1. It was another great day! Great day for work that is! The giddy tan unicorn bounced happily from table to table making sure that the chairs were in their right positions and what not. And once she finished among the tables she took a good look over by the front door. The front entrance was directly in the middle of the wall with two windows right on its left and right. Upon entering the door one would first be greeted by the ever tantalizing smell of coffee beans and freshly baked goodies. Whether they be cookies or biscuits or whatever! And the ears would be flooded with the smooth sounds of sweet jazz chords and notes as they played just soft enough to be heard. After you get past the smell one can see what is inside the cafe. The cafe is basically all wood with wooden floors and walls but with protection from fire where necessary. It is well lit with hanging lanterns and a lights as well. The lanterns are only on the tables that the customers can light for themselves if they choose to do so. The tables and chairs were both wood was well but the chairs had cushions for the ponies who wanted to sit in them. The tables were just big enough to hold enough stuff necessary for a good meal with easy space. After getting past the tables and chairs it is a straight shot to the front desk where a window pane blocks a few goods that are freshly backed and ready to go. Only reachable by the mare behind the counter. Such as donuts and biscuits and crumpets and cookies but most importantly...the Scones. Each category with different types of ways to bake them for the customer's choice. And behind the counter is a register and all the things needed to make her baking easy. Such as a stove and two or three coffee makers and what not. If one were to look directly left from the front of the counter one would see another room that had more chairs and tables in it. But this room had a small stage big enough for a band to play on. It had a mic on stage but everything else the band needed to bring themselves. This was the stage where Carmella wanted to have a permanent jazz band playing at all times. Right now all she had was the small record player playing some of her favorite tunes by the counter. Which was playing music always. And that's basically the whole cafe. It was big enough to seat good sized groups but it was fairly new. It had white outside walls with accenting tan every here and there. Plus with a nice big cute sign that read, "Carmella's Cup". The mare took a deep breath and slowly made her way to the front door. The small white sign on the door became trapped in a dark tan aura and then flipped over to read, "Open!" to all passing ponies. Carmella looked out the window and propped herself up against the window seal. She looked to the front of her store and thought it would be a good idea to have some tables and chairs outside the cafe in the front. But she would need bits... So Carmella pushed off of the window seal and then made her way behind the counter. She looked up above at the menu as it listed all types of drinks from water to the most diverse type of cappuccino any would want. And the number of deserts and snacks and a few sandwich types. All fairly priced in her opinion. The mare turned her head and pushed her long elegant mane out of her face and stood there waiting. For Carmella's Cup was now open for business!
2. The city of Canterlot is full of the hustle and bustle of life. Ponies working tirelessly, to go home and go to bed only to repeat this cycle once more. Life if rough and sometimes everypony needs to find an escape, whether it be through designing, painting, writing, or music. Everypony has an escape, and the real masterminds behind these escapes are the ones who work tirelessly through their art. Every once in a while several artist like to gather at events held across equestria. This year the honor of holding the 'gathering of art' event is held by Canterlot. This is a little place where artists can finally let their hair down and have a conversation with others in their profession. Octavia, wearing her normal white collar and pink bow-tie, strode across the marble floor of the massive gathering hall. Her spirits were high, and her hopes of meeting new people were higher. Around her were groups of several other ponies who all were fellow artists from their respective communities. This had been the first time that she had been able to attend Gathering of Art or G.A. for short. She hoped to meet others who shared her interests in music, activities, and fashion sense. Of course if there was ever a place for her to meet someone like that, it would be here.
3. Canterlot. It was a city that to Crystal Snowflake embodied her youth's dreams. It represented the immaculate ideal of opulence and luxury that in her fillyhood had driven her forward. It was in trying to reach this city the first time that she achieved her cutie mark. It was in trying to reach the city again that she pulled herself up the ladder of success. In finding Stalliongrad and Northern Storm, the importance of the city had slipped for her yet nevertheless it still held a deep symbolic significance as a fanciful city of dreams. She was here that day for a somewhat curious reason. She still really wasn't sure how to feel about it still. A sort of anxiety like that she hadn't felt since her filly years had a hold on her. It had been a whim--or maybe rather it was jealousy. Crystal wasn't entirely sure what to call it. All she knew for sure is that she had filled out a form for a matchmaker service in Fillydelpha--the same her daughter had apparently used to find her confused happiness--and had promptly received a match. She wasn't sure what to expect or even what she wanted from this. Regardless, an opportunity to visit Canterlot and take in a performance at the Royal Theatre was not about to squandered. Presently a carriage was taking her to the theatre while her bags were delivered to the Hightower Hotel where they would be staying. She would meet up with her date there and then the night would begin. The stallion she was to meet went by the name Dr. Merlot. Evidently he was suitably wealthy, intelligent and refined. He was identified as an archaeologist, a field Crystal did have some interest in as a collector of gems and other fine, old things that needed be dug up from the ground. She was rather excited to talk with him, as he did sound like a pony who might actually be on her level. At the same time, his name sounded eerily familiar to her. She couldn't get over the sense that she might already be somehow acquainted to this stallion. As the carriage pulled up to the theatre, Crystal descended gracefully. The pegasus mare was attired in an elegant deep violent gown and matching fashionable hat; her medium blue mane was gently curled for the occasion. She had confidence that she looked good and it showed in her strong posture. Now she need only find her date for the evening. From what the matchmaker had said she had little more to go on than that he evidently dressed himself typically in a khaki coat. Eager, Crystal began to search for a stallion matching that description.
4. (( PM if you want in - I'd like it if you either were a weather pegasus, or otherwise had a good reason to be there after everypony else is on their way home. )) It was a dark and stormy night, following up a very, very long day... the storm had come up out of the Everfree Forest as if from nowhere. What had been scheduled as a calm, peaceful afternoon that was slightly cloudy and with a touch of a cool breeze ... had turned into gale-force winds in a matter of twenty minutes. Dash had led the Ponyville weather team in against the gale, but it was no local mess - She heard reports of flooding as far south as Dodge Junction, and tornadoes as far north as Stalliongrad. It was a doozy, that much was certain! Time after time, she'd pulled back to build up a new front of conflicting air and brought it in to break up another segment of the storm, yelling orders with her powerful set of lungs to ponies she could see as no more than silhouettes in the volatile storm, except when the frequent flashes of lightning showed her that she was no longer giving orders to Ponyville pegasus ponies - but complete strangers. No matter, she had authority, and every pegasus was on the same team in an emergency like this! It wasn't long before they knew they'd never be able to give that peaceful summer afternoon that they'd promised Equestria ... nor even a peaceful night. The best they could hope was to break the cyclonic thunderheads into 'just' a powerful thunderstorm, sparing Equestria as much destruction as they could. By the time the storm had finally been broken, it had swept across most of the Nimbusgait Lakes, and by asking the local ponies where she was, she could only determine that she was somewhere north of Canterlot. And apparently, it was well after midnight. She'd been fighting the storm nonstop for more than half a day! Once the adrenaline wore off, the weariness set in quite quickly. No way she was making it back to Ponyville without a rest, not in the storm that still roared outside. She flew heavily over Canterlot with wings that felt made of wood, landing heavily before one of the few places that still looked open. Ponyland, a nice looking little jazz club. She stepped inside, and with aching hooves she peeled off the leather helmet and the goggles that were misting up her vision. Her coat shivered as she shook off sheets of rainwater. She ran her hooves through her tamped-down mane, but nothing was getting that to stand up again anytime soon ... no worries. Not like she'd meet anypony she knew here at two in the morning, other than the fellow pegasus ponies that were landing along with her, eager to get a drink and celebrate a job well done.
5. Ghost Writer danced on her hooves outside the Cafe Viridian. It was a hole in the wall little place with no sign. It was only distinguished by a green door, uncharacteristic in Canterlot on the whole. Ghost Writer had only learned of it because her brother had helped the little cafe start up. It was the sort of place that only stayed in business because of its regulars. They made enough money to keep the owners and employees living comfortably and to keep the little cafe open, and that was all they seemed to want. It was Ghost Writer's favorite cafe. She knew the entire waitstaff by name, and they all knew her by name. They knew the troupe schedule, too, and when the troupe was in Canterlot on break they kept Ghost's spot open. A spacious corner booth where she could spread out her writing materials and work on whichever novel or play needed completing at that moment. Sometimes regulars she'd gotten to know would join her and ask after her work while they drank their teas, but usually it was just Ghost, with troupe members coming and going occasionally. Today was different. Today was the very last day of the troupe's break, and it was time for everyone to get together and start preparing to leave on their route once again. Old members and new alike would be meeting Ghost in her corner booth today, and she was a little antsy. The old members hadn't met the new mebmers yet. She wasn't worried about how Double Tap or Pierrot would react to them, but Spotlight could be a problem. Finally, she shook off her nerves. She'd keep Spotlight from being a problem. She would. She had to. Into the Cafe Viridian she walked. The waitstaff already had her tea and scone prepared at her place, and she slid into the booth and sipped at her tea, awaiting her troupe.
6. Life was funny sometimes. At times it could be so laughably simple and unbearably routine, at others a confusing, incoherent mess that was impossible to figure out. For Radiant Steel, fresh faced private with REA Garrison force, it could so very frequently be both at the same time. Perhaps the pegasus just had an unfortunate habit of over-thinking everything, but despite having been for all accounts tethered her whole life to the same few names, faces, locations and expectations Radiant found that she so often just couldn't quite piece it all together. The introduction of new pieces to the puzzle could only make things more confusing. She had met Seeker in the Whitetail Woods. She had helped him find and rescue his dog Blacky. Helping ponies was part of her job description; she honestly wouldn't have expected it to go beyond that initial encounter. Seeker had had different ideas though; in reward for her help, he had prepared for her a spectacular. Following that the two ponies had went with Blacky to the park to spend the evening enjoying one another's company. Radiant still wasn't sure how to feel about what had happened. That's not to say a lot did happen-- the day was about as relaxing as was imaginable. A number of Radiant's fellow soldiers and even her own brother had labeled it a "date" though, and Radiant wasn't entirely sure that wasn't the right word-- dating wasn't something the mare was all together familiar with. The events had kind of felt like she had imagined dates to feel though, and regardless it had been an entirely pleasant experience for her. If nothing else, Seeker (and Blacky) could now be counted among the select few Radiant considered friends. The mare just wasn't sure how to feel about this beyond that. The sun was on the rise and she was standing at the main entrance to the city of Canterlot wearing her golden armor. A night had passed and now Seeker was to leave. She was to see him off that morning. Was that is? Was this to just be a fleeting encounter, something of which nothing became? Radiant didn't know for certain, and somehow not knowing left her feeling kind of empty. What happened next? Anything? Or was it just back to the same routine, the pony she had spent the previous evening with gone to only be a memory in her head? The mystery of it all hung heavy with her, but in that moment she supposed it didn't really matter all that much. She was here to see Seeker off. When it came to whatever it was that might happen after that, she'd just have wait and see. She'd deal with it all as it came.
7. Fleur decided that it was time she did something for Canterlot! After renting a lovely room and posting fliers, Fleur was making sure every last second detail was finished! She was having a public and FREE Tea Party! Showing off all sorts of talents, from tea makers, to pastry bakers! Wanting Citizens to taste and experience some little known wonders that they would usually snub due to them not possessing a flashy shop, or a high price tag! The room was set with scores of tables, all covered in soft white table cloths, each table sat up like a buffet, each decked with at least 5 beautiful tea pots, all sprouting it's own unique tea, and a label stating what kind it is and who made it. There was a second batch of tables all decorated with tons of Petifores(small cakes), tiny hoof sandwiches, and all sorts of other tiny munchies ! Also labeled and marked...each table having waitstaff to serve the delicacies up and many lovely tables to sit, as well as benches in the gardens for outside relaxing. Now that she was sure everything was ready Fleur darted to her dressing room! Wanting to look..simple and elegant today, by wiping off her normally purple eye make up and putting on a soft mint green shade instead, her mane styled to gently hang in her face in the front, the rest pulled into a bun, a sprig of mint and some flowers attached to it with a hair clip. To complete the look she wore a silver locket baring her namesake.. a Fleur De Lis "Zhere now I hope zhat ponies show up for a bit of refreshment!" She tittered happily, it was so nice to do nice things! Besides it would make her look REALLY good too so BONUUUUS!
8. It seemed such a simple thing when they'd talked it over in Ponyville. As soon as Sugar Apple had been decommissioned from the hospital and caught up with any work backlog, she could come and visit Earth Writer in Canterlot that weekend. They'd even fixed a spot to go to, a pastry shop where one of her cousins worked. As first dates go, the setup was a simple business. *That really should have been my first clue. No plan survives first contact with, well, reality.* Earth Writer thought as he paced up and down the train station platform, as nervous a stallion as ever waited for a date to arrive. The first problem, he supposed, was that they hadn't fixed a set day, not that they could have, given all the contingencies that could have come up. But when the letter had finally come from Cloudsdale that the pegasus mare would be coming down that weekend, guess what day that fell on? That's right, Hearts and Hooves day. It just had to, didn't it? The very day set up to celebrate the idea of finding one's "special somepony," and generally accumulating traditions dedicated to celebrating each other. This would mark the first year that the unicorn would have anything close to a marefriend on that day, and the stress was starting to get to him. What was he expected to do? The notion of just having a simple get-together just didn't seem to wash with the whole holiday. On the other hand, Sugar Apple didn't seem to be the sort that would stand on ceremony, unlike most of the ponies who lived in this city. But then, he really hadn't known her for long enough to say for certain what her expectations would be. *Flowers, flowers should work. They look pretty, make a nice snack, fit in very well with the whole atmosphere. No mare was ever upset to receive them... right?* The bouquet he'd gotten, at the usurious price determined by the timing of his purchase, was held steady in the glow of his magic, but gripped tight. The ironic thing was, one of the things which had attracted Earth Writer to Sugar had been the way in which he felt at ease around her. She just had a way about her, perhaps the gentile, yet down-to-earth country manner in which she carried herself, that could allow the unicorn to let go of his tension. The corollary of this, however, was that on his own, the stress now had a free hand to make him freak out slightly. Still, as the train pulled in, he could let himself relax just a little bit. *This is Sugar Apple we're talking about. It's not as if she doesn't like you. She agreed to the date, you can relax. Everything's going to be just fine...*
9. Past the ornate doors of the palace entrance, through the gilded vestibule lies the foyer of the castle proper. The atmosphere seemed abuzz with energy, lit by the warm glow of aether lamps and candlelight. Period banners and Army battle standards adorned the walls, highlighted by suits of armor and cases of ancient weapons wielded by the oldest heroes of Equestria. Ponies milled about in the foyer before the event proper, some catching up with family and friends while others waited for an opportunity to see the princess, or perhaps catch a photograph with her! “Come now, we’ll be late!” The voice came from a pegasus stallion with a coat of ruddy brown, accented by white feathered fetlocks and a sabled tuft of a beard trimmed to military regulation. The older stallion was heavily built, his shoulders seemingly cast from bronze and his facial features chiseled from solid granite. Despite the wrinkles and his sabled mane and tail, he was very much the quintessence of an REA soldier. Armor was unnecessary for this storied warrior; his formal military regalia was enough. Retirement was a double-edged sword for Colonel Ironwing. On the one hoof, he could come and go as he pleased. The army no longer set his schedules and told him where to go or what to do. When he traveled to the far-flung lands beyond Equestria, it was on his own terms. Pension was good and free time was bountiful. Of course, on the other hoof, having free time and not much to fill it with was something Ironwing couldn’t stand. PT, meditation, and scholarly study would only stretch so far. But there was hope. One of the ideas that had been idling on the table of the castle committee and the CRPR was something that the colonel had long supported. At long last his projects were finally coming to fruition. Though he was long-retired, his legacy made him the stallion of choice for hosting such a thing as the Army Ball. Of course, no party would be complete without guests of honor, and what a guest she was! It was always an honor to serve the princesses, and the newly returned Luna was no exception. As they continued on, the scintillations of camera flashbulbs on the mezzanine made themselves apparent. The photo booth was just ahead. “Your Majesty,” Aristotle smiled and swept a hoof across the expanse of the foyer. “Your humble audience awaits!”
10. The train ride to Canterlot was a marvelous thing. In between the tunnels that found themselves periodically built around the tracks, one could simply look out the window and be awed by the view -- and to a certain extent, a little humbled by the view. This was certainly the case for a certain red-velvet coloured stallion, who let loose a small gasp at the city so far off in the distance, steadily drew closer and closer. This might have drawn a little attention to the unicorn, had he not been rare enough to board one of the emptier trains; as it stood, he was the only one in his cabin to enjoy the view. If it were less spectacular, he might have been a touch lonely. As the train gradually shortened the distance the excitement for the unicorn simply grew until he was convinced it was tangible in the air. "I'm going to Canterlot" he thought. Indeed, little else could be on his mind, and time seemed to slow down and speed up simultaneously until, dramatically, the train slowed to a halt at Canterlot station. The unicorn resisted the urge to bound out the doors and dash off to go sightseeing. Despite practically beaming with joy, he had heard all kinds of stories of the more judgmental upper class in the city. It was important to maintain composure. Stepping off the tracks, the first thing he noticed was a slight breeze. The second thing he noticed, was, well, he couldn't help but voice his thoughts: "I am standing on a castle, literally carved into a mountain." If one listened closely, one could even here a slight squee punctuating the sentence. Taking a happy sigh, he started forward. And then he promptly stopped. Looking down, he noticed a hat. Not realizing he was still thinking aloud, he continued, "Hmm... the breeze must have taken some pony's hat." He stared thoughtfully at it, before his horn glowed and levitated it into his outstretched hoof. Dusting it off, he examined it before adorning it over his steel coloured hair. Content with his souvenir, and deciding that its owner must not miss it in such a high class society, he rounded a corner into the street. Ten minutes later, he was hopelessly lost, and enjoying every minute of it. As he wandered about, he must have looked very much like a tourist struck with sightseeing syndrome. He couldn't help but look with awe at every building. The care that was put into each one boggled the mind. As a budding architect himself, he practically stood and applauded a particularly regal looking house. Caught up in all the joys of the moment, he practically didn't see the staircase in front of him. He fell down the flight before you could say 'Equestria's funniest home videos' before landing in something resembling a sprawled out snow Pegasus mixed with that pose you end up when you fall backwards into bed. Chuckling at the mere thought of what he must have looked liked, he joked aloud "Ten out of ten for the landing. I'd say I stuck that. Wait... how did this hat not fall off?" Standing himself up, he brushed his coat off, straightened his tail a little, then chuckled again, albeit more privately. At this point, he was enjoying himself a bit too much to remember that bit about the high class society.
11. Zecora had decided that now was the time...She had been in Ponyville for quite a while and wanted to explore more of Equestria! She packed her saddlebags and stepped on to the train, riding it happily to Canterlot...She had never ridden a train before and the experience was so exciting! Zecora was deeply fond of new experiences!..The looming peaks of the Canterlot buildings drew ever closer and soon enough her train had stopped. Zecora stepped out of the train and glanced up, her eyes widening in surprise at the sight of the massive city that lay all around her! It was like a jungle in it of itself! Zecora was eager to see all the wares the shop keepers had to offer! To taste the unique foods, to hear the music! But for a moment Zecora felt like a little filly all over again, very small and very lost, and it was for a second that she stood there doing nothing! But just like that she shook her head to clear it "No no no! This will never do! Zecora behave we have exploring to do!" After giving herself the kick in the butt she needed, Zecora continued her walking, a nice paced, quick trot so she could cover as much ground in one day as possible! Oh this was so exciting!
12. Should anypony in Canterlot have been unfortunate enough to be craving donuts that day, they would find that Canterlot's most beloved donut shop was closed. For renovations. Construction ponies swarmed the shop, hard at work building what appeared to be some kind of expansion. It was not too difficult to miss that the construction ponies had been treated to complimentary donuts and coffee. There was also a sign: DONUT JOE'S CLOSED. In addition, there were some directions to Joe's... Donut Stand. Donut Joe whistled a little to himself as he worked his magic to keep his donuts warm and fresh. Outside conditions weren't exactly ideal conditions but he was making do. It must have been an odd sight, seeing the unicorn baker in somepony's (a friend of his) front yard selling a very limited selection of donuts and coffee. Joe himself probably didn't care much how odd a sight he was. He wasn't going to let construction interfere with his business. With his friend's permission, he had even been allowed to set up some tables in case ponies wanted to hang out while they chowed down on their donuts. Now, he waited. And waited. He wondered if he should make a bigger sign.
13. "Eureka," Sweet Surprise said bursting from the kitchen dressed in a lab coat stained with different types of chocolates and candies, a surgeon's mask, and a pair of safety goggles, "After months of melting, mixing, and or course tasting, I made the perfect chocolate! According to my sweet research, chocolate is known as a... what the name... afar... affable... affordable... oh I remember an aphrodisiac! Yes it was that word which was something that could make a pony love another. I think I found that essence, what makes chocolate a great thing for love, and this is it!" She held in her hand a small test tube filled with a brown liquid, like diluted chocolate syrup. "Now all I need is a test subject. Guess that means me. Oh, I hope that this stuff will make me more loveable towards a special somepony stallion!" She opened the bottle, a scent of rich chocolate filling her nostrils. She then drank the entire test tube and waited. "No changes yet. Oh well, I guess I need to open up the store!" Throwing off her Mad Scientist costume, she flipped the sign to Open and waited for the first customer.
14. As the sun rises on a new School session, Jetstream sits in his office, I wonder what my students will be like this time? He hears the background of morning in Canterlot reach its peak, as ponies travel to work, Ok, no point in just sitting here, I better open up and finish getting ready . As he walks to the front door he adjusts one of the portraits of his graduate's which had been nudged off kilter, he unlocks the front door and wanders towards the field, checking on his balloon to ensure that it was well tethered, expecting at least one trainee balloonist in today's group. he then wanders back to his desk. As he is adjusting the stack of flyers on his desk on fight safety, he hears someone enter, Hi there, are you looking to enrol in one of my classes today? It's a new session for pegasus ponies balloonists and airship pilots, all are welcome here, whether they are born with wings or just love the feel of the wind in their mane.
15. Drake was busy hanging up and hoofing out flyers for a little meeting he was holding tonight. He had rented out a meeting room in a spiffy hotel, which he had to rid himself of quite a few bits. Not that he minded. It was all for the greater good of science and his research. The flyers read, "Greetings! I, Drake Whistler, have arranged to have a meeting set up for the discussion of the topic of dragons. I find them very interesting, and would like to discover what you think! Any piece of information or gossip or even personal experience you have had with dragons would be greatly appreciated. The meeting hall is located..." It went on after that to give the specific details of the meeting. Hopefully, the majority of the ponies would attend later this evening, but he had mentioned that anytime that would be convenient for each individual pony would be fine. It was currently just after noon, and he needed to make his way back to the meeting hall. He hung his last flyer and nodded, satisfied. He turned around, scooping up the rest of his flyers. Sticking them in his pack, he made his way through the throng of the Canterlot Plaza. He found the hustle and bustle slightly comforting, Sometimes it was like this in Cloudsdale, his home town. Though most of the ponies here were more... refined. And sometimes snooty. But that was none of his concern currently. That is, until he suddenly bumped into someone, dropping his pack. Papers had spewed everywhere. He shook his head. "I apologize for that. I should've been watching where I was going." He began picking up the spilled documents. He was so focused on the endeavor, he hadn't bothered to look at the other pony. He finished gathering up his papers, stuck them back into his pack, and was about to continue on his way when he heard a unfamiliar voice say, "Excuse me? Sir?" He turned with a "Yes?"
16. The ornate doors of the palace complex stand open, aglow with the soft light of aetherlamps. A red carpet traces a path from the castle gates through the courtyard, and into the castle foyer. At the head of this carpet stand guards in formal armor, checking in their comrades and their friends and family to the festivities beyond. You step up to the cordon and the guard ushers you through. The air itself seems alive as ponies clad in military regalia and formal wear mill about on the carpet and the warm strains of jazz music waft from within the castle walls. The entire night awaits you. What will you do?
17. Regal could not believe she had overslept! She rushed down the street to her small shop hurriedly, hoping nopony would be awaiting her at the door. "Half an hour!" She shouted at herself aloud without meaning to. How could she do this, she never overslept! It was all the birds fault she decided, chirping wonderfully outside her window and lulling her back to sleep. She would remind herself later to shoo them away. She did not have time for over sleeping, she was a working mare and had to prove herself if she ever wanted to be worthy of being a royal armorer. At least some luck held out as nopony was standing outside her doors waiting for her! She ran up to the small shops front entrance and fumbled for her keys. The building was a decent size with plain brick walls, the two windows on the front set in purple sills. between the windows sat a metal door with a big lock. The back half of the building was sealed off but seemed as if it could be opened up on the lower half to allow access. Regal finally got her keys in hoof and unlocked the door. She left it hanging open welcomingly as she turned the sign in the window around and began to open up the smithy. Curtains opened, candles were lit in dark corners, and the back entrance was opened with a bit of magical effort from the unicorn. She was ready for business and in record time! She could not help but feel proud of herself as she looked around her forge. She had come far since her days as an apprentice and someday she may just find her dreams in reach. That day was not today though and thee was work to be done! She lit up the forge and started cleaning her tools, she had a few commissioned pieces to finish up but they would be done quickly enough. She was ready and waiting for more to come, her eyes wandering to the door in case she missed an entering customer and the bells that would jingle if the door moved.
18. It was time now for a new change, Cashmere loved making his saddlebags, it was a passion that he truly loved! But as he grew mentally as well as talently he was really starting to understand what his special talent meant, it wasn't just sewing and making BAGS, rather he had a talent for making things custom and special for a individual pony! Something as special and unique as the pony themself! So now he was in Canterlot! On the look out for new fabrics and such to expand his horizons, he had made himself a few outfits for occasions but had never truly been confident to make anything for anypony else! And he certainly didn't wish to compete with Miss Rarity and her boutique! So this was mostly a getting his hooves wet sort of of deal.. Some inspirational pony or fabric to get the creative juices flowing! Someone so unique that their very presence beckoned the stallion to make them an outfit just for them! Plus in Canterlot he was a nopony so nopony back home would laugh at him if his outfits weren't that good..
19. El drew a purposeful breath, eyes closed. She could feel the tickle of faint sunbeams warming her shoulders as they poured in through her back window. Somewhere out in the garden she could hear Blue, her little fairy wren, chirping away. Her wake-up call. It was odd for her to be awake before his morning song, but today just seemed like one of those days where she was going to be a little more on the ball than usual, and she was always grateful for those little bursts of energy. Finally she opened her eyes and made her way to the kitchen, where she took dough that she had already made and started to bake her pastries for the day. She then made her way to the garden doors, which began to glow with golden light and slide open. “Morning,” she sang out softly as Blue drifted down from her elder tree to land on her back. Her soft, golden eyes took sharp notice of the berries on her tree: many of them were turning plump and black, causing the branches they were hanging on to sag a little. Midsummer was approaching quickly! The young mare could not wait to see the berries ripen. Quickly (but carefully) sweeping her gaze over the garden, El set to work. Like clockwork, a set of tin watering cans painted blue and decorated with white flowers began to lift into the air, bouncing lightly in the unicorn’s golden magic. Very calmly, she spread them out over the garden to water her flowers, and when she was done she began snipping the buds and leaves she would need for the morning. Blue darted from plant to plant as she worked, chirping whenever she missed a bloom. Once she had her plants trimmed, she went into the little workroom in the far corner of her garden which was hidden (for atmospheric purposes) behind a massive clutch of tea rose plants. Once there, she hung each of her collected samples to dry and bottled some of the finished pieces to take into the teahouse to blend – after she removed her pastries from the oven, of course. Every morning when her sweets came out unscathed El felt grateful for her magic. She would never be able to work so quickly or efficiently without it, and certainly would never be able to leave her oven unwatched to do any other work – it would take so long to work in her garden that the sweets would burn! Of course, she could always seek out somepony to work for her, but she simply couldn’t conceive of such a thing. El was terribly particular and would never be able to share her work because of it! When her morning routine was complete, she lifted all of the chairs off of the tables to set on the floor (or ground, in regards to her garden area) and opened the doors of her teahouse. It was still a bit early, so she wasn’t really expecting to see many faces, but that was fine. She began to steep a post of jasmine tea for herself nibbled on a croissant dusted with elderflower sugar. “Well, Blue,” she said brightly, smiling up at the little bird preening himself on the open door to her teahouse, “The sun is shining, the air is fresh, and I woke up early! It looks like today will be a lovely day.”
20. The ballroom was abuzz with activity. With hors d’oeuvres and drink in hoof, ponies made their way to their tables, eagerly chatting about the upcoming events on the program. A roast? The voices asked. A comedy show? At the Army Ball? Weren’t the guardsponies merely humorless accessories to the crown? As if to answer their collective questions, a drumroll started up. Colonel Ironwing stepped onto the stage to the fanfare of trumpets, lifting his beret in greeting to the gathered crowd as he approached the microphone. Grabbing the implement in his hooves, he began to speak. “Fillies and gentlecolts of the Royal Equestrian Army! Friends, family, and avid supporters! I welcome you all to the First Annual Army Ball! We gather here today to honor those who serve, who have served, and who will serve. The Army life isn’t an easy one, but it’s one that every guardspony relishes.” The retired colonel took a moment to adjust his glasses before continuing. “I myself was a wide-eyed cadet once, making my way through OCS, picking up a degree somewhere in there, and eventually landing a commission in the service of Her Majesty. Although I suppose now it would be Her MajestIES.” A smattering of chuckles rose from the audience as the colonel went on. “I’m seeing a lot of new faces here tonight. Either the optometrist messed up my prescription again or I’m going as senile as my son says I am!” “But enough about me!” he said with a flourish. “No matter how old we get or how many guard rotations we get stuck in, I always knew the REA boys and girls to be able to throw a great party. And what a party this is! What better way is there to celebrate those who work so tirelessly for us, especially the one in charge of our own Canterlot garrison?” “You might know him as the face of the REA, the Shield, or Captain Equestria, depending on who you talk to, but there’s no question about his dedication to service and good leadership. Fillies and gentlecolts, tonight we honor a soldier, officer, gentlecolt, scholar, and model Equestrian, our very own SHINING ARMOR!” The spotlight was nothing new to Shining Armor. After the high profile wedding and the craziness of the Crystal Empire, he was something of a local celebrity. Fame wasn’t his favorite part of the job, but he could certainly handle it so long as he had Cadence by his side. When the retired colonel had approached him about the roast, he was enthusiastic. After all, who wouldn’t want to get in on some good fun and comedy? The captain stood from his guest table and took a bow for his audience before quietly sitting back down. “So now let’s bring up the first of many roasters to pat you on the back... or kick you in the flank if they so choose! Our first roaster tonight is here with her charm, her wit, and her husband’s reins in hoof, Princess Mi Amore Cadenza!”

Don't worry, Trixie will help you out for the low price of five bits! ... What's that? Lemonade? I'm sorry, Trixie can't hear you over the sound of raining bits. Nice little distraction while studying, back to the grind as they say.

22. Spell Bound has launched! Check out the RP going on right now! Just because the adventure has stated doesn't mean your to late! Just drop your OC's name here and once they're added to the list of guild members in the Future Updates section of this post at the bottom, you can hop right in! Hello RP Area! (Its my first time here so I'll get straight to the point. I suck at RPing... Wait, that's not the point. The point is I've decided to establish a magical guild in the city of Canterlot! Note: I'm pretty sure I'm doing it wrong correct me if I am. -3-) Get ready for story time!) For most unicorns magic is merely a tool. A mundane part of everyday life. For some, however, magic is an art, and they've devoted their lives to it's practice. One such unicorn wishes to establish a magical guild in Canterlot, to apply his skills in search of fame and fortune. But of course, what's a guild with only one unicorn? That's where you come in! So, how's it work? (Thanks to Phil for answering my very noobish questions!) What we'll/you'll have to do is create a character or use an already existing one (although preference would be a new character solely dedicated to the guild) and actually form the group in an RP thread. After this initial thread, the group can be considered formed for continuity's sake and you can reference it elsewhere if you so please. Which means more adventures! So what's a Magical Guild you ask? An association of unicorns who practice magic, and learn from each other. Within the guild there is a central help-wanted board which has various help request of varying degrees of difficulty from pony's across Equestria in exchange for Bits. (Such as helping finding random objects or even helping with larger tasks like a wild manticore terrorizing a town for example.) With larger task, members of the guild will sometimes form teams to better deal with the situation, depending on their strength and overall characteristics. Who can join? While only unicorns can use magic, I don't want to exclude anypony from joining. I know they're are Earth and Pegasi ponies out there that really like magic and would be a great addition to the guild despite not being able to perform magic or help out magically speaking. This is Mane RP only, please no Crossover characters or otherwise. It may be important for your character to be able to be away from their day job for long amounts of time. So if you work for somepony else/are a teacher/etc. then you should find a way to work that out. After the initial RP? As stated before, once the guild is established, for continuity's sake it can be referenced in other RP's and what not. Which means your character that's within the guild can do whatever they please relating to the guild. You can even recruit members to join the guild. Recruiting is easy, all you need is the consent of one guild member. Future Updates/Guild Details (Update 7) (All this info will be RP'd, I'm just putting it here for convenience sake) Spell Bound has launched! But you can still sign up here and join in on the fun! Guild Name: Spell Bound Guild Master: Guild Adviser: Guild Members: Ingrid Marie, Gear Shift, Pocket Change, Razor Gearshttp, Silver "Trekker" Spark, Abbot Alembic, Licorice Black, Percival, Clockwise, Moondancer, Nivial, Gray Lexis, Spirit Flame, Midnight Blackhorn, Miss Understudy, Midnight Star Guild Location: Canterlot Guild Insignia: So I think this is the part where I open up for discussion on how the RP should go. LM Pro-tip for those who don't already know. I've never started an RP nor have I RP'd for long so bear with me. I'd love your ideas on how it should go as well as see who you'd be RPing as.
23. Acrylic Paint paced back and forth on the streets of Canterlot, he did something he never believed he could and that thing was, getting lost in the very city that he grew up in. “I can’t believe I’m lost!” he exclaimed and then lowered down shivering and breathing heavily almost hyperventilating. “N-Now is not the time to panic Acrylic…” he mumbled to himself but then jumped when he heard some crashes and bangs. He lowered down further and tucked his tail in-between his legs. “I can’t help but panic, I have no idea where in Canterlot I am!” Acrylic exclaimed looking around, but it was hard to tell because it was the dead of night and the soft light from the moon didn’t really help him see everything around him clearly. “I just need to find some pony to help me and give me directions and then I can go home and this will be all just very bad memory-.” He said to himself before he heard another crash and the sound of cats fighting, which startled him and caused him to scream like a young filly and gallop off.
24. Hello everyone! As many of you might be aware, its the time of year where many people are busy with work, school, and other activities. The same is true for the members of our humble little podcast. I'm currently in university, for instance. As such, I've been unable to record as often as I used to or visit the forum as often for that matter. The other hosts are also having the same difficulties. So for now I am putting the Canterlot Voice on hiatus until further notice. However, we don't want this little thing we started to die off so quickly. If you guys are willing to pick up where we left off, we are willing to pass the podcast on to a new group of hosts and editors. If you are interested you can contact me via Skype. 25. The lightbulb lighting a sign stating that the Itailian restaurant is open flickers through the polished window. Ponies sit at tables, laughing and talking as they eat breads, pastas, and soups. Even while standing outside, the very dim sound of chatter can be heard. Beyond the oak doors, the walls have a wallpaper with a leafy pattern on them-- a light green against an even lighter one. The floor is boarded with a dark wood that squeaks in a few places. Lamps hang from the ceiling, adding a cheery glow to the room, but candles are available for those who are feeling like romance. Jars of herbs recognizable as oregano, rosemary, and line the counter, behind which a few pots can be seen bubbling and steaming as chefs tend to them. A green unicorn who appears to be between the ages of filly and mare pulls a golden-brown foccacia out of an oven. She glances towards the door to see if any ponies are entering, but they aren't. There are many empty tables, and the scents of basil and tomato emanating from the restaurant smells enticing. Maybe it would be a good idea to go there sometime... OOC: If you would like to join, just have your character enter the restaurant.
