  2. Addition regarding Foals, Fillies, and Colts:

    Foal refers to the Age of the pony directly, while Filly or Colt refer to older, HOWEVER, Filly and Colt refer simply to 'Not Adult'.

    So a female baby pony is still a Foal and a Filly, and a male baby pony is still a Colt and a Filly. But when they reach adulthood, they are known as Mares and Stallions.

    Synonyms:

    Foal = Baby/Child

    Filly = Girl

    Colt = Boy

    Mare = Woman

    Stallion = Man

    Applebloom, Scootaloo and Sweetie Bell are all three Fillies, and all three Foals at the same time. Snips and Snails are Colts and are also Foals at the same time. However, Snips and Snails are approaching adulthood, but aren't quite considered adults as of yet even though they have their cutie marks. When that changes is somewhat unclear, but generally it's when they achieve independence.

    Um....huh. This sort of contradicts everything I've ever learned in equine studies. Except the last part, that is esentially exactly what I said before.

    This confuses me, as it contradicts actual fact. First fillies/colts/foals are synonymous, then foal is only babies, then back to synonymous.

    Bottom line, a foal is a young horse. More accurately, y'know what just...here:

    A foal is an equine, particularly a horse, that is one year old or younger. More specific terms arecolt for a male foal and filly for a female foal, but these terms are used until the horse is age three or four. When the foal is nursing from its dam (mother), it may also be called a suckling. After the young horse has been weaned from its dam, it may be called a weanling.

    After a horse is one year old, it is no longer a foal, and is called a yearling. There are no special age-related terms for young horses older than yearlings. When young horses reach breeding maturity, the terms change: a filly over the age of three is called a mare and a colt over the age of three is called a stallion.

    WIki did a pretty good job of explaining that. -_-' these terms, while I wouldn't use 'yearling' or 'weanling' necessarily in ponyverse, but that gives a good definition.

  3. hmmm.....I donno about this...this opens up a whole new, unnecessary dimension of ponies. I mean....if this is allowed, whose to stop 'wereponies' and 'vampire ponies' and the like? Where does it stop? I'd say, sure, it's okay to transform a mouse into a horse, but not a pony into a mouse. If that makes sense.

    But that's just my opinion. I'd definitely wait for mod input.

    FINALLY!!!

    It was nearly 2pm! Holly had finished her eclairs FOREVER ago, and was actually reading the NEWS she was so bored. Finally, the tired-looking stallion trotted over to her table, a slight smile on his face, "Uh...sorry about the wait, Holly."

    She was a little surprised he knew her name, "Oh it's....uh...it's no problem...uh..." Holly smiled kindly, if not awkwardly, "...Joe."

    He chuckled. Everypony thought his name was funny. Even he did. He reached around and pulled an envelope, stained with some spilt coffee and smelling of sugar, from his apron pocket, "Sorry it's a little messy. Hopefully the ink didn't run."

    She waited until he waved and moved off before she opened the envelope and dove into the letter...

    Holly trotted into Apple Acres with a cheerful bounce in her step, and a pack on her back. She had a bandage wrapped around her head from the thunk she had recieved from the fallen barn, but otherwise she was fine. It had taken a good scrub at the Ponyville Spa to get all the ash out of her fur though, but she did it. Her mane was back to it's trifecta of colors, bright and colorful as the day she was born. She trodded along towards where she saw a few ponies gathering near the broken and burnt barn, and when she saw Applejack she broke out into a run, a smile on her face.

    "Applejack, Applejack, Applejack!" She called loudly as she ran to the group, a big grin on her face as she announced, "Ah brought some berries and Ah thought we could all have a big fruit salad for breakfast!"

    She beamed at the apple family and the assembled crew, her eyes glistening, "oh, I mean....if it's okay with you, Ah mean, that is. If Ah use some of your apples, that is....if it's okay, that is....just don't want nopony goin' hungry...that is..."

    She withdrew a little, still smiling, but blushing and feeling as though she may be asking a rude question.

    Holly, mane mussy and gnarled, and a few scuffs on her fur, tapped her lip in thought. Pony Joe's for sure, she knew....but....if Gladwin was going through all this trouble, perhaps she should stop somewhere first. She put the note in her bag and headed back to the crazy hustle and bustle of town, heading off towards a shop, where she picked up a little something special for Gladwin, before heading back out and making her way towards Pony Joe's.

    The place was PACKED. Wall to wall ponies, and the proprietor of the business right in the midst of it all, running like crazy and yelling at his employees to move faster. He saw her out of the corner of his eye, and seemed to recognize her, but was gone quickly, too busy to stop and deal with something so trivial. She looked at the clock. 12:30pm. Lunch time. Everypony and their mother was here right now. She looked around. Only one table was open, and it was down to one chair. She made her way through the crowded joint and sat in the single chair, quietly fuddling around with her mane.

    "Whaddya like?" She nearly jumped as a grumpy waitress approached, haggard in appearance, her hair strewn about every which way.

    "Oh, um, um...Ah...uh....kiddy eclairs?" Holly managed. That wasn't what she wanted to say. She wanted to say 'THE NOTE!' but, the mare was off, grumbling about adult ponies ordering kids meals. She sighed as the eclairs arrived. She supposed she would have to wait until the rush died down. Hopefully, that would be by 1pm...

  7. I love RPing, and I get really into my characters. I often feel as though I...BECOME them. Like in my Jurassic Park RPs....MAN is it cool to be a raptor...

    It's like a more grown-up version of playing pretend, and you never know where the plot's going to go when the next person thinks of something CRAZY! Where, if it were just you writing a story...you have to piece it together all alone. :cry:

    ...I've done it since I was in middle school, and I think it's really enjoyable. Yes, it is only for entertainment purposes, but....what else do you really expect from the net? It's not like the random comments made in chatter and chit chat mean anything. And who knows? You could end up actually making friends with the people you RP with, I know I have. :D

    Holly Dash

    Holly jumped back as a package landed near where she was sitting, looking beat up after its long fall....as well as poorly wrapped to begin with. She smiled and sighed, knowing right away who it was from, before even looking up to see the brown shape of Gladwin zoom off in another direction. What was that goofball planning?

    She magicked the box to herself, opening the package with her magic and pulling out the note within, reading it with a bemused look on her face. She furrowed her brow, and reread it again. Tag? Oh, duh. Canter Park! But...which tree there? She sighed and tucked the letter back onto the saddlebags at her waist, and jumped off the bench, trotting along and heading to Canter Park.

    It was rather busy in Canterlot today, and it took a good hour before Holly got to the park, mane frizzled from pushing through crowds and shuffling through side streets and the hustle and bustle of everypony out and about. She gasped, panting softly as she entered the park--which was also busy. The playground was packed, and their were ponies everywhere. She pushed through them, making her way to the tree where she had made Colton crash, the only one that she could think of...she didn't see anything... She caught a flash of white out of the corner of her eye, and turned to see a bird carrying a piece of paper. She squinted, and could see some writing on the envelope.

    "Perfect." She went chasing after the bird in frustration, running through foals and around playground equipment, trying to get in range of her magic. Finally, the frightened bird landed high, high in a tree. Darn these trees for being so tall! Holly gritted her teeth as she reached with her magic, as far up as she could, but could not quite reach the bird, "Grrr....Celestia be durned!"

    She paced around the bottom of the tree, glancing up at the bird angrily, before sitting down and pouting.

    ) ) THWUMMMMM ( (

    She looked over to the playground and saw a young foal, back feet just coming down from a humming pole, looking proud of the kick he had done as his friend toppled down from the top of the pole.

    "Applejack...." she mumbled under her breath, and jumped upright, ecstatic with her epiphany, "APPLEJACK!!" She turned her rump to the tree, and rose up her rear, slamming her hooves as hard as she could onto the tree trunk. The tree shook, and the bird stumbled, but that was all it took for the note to fly free from its beak, and begin drifting towards the ground. The bird dove for it, but her magic grabbed it and yanked it down fast, and she ran away from the squawking bird, cackling victoriously, terrifying foal and pony alike. She sat down near the bridge, and opened the letter...

    Holly Dash

    Holly trotted out of the woods casually. The previous day she had shown her Griffon uhm....well, he wouldn't be a coltfriend....birdfriend? She shook the thought off. Lover? She blushed and coughed, continuing along. They had stayed at a hotel again, and she was beginning to get on herself about that. It was too expensive to be paying bits to stay in a hotel every night. She needed to get busy on putting together that big ol' stack of lumber she had near the shed. The snow was melting away, the land was officially owned by her their....there was no reason she couldn't get building. She had to tell Gladwin today. She couldn't spend any more time with him, she had to get back to doing her work, at least for a few days. The problem is, he wasn't where he was supposed to be! Holly had walked all the way to Canterlot Square when she was lost in her thoughts, where they were supposed to meet today, as the griffon said he had to run some sort of errand....she sat down on a bench with a sigh, slouching her back into the curved bench, her feat hanging over the edge as her tummy bulged out a bit, giving her a chubby appearance. She sighed. She had seen a minty colored unicorn sit like this before--the 1st place winner of the Running of the Leaves, in fact, yet...never could she figure the appeal. She rolled over and laid on her stomach like a normal pony, putting her chin on her hoof with a bored, impatient sigh.

  10. Flitwink

    Flink's ears were alert the second he heard the door to the clinic open, and he was quickly out of his desk before the applications had even been touched. His massive, bulky wings hung loosely at his side as he trotted down the hallway at his normal, speedy gait. It was the natural gait that came from being a doctor. You never knew if what was around the corner was an emergency or just a cold.

    He stopped short as he saw a stallion collapsed in the entry way. Just by looking he would say it was severe exaustion. The stallion had dark circles under his eyes, and was covered in a thin film of sweat. This observation came and was assessed within a fraction of a second, and seeing as there were no nearby nurses as they were low on staff due to the slow nature of the day, he scooped up the stallion with a wing, and slid him into place on his back before galloping off to a room, calling a nurse pony on his way to the room that was on the second floor.

    She quickly followed him into the room, and pulled out a bed for the stallion. Flink put the stallion on the bed and grabbed a nearby set of revitalizing herbs, and with a flick of a match, lit the herbs aflame, and waited for them to take affect. He would need the stallion awake to fully assess and be able to administer fluids and treatment for his exhaustion. It shouldn't be long now, the powerful aromatherapy was nearly impossible for anypony to sleep through....it filled the body with a great amount of energy. The large stallion pegasi dismissed his nurse and sat down next to the bed, waiting the white maned stallions awakening.

  11. I voted for Rarity and Pinkie Pie respectively. I mean, Rarity is the most feminine out of the mane 6, but she can be tough and take care of herself like in episode with the Diamond Dogs. And Pinkie Pie, well, she's pink. Wasn't Hasbro's whole deal with pink Celestia based only on them believing pink sells to their target audience?

    Esentially, yes. Though, the next wave (thank Celestia) is going to have remodified WHITE Celestia! OMGOSH!!! They took the best of the old--plastic wings, rather than sticks with fabric, and her hair, and gave her a white body...I've got the little tiny preview pamphlet thing....I should upload it. There's also going to be a full release of the cutie mark crusaders+cheerilee! And another filly that comes with Applejack! (for some reason. o.O)

    It took Hasbro realizing that their target audience has been missed, and finding out they have a brony audience looking for accuracy to do it, but it's happening! WHITE LESTIA!!!

  12. I use GIMP for things I couldn't do in other programs if you know what I mean.

    ...no, I have no idea what you mean, and I suddenly feel a little creeped out. XD

    I personally prefer PaintToolSAI over both PS and GIMP. It's got the same basic features as GIMP, plus quite a few of the more 'necessary' features of Photoshop. Plus, it works 10x better with a tablet, in my opinion. PS slowed down to a sluglike pace when I hooked up my tablet. *shrug* so I removed it from my PC. I now only use SAI.
