  1. Just saw The Adventures of Tintin. It's probably more for fans of the comics, which I've never read, but the animation was pretty outstanding and the simplistic story was told in an oddly captivating way. I'd watch it again, even while not understanding the inside jokes that only old fans would really catch on to.
  2. RPing has had several different meanings for me throughout my life. I've only recently picked it back up again, but in doing so I've remembered the good times and feelings as well as the bad times and feelings that have been associated with it throughout the years. When I was younger, about 6th grade, RPing was an outlet for childish creativity. I'd been playing video games for awhile, but the ones I were exposed to were always a bit limited in scope. I never played anything too wide-open that allowed me to express myself in dramatic ways. RPing provided the perfect opportunity to live out fantasies that had been playing in my head for as long as I could remember. I'm an only child, so while I had access to a greater number of toys and other things than another child my age might have had access to, I never really had anyone to experience those things with. So, try as I might to play Yu-Gi-Oh with myself and pretend that building lego creations and having no one to show them to was fun, I really yearned to create something in a collaborative way. RPing became that tool I could use to express my creative ideas and develop them with other people. It provided that brand new second or third-party aspect that had been missing for so long. During the time when I was convinced that I was going to be a master writer someday, RPing provided a collaborative and mostly judgement-free place where I could develop and learn different writing styles and techniques. I don't have that delusion anymore, but I still take interest in seeing the creative ways in which other people express themselves. I view it in a bit more of an analytical way than I used to. I like to inspect the methods and ideas of others. Many people will RP an aspect of themselves that they normally would suppress or hide, and watching these hidden aspects of various people interact with others is often mind-blowingly beautiful and meaningful. Aside from that, RPing is simply a form of escapist entertainment, just like, in my opinion, all wanton entertainment is. People seek fun and distractions as a way to put aside worries for a few minutes or hours out of the day. Constantly worrying about all of the bad things in life would make anyone into a downer, and so the human mind naturally seeks some form of fun escape. RPing provides a spice to the day, a path out of the daily monotony, simply because of its unpredictable nature. It provides a pleasant uncertainty that can be nourished and utilized to sharpen the mind and improve creativity. It only becomes boring and monotonous when it becomes more of a predictable responsibility, nothing more than another piece of the daily routine you sought to escape from in the first place. EDIT: Tl;dr: RPing is pretty cool, bro.
  3. I KNOW YOU TOO! Hi, hello, and welcome! Have fun, and don't go spoiling everyone else's fun, party pooper. See you around!

  5. Roleplay Type World of Equestria/Mane RP Name Triage Sex Male Age Stallion Species Pegasus Eye Color Dark Blue Coat Color Brown Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style The mane and tail are both white. The mane is cropped a bit on the short side, but is still a bit shaggy and windswept. He pretty much ignores his tail, so it remains unkempt. Physique His muscles are slightly lacking when compared to other stallions his age, but he otherwise is of average build and height. Cutie Mark A crutch and a syringe crossing over each other, syringe on top. Triage was playing on a local playground with another young Pegasus who was just starting to learn to fly when the Pegasus leaped off of the swing set, intending to spread his wings and take to the skies in an impressive display of aviary prowess. Instead, he ended up tumbling head over heels and landing hard on the ground below, spraining a wing and breaking his nose. Triage immediately rushed to the aid of the young pong, stopping the bleeding and crafting a makeshift sling out of branches and leaves. Only after the Pegasus was fixed and taken home did Triage notice the change to his flank. Origin/Residence Originally from Trottingham, but later moved to Canterlot and then to Stalliongrad. Occupation REA Field Medic, serving in the 3rd brigade, 44th tactical aviators regiment Motivation Triage’s main motivation is to simply help people and save lives. Every time he helps someone hold on who has given up on life, he finds the strength within himself to continue on. Whenever something is in his way, he looks for any way he can find to circumvent it. His self-proclaimed goal is to keep people from dying before their appropriate time. Likes · Saving lives · Fully stocked medical supplies · Stethoscopes · Whiskey · Getting to the root of a problem Dislikes · Covering up symptoms · Wasting time · Being late · Sloppy work · Frivolity Character Summary Growing up in the resort town of Trottingham, Triage was never really exposed to the suffering of other ponies in the early, formative years of his life. His time as a young colt was a blur of sunshine, bubbles, water slides, games, and childish laughter. The day he earned his cutie mark changed all of this. He caught his first glimpse of real pain and felt for the first time the thrill that comes with easing the suffering of another pony. From that day until his last in Trottingham, Triage flew around the town searching for injured ponies with a first aid kit dangling from his mouth. On his last birthday in Trottingham, his parents presented him with his two most treasured belongings: his medical saddlebags (complete with Caduceus staff symbols on the sides) and his stethoscope. With these items in hoof, he set out for Canterlot, to pursue his medical degree. He enrolled in the prestigious School of Medicine in the city and was initially the picture-perfect student. He absorbed the material as fast as his professors could present it to him, and he consistently scored top marks in practical examinations. The assessments involving pure memorization began to grate on him over time, however, as he could never quite pinpoint their use. He found practical talent of much more use than sitting in cramped rooms and studying endless terms and figures. With this mindset, he quickly made a name for himself as somewhat of a slacker in his studies, but always a reliable pony when it came to the practical applications of medical knowledge. He gained a knack for thinking under pressure and rarely made mistakes when it counted most. His studies in Canterlot placed him on the forefront of modern medicine in Equestria. His raw skill, developed in the city, often made him the target of professors keen to find experts in new technologies and techniques, and often got him sent around giving seminars. He accepted these offers gladly, finding them to be refreshing changes of pace from the monotony of college life. He was becoming increasingly disillusioned with the insistence of his professors on studying instead of actually doing something to make a difference. This discontent made these sporadic offers to leave the campus and do some real good that much more rewarding and special for him. One of these trips, to Stalliongrad specifically, came three years after his admittance into the school. Tensions in the city were high, and he saw that the city was in need of talented doctors. The eagerness with which the Stalliongrad doctors absorbed and noted the material from his presentations impressed him greatly. He came to realize that this place was where a pony like him would be needed. Neither the posh heights of Canterlot nor the carefree playgrounds of Trottingham really needed another master of medicine. Those who needed him were in the lesser known cities: the cities with sickness, hunger, and the occasional violent outburst. With this revelation, Triage decided that to continue his advanced studies in Canterlot would be a waste of his time, and so he dropped out of medical school, much to the dismay of his caring parents. This was of no concern to him, however, and he packed his medicine bags and moved to Stalliongrad. Once there, he hired a group of various Griffons and ponies to forge a degree and several other documents for him. With these documents and his raw skill, he found work in one of Stalliongrad’s hospitals, where he was warmly welcomed. He offered the hospital new techniques along with his talent, and he gradually grew in prestige in the medical community of the area. His work was always quick and precise, and his patients always claimed to leave his care in a better mental state as well as a physical one, despite the somewhat inappropriate bedside manner of the doctor. In fact, the only complaints filed against him regarded his lack of professionalism, as he was still young and lacking in hard knowledge. Despite this, his work was virtually flawless in practice. Thus, Triage spent the next two years of his life content. He loved every aspect of his job and got along exceptionally well with his colleagues. However, the phenomenon of a near perfect record barring complaints regarding bedside manner led to some added scrutiny regarding his history. With no large amount of digging, his lack of a true medical degree was discovered. His position at the hospital was stripped from him, but the director felt as though it would be a shame for such talent to go to waste. Thus, he issued a personal appeal to the REA, and they in turn responded with this proposition for Triage: he would continue his medical practice as a field medic among their ranks. He would also be made the personal caregiver of one Ace High, and he would have to provide this care in accordance to the strictest guidelines. Triage, desperate to continue the pursuit of his special talent and knowing that the front lines would be a place where he would truly be needed, accepted the offer without a moment’s hesitation. With that, he found himself among the ranks of the REA, where he has currently been serving for two years. Triage has spent the majority of this time patrolling the border with the Griffons at observation post indigo. This usually entails assisting small towns and villages and participating in the occasional skirmish. Wherever he goes, he is accompanied by Ace, as he is not much of a fighter in his own right. He is able to defend himself to a minimal degree, but is certainly not cut out for any sort of major combat. His place lies somewhat behind the lines, where he can more aptly assist the wounded, and this is how he prefers things. Apart from his duties patrolling the border, Triage also enjoys the occasional drink, and he can often be found at whatever bar happens to be nearest his patrol route at the time. This is a work in progress, so I would greatly appreciate any advice that anypony would be willing to give to me! Thank you so much!
