Bellosh Posted August 11, 2016 Report Share Posted August 11, 2016 What's this? Another OOC thread for the Magic Guild? What warrants yet another reboot? Well, I assume many of you are familiar with Spellbound, WoE's resident association of magic ponies. What many of you may not know is that long ago, back in 2012 or so, the original plan was to make this organization more like an actual guild. At the time though, without the ability for users to write worldbuilding lore, we were forced to limit the scope of the group. And so it became more of social club; a hang-out for magically skilled ponies in WoE that lacked the gravitas of a true magic guild. All of that is about to change! Thanks to new Lore written by yours truly, Spellbound will take the next step in its evolution. Not only will the Magic Guild take more of an increased role in community service, but it will now serve to promote the economic interests of all who practice magic for a living. At it's heart, the Magic Guild will remain the same group of friendly, magically gifted ponies it's always has been. But our fine little Guild is growing up... maturing. For existing member OCs, perhaps the biggest change is that they'll now be ranked as either an Apprentice, Journeypony, or Master. This ranking system is based on how far an OC has advanced in their magic careers. Here are descriptions of each rank: Apprentice: Is still in school, and has not yet found a job relying on magic proficiency. Don't have to pay dues. Journeypony: Works as a paid employee in a job that requires magic proficiency, or is self-employed as a vagabond magic practitioner. Master: Runs their own "brick-and-mortar" business (no wanderers please); enjoys the direct patronage of a royal, noble, or elected official; or is trusted by a credible institution or individual to teach magic to others. Masters have the right to hang a sign showing the Guild emblem (see the top of the page) outside their business or etc. Concerning existing Spellbound member OCs, I'll let their roleplayers decide for themselves which rank their characters fall under. For new Guild members however, I'll determine their initial Guild rank based on that OC's app sheet and in-universe character development. As always, the Magic Guild accepts all characters with skill or interest in magic; unicorn or otherwise. As a solid member of EPIC, the owner of her own franchise, and quite potent in her own skill with the elemental arcanes of ice, I would say that Ice would be a master ice mage. For the current Guild Hall..He did pull strings and work on transforming the old warehouse into something more guildy. Donating his old books and furniture..And getting others to add to their collection. Master Collector? Master Moony-Smoocher? He's an archaeologist and adventurer and thanks to Moony and some of the others has become a more well rounded spell-caster. He has not mastered teleportation, but soon he will! Zeig Posted August 12, 2016 Report Share Posted August 12, 2016 Nocturne Wisp is the head of his own research lab and gives the occasional lecture/seminar...but, I think he'd be a journeypony. He's a specialist in the field of magical anomalies, but more on the research side rather than being a true expert yet. Any lectures he gives are usually more to share his research and findings than actual teachings. Plus, the guild is already heavily leaning towards masters. What would the interest be in running an EPIC/Magic Guild Co-op thread, or perhaps something in the sombra-verse. something where Equestria needs to call on the mages guild for assistance? I'm not quite sure the Magic Guild would exist as a separate entity in a Sombra-verse. Most likely, all its members would be absorbed into the military. Lux Posted August 19, 2016 Report Share Posted August 19, 2016 Fire Heart is graduating from school, but has yet to start a profession (Whatever profession would involve a pony that can create fire!). She is very talented in her fire magic and has learned more control. She currently plans on becoming a teacher and share her experiences, but there may be something else that she can see herself doing. So I guess Apprentice, or Journeyman? She's kind of on the fence.
