Character Summary: Night Watcher was born into a military family. Her father, Stormwing, was a Major General in the royal Equestrian Army, and her mother, Urgent Care, was an REA medic. Her father, at least she believed, would rather that Night was born a colt rather than a filly. Nevertheless he was a loving parent, albeit having a zero tolerance policy on disobediance.

Night as a young filly was at first very rebellious to her parents, disobeying them and as she got older staying out late roaming the streets of Canterlot. It wasn’t her parents she was upset about, but it was Night’s desire to be free from somepony controlling her life.

One night Night Watcher was roaming the streets when she saw a young colt being harrassed by two ponies. She positioned herself between the colt and his attackers and fought them off until they fled. It was then that she realized that she liked protecting others and did well doing so. This inturn produced her cutie mark, a shield,. She didn't think much of the altercation as she helped the pony home, but this set up for a new path in life.

Sure enough, Nightt was summoned to a meeting with Colonel Iron Hoof of the Royal Equestrian Army. He explained that it was his son that she protected that night. He admired her courage and willingness to risk her own safety to help another. He asked her if she wanted to join the REA, as she showed, in his opinion, the potential for a great general. When she her concern of control, the captain said that in reality the military has rules and procedures in orser for ponies to achieve their best potential. With those assuring words, Night Watcher joined the military.

Basic training was grueling, and a few times she was going to quit. Yet she remembered her parents, Colonel Iron Hoof, and the colt she protected and pressed on. She quickly rose through the ranks, and her first test was in defending Ponyville during the return of Nightmare Moon.

After that event, she was given a rather interesting assignment to become a part of the newly reformed Lunar Guard. This military group was established back before Luna was banished to the moon and was under her command. At first, Night had her doubts as she had seen Luna as Nightmare Moon and thus was nervous of what her division would entail. Yet she still accepted the position and was promoted to a Staff Sergant for her efforts.

Recently Night Watch was involved with protecting Canterlot from an unknown threat, which turned out to be Queen Chrysalis and her army of changelings. Now Canterlot is still under high security, and Night Watcher is there to protect the city and Equestria from any threat.

Hey there!

A good app in general, though there are a couple of things I wish to point out:

One night Tempest was roaming the streets when she saw a young colt being harrassed by two ponies. She stood her ground and defended the colt against his attackers. It was then that she realized that she liked protecting others. This inturn produced her cutie mark.

What exactly did she do to defend this young colt? What does the mark mean to her in terms of being tied to her talent?

to train the upcoming recruits

So is she a guard or a drill instructor? Can't be both, really. In the military, the chances of active military forces interacting with recruits aside from the DIs and other training personnel are slim to none. The only instance I could think of that would be an exception would be an urgent emergency where recruits would be conscripted into a reserve garrison (like the Changeling scenario). Though when the emergency is over those conscripts would return to training.

to advance to general one day

A respectable goal, but the chances of an enlisted pony becoming a flag officer are very slim. The way the REA is set up, Tempest would have to take leave from the guard in order to attend ROTC training to earn a commission, and even then she would start out as a lieutenant. Being enlisted could help her advance in terms of her being familiar with how things move up and down the chain, and what exactly enlisted people expect of an officer, but it's still a rare case that any officer make it all the way to general. Not discouraging you from this, mind you, just letting you know :P

There is a character named Tempest Rime. While your name is not identical, it could potentially lead to some confusion. Keep this in mind.

Sergeant in the Royal Equestrian Army (REA) Assigned on special detail to protect Princess Luna

We're not too keen on OCs with pre-existing cast relationships as part of their description. Tempest could easily be part of the Lunar Guard that patrols the castle or the streets of Canterlot at night and still keep her key characteristics. She does not have to be tied to Luna despite her profession.

I'm going to reiterate what Imagination said here. I would also suggest reading up on military culture and careers to get a better idea of how the REA system was developed, how the ranks relate to each other, and how military servicemen/women interact with each other and the general population.

Finally, a minor nitpick. Please bold your field titles (Name, Age, Cutie Mark, etc.) as this will make your application much easier to read.

Ok.

Changed her name to Night Watcher to eliminate any confusion, adjusted the fact that she's part of the guard while not necessarily protecting Luna all the time, and read up on military information. I see the highest rank she can get is Sergant Major of the Army, so at least she has some ranks to go before reaching that goal. Even though she is a Sergant, she will be on patrols at night along with the other members of the Lunar Guard.
