I originally wanted to draw Inkbrand standing in the rain, which is why his mane is flattened and curled in places, but then I didn't like how the rain layer kept coming out. So I just threw up some lights.

A partly experimental shading technique - I've used this type of shading for humans before, but never for ponies, this is my first time. I have to say, I like how it turned out.

Thanks, that really means a lot to me! This picture without the darkened mask overtop shows a little more of the detail that went into the hair. It definitely took me a long time, but only a little bit longer than it took me to shade the skin.
