Part of my "draw every character that's associated with Ryuichi" initiative, complete with ponified oni mask! Akuma Hantā is Bellosh's Grand Admiral, who leads the entire fleet of Neighpon's armed forces while also providing strategic wisdom and counsel on the Shogunate. As for the oni mask, there's an interesting reasoning behind it, at least in my opinion...can't wait to see her on the boards! Hantā (c) Bellosh

    The Shīrudo

From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

Part of my "draw every character that's associated with Ryuichi" initiative, and so far, I've been keeping up! I just hope this artistic streak can last. The first member of Ryuichi's inner circle, and probably the closest, is his personal bodyguard that follows him around everywhere. Sandā "Raikō" Kumo is also the Head of the Guard at the Palace Castle, and keeps all the guards in tip top order in defense of the Shogunate and the Shogun. Sandā (c) PyroBlaze
  3. Of everything that could be attributed to this country, a lack of respect towards tradition was not one of them. He could say that, for sure. For Long Guo, and only Long Guo in Rakuen Ryuichi's (admittedly) limited experience, was a country that held its Empress on a level above all other peers and states. Had their positions been reversed, the Empress of Long Guo would never have been made to present herself before the Seat of the Shogun, looking up at him from a lowered position. An extravagantly elegant and formal meeting room would have done for it instead, two seats on opposing sides at the same height - a meeting of equals. Even for something so simple as a goodwill proclamation of their dual intent and willingness to ally. But no, the Dragon Children loved tradition, traditions that saw all beings (save the Dragons themselves, at that) below the Empress, and traditions were not something Ryuichi could fault in any country. They were, after all, the cornerstone of everything Neighpon had built herself upon, and the strong resistance islands like Ryushima maintained to modernization spoke to the belief of his citizens. Ancestors...traditions were exactly why the Hatamoto still existed after centuries of modernization, a veritable relic amidst a sea of bright lights and magitech. The way Neighpon still adored and venerated her Hatamoto spoke even more loudly of tradition and what it meant, even as she marched every onward towards new and magical inventions. Exactly why he was here, now - here, in the throne room of the Imperial Palace, rather than dictating a letter to be delivered by courier. While some members of the Shogunate had balked at the idea of an official presentation over a simple proclamation of good faith, others had urged him through to this public yet private appearance, going through the motions in the official setting. Such was the way it had been done before, years past, and even after communication became easier between continents, this hadn't changed. The actual format, yes, in this Long Guo was unique - but physically appearing to the country lead in question? Ryuichi would throw open The Door himself before shaming his ancestors with blatant disregard for his allies. Which is why the young Ryuma stood completely still as he waited, eyes trained upon the Dragon Throne, and years of practice kept his features almost mind-numbingly blank even as he studied the royally garbed figure in some surprise. Ancestors...how long had it been? The Empress of Long Guo was a far cry from the little foal he had known back then, met only a few times but perfectly remembered alongside his mother's words of wisdom over their future acquaintanceship. Little had he - or anyone, for that matter - known back then how serious that acquaintanceship would actually turn out to be. A potential bride offer to secure an ongoing alliance, is what they had all thought might become of that acquaintanceship, mayhaps even someone of correspondence within the Emperor's personal court. And now here she was. Ascended atop the Dragon Throne. So much for that tradition, and those same years of practice kept the wry smile from forming on his face. Sandā was, undoubtedly, keeping her head bowed at a respectful level as he, his Shīrudo, and a few other officials of note walked down the hall, but Ryuichi was unperturbed to keep his gaze on the Empress. His retinue was careful to stop a few paces back as they began to reach the end, while he alone walked the remaining few steps to stop directly at the base of the steps leading to the dais. And it was here that Ryuichi, after a careful moment's pause, lowered his head, slowly and formally, chin resting against his neckline for a moment, before he let up, golden eyes once again returning to the face of the Empress resplendent. Far cry, most certain. "Long live Her Imperial Majesty, the Empress of the Great Féng Dynasty, Heavenly Daughter of Dragons, Sovereign of Ten Thousand Years," Ryuichi intoned, voice ringing in the silent hall. "Her Majesty honors all of Neighpon with Her gracious invitation." The ceremonial armor he wore, covered and complimented by the equally ceremonial robe of intricate and detailed design, gave visage to a warrior prince as Ryuichi remained at his full height, eyes steady on the Empress. "I present myself, in the halls of the Dragon Throne, to declare the intentions of myself and my country honorable, and to seek a lasting friendship with Her Imperial Majesty, and the great nation of Long Guo." ...And, of course, his nose was itchy. It never failed - start a speech, something started to itch. Either it was a condition he was unaware of, or one of his ancestors had a Door-cursed sense of cosmic humor.
  4. I like this redesign, definitely gives off the feel of a martial arts master. Though I think his mustache (at least that's what I assume it is?) would look better underneath the nostrils, rather than running across the bridge of his nose. Other than that, love the new hairstyle!

    The Shogun

http://media.steampowered.com/steamcommunity/public/images/items/34330/cf8edefdd2ed7e9d8b1b33b28d3b1452c419f654.jpg That's the image his outfit is based on - and his horns! They even grew out asymmetrically, to mimic the half-slope of the design. That headpiece (or variations on it) is a pretty important design on shoguns, so I was trying to figure out a way to pay homage to it without needing Ryuichi to wear a helmet all the time...before it hit me. There's nothing say that horns have to grow back over the head in every instance, maybe some of them grow out to the sides. -is a mad evil genius. Mad, I tells ya!-

    Raijū

    From the album: OC Art

I don't think I've been so inspired by a new character since Mei. All these Qilins and Ryumas, man. I love 'em. Raijū is Ryuichi's personalized and custom golem, a gift from his mother after his successful return from the military. It's made from corundum, a very tough material that when broken off, tends to break off in jagged and sharp edges. Being relatively low to the ground, Raijū is a fighting golem more suited to defense and speed, but the power crystals that give it life pack a wallop as well. Manifesting as streaks of purple lightning, its main power crystal is buried deep within its core, but a smaller one is also situated on its chest that's meant to absorb magical shockwaves. Also, size comparison to an average pony. Didn't want to make it too big, but it's definitely suppose to be a gigantic behemoth that causes neck cramps, especially when it's not slouched over. Basically, I just wanted to conceptualize Ryuichi's golem for my own reference and the reference of others, and I have to say, I like the end result, even if it is unbelievably messy!

    The Shogun

    From the album: OC Art

If you've checked out my relationship planning thread for this guy, you've probably already seen this picture. See it again! Funnily enough, this was actually the concept art for the character, meaning it was the first picture I drew of him. He's decked out in his formal robes and armor, the very picture of a stern and stoic Shogun...but then I realized that I should probably settle on his overall look before I decided on his color scheme (i.e., do I like the way he looks because of the colors of the robe, will I like the way he looks without any clothing at all, do his golden horns only look okay because of the gold trim, etc). Which is how I ended up with two drawings of the character before he was even apped. Total first for me, in a good way. This picture is going to eventually be his character log art once I get the actual banner done with. Productivity!
  8. From the album: OC Art

I'm finding a new love of Ryumas...this makes my third one total. Not that I'm complaining, because I really like how he turned out. Rakuen Ryuichi is the Shogun of Neighpon who's got big hooves to fill. His approach to ruling is practical, almost clinical, but still with an empathetic sense of protection that seeks to better Neighpon as a whole. He's also going to need a lot of help, meaning plenty of open positions in his household! Want to app a character of influence and power in Neighpon, and confer closely with the Shogun in RPs? Check out the relationship planning thread I have for him, to see what sort of positions are open (or to toss out some of your own ideas)!
  9. AHAHAHA. You know, I really didn't even think about that, though that totally makes sense. No, for me, fem!Shepard is canon, so it made sense for him to dye his mane red to match the "canon" look. Even though I think Shepard is suppose to be a guy in canon, Jennifer Hale will always be the Commander Shepard for me. Her voice acting was just so much more alive for me, that I think I played a speed-run of the Mass Effect series as a male Shepard just to experience it. All other run-throughs have been with fem!Shep, because she is awesome. Commander Shepard is a woman in my head!canon, just like Hawke is a woman in my Dragon Age head!canon. *hurriedly cuts self off before the full-on onset of a blatant Bioware fan-girlish squealing rant and rave*

Inkbrand would totally be "that guy" who participates in Nightmare Night with a bedsheet thrown over his head, just because the ultra simplicity and cliched-ness of the outfit would be a costume in and of itself. But I kind of wanted a more "serious" costume for him this year, and after brainstorming a bit, finally decided on Commander Shepard from Mass Effect. ...Oh sorry. Mares Effect, the super successful three-part Bridleway saga that had you spellbound, enchanted, eager for more, and speechless in incompetent rage at its color-coded finale. (Honestly, I didn't think the ending to the series was that bad, but it definitely wasn't stellar, either). Also, credit goes to this picture for the conceptualization of the outfit, because there was no way I was attempting to mold an N7 uniform onto a pony's body from scratch. 11. From the album: OC Art

M'not kidding with the title. I'm not really sure what I intended Yuri to be. Actually, I don't think she was meant to really be anything, except sort of dressed up for the festivities of costuming. The sash that is flowing around her body was sort of reminiscent of sashes some eastern dragons are depicted trailing while they hold pearls in their claws. I always loved how they constantly moved along with the dragon's hair, never falling and sometimes not even fastened to the body at all, like in this picture. Just held aloft by the dragon's innate magic and aura. The hat is... There. It's just there.
  12. From the album: OC Art

Probably akin to the bedsheets draped over the head for a ghost costume, is Mei's own garb. But, given her relatively poor status, I figure she wouldn't have a bunch of flashy stuff to throw together for Nightmare Night. It's not like she's going to wear her fine silks while tromping around through the dirt, pshaw. Mei's costume for Nightmare Night, featuring a plastic horn and equally plastic wings. If you can't tell what she's dressing up as, then get thee to Bellosh's profile, ASAP! Cadence (c) Hasbro

    Bluebelle

    From the album: MLP Characters

PrinceBlueblood is one of those guys that consistently shows support for my artwork, liking and commenting on pretty much everything I upload. And since I was in the mood to try and practice my CGing skills, I decided to attempt and draw the one canon character he RPs that I know fairly well, because he's all over the forums. In a good way~ Prince Blueblood, also known as Bluebelle while in female form, was pretty fun to draw, though credit to his genderbent design comes from this picture, which I think is a rather elegant look. Either way, it was good practice, because I normally don't attempt this style of art very often. I still have trouble trying to solidify 'lines' to make the entire piece look more solid and less airy and smudged. Still, the end result was pretty darn good if I do say so myself, especially for an art style I only try once in a blue moon. Blueblood (c) Hasbro

    Human!Arc

    From the album: OC Art

I did actually start drawing a pony today, but I wasn't liking how they were turning out, so I settled on some more human practice, to further my quest for humanized versions of all my OCs. Fabled Archives is a character I never use at all, and who's only been in one Skype RP total, a fact that I find really sad. His concept is one of my favorite amongst all my OCs, yet my locating him in Unyasi made it difficult to find RPs for him to join. I really do want to use him more frequently, so he's going to be relocating back to Equestria soon, probably with Heartless giving up on using his disguise once he learns the scion is back home. But in any case - rich, luxurious cloths and silks for the noble heir. Arc may have no problem wallowing in the mud like the common folk, but that doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate the finer things in life, either~

    GtPO Runner-Up #2

No worries RainbowFoxxy! I don't think you missed it - this was one of the pictures I uploaded and subsequently had to re-upload, after the forum changes that took place a while ago and they had to be rolled back to restore old posts. I'm pretty sure you commented on it the first time around!

    Human!Yue

From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

Bellosh and I were musing and discussing things awhile ago, about - if he were to join the EQG AU currently transpiring on the forums - which character he would use. He eventually theorized he'd use Yue if he joined the AU, which got me thinking what a human!Yue might look like, hence this picture. Nothing terribly intuitive about this. The hair came out really nicely, though by comparison the rest of the picture is pretty blah. But I was too lazy to try and make it any prettier, because my human pictures looks best as really messy and hard to discern sketches, lulz. I really struggled with the facial structure, particularly the eyes, though that's pretty on par with most human sketches I do. I also went with a pale, porcelain skin color rather than true EQG fashion, because those blue, green, purple, and whatever-colored skin tones still creep me out. Still, not too bad, especially considering that I haven't drawn anything in...months! I should probably start drawing ponies again, before I completely forget how... Yue (c) Bellosh
  18. The background on this is really bee-hee-hee-u-ti-ful. Love the fluffy clouds, and how small Celestia seems in comparison~

    Starshine

Huh blargle flaffluss. Those are my exact words to express how beautiful this picture is, because my brain is a derp. The only criticism I have is on the hair. Because there's so much gorgeous detail on the bangs and highlights, by comparison the rest of the hair looks almost drab. I would maybe try adding that same detail to the non-highlighted parts, expect maybe using darker colors to express shadows? That way the entire hair looks detailed and you still get your highlights vs regular hair spots. But honestly, it doesn't detract away from the overall effect of this picture. Like, seriously McDerp. I still go back and look at your older pictures where you first started experimenting with a new shading technique, and your progress is literally mind-blowing. MIND-BLOWING.
  21. Fun fact: I've always been a sucker for anime guys with white hair. Especially if they have darker or tanned skin. Don't know why, but that look has always appealed to me. Awesome work, for a first time experience! The detail on the mask is especially delightful~
  22. Lookit her, all ready and excited for a shopping trip. Those designer bags aren't going to buy themselves! Thanks so much for the picture, Shimmer looks adorable~

    Fuyu Tsuki

    What do you mean?

    Fuyu Tsuki

    From the album: OC Art

I realized the other day that I had no female characters who were competent fighters. All of the girls I have fulfilled niches that had no physical conflict involved in them whatsoever. So I decided to make a ninja character, to compliment my samurai. Tsuki is generally an agreeable sort of Ryuma, but she's got some grand ideals about getting vengeance against the Imperial Dynasty for 'destroying' her family's way of life, way back when her ancestors migrated from Long Guo after its unification. She'll be using her ninja training to try and subtly sabotage any Long Guo workings she can. ...We'll see how that goes for her.
  25. Nocturne Wisp is the head of his own research lab and gives the occasional lecture/seminar...but, I think he'd be a journeypony. He's a specialist in the field of magical anomalies, but more on the research side rather than being a true expert yet. Any lectures he gives are usually more to share his research and findings than actual teachings. Plus, the guild is already heavily leaning towards masters. Need to even things out with the lower ranks~
