  1. ((sorry about that real life intervened for a while there)) Cogsworth grinned, "oh yes, I grew up here but I left some years ago, you just can't test inventions around Canterlot, I think the Princesses would disapprove of blast craters around the city walls, decided to leave for my ancestral home in the lovely Whitetail Forest, out of harms way you could say. Well I wasn't really looking for anything inparticular, merely wanting to visit some of the more touristy parts and perhaps a few off the map places you may know yourself." He returned to his machine, flipping a few levers and switches, turning a valve and causing it to shudder back into life once more, "why don't you hop in and show me around...or if you prefer move infront and lead the way." It began coughing and spluttering smoke and soot once more, Cogsworth clambered into the machine, settling into the driver's seat with a smile on his face. Pausing for a moment, he chuckled, shouting over the noise, "oh how rude of me, I never gave you my name, call me Professor Cogsworth, Prof, Cogs and Cogsy are all suitable replacements."
  2. Cogsworth chuckled, "well I say mostly because in untrained hooves, those not familiar with steam powered inventions, one could let the boiler build to a dangerous level and when start said boiler could explode, it is quite spectacular actually, metal and fire lighting up the entire area like some big firework, anyway that only happens if you don't know what you're doing...or you forget..." He gave a brief look down to his metal prosthesis as if in thought before looking back up, "However I assure you I am not going to forget that kind of thing any time soon, so the SPVTD is completely safe in my hands." He seemed lost in thought for a moment, "oh that reminds me, I'll be needing a guide for a tour of the city, now you're clearly too important to do such a task and you guards have better things to do than guide an old Pony around a city he once knew but since you are here, perhaps directions to the nearest tour guide would be very much appreciated." Cogsworth hoped the explanation was enough for her to let the machine into the city, though he probably shouldn't have mentioned the explosive properties and go along with the lines of 'stunned ponies were likely to drop things onto their hooves when they saw his wonderous contraption' but that sounded far to boastful and he was nothing if not an honest Pony, eccentric but honest.
  3. Cogsworth smiled, having to shout to be heard over the noise of the machine, "oh...give me a moment..it takes a while to wind down." The vehicle juddering closer and closer but slowing down before finally stopping. The machine cluttered and clanked, hissed and whistled as the pressure in the boiler was slowly eased off, bringing the vehicle to a shuddering halt. Cogsworth lifted his driving goggles, taking a rag and wiping his face semi-clean of soot and dust. Letting the boiler wind down before he stepped outside with a clop and a clank. He gave his best smile as he walked up to Night Watcher, "what seems to be the problem Officer, I assure you the Steam Powered Vehicular Transportation Device is completely safe," he took a pause and muttered, "mostly."
  4. Professor Cogsworth had been in something of a rut recently, his mind clouded and unable to conjure into existence the required imagination for invention. He had pondered on this problem long and hard and decided to take an old piece of advice, travel broadens the mind and so he too would travel to broaden his horizons and hopefully lift this momentary fog that had decended upon him. He threw what little he needed into a travel trunk, warmed up the steam powered wheeled transportation device, bid his single servant Nanny farewell and begun his journey. His first stop would be one he knew well, though it had been many years since he left it for his ancestral home. Canterlot, the sparkling city of spires, home of magic and possibly the most important place in all of known (and possibly unknown) Equestria. Though his approach would be noted from a greater distance than one would expect, the first would be the plume of soot and smoke pouring out of his steam powered vehicle, rising like a dark cloud on the horizon as he drew closer. Then the noise, the coughing, spluttering, clanking, hissing contraption could be heard for some distance as it moved slowly towards the gleaming white city. Cogsworth had his driving goggles down (mostly to keep the smoke and soot out of his eyes rather than any actual protection) and donned a flat peaked cap, for a pony with their own manor, he was looking decidely common if not for the contraption he was driving. His face already stained a darker shade of grey and his beard had gained black spots from the flecks of soot that had accumulated as he had been driving all morning. The vehicle chugged closer to the city gates, Cogsworth had thought that the guards may have something to say but it should be fine, I mean, the wonder of his invention was sure to stun them into silence and let him enter the city without arguement...
  5. Yay thanks! Now just wait for me to be an officially sanctioned Roleplayer! I think I shall do my original idea for a series of topics called: There and Back Again: A Pony's tour: (current locations). Basically Professor Cogsworth is going to visit a few locations, starting with Canterlot I think.
  6. Several clips used in that music video are from British films. One of them is Threads, probably THE most depressing and horribly realistic film about what would happen if a Nuclear war did go off, basically Britain's answer to The Day After but even worse on the depressionometer. If you're old enough I recommend giving it a watch. The other is When the Wind Blows, a cartoon short also about the after effects of nuclear war, though still depressing it isn't quite as brutal in its honesty as Threads.
  7. Random Question... Is it possible to keep Horsehoe crabs as pets? I think they're all kinds of awesome but I imagine there is a hell of a lot of work needed to keep one, hell the habitat alone would need to be substantial due to their size. Just wondering if it is at all feasible.
  8. It takes time for people to get to a topic to give feedback, there are people you can contact to get feedback though, I recommend Starswirlthebearded, he/she/creature from beyond dimensions is quite good at providing helpful hints. The other thing to do would be to take a look at other applications, just to get the gist of things. One of the things you've done which may cause a delay in getting an application accepted is the very same thing I did with my original draft of my application and was pointed out to me. You have no Cutie Mark story, merely describing the Cutie Mark isn't enough, there has to be a story as to how your character actually earned the Cutie Mark, it is meant to be a big occasion for a pony. Perhaps go into detail describing Clock Chime's residence. How does the shop look? Is it fairly clean and well organised or is it a case of parts being strewn hither and dither about the shop? Is it well lit or is it a musty atmosphere more reminisce of those old curiosity shops? What is the street like where it is located, is it in the more rundown parts of Manehatten or is it located in a more upmarket street? The main character history and character summary can be done as a Doctor's note, infact it is quite an inventive way to do it but perhaps flesh out the residence and cutie mark story and give Starswirlthebearded a polite PM asking them to give it a once over. They aren't an RP Helper but they do have good knowledge. I'm just providing very basic pointers, I'm sure someone with more posts and more knowledge will be along to help you.
  9. Yay thanks Mojo! Now it is just the question of waiting for approval....and choosing which ideas for threads I had...curse me and my many ideas.
  10. Now my OC is basically the roleplaying character I've played through various forms of roleplay, that of the mad scientist Doctor Mechano. Now being a mad scientist he can use SCIENCE! to breech dimensions so he has ended up in all sorts of places but still the same character. The rules of 'reality' abhorr anything non-conforming to the standards of that universe, so in something like Champions Online or the Mutants and Masterminds tabletop game he remains the same, since mad scientists are pretty **** well common in those setting but say he leaps to...Guild Wars 2 (which he has done), then reality will go "right...that isn't normal in the slightest, got to sort that out!" and will say, turn him into an Asuran (who are known for being mad scientists in Guild Wars 2)...reality also has a cruel sense of humor so will occasionally "screw with him", so he won't always be a he, sometimes he will be a she, sometimes he will be an 'it' but his personality will fundamentally be the same. However I can't use him for Mane RP, evil ponies just don't exist in Equestria and technology is nowhere near the level he would require (even Guild Wars 2 is technically more advanced technology wise than Equestria despite it being a fantasy universe) so instead I altered his premise to become a seperate character, Professor Cogsworth. A loud, kind Professor of a more steampunk persuasion, eccentric rather than flat out mad.
  11. Yeah you kind of read my mind on the character, a proper turn of the century carnie strongman with a handlebar mustache, striped singlet, shaved off mane, comes all the way from Stalliongrad, use to wrestle bears in a sideshow attraction there and moved out due to finding that outside of Stalliongrad they prefer their sports slightly less extreme and moves to hoofington... Hmm...well once Prof Cogsworth is approved I think I know what my next character will be...Samson Stronghoof!
  12. I'm just curious, I mean it is doubtful but would contact sports like Boxing exist in Equestira, I mean we've seen that martial arts existed but I'm not sure whether martial arts tournaments (no...not the Enter the Dragon style ones...) actually exist. Reason I'm asking is I'm was pondering an idea for a character who is a ye olde timey style 'fight allcomers' carnival boxer/strong pony. Peoples thoughts on this?
  13. Heh...that explains far too much about him...far too much. You had to go and find a mystical artifact of the old ones didn't you?
