Technically you're only one day older, it just so happens that the Earth is roughly in the same position relative to the sun when you were born. Apparently that's something worth celebrating, go figure.

Hm. She built the leg herself, so she wouldn't need it inspected by somepony else. The curiosity angle might work, but I don't know if there's much to keep her there.
Given Wrench's personality, the scientific thing might be the best angle.
