  1. I think Ciraxis needs to post to keep Dusk and I's little group moving along.
  2. Sorry, I didn't mean problem in that way. I don't think the loss of innocence in our society is necessarily a bad thing. It will eventually lead to everyone being more open about anything, which can be a very good thing. And, yes, violence in games like Soldier of Fortune is ridiculous enough to be considered satirical. Indeed a lot of games like God of War, or Dead Space pride themselves on being gorefests, heck look at Dead Space 2's infamous ad campaign. The irony is that violence appeals more to the younger generation our days than the folks who are actually on the age label. As I said before I don't agree with the mods, but it's their forum, and their rules. If they say no-violence outside of designated areas, then them's the breaks.
  3. I think your problem there is letting a kid play Soldier of Fortune, that game was violent with a capital "V". A lot of kids are exposed to this sort of thing and aren't innocent at all, no, but there are still some out there that are. Mostly because they're kept that way by not being exposed to the Media in general, which embraces all this violence. While I don't support the mods need to keep this place g-rated, I can't imagine many kids at all come here and any looking at pony stuff online will inevitably lead them to the darker places, I do understand their motives. Midnight's in charge... and you know I had to say something. Couldn't have been right and not let anyone know it.
  4. Not to be that guy, but I did say a few days ago that a lot of the concepts we're going to broach wouldn't fit in a g-rated forum. Of course I didn't suggest moving the topic, but now that we've been given an ultimatum, I heartily support the decision to move.
  5. Rate it's going, I'm having a hard time seeing Hoax joining the Grey Wardens. Midnight seems rather by the books, and Hoax reminds me more than a bit of Avernus.
  6. The Crystalline Phoenix doesn't sound too overpowered to me. Defensively it's a beast, but with an attack like that I think it strikes the right compromise.
  7. (Hey there, guys. First of Slash's mysterious crew here, and the Captain. My cohorts will be joining me shortly, all aboard the Languid Sophisticate.) Name: Tarnished Gold Gender: Male Age: Old Stallion Species: Earth Pony Looks: Tarnished Gold is a tall and well built pony despite his age. He tries his best to appear a gentlepony despite his rather battered appearance. A number of scars on his body show some particularly nasty battles, but he covers them in a white shirt with ruffles and an ornate purple jacket. His right eye is actually a glass eye, and if you look closely you can make out a scar across his eye lid, although he covers it in powder. A number of his teeth are fake but almost indiscernible. His mane is kept short and combed down, as is his tail, which are both bleached pale white, leading to a strong contrast with his coat which was once white, but has now greyed. The one flaw in his appearance that he can’t fix is his missing leg. A rather messy hit with a cannonball back when he was a helmspony cost him the lower half of his rear right leg, which was quickly replaced by the then ship Doctor Handsaw who botched the job. Tarnished Gold does now have a piece of brass where his lower leg would be, but it’s not fully functional and Gold has trouble standing on his hind legs. To help with that he always carries around a cane. Personality: Gold is all about finery and manners. A gentlepony in every way, that is, until he gets angry. He will offer those he does battle with a chance, no matter their creed or colour, and if they refuse, he will do all in his power to destroy them. Anypony that gets on his bad side is lucky to live to regret it. There are no second chances. He is fair with his crew as long as they don’t abuse his leniency. Tarnished Gold is getting old however, he can feel it in his bones, his stub has a tendency to bleed around the brass. Without special tonics brewed by Patches, he wouldn’t get through the day-to-day. Whenever he feels a moment of weakness, he tries to overcompensate by acting strong, which does little to help. Cutie Mark: A Canterlotian Crest with a bloody sword run through it. Random Fact: Tarnished Gold loves rats. He may deny it to the grave for the sake of his Noblepony appearance, but growing up in the slums he had a lot of rat friends. Your Ship: The Languid Sophisticate, a small airship staffed by four ponies. This small brass reinforced wooden ship is built around a large metal helium tank. The ship features a flight deck at the top of the tank, while storage and everything else run around the top half of it. Four propellers sit at the back of the airship, two flanking the balloon on each side. The flight deck features four large bore clockwork cannons with speed loaders and full mobility. When manned they can fire in a full 360 degree area, allowing for exceptional coverage and increased accuracy. It also features two large high-pressure steam guns that fire burning hot gases at short range, making them devastating in boarding actions for both attack and defence. The ship is largely automated, with sails, anchor, and propellers all mechanised to be manipulated from the helm where the Captain can normally be found. The cannons are also able to be fired from the helm, but aiming must be done manually. As long as the mechanisms are intact, the cannons will automatically reload. The main features of the ship are the armoury, doctor’s office and workshop, as well as each pony having their own living quarters as well as the captain’s own rather lavish one. The lowest deck of the ship is entirely devoted to storage. Rank: Captain Weapons/Fighting style: Tarnished Gold has a sword hidden in the cane he uses to walk. The rapier is made of star metal from a fallen asteroid, and has been known to break inferior blades. He can’t swing it with as much strength as he used to, but still uses it as his duelling weapon. His cane also triples as a clockwork rifle once the blade is removed. It can only hold one shot at a time, but the extremely long barrel gives unparalleled accuracy thanks to rifling, and the shot carries a special payload of combustive gases to set any foe or object it hits alight if it’s flammable enough. Lifelong dream or general goal: Tarnished Gold wants to be a noblepony in paper. Due to his status as a wanted criminal, that is proving near impossible despite his petitions to the Princess. He still believes if he accrues enough gold, he’ll be able to do it eventually, even though it’s been made abundantly clear that isn’t the case. History: Born as the illegitimate son of a noblepony who wanted nothing to do with him, Tarnished Gold has always wanted to live the high life of the Canterlot elite, his birthright. He spent his young life trying to learn etiquette and prove himself as smart as the upper class, despite his common upbringing. He spent ages working on his accent, and trying to eke out a living with a single mother in the slums. When he was sixteen he went to visit his father, hoping that he’d be impressed with what he had learnt and accept him into the family. However that wasn’t what happened. His father disowned him again, and something in Tarnished Gold broke. He got angry, real angry, and lashed out, killing his wretched excuse for a father and earning himself a one way ticket to the gallows. However Gold wasn’t stupid, he didn’t stick around, he ran to the skydocks, found a ship and stowed away, unaware the ship he had hidden on was a pirate vessel. The captain found him, and rather than gutting him, saw something in the colt and gave him a job on his ship. There he worked his way up from a cabin boy, to the helmspony, to the First Mate, and then finally the Captain. When Gold made Captain he had the ship renamed The Languid Sophisticate and a lot of the ship was automated, reducing the need for most of the crew. Yet Tarnished Gold never forgot his dreams of high society, now that he can afford to live like one, he does. Covering up his scarred self and presenting an impeccable gentlepony. Few compare him to the butcher he’s known as at first sight, but they’ve never seen him angry, because if they had they wouldn’t be able to see.
  8. Thank you, Grim for triggering that jump, and in such a stylish way too. I'll be more careful with violence in future, Midnight, but do keep in mind this is based on a game series in which both titles are M-rated and with good reason. A lot of its key concepts will be hard to describe while keeping it completely G-rated. Such as Shadow Seal's Joining. I suppose you could just avoid them though.
  9. Yeah, but do they really need three starters? I get that it's a staple, but that's the thing. A staple is safe. Pokemon Yellow is the only exception to that rule, and that was to make it similar to the anime. If DarkspinePrime is right though, then they might be reinventing it a lot more than I thought. That would really turn the tables with the two type match-ups running in tandem. That one I bet was forced on them. A lot of people bought the DS for Diamond/Pearl, I know I did, and the 3DS is selling nowhere near as well as the DS did.
  10. X and Y? When I heard those names I thought this would be a parody, glad that isn't the case. Looks like I'll finally have to shell out for a 3DS. Those battles look really good. Fans will no doubt be in uproar about the designs though. Legendaries look to me like they might be Life and Death this time, though I have to say that on that point that those two Legendaries look a bit too overcomplicated. Don't know if I like them. This looks like the first time I'll ever go with the fire starter on my first playthrough. Normally go for water, but Froakie just looks silly and that Fennekin is just too cute. While I'm glad they're finally progressing from sprites, this feels like Nintendo might be forcing them to. Can't use sprites in 3D. Still keeping two legendaries and the grass, water, fire starters suggests to me that they're still not going to rock the boat too much.
  11. Okey-dokey. It's not like there's any rush really. Although I think Midnight edited that post after you pointed out he was repeating himself.
  12. If you really want, then I could try my hoof at it. Just think it might be a little jarring, as I shouldn't really have any control over your characters. Midnight might be able to do it. As GM he has the authority.
  13. Hah! Don't worry about a short post or two, I'm sure you can make it up when things are happening again.
  14. Hmm, well I can't really write it as Pinprick is currently at the edge of the group himself. I don't know what to suggest. Just write what's comfortable?
  15. I'm pretty sure everyone's in this particular party except Shadow and Hoax. So, Shadow Seal, Pinprick, Nexar, Midnight, Grim, Snow Frost, Icicle Frost, Razor Mane and Stardust. I think that's everyone. Uh, if I was writing this post, then I'd lead in with them passing the city gates and us just catching the end of the story.
  16. What's stopping us from jumping too? I think Nexar and I are just filling time. Shadow's already planning on jumping. Shadow Seal seems to just be tagging along, and I think Midnight is just trying to catch up. I'm sure that we could wrap this all up by just saying that Grim and the Frosts explained what had happened on the way. Well, unless, Midnight has something planned before we get there, but I don't think that's the case.
  17. Chainmail crashed loudly into Umbrosa and sent the weapon flying away. Before he could cheer his successful ploy a very irritated voice came from behind him, barking at him to stand down. Chainmail quickly stumbled to his hooves and away from the disarmed assassin. The Prince was clearly displeased with what he'd done. Chainmail took another step into the background, as Umbrosa too rose to his hooves. He seemed a lot more calm, so at least Chainmail's plan had kinda worked. Even if the Black Knight would probably chew him out for making a fool of himself in front of the Prince. At least there were no doubts as to his loyalty, so that was a plus. This assassin character was now clearly out of options. It would be any second before a Sul'jin would arrive and sort all this out. Then Umbrosa played what looked like his last card. An oath. Chainmail was speechless as he recited the oath of the Tov'kin. Now it was all up to the Prince. Even the Black Knight could do nothing about it, and Chainmail could imagine the anger on his face about the situation. Anger which might be misplaced towards the nearest outlet he could. Chainmail was not looking forward to how this ended. He could quite easily sneak away from them while they were all embroiled in Dusk's actions, but then there would be questions about his loyalty, and they would easily track him down. It was a safer bet to stay here, and see this out in full. Who knows he could get off with a slap on the wrist.
  18. PMing multiple people is really easy. You just send a PM, then add people afterwards, or at least that's how I've always done it.
  19. Wasn't one of Valencetiger's characters stalking Draco? The Griffon who told Chainmail he was named Silverwing, but I think was actually Van or Val.
  20. Shadow isn't the only rogue in our little posse. Bandits deal with a lot of locked equipment you know. Good luck convincing Wardens to help you steal from the Chantry though.
  21. Looking back at that post it could be aimed at Irons. I had assumed Snakebite was just dealing with us one at a time, and that we'd keep the You, I, Snakebite order going.
  22. Hey, Nexar, I just figured that Pinprick the Pegasus wandering off to look for those knives could lead to him discovering the bandit camp by accident. If you still want to play the bandit camp captive angle.
  23. As tempting as that sounds, I'd much prefer my blood is not boiled, nor my bones used as a foundation for your new summer home.
  24. Well in my character's current position, I was waiting for Gecy's Bounty Hunter to respond to your Snakebite. If you want I could just go ahead and make a post now to try and resume our small trio.
