2. ooohhhh ok xD I just came on this morning and saw it was moved, so I'll wait a bit. Thanks for the heads up, I was worried that I did something wrong haha
3. Hi all I just have a question on something. In some areas of the site it says I am not able to start a new topic, or even reply to one (which is really strange an worrisome as I want to roleplay, but cannot reply to roleplay threads) Here is a screenshot I took a few seconds ago: Do you have to post so many times before you're allowed to post in other places? Has anyone else ever had this problem?
4. Alright name has been changed and this should be ready to go now
5. Narrowing the list, this is probably about as girly/pony as I've gotten with names ever xD Glitter Galaxy, Galaxy Dust, Nebula Burst
6. Talent and history has been fixed, and on name I was thinking of a name that has to do with space, but thought it too cliche and that many other people would have ponies with names making the list of available ones small. It seems to be the next possible route on naming though so here are some and I would like a run through of them before choosing one. I did a forum search and it didn't turn up anything so I think it is safe to say no one has used them yet: Starburst Andromeda Nebula Galaxy Some names of nebulas I think could be possible names: Owl Eight-burst Saturn Antares Rho Ophiuchi (or Rho, name of the star within Antares)
7. Finally done! Was worried I wouldn't be able to finish it when the site went down xD
8. Pokemon Red since the gameboy colour was the first thing I ever got, destroying everything with my Charizard
9. That get your attention? Good I’ve never done a blog before, but I guess it’s finally time to give it a go and see where it all ends up! Since I am a student working to become an illustrator I have classes in animation, and I’ve begun to search for more movies and short films to watch and gain inspiration from. Now, I’ve seen almost every animated movie that came from english speaking countries and other western countries, so I’ve now begun to go into eastern animation (Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, ect.). I’ll share my findings with all of you as a sort of review, both in the sense of story and artistic direction. I’ll make a review whenever I watch a movie so it can be a little sporadic, but you’ll normally find them during the weekday as the weekend for me is usually busy with work, cleaning, ect. So for the first movie to kick things off I’ll share with you one of my favorite Korean movies. Leafie, A Hen into the Wild. Now I’ve seen live action Korean movies before, and they were all pretty good, but their animated movie scene had been a mystery to me up until now. I can tell you I’m not disappointed. Since I’ve seen this movie I’ve delved deeper into their movie culture and I have found more gems since then, but this is where it all started. The movie is a film adaptation of the book of the same name, and apparently it’s extremely popular (it hasn’t come out in english yet, but when it does I’ll totally buy it). The book and movie is about a hen named Leafie who lives on a chicken farm. From her tiny cage she can see the outside world and is determined to escape her prison and live out in the yard. The film is about her escape, and eventually ending up not in the yard, but out in the wild beyond the gates. She meets a mallard duck named Wanderer who helps her escape from the hungry jaws of the Weasel, who is the story’s main antagonist and constantly shows up to spoil everything. Some more events occur and she’s left with taking care of an orphaned duckling, and the story takes off from there as she experiences motherhood in this harsh environment. I will warn you, the ending to this movie is EXTREMELY sad, and many of you will probably cry. If you decide to watch the movie watch it as the original film released in Korea, as I’ve heard other countries cut the ending when they released it, dubbing it too depressing. But don’t worry, the movie isn’t all sad and drab, they’ve got some humor in it. But, there are some strange moments in the movie that just make you want to yell “Why?!” but they are very few and far between. Onto the actual art and animation technique! The animation was very smooth and clean as I’ve come to expect. I’ve learned from my professor that eastern animators use a higher frame rate than 24 (the minimum before an animation becomes choppy) for action scenes to make it flow better and so you can see every movement as fluidly as possible (that’s why they always look so awesome). Now in anime made for tv that means quality of other less action packed scenes can suffer due to time constraints and low budget, but when you’ve got a full blown movie with a high budget like this then quality stays pretty consistent. Line and style also changed throughout the movie helping to make you feel a certain way. Most of the movie is done in clean lines, flashbacks were done in a more blocky, oriental, nearly line-artless style, and during some intense moments you could see more loose, powerful lines. colour was done spectacularly with different tones and colours for each season of Leafie’s life. colours in the hen barn are quite dull and limited in colour, while the outside world abounds with light and has a wider colour palette. Spring and summer in the beginning of the movie were full of colour, while winter at the end of the movie had more subdued, dark tones and colour. Overall this was a good start to my journey into eastern animation, and proves to still be one of my most favorite movies of all time. You can readily find this movie online on some anime websites with english subs. If you've seen the movie than by all means comment about your experience with the film!
10. Thanks all : ) working on the rp application for her and it should be done soon! I'm super excited : )
11. Thank you both : ) and yes I did, although I'm still working on getting lineart done right, normally used to making it on paper first but this was a quick doodle turned reference one night
12. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Name: Nebula Burst Sex: Female Age: Young Mare Species: Earth Pony Eye colour: Sky Blue Coat: Bright Salmon Mane/Tail: Tri-coloured (platinum blonde + two shades of blue). Cut short and done in a voluminous windswept style. Has sparkles in mane and tale to help accentuate her cutie mark. Physique: Slightly taller and thinner than the average mare. All legs and very nimble, has small dainty hooves. Residence: Canterlot Occupation: Model (Hobby/Spontaneous Occupation: Horoscope dealer) Cutie Mark: A planet amidst a swirling galaxy and tiny stars. Her special talent is reading the planets, and giving out horoscopes to ponies by using their birth season and using her talent of reading the sky and planet alignments. She's also fond of stargazing, and if she isn't at some party or modeling exhibition you'll find her atop the roofs of Canterlot or in the library. Despite her love of astronomy her cutie mark came as quite a surprise to her. As a young filly she knew that she loved stargazing and reading about the planets, but being the diva she was Nebula Burst thought it was too plain and other ponies wouldn't be dazzled and impressed with that sort of talent. She then tried everything else she could think of that would really turn heads, but nothing worked and her haunches remained blank. A couple of months after her last attempt at getting a cutie mark Nebula and some of her friends decided to have a sleepover. She and her friends had heard from a professor at a planetarium they took a field trip to that some ponies could predict events by the alignments of the planets, and it interested the fillies. Nebula Burst being the expert on stars in their little group decided to give it a try. She had recieved a map of the stars as a birthday give a year back from a distant aunt she vaguely remembered, and thought it might come in handy. Knowing their birthdays and looking back and forth from her map to the sky she made predictions for her friends. Depending on which planet they fell under and it's position she gave them advice depending on the placements on her charts and in the sky. Her friends were so impressed by ow knowledgeable their friend was that they insisted that it be her presentation for show and tell the next day. Reluctantly she brought all her books and maps to show and tell, and one by one dealt out a horoscope to each of her classmates. Everyone was so impressed that she finally came to admit that this was what she was meant to do, and thusly her cutie mark appeared. She has been giving out horoscopes ever since. History: Nebula Burst was the first-born of a couple who lived in the uppercrust of Manehattans’ society. Her father High Baller was an earth pony, and a respectable businesspony born into old money. He was known for his large sturdy build, and his dark blue coat and blonde mane. He always had a posh yet friendly glean to his amber eyes. Her mother Booshi was a unicorn, and a well known celebrity psychic in the city. She was pink from head to hoof with a sharp nose, and was known to be a tad eccentric. The couple was a product of an arranged marriage due to Booshi’s family being in a financial bind. Although the two didn’t quite know each other they quickly became friends and were ecstatic to find that they were going to have a foal together. Nebula Burst was born one summers night in the main hospital in Manhattan, and was of a very unimpressive size and weight. For the first few days the two new parents were worried about the health of their newborn filly, but were relieved when to doctors said everything was fine and that they could return home with their newborn. They, or rather Booshi, decided upon the name Nebula Burst. As the weeks went on the young filly remained thin and gangly, but still relatively healthy and able to do anything any other foal could do. When she came of age the young filly was sent to one of the prestigious private schools in the city where she quickly made friends, and drama. She was the self proclaimed queen diva of the school, and she certainly lived up to that title. If things didn’t go her way, or something crossed her, everyone was sure to know it. Nevertheless she was a good student and excelled in history and the arts. She was also fond of astronomy and spent much of her free time in the library or stargazing. It was around this time she began to explore what her special talent was with many failed attempts. It wasn’t until a slumber party one evening that the idea of horoscopes popped up, and after dealing them her friends said she should use it as her show and tell presentation. Her cutie mark appeared that next day after she dealt horoscopes to her classmates much to their amusement and interest. As she grew into a young mare Nebula had many gentlecolt callers, but she spurned many of them preferring the company of her tight knit group of friends who would swarm and create a protective barrier around her. During the final years of school this pack of fillies never left her side, and she remained single. After her graduation Nebula Burst became afflicted with a wanderlust that she could not dismiss. One day she packed her bags, said some tearful goodbyes, and hoped on the train that would take her across the continent. She went all around, giving out horoscopes for bits to keep her moving until she finally ended up in Canterlot. She had distant relatives who lived here, and they happily accepted her into their home for however long she needed. The city enchanted her and she wandered the streets everyday, always finding something new and making many friends. It was here that her life would have a turning point. One day while walking down a street in the artistic quarter of the city she noticed a sharply dressed mare stomping off angrily and a panicked stallion with a camera around his neck chasing after her. Maybe she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, or the right place, either way the stallion gave up his chase and noticed her. Without a word the stallion quickly grabbed her and began pushing her into a building, and Nebula could only skid across the ground with a shocked look on her face. She thought she was being foalnapped by this stranger. Before she could react by kicking him square in the jaw other ponies surrounded her and the stallion, squawking questions at them. The ponies then proceeded to beautify her with makeup and clothing, and she then thought it was all turning out pretty alright and she didn’t have to break any bones. She was then dragged, once again, towards the middle of a stage with a gleaming white backdrop. All eyes and cameras were pointed at her, and her inner diva took over. She struck a pose tentatively to see what would happen, and the crowd ooh’d and the cameras flashed. She struck another one with the same response. She was beginning to like where this was going. She continued until the cameras stopped flashing and she was once again swarmed by ponies. She found out that she just saved their tails after their last minute scheduled model walked out on them, and thankful for their stand in they gave her a handsome sum of bits. The next day she found herself in the Galop magazine (which her relatives had a monthly subscription to). Suddenly a brilliant idea formed in her mind. She loved the city so much, but the rent was so expensive, and she could never afford it with her horoscopes. That was where that fateful encounter came in. She could use modeling as a way to stay in Canterlot. She had loved the attention, the flashing cameras, the rush it gave when all eyes were on her. She found the modeling agency in charge of the issue she was published in and asked if she could become a full time model. They happily accepted her into the fold, and so began her modeling career and her launch into high Canterlot society. Over the months she has become one of Canterlot’s newest premier models, and has shown up at many of Canterlot’s elite events. She still finds time to do what she loves most, and visits her parents often, especially for the holidays. There are big things in store for this star. Character Summary: Nebula Burst is simply put a diva, always has been always will be. She was spoiled rotten by her parents and is used to getting her way. She has a short temper and Celestia forbid if things don’t go her way or you cross her wrong. She’s extremely passive aggressive never admitting to being angry, and will subtly act nasty and sabotage others if they made her angry. She’ll rarely get in a physical fight. She can hold a grudge for an amazing amount of time, and will likely ask for an apology from the other pony, before apologizing for her attitude herself. Nebula is always one to crave attention and she’ll suck up every compliment like a sponge. It’s hard to impress this mare, but she is an expert and feigning interest in front of the very important ponies. She is more interested in the self made ponies, working folk who have proved their merit. Despite being catty, dramatic, stubborn, and self absorbed she does follow in her fathers’ hoofsteps and donates most of her extra income to any who are in need of it. Her favorite places to donate and invest are the local Canterlot library, planetarium, and up and coming businesses that interest her that might need a couple of extra bits. She lived as a traveller for awhile, living off of her horoscope predictions, and so she knows how hard life can be. The good publicity isn’t half bad either. If you can look past her genteel exterior, and all the drama, Nebula Burst is actually a very warm and friendly pony, and she does try her best to get along with others. She’s almost always the one to start a conversation first and she’s always willing to dish out horoscopes or invited to her apartment for some stargazing atop her balcony.
13. Oh wow this came a little late, but then again everything I do does. I made this account like five days ago and then completely forgot like the scatterbrain I am. I originally came to the site to roleplay and I've been stuck making a character until like last night when I finally got the design down, and remembered that I made an account here. I'm not new to the FIM fandom as I've been following it since the very beginning, I've just had a hard time finding an active rpg/discussion site. Not much else to say besides I like to draw and besides ponies I'm a total Pokemon maniac (you should see the strategy list I've got already in the makings for the next Pokemon game x3) Oh and this is my character, still thinking of a name right now: She's a fabulous model pony/horoscope dealer!
