October 06, 2011 - The book associate is not a self help consultant.

So today at work, I was in the book section. Sometimes I work up front at the register, but today I was in books. Because I like books. I even bought books today. I get a discount on books, because I work there. I LOVE BOOKS! I don't answer the phone at the book desk. Someone up front answers it, and then they page whoever the call is for-books, music, movies etc. So I get a call. Not unusual. I have a phone at the book desk where I can take calls, so that's where the book associate answers book

Blast from the past.

Howdy Ya'll If many of you have not guessed yet, I take some pleasure in messing with my friends and co-workers. I always try to keep it light though and harmless, and always try to ease up before it gets out of hand. I'd like to say that this was a recent development, but unfortunately I have always, well, been somewhat annoying since I can remember. Granted I was quieter and shier back when I was younger, but I still had my flair when given the opportunity. This conversation took place someti

Black ichor ran freely from the wound in my side.  If it hadn’t been for Luc, my pack’s Ulfric, I would be dead.    Luc…he was dead now, and it’s that entirely damnable Dragon’s fault, taking away Luc from my pack and me.  The pain of the wound, coupled with the coming of my children was almost more than I could stand.  Almost.    It takes a great deal to slow a lycanthrope down, but this was what would be termed fatal to any but a Lupa.  It is a blessing that I am one, was one, always will be a

ok... now on to the big one for me! WHAT is a peryton? Never new some thing with a name like that.

Oh, I’m so glad you asked! Actually, we perytons have a rich and colorful history. There have been many different theories about what we really are or where we really come from. There is a short and a long answer, but I’ll give you the medium answer! On the surface, we’re simply winged deer. But we’re so much more than that. As with many other mythical creatures, we have both a negative and positive past. Just like unicorns, we’re both to be feared and sought for! There’s been many different ‘de

Leveling Up.

Howdy Ya'll How's everypony doing? Good? Great! I got news and the news is that I have recently been made a manager at the video game store I work at. Ain't that great? I have power now! I mean, who's crazy enough to give me power!? HA! My store manager and I did have a very long conversation though, but, before I regale you with that, I will unleash onto thee a bit of my ramblings. Now, like many Bronies here, or at least I imagine many of us fall under this specific category, many of us have

What the hay is a industrial?

Well, my dear, there are several meanings to ‘Industrial’. If you are referring to the body piercing, it is a type of piercing with any two holes connected by the same piece of jewelry, also known as a scaffold piercing. As a verb, it refers to anyone who is being particularily busy, as in an ant or termite. In reference to music, it is an abrasive and aggressive fusion of rock and electronic music. Oont Oont Oont! Why "Skye"?

Well, Skye is my name, it’s a story that begins a long time ago. It references the vastness and openness of the sky itself, and my parents just liked it for some reason I suppose. Source

1st Hunbrony Meeting

Since I made this blog I should write into it and fill it with entries regullary which I still don't know how it will work but here is the begining, the first entry. I just arived home from the very 1st Annual Hunbrony Meeting and I can say I can't wait until I could meet with my brony friends. The time really flew while we were togeter and laughed a lot. I'm so happy I found this Hun Bronny club about 1.5 monts ago. Tehere were about 35 members there (33 boys with me and two girls). I really su

Coffee Shop Blues, Writefriend September 2011

(I wrote this for the September 2011 writefriend. With apologies to my friend who's fabulous blues song inspired me) It was a dark and stormy night. Well, not so much dark and stormy, really more twilight and cloudy. Oh, and it was morning too. In fact, scratch that, let me start over. I was sitting in the corner of a lightly murmuring coffee shop, gently plucking my guitar on a morning scarcely different from any other. Ponies came and went, occasionally tossing a few bits in my jar along

Coffee Black

I created this absurdly named blog awhile back only to quickly discover I didn't really have much to blog about. Well, now I do have something to blog about: Writefriends here at Canterlot. I intend to participate each month. It just seems like a fun exercise. This month, the theme is coffee shops. I know this can mean a cafe or casual restaurant or some such thing, but for the following piece I went with a take on the popular sort of commercial coffeehouse as the setting. This story is told fr

An Old Acquaintance

Sherlock hated meeting potential clients in public, but business had been slow... really slow and he needed the bits. He received a note at his office asking him to meet the client at this particular cafe, outside on the patio. The private detective let out a long, exasperated and annoyed sigh, and tapped his hoof repeatedly on the ground. "This had better not be a crank message." He complained to himself before taking a sip of his tea, he despised coffee. "Well, if you showed up AND waited I su

Celestia Invictus

I've always viewed My Little Pony in the light of a fantasy world skinned with pastel ponies and fantastical magic. I guess this explains why I'm so readily willing to introduce concepts more familiar to us like the military, the knightly virtues, unscrupulous characters, and the clashes between good and evil. I like juggling those concepts in the stories I weave and the worlds I build. It's hardwired into my writing style and I don't think I'll be getting rid of it anytime soon. Still, for

Autumn Leaves

Autumn. Crisp air, falling leaves, bountiful colors, blue skies, and cold breeze all wafted together in a slowly swirling cornucopia of sensation. Cobbles. Cold, hard stone held to cold, wet mud with cold, grey concrete and slowly crumbling mortar. Clip-Clop. Pedestrian traffic traversed the cobbles, ticking out a steady rhythm of hoof beats punctuated with the jingles of harness hardware and the burbling of cart wheels on hewn stone. Leaves. Brown and gold and ruddy red fluttered about, bor

Conversations with my Brother.

Howdy ya'll How's everypony doing? Good? Great! Today I thought I'd talk a little bit about the relationship that my brother and I share. Him and I have been together since, well, since I can remember. We are actually twins, so, yeah. Not identical twins, but the other kind of twins. I forget what we're called. Paternal Twins? Any who, before any ponies run out of the room screaming, "OMG! There's only two of these magnificent stallions left in the world?! I need to get me one!" (yes, its my blo

A Man And His Toys

So I was at K-Mart the other day with my family. My Mom and sis were getting shoes or some such while I was browsing the toy section for any new action figures to add to my small yet growing collection. I had gone through every aisle and had seen nothing that I would be interested in or anything that was in my budget when at the very last aisle, sitting all by its lonesome in clearance, was the MLP Gift Set. You know the one I'm talking about? It's the set that comes with Trollestia Pink Celesti

Of Ponies and Men

Howdy ya'll! Like every pony else here on the forum I have been rather busy writing up replies and thinking ahead to future post in the "Running of the Leaves" event. As such, I really haven't had much time to write anything for this blog since I have been busy with work and the required social interactions of everyday life. You know, going out to get some sunlight, hanging out with friends, watching people fall down on their skateboards and laugh. The usual stuff. A while back I put in an orde
