  1. ((OOC repost from other thread: Geez guys, I'm sorry. My internet sputtered and died last night right before I went to bed. Hopefully everything has been sorted out, I've reported the duplicate threads.)) As Kiss waited, bouncing up and down in excitement, suddenly there came a knock on the door. Chocolate Drop skittishly ran behind one of the tables in the back, and Kiss squealed again. "Our first arrivals!" She put on a welcoming face, took a deep breath, and opened the door. "Welcome!" she said brightly. "I'm Quick Kisses, your host for the evening. Please come in and take a seat!" Two ponies slipped past her into the cafe and found cushions. Two were still outside, one talking to-- "You must be Nien," she said with a huge grin to the pony-sized black widow. "I can't tell you how excited we are to have you. Please, come in!"
  2. Geez guys, I'm sorry. My internet sputtered and died last night right before I went to bed. Hopefully everything has been sorted out, I've reported the duplicate threads. Here's the one to post in:
  3. [sTART OOC] This is Game One of a speed dating RP. It's full, but to join the next game or talk OOC, visit this thread: Those in this game have until July 6th at midnight to post an intro post, or they'll be dropped. Once everyone's posted, I'll give out the first pairs, and the fun can begin! [END OOC] Quick Kisses, a soft beige earth pony with wavy red hair, unlocked the door to the room she'd rented and peeked her head in. Quite clean, and the seat cushions were red velvet. Comfy. It paid to be friends with the owner of Sweet Dreams Cafe - she'd been able to rent the back room for a song, and even convinced him to let her cat stay with her as well, even though it was strictly speaking illegal for Chocolate Drop to be in a restaurant. She walked her way in, talking to Chocolate Drop, who was sprawled lazily across her shoulders. "This is it, munchkin, this is really it! We finally did it!" she squealed. "A room, a beautiful sign," she set a sign saying 'Quick Kisses Speed Dating' outside the door, "and twelve ponies on their way!" Chocolate Drop allowed himself to be squeezed tightly and smooched, then released. Kiss (as she preferred to be called) moved tables and cushions until she had one table with twelve seats around it, and one at the head where she sat her flank down and pulled out a folder with all the applications she'd gotten from the ponies who were about to join her. Kiss couldn't hold back a giggle of excitement. "Now all we have to do is wait for them all to arrive!"
  4. Name: Flare Gender: Male Species: Seapony Description/cutie mark: Flare is a tall orange seapony who works as a lifeguard at various land pony resorts. He's been fascinated with land pony culture since he was a guppy, especially with the fire he was named after since it's impossible underwater. He's a ham who likes to burst into song and tell jokes at inappropriate moments. Picture:
  5. You know what, I agree, and I wanted to play a character too, anyway. Gimme a little while to write a stallion to make it even. You're in, Fireheart! Also, I'm still working on the IC thread, sorry! Oh, and happy 4th to the Americans in this thread!
  6. ALRIGHT everypony! We've got five stallions and five mares, so I'm going to cap it here. Feel free to keep applying and get on the waiting list for round 2. I'm going to make the thread now, everyone who's on the list can make an intro post, and then we can get started!
  7. Thank you Noctriix! Good luck, haha... one of my characters is a single dad, that's a challenge as a college girl. Although I do HAVE a single dad. Uh, good luck getting a date, but sure, why not! Just hope no one has arachnophobia! And if you describe him/her I can draw you a quick pic, think gingerbread pony above, but at least people will get the idea.
  8. SRG, yay, a griffin! StringHeart, I assume that's String Heart from the Marketplace thread. ^.^ Everyone else, I've added your characters to the list and a bit more to the description. We need two more females before I start the thread!
  9. Yes you may. Just remember you might end up talking to yourself. I can play a mare or two if necessary, but step up gals!
  10. I've made an OOC thread. Please post all further replies and applications there.
  11. Whether you're looking for that special somepony or just an entertaining way to spend an evening, Quick Kisses Speed Dating Service is for you! You bring a smile and a step outside your comfort zone, and your host Quick Kisses will take care of the rest. (Gingerbread pony!) Speed dating is an event where an equal number of mares and stallions sit across from each other and chat for a short time ((in this case, 3 real-time days)). The mares then move one seat down and talk to the next stallion, and so on until every mare has talked to every stallion and love has bloomed! ALL species welcome! Zebras, griffons, seaponies in buckets! Please post the following completed form in this thread to join. If you have a picture of your OC, post that too, unless it's your avatar or signature. If there are too many people, you'll be put on a waiting list for the next game. NOTE: Game 1 is full, thank you all! New applications will go in order of posting onto a waiting list for Game 2. Application Form Name: Gender: Species: Description/cutie mark: Picture: (optional) Game 1 Mares: Moonlite Frost (QueenChrysalis747), Stagefright (Noctriix), Nien (StoneTribe), Mojo Mystic (Thebluemage), Sweet Melody (Fireheart) Stallions: Draco (sevofthesands), BrightFire (NemesisPon3), Lore Weaver (Lux), String Heart (StringHeart1257), Stony Shores (a23223) Waiting List Mares: Dawnfire (Quarks) Stallions: Red Comet (MarchingHammers), Dark Spark (Bronynumber299)
  12. Alrighty then, I'll take that as a yes, people are interested. I'm going to cap the first round at five stallions and five mares just so I can keep track of everyone. Everyone who's posted here already is guaranteed a spot. I'll make an OOC thread for everyone to post a quick application (so your partners can see who you are) and anyone who doesn't fit this round can go on a waiting list.
  13. Marshie saw the way Cloud's smile suddenly dropped and watched him curiously. A marefriend, huh? She didn't seem to be making him all that happy. "Well, I hope she knows what a gentlecolt she has on her hooves," she said quietly, barely audible over the rushing wind. A moment later, hearing Sour call Belmont "Belly", she couldn't stop herself from snorting and giggling a little, especially seeing Belmont's reaction. "Oh look, you guys, there it is!" Marshie squealed. She pointed a hoof towards Cafe Bon, a small building with cute swirly blue-and-pink decorations and piles of bright cupcakes in the windows. ((OOC: Does anyone want to play Bon Bon?))
  14. "Whether you're looking for that special somepony or just a fast-paced, fun way to spend an evening, Quick Kisses Speed Dating Service is for you! Ready your smile, set your mane, and your host Quick Kisses will take care of the rest." For the uninitiated, speed dating is an event where an even number of men and women (or in this case, mares and stallions) sit across from each other and talk for 8-10 minutes. The women then move one seat down and talk to the next man, and so on until every woman has talked to every man. (I've never actually done it so I'm using Wikipedia and my imagination to set it up.) Would anyone be interested in doing this? It can be as silly or serious as you want, with current OC's or brand new ones, to actually find a special somepony or just because your friends dared you to. It'll be a quick rp because of the time limit, so not much commitment, either. Finally, if this does get off the ground, do you wonderful people think I should have the time limit be in posts (each partner capped at 5 posts or so) or days (3 days for everypony no matter how many posts they've made)?
  15. "Daddy!" a little voice said. "Daddy, daddy, daddy!" Gleam felt tiny hooves nudging his shoulder and sighed inwardly. He cracked one eye open and saw his daughter's dark purple eyes gazing at him with tears in the corners. "Shimmer, honey, it's too early in the morning to have a meltdown," he groaned. "My beddy wan away," she whined, nuzzling her snow-white horn into his soft grey side. "What?" Gleam said, confusedly shaking the sleep from his head and sitting up. They appeared to be in a dimly lit room with no visible exits. There were two ponies talking softly a little ways away. "Hey, what's going on here?" he demanded, running a comforting hoof through Shimmer's silver mane. His own white mane was sticking out in all directions.
  16. Lovestone was quickly recovering from the sleep spell, her head clearing more every moment. She shook it vigorously and saw a green stallion trot into the wing and immediately stop, looking confused. She realized what a sight she must look with broken glass around her and a security guard calling for help - apparently her attacker had noticed the new pony now, too, and was calling her a vandal. She knew his uniform automatically gave him the advantage in credibility, but she still had to try. "No, w-wait!" she stuttered, moving towards the newcomer, a pleading look in her eyes. Without warning a new spell hit her. The world around her faded briefly, her whole body shuddered, and she felt the magic envelop her mind. Then the voices started. They slammed into her mind like ocean waves, leaving her curled up and helplessly holding her ears trying to block it out. The cacophony was worse than a hundred ponies in the marketplace, even worse than the one time she went to that concert in Manehattan. She knew it wasn't real, just an illusion. But then again, she "knew" everyday crowds of ponies had no reason or desire to hurt her, and yet she'd rather live off pencil shavings and rain water than-- She couldn't keep her train of thought going. Her brain was overloaded, and this time, she had no one to kick.
  17. ((OOC: StringHeart, come save me! :'( )) Before Lovestone knew what was happening, she was whisked into the Ponatello wing and the unicorn's horn was pressed against her forehead. She started to struggle, knowing he was about to do something dastardly, but before she could get away, he whispered, "Sleep." Her legs kicked out weakly and her eyelashes fluttered as drowsiness overtook her. There was a throbbing in her head that spread out slowly to her limbs and caused them to sag uselessly as she went limp. She tried to lift her hoof and push him off of her, but her leg weighed a thousand pounds. Lovestone gasped for air, shaking her heavy head. She knew there was something she was supposed to remember. Something important that was the reason this was happening. She tried to focus her mind, but the colt was saying something else now, distracting her. Suddenly two words caught her ear: "yellow mare". Oh yes. That was it. A mare! She forced her eyelids open, focusing on the only thing that was keeping her from slipping into easy dreams, trying to remember the mare's name. It was something Dash. Crazy? Lunatic? Mad? Mad Dash, yes, that sounded right. "I'm coming, Mad Dash," she said, but she wasn't sure if it was out loud or not. She mustered all of her native earth pony strength, and the little extra that her cutie mark gave her - this was her special talent, after all - and kicked the unicorn as hard as she could in the chest. It was only just hard enough to make him lose his grip, but it did the trick and let her stumble away. She crashed into a display case and slumped to the dusty floor, then climbed to her feet and shook her head to clear out the cobwebs of the sleep spell. "Tenacity is my middle name, you dog!" she said unsteadily, hoping that was a real word.
  18. "Thank you, Sour," Marshie gasped, her heart pounding. She ventured a look down at the ground and saw that it wasn't all that far away, and Belmont was just below them. At least if she fell she would have something to land on. Hopefully she wouldn't crush him -- not that she was planning on falling anyway. She waved the hoof that was curled around Cloud's neck, gripping him tighter. She lifted her head towards Ponyville and saw that it was coming up fast. They were almost there, in fact. "This is so much faster than going by ground!" she said loudly to be heard over the rushing wind and wingbeats of her carriers. "No wonder you guys are travelers! What brought you to Ponyville, anyway?"
  19. ((OOC: I've been having trouble with Canterlot too. Wonder what's going on? Also I'm tired, I apologize for the rushed nature of this post. ^^; )) "Yes, thank you so much, I'll take every pair of eyes I can get," Gleam said to the fluffy orange pony. "Let's go ask those two over there." As Gleam and his fluffy companion trotted over, one of the ponies hailed him with some remark that barely registered. His horn glowed and his magic opened up a watery portal, letting him see through a bush by their side. Focusing on moving the spell to a tree, he abruptly said to the mare, "She's about so high, and she's white with a silver mane, and she's got-- I mean--" He took a deep breath, paused, and started over. "Yes, it's beautiful today, I'm fine thank you, and you? My daughter is missing, have you seen a little filly with a pink tail bow around here?" For the first time he looked at the mare, dropping his spell, his eyes locked into hers with a pleading gaze.
  20. ((OOC: Sorry about your computer! Hope you can fix it. Do you mind if I pick up Berry Tea and run with her, since Lovestone was talking to her?))
  21. Gleam was torn from his self-accusation by a soft question from behind him. He reared up and turned around, his eyes wild. "Of course!" he gasped, staring hard at the fluffy orange pony in front of him. "Other ponies. Of course. My Shimmer," he continued, addressing the orange pony now, speaking quickly. "She's about so high, and she's white with a silver mane, and she's got a big pink tail-bow. Have you seen her?" While he waited for her to answer, his eyes swept the park for anyone else he could ask. There. Two ponies under that tree. Maybe they'd seen his little girl.
  22. Lovestone quailed at the colt's threatening demeanor. Not for the first time she asked herself what she was doing, chasing a mare she didn't even know, risking her safety and leaving her mother alone and helpless for however long this craziness would take. She took a deep breath and looked back at the swirling vines that adorned her flank. Ivy meant faithfulness, and she'd vowed to never leave anyone behind. Insanity needed her. She mustered up a glare and gave it to him with as much strength as she could. Now there was someone behind Lovestone, chastising her. At first she ignored the haughty-sounding mare, focusing her anger on the colt in front of her, who was looking at her like an obstinate tangle in a piece of rope, but then she realized she needed help. She tore her eyes from him long enough to turn to the red pegasus and say, "Get the police! Quick! I'll hold him here!" "Tell me where she is," she hissed, pushing up close to him. Around the corner she could hear someone else in the Ponatello wing. "What are you doing in here? Do you have her?" With that, she craned her neck around him to try to get a better look.
  23. As the two pegasi took off, Marshie squeezed her eyes shut as hard as she could. She could feel the powerful wingbeats on either side of her quickly settle into a rhythm. She kept her forelegs tightly locked around their necks. A few moments after her hind legs left the earth, she dared to open one eye, then the other, and gasped. "Sweet celestial sisters! It's gorgeous up here!" she almost yelled. She took a deep breath and savored the crisp air blowing back her mane. "Are you telling me this is what earth ponies and unicorns are missing out on? You pegasi can fly up here anytime you want and get this view? Those mountains, the trees, th-- omigosh!" she suddenly squealed, almost losing her grip.
  24. Gleam was having an exceptionally bad day. He'd had to work an extra shift this morning on next to no sleep, and his boss yelled at him twice. Then his daughter's teacher asked him to come in for a conference and said she was afraid Shimmer was acting up at school because she wasn't getting enough attention at home. What a glare. Then he decided a trip to the park would be a lovely idea, some father-daughter bonding time and a little break from his writing, and his brain decided it was a perfect time to catch forty winks under a tree while Shimmer played in the field. Then he woke up, and she was gone. All this ran through the slate-grey unicorn's mind as he scrambled from one side of the park to the other, his white mane whipping about wildly, calling her name as loud as he could in an increasingly panicked voice. "I'm not cut out for this job," he muttered, tears threatening to spill as he imagined what could have happened to his baby girl. "SHIMMER!"
