  1. River wisp smiled down at the little zebra, he had never met anycreature this friendly before. He was glad that he was leaving the store, as more people entered it got a lot louder. The hustle and bustle of the city wasn’t really for him, he decided. River turned his focus back to the zebra family. He had always been curious about different creatures, that was one of the reasons he came to Canterlot. He knew almost nothing about zebras, so this was his chance to learn about a creature other than ponies. “I don’t speak ponish, I write it!” River giggled a little at his unfunny joke and continued, glancing down at the zebra's hinds “I don’t know a lot about zebras, may I ask how your cutie marks work? Well, actually I’m not sure if they’re cutie marks. Those marks on your lower back, I mean.” He felt a little awkward and looked to the floor, not wanting to risk staring too much at them. He found their stripes rather mesmerizing, with the seemingly random but neat pattern they took and the everlasting question of ‘black on white or white on black?’. River wanted to bombard them with questions, just as he did when he first met a pony. That poor gray pegasus, she couldn’t keep up with the level of curiosity River had. Her eyes even seemed to drift at one point. He didn’t want to do that again… While walking alongside the zebras, River looked back at the shop he had just left. It was a pretty thing, vintage looking with a dash of modernity. The scent of sweets still lingered on far after you left the shop. Lollies, caramel and popped corn all graced his nose with their delightful smell. Distracted, River stumbled over his own hooves, and hit his head on an ugly-looking neighboring building. A zap of magic burst from his horn and hit the Kandy kaleidoscope's sign. River let out a gasp, both of shock and of pain. He could feel the throbbing in his head already. To make matters worse, noise from the blast was quite loud, and he groaned at the 3rd earache today. After a couple moments, he shook his head and slowly looked up, not wanting to see what he had done. Luckily, the damage wasn't too severe, with only a couple letters being knocked off of the top of the sign, making it read 'e kandy-kaleidoscope'. The nearby ponies turned to see what the commotion was about, glaring at him and gasping at the broken sign. A pastel pink pony even whispered something to her friend, something that made River feel less than welcome. But, of course, life goes on and the hustle and bustle of the city soon continued. Most ponies went on with their day, but some stayed to check if everycreature was alright, and some of the bystanders actually ventured in to the Kandy Kaleidoscope after the commotion had died down. River looked sheepishly back at the zebras before writing "Excuse me" and hurrying back in the direction he came, leaving a ghostly string of letters behind him.
  2. As River recovered from his embarrassment, he heard the small pink pony call to him. River would wave to her and bow his head slightly before turning to the door. He saw a zebra call out in a foreign language to the other small zebra in the shop. The language was not unfamiliar; it was similar to his own. Though not sure, River believed that their languages both stem off of the same root dialect, most likely helped by the past trading between the kirins and zebras. He could make out a couple words, but he couldn't string together the whole sentence. As the small zebra (who he reasoned was called 'Mizuki' from the mother's call) excitedly ran up to the door, River waved goodbye at her before leaving himself. It was a little too loud in there for his taste and he already had his popping corn. When he left, the tall mother zebra caught his eye; River didn't know much about zebras, the ties between their cultures were cut many years ago. He wondered how their magic works without horns or wings, they did have magic... right? River wondered about asking her about it, but would it sound rude? He pondered over it for a bit, and he saw her about to leave, so he quickly tapped her on the shoulder and wrote: 'Hello! I'm not sure if you speak ponish, but if you do, could I ask you some questions about Zebras?' He smiled awkwardly as he stared at her unusual cutie mark. Wait... they have cutie marks, or was that just a marking? Not going outside of the village for years did wonders for his negligence of other creatures. He heard of an old pony tale about zebras: something something she does evil dances and if you look deep into her eyes, she will put you in trances! He just hoped it was about a different zebra. River smiled at Mizuki, that tale can't mean her, she seems too nice!
  3. River placed his right hoof on the guidebook, and with a flick of his magic, started reciting the pledge. It was so exciting, it felt like he was joining one of those secret clubs the other foals made when they were younger! He was worried that it wouldn't count as he was technically writing the it instead of saying it, but it was too late now. During the closing words of the pledge, he started to think about the past conflicts the kirins have had amongst themselves. It was pretty scary when they got angry, they were silent for years because of it! He hoped that Ice would never have to see him like that; if you couldn't properly control it, it was not pleasant. Turning into flames felt like.. like all the rage in the world was bottled up just for you. River turned to look at Ice storm, she had a faint smile on her face, river wondered what she was thinking; reading emotions was never a strong suit of his, probably due to the fact that kirins never really showed their emotions. Despite everything, River Wisp as excited for his new job. Although, he felt wholly unprepared for it, he should go to the gym more often if he was to thrive in his new job. He wondered what he'd be doing in his first few weeks, the 'survival training' sounded hard, but he hoped he could handle it. 'Now that I've joined, When will I have to move to las Pegasus for training?' River wrote as he began to reach for his bag, 'I'll need to tell my friend who I'm staying with' River pulled out a quill and paper in his magic, and looked at Ice expectantly. 'he's never home, so I'll write him a letter’ As he was writing, the pen and paper clattered to the table, making him pause for a moment, ‘what should I tell him?' River winced slightly at the scraping of his chair as he pulled it back in, why did things have to be so loud? Ice may see it an advantage, but super-hearing comes with its fair share of downsides.
  4. River Wisp blushed at the compliment, 'good instincts'? He wouldn't agree with that, but he'll take it. Being suspicious was something he wasn't praised for at home as it was seen as impolite. He took a peek at the file in front of him, it was decorated with 2 stars on the front in a charming shade of blue. The files definitely looked professional, and there was a letter of approval from princess Celestia in there, so he reasoned that he could trust her. Wait, 6 levels beneath them? Dear Rain shine, how many stories did this building have?! He got dizzy just thinking about looking up from the very bottom, and what were the other 5 used for? Weapons, criminals, FINANCE?! He shuddered at the thought and shook it out of his head as he turned back to Ice Storm. River listened about the bit amount, pony bits were worth more than Kirin bits so he'd have to do the maths. He mumbled to himself for a minute, 'hmm 49 divided by-3, 24..mhm carry the one...' he looked shocked for a moment then blurted out "Three THOUSAND Kirin bits a month?!!" Rent was quite cheap in the village, but even so his mum only made a bit more than that and she was head of the only school for miles. He sat embarrassed for a moment and continued to listen. River would probably live in the hotel, he'd have to break the news to his friend soon. Ooh, the enchanted crystals sound fancy, he thought as he winced at the loud beep of a carriage horn down in the street. The idea of taking your money directly out of your next salary was cool, but he'd probably end up with no salary; that popped-corn stuff he tried at the sweet shop was too nice to not have again. Why oh why did everything here have to be so expensive? Back home he could get a comic, an apple and a dentist appointment for the price of 2 bags of Canterlot sweets. At least with this newfound job he was being paid generously, although he was potentially putting his life in danger for it. River sipped his tea, he was glad to have holiday time, he would get too stressed without it. This job really sounded like a dream come true, but moving to Las Pegasus? He didn’t know anycreature there, it was apparently massive and wasn’t it on clouds?! How would he… walk? Or get up there for that matter? At least he’d be prepared for danger… The rest of the talk really got him riled up. These awful people deserved to pay! He’d love to help make the world a better place. That does it, he’s in. Once Ice finished, River started to write “Wow. That sounds amazing, I’ve always wanted to do something great with my life. I just… wow.” River had so many thoughts running through his head he could barely focus. “I have so many more questions, but they can wait I suppose. I- I’m going to trust that this is legitimate and you’re really offering me this. I accept.

  6. Me…. Join the Military?? River Wisp had never heard of STAR before, but was absolutely shocked to find out that Ice Storm wanted him in it! River agreed that his hearing was indeed above average, maybe even ‘super’ as Ice put it, but being one of the first defences to pony kind?! Wow. He looked at Ice suspiciously, was this all some elaborate prank? But then he saw the genuine look in her eyes and realised that she was dead serious. River had never encountered any major problems with his hearing before, as even after they were cured the kirins remained fairly quiet. But River had to agree that being in all the hustle and bustle of the big city did get quite overwhelming. He wasn't sure how his mothers would react, being in this field of work is incredibly dangerous, but noble. Would he even be able to tell his parents? It seems confidential. River started hyperventilating a little, this was a huge decision; it could potentially lethal if he made the wrong one. But then again, simply listening couldn't do much harm, right? God, he was actually considering it! It would be nice to help others and be on the side of justice, but how did he even know that Ice storm was even telling the truth?! cautiously, he wrote: "How do I even know that you're who you say you are? And if I were to believe you, where would I even start work?" River looked around nervously, "And what would I be doing? Is it... dangerous?" Almost more importantly, River remembered, "What would I get paid? It doesn't have to be a lot, but I'd like to be able to move out of the village one day and bits are probably a good starting point." River contemplated what sort of life he would like in inner Equestria. He hoped for stability and nice neighbours, and hopefully some kirin comrades. This job could help him with this dream and gain him the respect of his fellow ponies. Well now River really hopes Ice isn't lying! "What threats do STAR stop specifically? And yes, I would like some tea please"
  7. River Wisp was a Kirin from the Kirin village, he never learned to speak due to the Great science being when he was a foal; he communicated using magic writing. This also caused his hearing to be super-sensitive. So when he visited Canterlot... it's an understatement to say that he was overwhelmed with all the noise. River went to bed after another LOUD day, and as he fell asleep he tossed and turned in his bed. There was no loud noises in the village, and he had started to have some awful dreams. Suddenly, a serpent started hissing nosily against the full moon, and he was surrounded by scary creatures. It all felt so real! Wait, was that Luna?
  8. River fidgeted in his chair, Ice has had some interest in him? That's unexpected! He thought it was normal to be able to hear that well, I guess not. Ice storm looked quizzically at River, and he wondered why his hearing was particularly important to her. He thought for a couple seconds, he didn't pay attention to his own hearing! He thought that some sort of test of his abilities was in order, so he trotted over to the window and opened it. River closed his eyes and listened, just listened to the sounds of the street below. He heard a foal crying for their mum, a couple having an argument over chicken and rice and a shop owner ushering the customers out for closing time. It was a little overwhelming, but as was every moment. River wisp opened his eyes and sat back down. "I can hear most of the conversations down there." he gestured to the window "But around the corner is out of earshot. I do use lip-reading for the trickier, more far away creatures. I recon I can hear so well because of the lack of any noise when I was younger, so I'm hyper-sensitive to it now. But that's just a theory I came up with right now." River played around with the font and colour of his writing, as the young alicorn suggested in the store, He was still dumbfounded that he had never tried it before! "Why do you want to know this?" River asked with a confused look and a smile on his face, it was quite odd!
  9. River wisp smiled at the young princess's answers. It was truly impressive to be born with wings and a horn! He wasn't surprised that she had never met a kirin before, their species were very elusive. He was a little shocked, he'd have to admit, about her questions regarding font and colour. He'd never even tried customising them! "I believe I'm one of the only kirins who uses this method of communication", River wisp answered, "I never learned to speak due to being born during the Great Silence. A yellow pegasus and an orange earth pony freed us, what were their names again? Butter-shee and Pear Jack? I don't remember." He contemplated that for a moment. Those names didn't sound right, but he was only young when they came. River attempted to change the font and colour of his writing for a moment. And to his surprise, he was able to! "It seems I can change my font and colour! I've never tried before, thanks for the idea!" He smiled warmly at the princess, then remembered about the popcorn. It should be done by now! "I need to go now, thank you!", he turned to the royal guard for a split second, he reminds him of somepony... somepony purple... River turned back to the popping corn machine, only to see beans right in front of him holding a red and white striped bag. He started back in surprise, bumping into the large white unicorn with a thump. River chuckled awkwardly and walked to the side, apologising profusely to the scary soldier-looking pony. "sorry... Beans scared me." he turned to beans and took his popcorn in his magic, replacing it with some bits. "I-I'll be going now" River walked off to the other side of the store, his face completely red from embarrassment.
  10. River wisp had received a strange letter the other day. He was staying at his friends house in canterlot when it arrived, so he was confused as to how it made its way to him. Then he saw the note on the back: “Hey honey! A letter arrived for you (Exciting!!) and we thought we’d send it your way. Xx Your mums” He chuckled as he read it, his suspicions fading. But.. only for a moment. Kirins never received mail, the village was small enough to just walk to the recipient’s house. The only time they’d ever get anything through their letter box is if somecreature from inner Equestria wanted to contact them, which is very rare. So suffice to say that this was very unusual. He opened it with caution and care, this was the first ever letter he had received, didn't want to damage it. He slipped the letter out of it's envelope, and began to read; Dear River wisp, I hope this letter finds you well. We met at the candy store a few days ago. I wish for your presence at my office on the 5th. Regards, Ice Storm He was not expecting that! Ice Storm, the mysterious mare from the store, wanted to see him?! He checked the date, TODAY was the 5th! He better get going! River wisp grabbed his stuff, waved a hasty goodbye to his friend, and set off to Ice's office, he wondered what she could want him for? He was glad, he thought, that Ice invited him. He was itching to learn more about this mysterious mare, there was definitely more to her than meets the eye. Once he arrived, he went up to the 3rd floor and nocked on the pretty blue door labelled "Ice storm". She was quick to answer. River wasn't expecting it, though, as he jumped back slightly in shock as the blue unicorn appeared seemingly out of nowhere, and invited him in. Ice showed River to his chair, and they both sat down. What could they possibly discuss? “I’m glad you could make it,” Ice Storm began.
  11. Something I made a couple years ago when I was bored.
  12. River wisp was lead over to the popping corn, and he was fascinated by the strange machine. Popping corn?! He wasn't sure he'd like it, so the regular bag it is. He was captivated by the popping machine, they had nothing like that in his village. He supposed that it was just strange pony magic, but he wasn't sure who was controlling it. He heard Beans talk about Candy having a... monopoly on farming. What's a monopoly? He didn't want to sound dumb, so he wasn't going to ask anything. River blushed as he heard beans say: "As for Ice Storm, I think she's a private pony and we've kinda been eavesdropping. " he did know he was sometimes too curious, but he couldn't help it! When ponies are interesting, he needs to know more about them! He gave Beans a sheepish smile, before ordering a normal bag and apologising for his nosiness. However, he was not done with Ice Storm yet. As he was waiting for his bag to be filled, (with popping corn!!) he heard the door's bell ring. In came a white stallion and a sickly pink pegasus. No, wait.. it was a unicorn. Wait, it was both?! She was a little younger than him, and he stared at her in bewilderment. A unicorn with wings! Where had he seen that before? Oh right! the royal pony sisters, but he was sure she couldn't be a royal, what royals walked into a sweet shop with their daddies? Candy looked absolutely shocked at their arrival, but River decided to treat them just like any other pony; I mean, it's not like he'd ever heard of them anyway! He trotted over to the the mare and her father, who were currently in the process of browsing for sweets. He approached behind the winged one, and tried to decipher if they were even real. He came to the conclusion that, yes, she was in fact real. River accidentally brushed the pink pony, and she turned around in shock. With an overly-confident smile he started to write; "Hello! My name's River Wisp. I've never seen a non-royal winged unicorn before, may I ask if it's a spell?" With the shocked look on everycreature's faces when they read it, he suspected that he might have said something wrong...
  13. River was still tuned into the mysterious conversion going on at the back when he heard beans start to answer his questions. It was so impressive for one pony to make all of this candy! He couldn’t help but wonder how she had time to make all of this and still run a business! A new wave of appreciation washed over him as he realised that no kirin in his village would’ve been even remotely up for the task. Ponies are definitely hard workers! River then became a little confused however, when Beans explained that she had no idea what the business was with the ‘HQ’ and all that malarkey. It was… interesting to say the least. He contemplated that for a moment then wrote; I would love to try some popping corn, how much is it? And sorry for being nosy, but that mare, ice storm I believe her name is, keeps looking at me strangely… He glanced over to see Ice storm writing something on a piece of paper, what was she doing?
  14. •River wisp• River was enjoying watching a small zebra filly getting candy; she seemed so happy! He had never seen a zebra before, but if they were all like that, it was a welcome change to the griffins he met a few days ago. ‘I know I shouldn’t judge an entire race by the first encounter I make’, he thought, but DAMN were those griffins rude. As he looked at the zebra (he heard the others call her ‘Mizuki’) he got to wondering what would happen if the zebras and the ponies ever had a disagreement and went to war. Surely nothing too bad...right? He was so caught up in his thoughts that he didn’t notice a candy bag levitate in front of him. It hit his face, making him jump back in shock. Oh, he realised, telekinetically grabbing the bag, it’s just some sweets. He smiled as he read the writing on the front;“Welcome to the Kandy Kaleidoscope. I will be with you in a few moments”. The place looked busy, so he wasn’t annoyed at the lack of service, more a little bored. So the complimentary candies were a nice surprise. As he was munching on them, a brown unicorn trotted over and greeted him. "Welcome to the Kaleidoscope. I'm Coco Bean, but everypony around her calls me Beans. What's your name and can I help you find anything?" she said in a cheerful tone. He smiled at Coco Bean and began to write, “hello Beans! My name’s River Wisp. I’m new around here and I’m looking to try some traditional equestrian candy, though I’m not sure what they are. Forgive the writing, my vocal chords didn’t develop as a filly so I struggle to speak.“ Just then, an icy-looking pony started to speak, saying some…strange stuff to say the least. “and..if you don’t mind me asking”, he wrote,“what’s all this about an HQ?”
  15. •River wisp• River Wisp was an almost-mute kirin from the Kirin village. He had travelled here for an adventure and a change of pace from the simple village of the Kirins. However, he had been struggling making friends, as he had to write with magic instead of speaking, which the busy city ponies didn’t have time for. River wisp was wandering down the street, in look of a pick-me-up after his last failed attempt at friendship, when he came across a quaint little candy shop. He looked it up and down, and decided that it looked like a good place to try some equestrian sweets and cheer up a little. He walked through the door of the ‘Kandy Kaleidoscope ’ , and was hit with the scent of all things sweet. River looked up at the various mares and stallions in there, and felt like he was intruding on something private. He considered leaving, but the smell of sugar was too good to resist. He wrote: “hello!” And waited for them to notice him.
  16. What you just said basically describes me, although I’m not an avid Minecraft player. I may be even newer than you, but hope you have a great time here!
  17. Hello, this is probably an overdue intro, but my name’s Oxen, nice to meet you all! I enjoy coding, and am currently learning git, HTML and Python. I like 3D modelling (I use blender) and general animation. my favourite music artist is Vylet pony, and I’m obsessed with her new album! I found this site by searching Mlp roleplay because I felt like it had to exist. Overall, just looking to roleplay and have fun!
  18. Looking for some beginner-friendly roleplays, but all active ones seem to be closed!
