  1. Spring Rain

The sturdy little earth pony tensed at the feel in the air. That wasn't quite right. It was like a charge. For a moment she thought she could almost taste it. It wasn't pleasant and made her snort stamping her feet. She did not like this. The loud crack of thunder startled her badly causing her to rear up and run back towards Ponyville. She had been struck! The fact nothing had touched her only sank in moments later, along with the odd clearness of the sky following the thunder. No storm? This had to be Everfree nonsense! This was certainly nothing any proper weather would do!

She glanced behind her and saw a blue glow coming from the forest. It was an attack! Something bad had happened! Something unnatural would come out from it! She had to tell someone. Anyone. Spring desperately changed direction looking for any pony that she could speak to and inform about the strangeness coming from the forest. The sooner ponies knew about it the sooner things could be fixed!

  2. Spring Rain

It was a day off from work, and Spring was eager to spend it outside. It felt great to feel the sun warm her body and see the growth of plants around her. It was getting close to harvest time. Everywhere that she could see there were fresh herbs to be picked, trees heavy with fruit, and more vegetables than one could shake a stick at. Someone had even rather humorously grabbed a giant pumpkin, hollowed it out, and filled it with apples.

The pony left the town and trotted down past the farms occasionally pausing to fully relish in how great the weather was. It was enough to really put an extra bounce in her trot. It was a good time, if also very dangerous, to see what the Everfree Forest might have to offer. She would have to be careful not to go too far of course. She didn't want to get into trouble by disturbing the dangerous wild creatures that lived there.

  3. Spring Rain listened intently to the description of the plant. Moon berries? Oh, she knew that one! It was a bit tricky. The plant absorbed moonlight instead of sunlight, and as the moon tended to cycle it tended to be more tricky to make sure it got enough light. The bush preferred more shaded areas as well, adding to that difficulty. If the clipping had been planted in full sunlight the poor thing would have rapidly whithered away entirely.

"That's a tricky one," Spring said cheerfully. She would have to do a bit of research before she was able to make sure any clipping would survive. She knew about the plant, but it wasn't one she'd worked with before. "I know a bit about its needs. It prefers being shaded during the day, and exposure to moonlight. Not the easiest conditions to give for a plant. If you could show me where you found some, I could try to figure out how to transfer it so you can set it up in your home."

  4. We absolutely have to have Flora and Spring meet, their special talents are so similar! Not exactly the same, but close enough that they have to meet just for that sake! Maybe Spring comes up to Fillydelphia for a visit and ends up taking a break in Flora's shop?

Also a wild adventure with Kojo in the Everfree Forest would be awesome! Just let me know who should start that

  5. Spring Rain

She was here looking for a plant, apparently. Spring Rain moved to start looking for the mint. It was a greedy water sucker, but as with all the mint family a delight to use in cooking. She paused as the pony cut herself off and completely changed the subject. Spring smiled in amusement. It seemed she wasn't the only one who could get distracted by all the things that could be done. She reached out her own hoof to shake Strawberry's. "Spring Rain, happy to meet you. You're trying to take a picking of a wild plant?" That could be surprisingly difficult. Transport of a plant was always a little difficult, but often ponies who dug up wild plants didn't know what they were doing and would accidentally severe roots, or the plant would dry out, or not have a suitable place prepared for the plant when they brought it home and they would treat it as a normal house plant, causing it to die. Sometimes they even assumed that as a wild plant it could grow just about anywhere and would just plop it into the ground expecting success. "What can you tell me about your plant?"

  6. Spring Rain

Spring startled as someone burst through the door. She leaped to her feet and spun around bumping into a shelf. Right in the entrance to the shop was an extremely pink pony. Not as pink as Pinkie Pie, few ponies could manage that level of pinkness, but still very pink. She blinked in bafflement at the sentence that greeted her ears flicking back and forth. "Um, that's good to know," she said. Why would someone come here to talk about jam? Unless they wanted to talk about the different things that could be put in jam. There was a rather large variety of berries, fruit, and even herbs that could be added to jam to make it extra special. "What are you here for? Are you starting a garden? Do you want fresh herbs for cooking?"

  7. Spring Rain hummed softly to herself as she trotted through the shop checking in on the growing plants. Most of them were doing well. There were a couple in the back that looked like they needed a bit more sun. Or perhaps they simply weren't doing as well in the heat? She carefully checked over their neighbors. "<b>Hm, most of you seem to be doing well,</b>" she mused. It seemed that it was just those two in particular who weren't doing so well. Perhaps a rotation would help?

Spring lifted the pots up and shifted them around until the two plants in need were set near the front of the shelf so she could tend them better. Hopefully it would only take a day or two for them to fully perk up again. It was so much better to take care of a plant before it got bad. She always felt terrible when she saw a plant struggling. Yes some of them could be fussy, but others were so tenacious, and it was a shame when they drooped.

Satisfied that they were looked after for now Spring Rain started gently humming as she sat down and gazed lovingly at her plants. It was a silly little habit, maybe, but the plants enjoyed it and so did she. It made everything feel so much better in the shop to have a soft tune in the air.

  8. A new pony has arrived in Ponyville! Her name is Spring Rain, and she's a stocky little gardener pony who works at a shop tending plants in the nursery and solving any problems ponies are having with keeping their plants alive. She may not like large crowds, but she's happy to socialize and see what's what around town.

Having trouble with a plant? Spring's your gal!

Want to meet the new pony and see what's up? Come on down to the garden shop!

Want adventure? Spring's a brave soul, daring to go near the edges of Everfree in her hunt for new plants!

Maybe you're looking for someone to talk to. Spring isn't so good at that, but she's more than happy to lend an ear and give a hoof.

Have any other ideas for how to interact with Spring? Hit me up! I would love to have our characters meet!

  9. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria
    Name: Spring Rain
    Gender: female
    Age: Mare
    Species: Earth pony
    Eye colour: red
    Coat: Sandy yellow
Mane/Tail: olive green with rich blue streaks, her mane and tail are slightly choppy and straight
Physique: a stocky medium sized pony with a light cream muzzle and dark brown stockings on her front legs
    Residence: Outside of Ponyville
    Occupation: Garden shop worker
Cutie Mark: Two rosehips on three leaves, Spring earned her cutie mark when it was discovered that she had a talent for reviving dying plants
Unique Traits: a gift for surviving and thriving and helping others do the same in tough physical conditions

History: Spring Rain was born into a middle class family in Appleoosa with a father who tended trees and a stay at home mother. She was lucky to have an older sister, Fresh Springs, as her playmate who she loved dearly and would follow around trying to mimic. When she was too young to go to school she would follow her mother around and try to do everything her mother did.

From the time she was young Spring was in love with plants. She would go out and talk to them playing with them as if they were friends and toys. Her parents found the behavior charming, and when she was old enough her father would take opportunities to take her to work with him so she could play around the trees in the city he helped to tend to. It was when a dying sapling that her father was disappointed about having to get rid of because he couldn't save it was brought temporarily home after his work that Spring discovered her talent. She begged her father to give her a chance with the sapling. He didn't think she could save it, but she might learn from it. It was a shock when somehow she found a way to nurse it back to health. It was as she saw it come back to life that she knew this was what she wanted to do with her life, caring for plants and helping others with theirs.

Generally Spring was an isolated filly. She preferred her sister for company over pretty much everyone else, and tended to be either too blunt or too quiet when meeting new people. She was accepted, and would attend events, but she never made any other truly close friends. When she became a mare she decided that she was tired of city life and would prefer to live somewhere quieter, so she moved to Ponyville. She found a job tending to the plants in a gardening shop and has found a deep satisfaction in working there and having time to explore the unusual plants that she finds on the edges of Everfree Forest.

Character Personality: Spring is a generally cheerful pony who's life mostly revolves around plants. She is blunt and straightforward with others, and passionate about life. Spring finds large crowds overwhelming, and so prefers to hang out with a small group when socializing. She enjoys learning new things from others but isn't interested in formal learning.
Character Summary: A gardening pony who loves plants and has a blunt manner of speaking. She doesn't like large crowds but enjoys spending time trying new things with other ponies

  10. I'm Blacksheep. I found this community by searching for an active My Little Pony roleplay, as I'm a big roleplayer and thought that dipping my toe into roleplaying within the MLP community would be pleasant to try. I absolutely adore animals and writing all kinds of stories. I'm currently shifting my focus over from Lovecraftian based stuff to historical fantasy stories. I have watched the first three seasons of MLP:FiM but I'm not heavily devoted to the show. I find the lore for the world absolutely fascinating though! My favorite main cast character would be Pinkie Pie, as she fits a lot of attributes for a Trickster archetype and I love how zany and playful she is.
