  1. Hello everyone! As many of you might be aware, its the time of year where many people are busy with work, school, and other activities. The same is true for the members of our humble little podcast. I'm currently in university, for instance. As such, I've been unable to record as often as I used to or visit the forum as often for that matter. The other hosts are also having the same difficulties. So for now I am putting the Canterlot Voice on hiatus until further notice. However, we don't want this little thing we started to die off so quickly. If you guys are willing to pick up where we left off, we are willing to pass the podcast on to a new group of hosts and editors. If you are interested you can contact me via Skype. We will share what we've learned so far while making this podcast and leave it to the community. Thank you for listening to us these past months! Until next time!
  2. I just got off /r/mylittlepony to see how well the forums were taking it. You guys are doing a much better job. I can tell you that. I knew there was going to be a bunch of drama and rage when I first saw this. Apparently, /mlp/ exploded. I didn't go there to confirm knowing what I will see there will be neigh nigh impossible to unsee.
  3. Could you draw my zebra in a hut similar to Zecora's mixing some medicine for one of Fluttershy's rabbits (Angel is invincible so he can't get sick)? He could be at a desk with random herbs and containers lying around pouring some sort of dust/dried herbs into a mortar and pestle. Fluttershy would be in the background watching him work with the sick rabbit in her hooves. Take as much time as you need and thanks in advance!
  4. I noticed that people are wondering why Pinkie wouldn't want to give Discord a second chance. Its probably because Discord does what he does for his own amusement instead of making everyone smile/laugh. So he basically goes against what Pinkie believes is important which is making everyone smile.
  5. I actually hope that Fluttershy (and the others if they give him a second chance) fail or at least partially fail. Don't get me wrong, I love Fluttershy as she is superior pony. However, we already saw the reformation thing with Trixie and Babs. Also a good lesson to learn is that not everyone is wiling to be a good guy. You simply can't kill some people with kindness (which is what Flutters will undoubtedly try). There will be evil people in an imperfect world. Equestria, no matter how much some people may deny it, isn't perfect. If they do decide to reform him, I hope its only partially. He won't be all out evil (wanting to make the entire world chaotic) but he would still be rather sadistic and a prankster who would be willing to help/socialize with the characters from time to time. All in all... HOLY **** DISCORD IS BACK AND ITS A FLUTTERSHY EPISODE!!!!
  6. Nah the Soul Eater picture balances it out
  7. It seems pretty subjective on how much pony is too much pony. Just like kunio, the bed sheets and stuff is a bit too much for me. However, I'm fine with pony toys, t-shirts, and other merch. I have 2 t-shirts (flutteryay and RD with Bronies written on it), keychains of the Mane 6, 2 blind bag ponies (lyra and Big mac), a Nightmare moon messanger bag, and a couple brushables. At one point I did have over 500 pony related pictures saved on my computer. That was too much. 0____0 PONI OVERLOAD
  8. I recently just saw this video: http://youtu.be/1I1xNmL9Qqo and I started to wonder, how much pony is too much pony? I know this is his room and all and he can do what he wants with it and I'm not saying he's obsessed or anything since I don't know the guy. However, it got me thinking about where the line is between liking the show A LOT and complete obsession. Any thoughts?
  9. Nice! I remember Spike saying something about controlling the weather in Canterlot with magic during the Winter Wrap Up episode. I'm guessing that Apis controls the wind for Canterlot exclusively right?
  10. I noticed that some posts basically went along the lines of "Not all villains need to be developed or have a back story." I kind of agree with that, but I still prefer it if they had given him a personality of some sort, at least. The fact that they didn't makes me believe that he wasn't meant to have a personality or any other characteristics other than being the antagonist, or they gave him those but cut it out because it wasn't necessary or approved (they were correct to do this).
  11. So I've noticed not a lot of people like King Sombra. And for good reason too. His character was not developed AT ALL. He said very few lines and most of them not very intimidating. As a matter of fact he doesn't act nor look particularly intimidating. Many have likened him to a bad OC. However, I think that all of this was intentional. I have two possible explanations as to why King Sombra was so "terrible" in this episode. He is nothing more than a plot device. As you guys might have noticed, these the two episodes were Twilight centric episodes. She had to pass a test and there was a lot of subplot about preparing for something big that may happen later in the series. So perhaps King Sombra wasn't meant to be a characterized villain like Discord or Chrysalis was. Perhaps he was just meant to be an obstacle for Twilight to overcome to further her development. Dark magic could play a pivotal role later in the series and they may have needed him to introduce it, as well. He is going to play a larger role throughout and/or later in the season. Perhaps the writers want him to show up again as a villain in the later episodes or perhaps he will be showing up as a main antagonist throughout the series. When he was defeated, his horn did remain intact. So he could regenerate himself from that horn. If he is going to come back, it would be another reason why they basically introduced dark magic as canon. Perhaps he will try to lure Twilight into becoming evil like him (a la Star Wars) or perhaps his dark powers will be utilized by somepony else. I find this doubtful looking at the synopses for the later episodes. Basically, I find it hard to believe that the writers would do so well on the other villains and somehow drop in skill when writing Sombra unless he was written that way for a specific reason. So what are your thoughts and opinions?
  12. Yeah, there was definitely a subplot for the two parter and it will continue in my opinion. In this Season 3 promo/commercial: it says "One pony will discover her true destiny" with Twilight dead center performing some magic. So there is definitely something big planned to happen over the course of season 3 that may have been planned from the very beginning.
  13. What I'm wondering is whether this can be considered canonical. I mean they have the permission from the writers and creators of the show and from Hasbro. So if stuff happens in the comic can it be considered canon or "fanon" or some sort of side-canon?
  14. I knew I liked the show after I saw Dragonshy. Its remained one of my top 10 episodes ever since.
  15. I first heard about ponies through this video:
  16. I'm loving this background. Ever since I saw this I've been wanting it as a wallpaper
  17. Must... Not... Watch... 8 min... PREVIEW!!! I'm actually trying my best to resist watching that preview. I scrolled down really fast so that I won't have to see the spoilers. I've already watched both songs and the promo. I have to stay strong for another 10 days! Why must you tempt me so Hasbro?

  19. Found this on Reddit while browsing late at night. The funniest thing I've seen all night XD [/media]I laughed at this harder than I should have
  20. I really hope King Somber is voiced by Michael Sheen! That would be epic!
  21. I think that the limits of unicorn magic might be revealed somewhat in season 3. If you remember, Twilight sang that pass/fail song. Perhaps there will be test having to do with "combat" magic, maybe targets and such, along with other kinds of magic. they'll either show the test or maybe a studying montage.
  22. Woah. Its been 2 years since the first episode aired and started this huge thing that we are in now. This fandom. I know that it didn't start right away, but that day is when it all began. The show would trigger one of the greatest fandoms I've ever seen. So lets see how these two years have been. I'm going to recount my own brony story and my thoughts about how the fandom in retrospect and what I think is in store for the future. I'm not going to do the whole, "Where were you when it first aired," thing, since I don't remember that day at all. It was probably just a normal day with normal things happening. I didn't know who Lauren Faust, Tara Strong, Andrea Libman, or any of the cast was. I hadn't watched anything they had done in months or years. I wasn't aware that My Little Pony was being resurrected. As a matter of fact, I didn't care for MLP at all, like most of us before we became bronies. I thought of them as girlish bad cartoons and weird looking toys that didn't look anything remotely like a horse. Several months later, I saw this video sitting in my subscription box on youtube: At first I avoided it, thinking Molly was just making a girly episode to cater to Rocketboom's female fanbase. A couple days later, out of pure boredom, I decided to watch it. Of course my first thoughts were, "Adults and teens... watching My Little Pony... and liking it?! What the hell?" I dismissed bronies as people who are just weird or like the show as ironic hipsters. I forgot about it for a couple weeks. Then pony began to slowly seep into every aspect of the Internet. At first I didn't notice it. A couple pony related videos would show up when I searched youtube for something to watch. I ignored it. Then I saw it. A little link up at the top bar of the memebase site labeled, "My Little Brony." I was obviously surprised. I rewatched the Bronies video rocketboom made to jog my memory of what a brony was. Then I thought to myself, "How did they get a page on Memebase!? I thought it was a small, localized group of people on 4chan!" I thought one of the bronies or a prankster from 4chan had hacked memebase and put this atrocity on it. I immediately investigated it. I then went to see if this brony thing was a meme. I went to Know Your Meme and saw right on the home page, My Little Pony: Frienship is Magic. I was thoroughly confused. I clicked the link, thinking that it was probably a meme because it was a parody or some Happy Tree Friends thing. But no, it was legitimately, ultimately, and simply My Little Pony. As I read, I began to have a small understanding about how huge this fandom was. After I read the entire article, I saw the first couple episodes embedded into the page. I was extremely hesitant to watch it, scared of becoming one of those weird dudes who're obsessed with little pony dolls. But I just had to see what all the fuss was about! I looked around to see if no one was there, closed the door to my room, locked it, turned out the lights and I very, very reluctantly clicked the link to the first episode. The first episode was pretty okay. I don't want to, but let's finish this with the second part, then I can end this... Wow, that was much better than expected. I like the purple one, whats her face... Twilight. Yeah. She's a nerd like me. Well let's see what happens next, then I'll have a gist about what this whole thing was about... I gotta admit, I like that episode. The slapstick was great. Geez. I hope I don't end up huddled in a corner brushing a doll creepily. Well, I guess another episode won't hurt. I had watched half the season. I went to sleep soon after both amazed at how good the show was and flabbergasted that i was watching a show for little girls. I finished the season a week or two later. When my sisters turn on the TV on saturday mornings to Winx Club and other girly shows, I usually got mad and demanded for a channel change or I went in my room, put my earphones in and surfed the web. I realized I watched 28 episodes of one of those girly shows and loved it. I began to delve into the fandom. I saw the art and listened to the music. I was amazed at the videos uploaded to youtube, especially this guy's: I didn't get into fan fiction because I thought they were just the fantasies of overly obsessive fanboys and fangirls, ridden with gary/mary stus. Also I had heard of the fic that shall not be named *cough*Cupcakes*cough* and was scared of reading it and others like it (I still haven't to this day). I began to learned that there were many people who were bronies and were normal guys like me. Some of them were even cooler than me. I then realized that I had made the transition. I was a brony. I did the whole phases of becoming a brony from denial to acceptance (with a nervous breakdown in between, but that's another story ). When I finally accepted it, I embraced it. (Imma rush this last part cus I'm kind of tired and posting this at 3 in the morning. Got class tomorrow ) Personally I didn't think this would last. During the early weeks upon becoming a brony I started to think that maybe the show won't be so popular. I thought I was one of the few bronies ever. I didn't see the extent of this fandom nor how much it would grow in the coming months. I told myself that this was just a weird phase, fad thing that will die off in the next couple weeks. It was probably going to be because people become bored or that the show would be canceled, as many good shows are. The show wasn't cancelled, of course. Even more than that, they noticed us. The huge company behind the show noticed us bronies. I thought it to be very unlikely that it would happen and if it did, they'd pass us off as freaks, the outlier. But they began to embrace us. Derpy would show up in almost every episode as a nod of approval. The references began to be more relatable to us. Yet the show maintained its charm and its target audience as a children's show. I was amazed. The speed and quality content the fandom churned out was unfathomable. Fan art, mere minutes after a new episode airs. New animation and songs in an hour or two. Reviews, discussion, and analysis a day or two after. Its simply awesome. I can't put into words how much I love this show and how much I love this fandom. I haven't been so involved in any hobby in my entire life since reading science stuffs (which I do a ton of). So what do you think? What's the future of this fandom and the show? How did you come to know MLP and what are your thoughts and perspectives. I expect to see a wall of text for every post!
