I don't know why you're all complaining about Luna not getting enough screen time, because this is a major improvement over her being effectively non-existent. Here, we are given some dialogue between her and her sister and a rather contrasting attitude compared to Celestia as well, offering us some personality to indulge ourselves upon. Compare to Return of Harmony, where Celestia mentioned her about once or twice in passing. Shoving Twilight's mentor aside for more Luna would be a telltale sign of favoritism getting out of hand.

For what it's worth, this could be because all of the dialogue is voiced (except for "yours"), they might only want to change dialogue when they can also have the voice clip for it ready.Even still, I personally think their next episode should be released without voices early, so that they can then get feedback on what can be improved/should be changed. For the voice acting they do have, Rarity's is excellent, but the others range from decent to inappropriate to cardboard. They also should get some form of gameplay in as soon as possible, because it's extremely linear so far. Finally, if they remake episode 1, THEY SHOULD DITCH THOSE HORROR DREAM SEGMENTS. They really have no place in this setting. And they're really amateurish in atmosphere anyway.

How good the interaction with the characters is subjective, but in some cases the pony you're talking to will recognize your race and it will affect how long you speak with the character. RD comes to mind.However, who you get to speak with is COMPLETELY linear: every encounter is preset, and you basically get a maximum of 3 dialogue options when asked a question, most of which barely alters anything. The worst part though is the gender reactions: specifically, the game was clearly made in mind that you were a straight male, because some of the characters act as if you're one regardless of your actual chosen gender.

For me it was more of an overall feel, I watched Sonic Rainboom, Feeling Pinkie Keen and Stare Master (the most recent episodes at the time) and thought the show was decent enough for me to watch from the start. After watching the premiere up to around Bridle Gossip, I realized that the show was consistently entertaining unlike many others with constant useless filler or just plain boring/bad storylines. It's around then that I considered myself a part of the fandom.

She could have been referring to Discord, as Trixie's status as a "villain" is questionable. I don't doubt that both will return though.

Some more stuff: Pony head writer Meghan McCarthy tells EW that season 3 will focus on main pony Twilight Sparkle as she advances in her magical studies: “She’s been in Ponyville for awhile now, and so her journey is going a little bit further,” McCarthy says. It’ll also feature “very catchy and very, very cute” new songs, “the usual pop culture references,” and the reemergence of a certain unnamed fan favorite villain — who McCarthy says will return “in a very, very awesome way.” Fans should also watch out for an upcoming installment that deals with a very topical issue: bullying. “[it] explores how you should handle a bully, and sometimes what the source of bullying is,” McCarthy explains. But don’t expect an awkward Very Special Episode: “It’s wrapped in a story that’s really fun and funny, and has music, and doesn’t feel heavy-handed.

King Somber is actually King Sombra.

So a group of people just released their first episode, almost coming up toe-to-toe length wise with an actual FiM episode. The cast is all OCs, complete with original animation. Unfortunately. The group had no experience animating before this and it shows. It's difficult to tell what is going on at times due to the lack of detail in scenes, it's only when it's mostly speech that I can understand stuff, but the voice acting could use some work as well. Some accents dilute the voices to the point of incomprehension. The backgrounds also are terrible all around, with them either being nearly empty, or filled with copy-paste out-of-place images of in-show buildings. Also, the animation rarely respects the horizon line. You gotta respect the horizon line. It might have helped for them to focus on a much smaller project instead first, so they could build the talent to properly tackle such a large scale project. Also, WHY IS THERE A 4-MINUTE SONG NEAR THE BEGINNING?!

And now for some unofficial information. Remember, not all of the following is 100% confirmed, but it appears to be reliable info . An official soundtrack release strongly hinted. A return visit to Manehattan strongly hinted. “Hasbro loves ponies, a shortened season is no indicator of the future.” Both season 3 songs we’ve seen so far (Crystal Ponies, Failure Song) are from episode one. Meghan all but confirmed an upcoming episode that explores the ancient Celestia/Luna conflict. The villain from the Crystal Empire episodes is named King Somber. Team all but confirmed the return of Discord (not just DeLancie). DeLancie has lots of unused lines from previously that will probably be in the DVD bonus features. Meghan used to use the term pegacorn, but after seeing what fans were using, all the writers now use alicorn instead. Jayson says the fact that alicorns have only been seen in positions of power is definitely by design. Jayson and Meghan were just speculating for the following points but Jayson said he’d really like to visit the griffon kingdom in an upcoming ep, and Meghan said she’d like to see “Luna’s abandoned moon colony.” Jayson called Star Swirl the Bearded the Merlin of Equestria, but it didn’t sound like they had any immediate plans to do anything with him. Meghan and Jayson take the world building very seriously. They helped put together that map but intentionally didn’t make it a globe so they’d have lots of future freedom to explore. They said the worldbuilding is there to reward multiple viewings. It’s never going to be a serialized show, and each episode has to stand on its own, Meghan pointed out the Grand Galloping Gala as an early example of doing callbacks and expanding on the show’s universe. Meghan studied mythology in college and researches myths from many cultures, not just Greece. She says they were going to use a mythological creature at one point and rejected it because it had “human elements” (I’m guessing centaur?) Jayson says they try to keep pony technology limited, with even the filmstrip projector chosen because it’s not modern. Meghan joked we’d never see Twilight tweeting. Jayson later had to shrug his shoulders about the night-vision goggles seen in the clip. Meghan said she really wants to explore how the monarchy works in an upcoming episode. Not as a joke answer either, she really seemed history-nerd about it. Maybe this will be the Celestia/Luna ep. Hoofed mammals can talk, other animals generally can’t. (Exception for dragons, etc). This came from Lauren early in development. Hoofed mammals are the “people” of Equestria. As a joke, Mike/Brian said that season 12 would feature Spike and Rarity as a couple, following the passage of the “Pony-Dragon Marriage Act.”
