone else's. His eyes were blank and uncomprehending as Cheerilee explained how they would work together to make apple juice. "Uh, Miss Cheerilee, could you explain that again? I didn't quite catch all that", he asked, raising a hoof and cocking his head with a genuinely confused expression on his face. As he asked for a repetition, he had glanced around and noticed all the other foals were busy doing relevant tasks. Hopefully Cheerilee would assign him something that wouldn't be too physically demanding.

Sweetie Belle blushed a little bit, and rolled over onto her hooves, walking, then trotting, on the wheel with Apple Bloom, speeding things up nicely. It worked a lot better!

"Neat!" she said happily, "This is kinda fun!" She giggled happily, and then the wheel was going even *faster* yet, as Reno hopped up beside them and started galloping full-tilt. She put her head down, grinning happily as they had a race in-place to see who could keep up! "This is really fun!" she chirped happily, and instead of continuing her running, she just started *poinging* along, all four hooves hitting and pushing off, a gleeful expression on her face as she just kept bouncing in place to keep up with all the others!

Apple Bloom didn't normally think she had any sort of real rivalry with anypony. Mostly, she just wanted to impress her friends but that didn't count as some sort of rivalry, did it? She didn't think so. Besides, she wasn't even a competitive pony. She just wanted to make sure that everything got done the right way, the proper way. The Apple way on an Apple farm, her cousin's no less. She and Sweetie built up their speed responsibility and the wheel was starting to turn at a respectable and controllable pace. They were going to help make some mighty fine apple juice and Apple Bloom was happy to say that when she and Sweetie were pouring their cups, they had done their part.

"Yer doin' great, Sweetie Belle!"

Just as she said that though, she was reminded of why she said she didn't normally consider herself a pony with a real rivalry. Reno jumped on and went about trying to match and then exceed the pace. It wasn't that she disliked Reno, you see, it was that the very first time she had ever seen him, Reno had hogtied her and embarrassed her in front of her great uncle Strudel. Sweetie Belle started plonking in position, and the loss of her hoof power almost made Apple Bloom stumble, though she recovered within a single step. She didn't want to collapse like a fool with her best friend about eight inches away, especially when she wasn't gonna be looking and would get hurt as a result. Apple Bloom looked over at Reno, past the bouncin' Belle, slightly annoyed but keeping a smile plastered on her face as she tried her best to keep up appearances.

"Well, uhh, thanks Reno!" She shouted perhaps a bit too loud, matching the pace. Then, with her confidence restored, Apple Bloom allowed a somdewhat sinister smile to spread over her face.

Her pace quickened, the gallop starting to be long in stride and swift in completion. She'd make Reno ask to slow this down, even if she had to lose her lunch over it!

"Giddy up, Reno! Let's see if yer gallop matches yer rope skills!"

Cheerilee was pretty sure that the apple stomping would have been the part of the process the foals most would have clamored for, but it turned out to be the running wheel that students were quickest to flock to. Already Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, Reno, and Ruby Pinch were inside pushing it along with their little hooves. Four ponies seemed a bit much, Cheerilee felt three would have been plenty, but they were little ponies so she figured it couldn’t do any harm.

She bent down to give Silverswirl a refresher. “Sure, hon. First, all the apples are harvested and stored away until it is ready to make the juice. When it is time, they are slowly released from the hopper onto that conveyer belt,” she said, pointing, “where ponies push off any apples at are bruised, wormy, or brown. The wheel your classmates are in powers the conveyer belt that dumps the apples into that hopper,” She swept her hoof across to point at the hopper, “Where they get stomped into juice that falls into the tub down there,” and she brought her hoof down. Cheerilee was reasonably sure that was how it all worked. If she got any details wrong, Bumpkin surely would let them know. What would be best for the timid foal though? Perhaps sorting, it was more mental than physical and he seemed like a bright colt, “why don’t you help Miss Zecora with the sorting, she’ll be happy to help guide you along.”

All that was left was the remaining students, “Haywire, why don’t you help with the sorting as well, and Snips, Snails, why don’t you join Remington in the apple crushing vat to work off some of that energy!” The whole process seemed pretty straightforward; surely no more mayhem could come of this with all three adults present, right?
