  1. Well it is kind of strange the Windows name has stayed around for this long anyway, after all the name Windows is short for Windowed DOS. And Windows has not used DOS as a basis for ages, not since Windows ME. The Windows NT os is the basis for more modern windows OS, the NT operating systems, Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and yes even 8.
  2. I wish I could dig up the article I read on that, but yes its legit.
  3. Yes but changelings dont really count, as they would probably lack Pinkies reality warping superpowers.
  4. Two pinkies? I dont think Equestria has long to exist, the fabric of space time would tear the whole place apart in 0.1.8.3 seconds
  5. Actually Microsoft is dropping the windows name after 8
  6. I disagree with everything you propose. First of all $10 per song use? Something like that would only make things like piracy worse. And what about fair use, your proposal would eliminate that. Sorry to say but you miss the whole point on why older copyright laws existed and how by now they have been perverted to serve greedy movie/ record companies who care nothing about human lives and only care about profit margin. The current copyright system is broken, plain and simple, it only favors big companies with billions of dollars and not the small interdependent artist. When you buy a song from itunes or something hardly any of that money goes to the artist, it goes to the record companies, it goes to apple and the original creator only gets a fraction of the credit. The only true way to solve this issue is by using the Creative commons
  7. I didnt hit her, its not true, its bull****, I didnt hit her, I did NOOOOOT! Oh Hai ShopdaWhop

  9. I have been a who fan for ages, seeing the classic series on PBS when I was a kid in the 90's I got hooked. My favorite Doctor always has and always will be Tom Baker, he was erratic, insane but very lovable and inherited beloved companions like Sarah Jane Smith and K-9. As for the new series Doctors its hard to say what one I like more as each one brings something unique to the table. Ecclestons doctor was a troubled and rather distant Doctor who rejected humanity and wanted absolutely nothing to do with us. He was very much like the First Doctor in that sense, the first Doctor was an old man who was very short tempered and rather distant but much like Eccleston he grew to love humanity and when he became the second doctor he became very fond of humans much like Tennants doctor. But the difference between Ecclestons and Heartnells doctor is that Eccleston has far more reason to hate humanity and to remain distant, after the time war he was left alone being responsible for the deaths of his own people. Tennant was obviously a chance of rebirth for the Doctor, as Tennant hew could finally shed his past as the one who killed his race but over time it seemed the past did not want to let go of him. This is why Tennant out of the new Doctors so far is the most bizarre, one minute he is master manipulator and the next he is crazy insane and often right in conjunction with one another. He is very complex ranging from insane to sublime, the only bad part about Tennants Doctor is thart once again we got to know the Doctor too well. The Doctor himself has never been a character the audience was supposed to connect with, after all he is an alien and knowing him makes him feel more human and there has always been a mystery about the Doctor that laid just below the surface, a inner darkness that has shown itself more then once even in the classic series where he killed many in his path in the pursuit of his own ideals and morals. This is where Eleven comes in, once more the Doctor is becoming a mystery as Smiths Doctor is now seen as something new: The bringer of death and destruction. Sure this element has been around for some time now but now it seems to be more pronounced as Smiths inner darkness becomes more clear over time. This new Doctor seems to be getting more mysterious and less human and I like that, it brings the character back to his roots which is something current showrunner Stephen Moffat is doing very well. You see my biggest issues with both Tennants and Ecclestons run is that over time Russel T Davies over time did the same mistake that some earlier producers did, make us too comfortable with the Doctor. Trust me as a long time who fan these new revelations about the Doctor are both very interesting and frightning. We knew that the Doctor is going down a dark path and it seems not even the Doctor is aware of it. And you know what? I kind of like that.
  10. If you are gonna learn something new might as well learn linux.
  11. Just look up the Honeymooners. One of these days Alice, bang zoom!
  12. For those still using XP on older machines you may want to consider using Linux instead as next year XP is gone. Sure you loose gaming support and netflix support but those would go away eventually on XP anyway or if you installed windows 7. As for 7 I dont forsee it going anywhere, once 8 flops 7 will get an extended life like XP did. A lot of people already wont use metro anyway, and it will only sell on newer tablet based computers that are well out of peoples price ranges now.
  13. I normally dont boast my achievements but I got one! I have been very sick the last few days and needed something to eat up my time: http://www.equestria...-wants-pmv.html So I made this: And to my utter shock on twitter when i got up from my two hour nap after giving the video to Jayson: My response to this?
  14. Well yes Tablets arte the future though traditional desktops will still be around thanks to hardcore gamers and tweakers.
  15. Sony MDR-ZX100 They do me pretty well
  16. The problem is that Metro is very tablet oriented and not good for the average desktop user. Its something made for a touchscreen and not really a keyboard or mouse. For mobile devices I can see it for sure but traditional non touchscreen desktops or laptops is another story. The problem is Microsoft doesnt see it like that, force every device to use the same UI. Now this is not a new idea as Ubuntu Linux has been doing the same basic thing with its new interface called unity, but where I think Unity succeeds where Metro fails is that it still has the desktop user in mind. After all compare this: Windows 8 with its new metro interface: Ubuntu Unity as it in in Ubuntu 12.04: Both are considered next generation interfaces, but one clearly has desktops in mind and not just a bunch of random squares. Metro seems like it was designed by a four year old, with big pretty icons. Unity feels more like a Mac crossed with windows 7 and that is more or less its aim, to be sort of the middle. Microsoft has no idea what this will do to older users of windows, it will once again drive a rift and perhaps drive more people to buy a Mac or use Linux.
  17. Yeah those old Dells are horrible things, newer Dells are far better trust me as a Linux user
  18. a 10 year old PC with windows? No wonder why it crashes, I bet you didnt clean it out with a can of air or anything over the years so that the parts remain free of harmful particles. Its possible to get such a computer running clean again though, you may want to try a linux in it as XP is done for next year.
  19. I just know some mac users thanks to being a linux user, they complain about the hardware limitations of apple products a lot. As for your PC crashes, what kind of PC are you running? Specs? Operating system? I may be able to assist though it will be a bit off topic
  20. In the future you may want to invest in a better mouse though, the trackballs on those things are horrible after extended use. Not everything with an Apple logo on it is good
  21. Despite some recent financial woes I had to re enter the mouse market this last week due to the pain caused by my old computer mouse. I had a Logitech Wireless Mouse M310 and its small size was really hard on my hands causing severe cramping in my fingers and wrist. (it came with the keyboard, a Logitech MK520 mouse/keyboard combo set) I heard Trackball mice were better for you if you experience pains in the fingers or wrists when using a mouse so I now own one. I have to say it works pretty well for my issue, my wrist and fingers on my right side are now feeling better after my hands leave contact with the mouse. Its a Logitech Wireless Trackball M570 and while it will take time getting used to and the ball to get broken in I say its a very good mouse all things considered. Has anyone else tried a trackball before? I will say it is very weird to work with at first but after some time it does get better after playing around with it.
  22. Yeah its her complexity that makes me like Rarity, at first I hated her as she represented the frou frou girly girl fashionista but now is more fleshed out and quite complex.
