1. So, I've been trying to plot some ideas, and I came up with something that I thought might be a neat idea. Basically the Dance Academy of Canterlot (not sure if there is a dance school already established in the Mane RP, so I just came up with one myself) would host a sort of community dance competition. Think talent show, but focused primarily on dancing. Anypony of any age or skill level would be allowed and it would be divided into three ranks: Novice, Journeymen and Master (this is subject to change however, as I do not know how many will participate). The purpose of this competition is to spread the joy of dance, provide a show and entertainment for the masses, and of course, to have fun. Now, of course any competition will need competitors. As mentioned before, anypony is welcome to participate. Aside from the participants, we will also need judges. I was planning on just having three. Judges on the other hand will have to at least be a Mare or Stallion, and have some expertise in dance or performing. And of course, during the course of the competition, anypony is welcome to just be apart of the audience. I'm welcome to any feedback and suggestions. If anypony is interested at all in signing up for this competition, please say so, and include which pony(s) you wish to have participate. P.S. I know I say "anypony," but I don't see anything wrong with allowing other creatures from the Mane RP into the competition. That is all. As for me, I was going to have my OC Starlight Dancer be a competitor in the Masters division. However, if there is an empty judges seat available that needs filling, then I'll have her take on that role.
2. Hello citizens of Canterlot! As I'm sure you all know, Christmas is just around the corner and you know what that means? Lots and lots of holiday cheer! But what's Christmas without one of the most important parts, a little artistic gift giving! Good ol' Santa Hooves has just informed me that he's getting into the artistic spirit and drawing all the good little fillies and colts something special this Christmas, and I'm going tell you how you can get in on this season of giving! To be eligible for a gift from Santa all you have to do is drop a few lines about what you want. Be sure to include as much detail as possible about your requested piece! Your request MUST be Christmas themed in some way. 3. It is said, among a certain family, that when the moon shines brightly in the week before winter begins, that a the oldest filly will gain her cutie mark. This family, has passed this tale down through many generations, and still it has never come true. While everyone in this family believes it to be true, it has never come to pass... Untill now. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Embermane didn't know how long she'd been wandering. It was night, and she was quite hungry. She stopped in the forest she was traveling through, to chew on some odd looking flowers by the roadside. They were chewy and tasted like fresh lemons. She swallowed and teared again, as she'd been crying for a few hours now. She began walking again as the light started spanning over the horizon. She looked through the forest and smiled. The end of the forest was near, She had not noticed in the dark. Embermane bounded forward through the trees and saw she was actually on a small cliff in the forest, the trees spanned out for a little way more, before she could see in the distance, a town, in it's middle what looked like a large tree. The timid little filly with the blank flank, didn't know what the town was, but she knew that it ment safety, and this forest was anything but safe. She took off in a trot toward the edge of the forest. Embermane didn't really know where she was going at first, until she found a small path in the forest, She came to a tree that was carved out in the shape of a house near mid-day, but she was afraid of the things she saw there and ran the other way. Embermane walked until her hooves were sore and her eyes dry, She'd cried a bit more. She layed down in the shade of a very large tree, lost again. Not knowing she was only a little way from the edge of the forest. She lay there for a little while dozing in the fading light of the sun, When there was a noise. A rustling of leaves. She turned to look, and paled. It was a ferocious looking Manticore. Embermane screamed shrilly and bolted from where she was, the manticore close on her heels. She Ran faster then she'd ever imagined she could, and soon broke through the trees onto the plains closest to ponyville. Ember chanced a glance behind her and still the terrible beast followed. She screamed again, and kept running. Right into Ponyville.
4. A year and 19 days ago, I never thought I'd be doing something like this, but, here goes nothing... Post number 2000! Now I know what you may be thinking, and no, this thread isn't dedicated to my 2000th post, that would be both silly and self-centered of me considering people would see it as nothing all that special. However, I do consider it a big milestone for myself, it took me long enough and through more drama than I'd be willing to admit but I'm now at a Wonderbolt's level, which just puts a big old smile on my face But now that that's out of the way, I'll give the reason I made this thread in the first place. Canterlot is a magnificent place, it really is. I know my opinion isn't the most credible given this is my first forum but I'm sure most of you reading this can agree that this site is more than worth your time and your membership. I have way too many thanks I can give to this place that I can even remember them in one sitting, so I figured, hey, I'm sure other people have nice things to say about Canterlot...why not give them a place to do it. So, bronies and or pegasisters alike, I give you all for your posting: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL CANTERLOT 'THANK YOU' THREAD! Rolls right off the tongue, I know More to the point and past all the bright colours and large text, this thread is being made for the express purpose of thanking Canterlot and all the people in it. Somebody did a request for you and you wanna make your gratitude known and give them a nice little shout-out? Post here. Somebody on Canterlot brighten up your day a lot and you want them to be known as a truly awesome person? Post here. Or just anything you're thankful for here on Canterlot, go nuts! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'll start off with my thanks to get it out of the way. I have no one individual person I can thank for my enjoyment on Canterlot, that just wouldn't be fair. Canterlot and it's 4000+ beautiful people have made this place memorable and enjoyable simply by being here. Way back when I first came on here I had 1)No knowledge of how the internet worked 2)No sense whatsoever (Still not sure on that last one though ) and Canterlot was a wonderful place for me to amend those issues, all the people I met (With some exceptions, you know who you are ) helped me along that road, and I don't regret any of it, even for a second. For a more specific list of thanks though I'll give some names of some users so you can admire their awesomeness. Tenkan. IRockZ28. Angie Cakes. Appoline Allura. Applicance. Armony. Ashton SSG. Asthmatic Pegasus. GingerMint. Haserman. BrainedBySaucepans. Brony-Vas-Normandy. Browneh. CrescentBlaze. CrimsonNova. CrossStitch. Deathsongx3. Dusty. The entire LPW crew from way back in the day, including: Fawkes, Davroth, Imagination, Crystalheart, Microchip, NastyMann, NoedigJk471, Penumbra, Tywin, SilverSwirl and of course, Sulvuss. Neoniie. Broniesforlife. LordBrony9. Gerrard. ThunderFlash. Philthetimewizard. The-Jaded-Bug. Greed. daftBLUE. Frenzyhero. Hobbes574. Kunio18. And how could I forget, SkyMunki. Over the past year these people have been the most friendly, awesome and creative individuals I've ever met, no joke. Some I've fallen out of contact with but I wish them every good fortune in the future. My thanks go out to all of Canterlot's amazing staff who help make the site what it is and one big old hug goes out to our two awesome admins, Artax and Mane. Seriously guys, you rock, big time. And I suppose that's about it really, I'm all thanked out Thanks for your time, Canterlot. Feel free to post or not to post a reply stating your thanks. And as always, this is Conor Colton, signing off, see y'all around the forums, and have a good pony day
5. It was yet another fine day in the city of Canterlot. The birds were chirping, the sun was shining, and the streets were bustling with life as ponies went about their daily business. ~How dull~ High above them all a griffon flew lazily between the towering spires of the city, his wings flapping only from time to time as he used thermals and other rising air currents to keep himself aloft. Calmly Gaston peered at the masses below him seeming like some sort of bird of prey ready to pounce upon an unsuspecting citizen. IN reality however the griffons mind was elsewhere, its nerves working overtime as its owner tried to think about events that had recently transpired at his home. ~That foolish child! Who is she to intrude upon what is so obviously mine!~ Gaston thought in irritation not considering that the 'child' in question was the same age as him. Ever since his sister had moved in with Gaston and his father things had gone steadily downhill for the griffon. Where the position of ambassador to Equestria had once been a guaranteed thing now his father was beginning to doubt in his sons abilities to succeed him. ~And all because that bird brained sister of mine had the guts to help him out! The nerve!~ Gaston growled. He had reviewed his fathers proposals earlier and they had seemed perfectly fine. The demands upon equestria had been clear and blunt, in other words the norm for what the griffon kingdoms demanded in their trade agreements with Equestria. ~The griffon way! Only cowards hide behind fancy words and sentences... Pah! Equestria must fear us! How could they do that if we try to use trickery and... And.... stuff~ pouting the griffon began to descend lower down where the air traffic was a little busier with pegasi coming and going as they delivered messages or other business. ~Ill show them... But how...~ As his mind worked overtime trying to figure this out the griffon landed suddenly in front of the Aquellian embassy, scattering a small group of ponies who had been shocked by his appearance. Gaston payed them no heed though. For now all he cared about was finding something to do that would upstage his sister. His father was out of Canterlot for the time being meaning his office was empty... Surely there was something in there he could help make better! With this new goal set the griffon charged forward, only to run smack dab into something and fall to the ground. "Who dares!?!"
6. The bass heavy music was blaring as electric lights flashed wildly through the air, to-nights DJ, the owner of the club, was an electric blue unicorn with a frayed, burned red mane that stood behind the turntables, nodding his head to the beat. stopping a bit to look at the room, he smiled to himself, "my, an empty club, I should have known to send out those invites" he mumbled before switching tracks. "Oh well, I'll just amp up the volume, someone is bound to hear it!" the speakers were encased in the same light blue aura as his horns and pretty soon the whole building was vibrating
7. Tip Tap Tip Tap went the long red cane held in the mare’s right hoof. It swung side to side in front of her as she walked down the street. Reina was thinking like usual, of who might show up at her recording studio. She knew that there was somepony that needed to do one last take, and had even paid her an extra hundred bits to do it. She took a right on the eighty third step down the street, onto the next one. She also knew that the music from old disks was going to be needed to be repressed, and that meant some of the smarter musicians would try to record pretty soon. Luckily she had gotten a new delivery of master disks last week. Maybe Lon will show up. Maybe he will take me away from the confines of this city and we could finally- Her thoughts were interrupted by a blunt pain in the front of her head. She had forgotten about the sign that had hung from there since a couple of weeks ago. Rubbing her head with her hoof, she mumbled something to herself about how Canterlot needed regulations for disabled ponies. She heard a plop of something drop into the water, but thought nothing of it as she tried to ease the pain. Then it settled in her right hoof was the one rubbing her head. The one she held the cane in. She opened her grey eyes in shock. She could not, repeating to herself, NOT lose the cane. She recently replaced the gem to keep it swaying, and getting another one was not something she could afford. There was a brief moment of panic where she didn’t act rationally, and she galloped towards the place she thought she had heard the plop. But of course, without her cane, she ran into something. Rather, somepony. She heard an “Mph” from somepony as she collided with them, and fell onto her side. She shook herself and said a general “Sorry!” to the air, so that the pony she had just barreled into could hear it. Life was so hard being blind.
8. Definitely no bad luck in this episode. But that's strange, since it's episode 13, and we did record it on October 13th. Nonetheless, we are safe, because we've got this lucky pony joining us in today's show! Click the logo to get the full picture of what's going down.
9. Punda walked along the streets of Canterlot somewhat nervously. Ponies gawked and stared at his stripes only to compose themselves and walk away as though he were never there. He doubted all ponies acted like this, he hoped meet somepony who would tell him where he could find the weather station so he could find some pegasi who could help with the drought in his homeland. He could make some friends along the way, it wouldn't hurt. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- You're one of the first ponies to actually greet Punda, a foreign Zebra visiting Canterlot. Will you befriend him?
10. The adrenalin was surging as Streak pumped his wings as hard as he could, he was neck-and-neck with Fleetfoot, as he crossed the finish-line a camera went off... did he lose again? "...And the winner by a nose... LIGHTNING STREAK!..." The crowds cheered as Streak grinned, looking around, bowing, raising his hooves as the applause, watching as roses, gemstones, and other things were thrown into the track and the shocked look on all his opponents faces as he received the trophy.... ....one day.... Leaves blew past the wonderbolt as he stood on the circuit, daydreaming... yes, one day he would win that race, and that's exactly how it was going to be... one day...
11. Big, loud, crowded... Those three words pretty much summed up Snowdrifts first thoughts as he wandered the streets of Canterlot. He had gone ahead and separated himself from Pinoak and Symphony to explore. Upon first seeing the city from afar the caribou had been astounded. The concept of buildings was not something completely foreign to him but to see so many buildings, tall ones built on the side of a mountain, was simply breathtaking. How did it all work? Was it magic that made this possible? Or did some intelligent mind design these structures. In the end Snowdrift knew that any answers he got in regards to Canterlot would only create more questions. Not that it would stop him... Upin entering the city Snowdrift was stuck by just how... Organized everything was. The straight roads, planned buildings, and that everything was clean... All in all it was rather unnerving. Snowdrift was used to the wild chaos created by nature, Canterlot appeared to be completely tame. "Since when did they allow beasts in here?" Snowdrifts ears swiveled to the source of the sound but he made no move to look at the unicorns that had spoken. This was another thing that disturbed him about Canterlot, many of the ponies here seemed to hold themselves as superior to others, why though... Snowdrift could not tell. Perhaps it was money? Or some unknown social class structure he was not aware of. In his time with Pinoak and Symphony the caribou had come to believe all ponies were equal despite their physical difference and lived in harmony. But hearing the citizens of this city made Snowdrift wonder if that was true. It sounded as if these unicorns wished to rule over all. Perhaps they already did and the two unicorns Snowdrift had traveled with either lied or were simply misled. It wasnt just unicorns though, he had seen many earth and pegasi ponies who seemed to bear the same air of confidence and disdain for others. As he thought upon this Snowdrift paused to look around realizing he was completely lost, and alone. Looking back he could not discern where he had arrived from, his natural ability to navigate confounded by the order that made up Canterlot. Sighing in annoyance the caribou decided to do his best to backtrack and, if possible, find someone to help him.
12. About Myself: If you ask any of my good friends, I'm sort of a jack of all trades. I'm a musician, writer, actor, artist, vocalist, athlete, you name it. And of course naturally I'm west coast How I found Canterlot.com: I bumbled upon it in my Internet adventuring How I became a fan of MLP:FiM: Well this is an interesting story, I first heard about bronies about six months ago. At first I thought, "wow, these people are mad!" but after researching the psychology behind it, the fandom, and of course the show I became a brony myself My favourite main cast pony/s: AppleJack,Fluttershy,Miss Rarity,Rainbow Dash,Twilight Sparkle,Pinkamina Diane Pie Hey everypony! I saw this site bumbling around on the net and thought it looks pretty cool...so naturally here I am!
13. (alright! first RP i've made in a while. lets get this started!) The Night was young as Bass Rider was setting up his new equipment for tonight's party. The bass was booming, the lights where flashing, and the fog was rolling "All right..." He looked out at the guards, "Alright! you can let people in!" He kicked off the first track of the night with a slow .
14. "...and then the handsome Prince flew up the side of the tower, and rescued the princess, and they lived happily ever after" said the pegasus as he carefully closed the book There was a variety of sounds from around the room as the various foals clapped, cheered, or banged on hoof on their beds if another one was in a cast, a few who were unable to even do that smiled broadly Lightning Streak mirrored that smile, he loved watching the foals face's light up when he read them a story, it was always a rewarding experience, possibly even more rewarding than flying in the wonder bolts themselves was.
15. The sun was starting to breach the horizon on a frigid winter morning in Canterlot, attempting to bring some much needed heat to the capitol. The ground was still plastered with a thick layer of snow as it tried to ward away the weather sensitive residents of the famous town. The sleepy town had few active inhabitants who were brave enough to face the elements, one shady looking individual apparently leaving Canterlot castle through one of it's many unguarded sewer entrances. A male griffon with silver head plumeage nonchalantly walked out of the well maintained water movement centers. He proudly carried a coat of darkest black that seemed to extend beyond his neck as it enveloped the remainder of his body. A bright gleam was clearly visible in his ebon talons, the hybrid seeming to carry an object of extreme value that was obtained by methods unknown. The light crunching of snow filled the air as his dark paws left their distinct mark on the ground, a defiant reminder of his heritage in the pony centric nation of Equestria. His dark beak carried a smug grin as he twirled a large shiny object in his deft talons before slipping it into a nondescript bag that was tightly fastened around his neck. The hybrid lazily scanned the area ahead of him with his keen eagle eyes, apparently not worried at all by any of his dealings. "When you're good, it just comes naturally. It's like they just want me to take their bits, and I just happily agree to do so. What can I say, I make things work," the dark griffon gloated aloud in almost arrogant manner, his precise motives and interests unknown. The griffon dug his powerful talons into the frigid snow, enjoying the weather as he pondered his next action.
16. “Ugh, I poured my life’s work and three months of financing into this place, I would have hoped for some new business by now…” A brown mare commented while wiping a wooden bar table off, which she often did when she was out of things to keep her busy. It wasn’t so much for the money though, as one might have expected from her. This mare named Masala Chai was simply tired of the routine. First thing in the morning, the same three ponies ordered their teas and left without a word. Boooriiing. Then in the afternoon, Apis paid a visit, followed by a mess to clean up, which she silently decided was his job next time it happened, not hers. He wasn’t unpleasant company, not at all. However, it seemed as though he was content to reserve his klutzy moments for when he was among friends, and with her being the only one in his immediate area, that was a bit of an annoyance. Then, late night, a cup of hot cocoa for a chocoholic artist that happened to wander into her store after getting lost a few weeks ago. They came every day, but new ponies added new possibilities, new brewings, new conversation, and yet another chance at finding what she was really after. The grating routine made her begin to lose hope, and become rather tired of work, even after only five months. Maybe it was the location? Did the building materials look ugly compared to its surroundings? Not ‘fancy’ enough? Whatever the case, it wasn’t getting her much business, but the ponies that did give the place a shot loved it, which meant it must not be getting enough attention. So, Masala, being a busybody when it comes to attention, especially when deprived of any busywork outside of scrubbing the bar table, made signs advertising her shop and eagerly placed them all about the Heights last night. She hadn’t slept since then, but was just as sane as she usually was; it took more than just a day’s lack of sleep to get her on the crazy side. She assumed that it was just getting to be morning, since the outside streets looked a bit brighter than they were a few hours ago. She put the washrag on the table, and moved over to the window to see how things were going. Her café was natural and fairly homely, being made of dark wood and fresh logs, almost like a cabin of sorts. It had a porch out in the front with two tables, sheltered by a slanting roof. The inside wasn’t much different: light wood bar table (her greatest foe) with matching barstools, six tables to the left, were you to walk in the door, with a few bookshelves filled with light reads, from commonplace to oddities in the world of novels. On one table, a chess set stood, with the pieces in their proper place. Apis would play the game with himself from time to time; whatever amused him was fine with her, she didn’t judge. The lighting was basic, firefly lamps hung above the bar table did the trick, day or night. While Masala was well used to it, the humid air, filled with the smell of herbs and spices, would have hit anypony coming in for the first time. To the right was a door leading to a singular bathroom, just for the sake of being thorough. On the inside face of the bar table, cabinets stored cups and plates of all kinds and sizes, the plates being for some small treats she sold, on a shining silver display platter on the rightmost edge of the bar table. There was a back room as well, where Masala grew the plants she used from scratch, and brewed them into teas of many a kind. It was an expensive trade, especially how she did it, but it was worth it to her. She noted that the lamps outside began to dim, meaning that it was almost morning, which also meant that she could expect those three ponies in a few hours. But she kept her hopes up, thinking that somepony must have noticed the signs she posted. Masala trotted back over to the bar table, removed the washrag and put it in a sink behind the table, and waited for her first customers, or anypony that may happen to show up before them.
17. :OOC I shall be out of action until April 22. Thanks Jim
18. "Well..." Flickerlight rummaged around in her saddlebag, and brought out a dark green candle. "I was working on this one last night. 'Tis pine-scented, nothing special."
19. "I was at the Pooflehoofs' cocktail party, one of the many social engagements I simply must attend when I noticed a group who were observing something over in the corner. I went to investigate, and was almost stabbed by a unicorn filly who was charging about in the most undignified manner." Undignified indeed. Celestia had heard the name Lanceguard before, one of the champions in the local competitive jousting community, though her sort of joust was more oriented toward formal sport than historical reenactment. Still, the fact that Blueblood had begun with a disparaging remark of another was telling enough. This was going to be good. "...Nevertheless, I requested politely that she restrict her antics to the jousting field, if she had to do it at all." Politely. Of course. The last time that Blueblood had attempted to be polite, he had ended up with cake on his face in addition to the hooves of a very angry lady unicorn. As Blueblood continued, Celestia nodded at the keywords. Entirely reasonable. Demanded. Demeaning. All part of the vernacular of high society to be sure, but all codewords for “I made a faux pas but would rather push my blame upon another.” The Princess nodded sagely as Blueblood finished his tale of woe. Celestia took a dainty sip from her teacup before gently setting it upon the conference table and thoughtfully putting a hoof to her chin. Despite his best efforts, Blueblood had telegraphed very clearly the fact that he wanted out of this comedy of errors via her intervention. Of course, the Princess would have none of this. It was a fact of life that a pony must be held accountable for his or her actions. Blueblood was not exempt from this. Of course, the question remained. How would she best educate him in this fact of life? It would teach him nothing if she merely forbade the contest. It would also teach him nothing if the contest were resolved quietly and in private. Furthermore, it would be entirely rude and un-princess-like if she were to dismiss him without another word, though she very well could have done so. Oh what a dilemma! But what was this? A little idea crept its way into Celestia’s mind, sparking all sorts of plots, plans, and pranks, titillating that little mischievous bit she had never fully shed from her youth. The Princess had a plan... the perfect plan. Lanceguard’s jousting tour had been struggling with both poor advertising and lack of general interest in the sport. As it turned out, a local foals’ hospital had also been struggling with a recent dearth of donations, a matter which had been presented to her just a few hours ago in that same conference room. This would work beautifully. A joust for charity! The honorable Blueblood against the grizzled veteran Lanceguard! The fight of the decade! The local promoters would be all over this! And the best part? It was all for a good cause, a cause that even Blueblood couldn’t worm his way out of. Regardless of the outcome, everypony would be a winner... except perhaps the Duke himself. “I completely understand,” Celestia smiled, the mischievous lilt remaining in her voice. “Don’t worry one bit, my dear Blueblood! I will personally ensure that this matter is resolved. In fact, I will have the adjutant file a formal request for Lanceguard’s presence now.” The princess picked up an idle quill from its inkwell and proceeded to scribble down instructions on a bit of palace stationery. Borne on the aether, the page folded itself neatly and vanished in a puff of green flame, bound for the adjutant’s desk out front. “In the meantime,” the Princess said, replacing the quill in its inkwell, “Do continue your training. I think it suits you quite well. Besides, it would be quite rude to so abruptly terminate your lessons considering you have already committed both your trainer’s time and your own.” (( A fundraiser for the foals’ hospital? Check. A promotional event for competition jousting? Check. A clueless Blueblood? Check. Mix ingredients. Bake in coliseum for a day. Profit.))
20. ”You think I know?” she hissed in Granola's ear. She couldn't deny that she was nervous, and she had been relying on Granola and Sherlock—mostly Granola, who she had known for longer—to guide her. She could shadow and copy along well enough... but improvising on things she had no idea of was probably not the best idea, nor was it one she favored. “I didn't expect so... many.” Luna flashed an awkward smile at those they passed, continuing to lean down and speak quietly to Granola. “And I thought you knew what a “Night Club” was all about. You so readily agreed to it I assumed you'd been to it before. She sighed quietly, standing upright so as to keep up appearances. She may not have known what this place was actually for, but she could always wing it. “I—well what would that matter, you're the same color as the owner.” Luna pointed out what should have been an obvious flaw in Granola's seemingly ridiculous question. Besides that, ponies in Equestria could be found in just about any color... and anyway, from what she could see, there was no discrimination here, at least based on coat color. “Just settle down.” Luna place a wing over Granola's back reassuringly, turning to smile down at her. “You're with a princess, for goodness sake.” she paused. “And besides that... didn't the owner of the establishment invite both of us?” At least she was too preoccupied now with Granola to worry about what anypony else thought, or what she planned to do next. For now, she'd rely on Sherlock to show her the ropes, for as long as he would.

22. Hi guys, I'm in the middle of writing a MLP fanfiction called "False Harmony", about a Royal Guard who learns the truth about the Solar Empire's history. Here's a preview of it: I woke up with a throbbing headache and immediately began trying to remember what happened. I remembered getting on our chariot for an important mission. I remembered flipping through the pages of my dossier and I remembered shortly after that, seeing a bright flash and a very loud noise. That was I could remember. I opened my eyes to see myself in a large black room. There was a changeling sitting in an office chair looking at a folder. “War criminal? Terrorist?” he chuckled and walked over to me, as I still lied on the floor. I sat up as he got closer. “Celestia's propaganda at it's worst.” The changeling continued walking closer. “My name's Dr. Silurian, I don't believe we've met.” The Doctor reached out his hoof for a hoofshake. I just kept angrily staring. He lowered his hoof and began to speak again. “You're probably wondering why you're here, aren't you?” I stayed speechless. “Well the Changeling Reunification Front saw your chariot coming into our airspace and fired a couple of missiles at it. “Where THE is my squad?” I shouted. “I'm sorry to say it, but we didn't find anypony at the crash site except you. There was nothing else there except ashes and scraps of armor.” My heart sunk as I realized that I was the only pony who made it out of the crash alive. “The CRF doesn't mess around when it comes to Equestrian soldiers. Ever since the occupation happened they usually prefer to strike the enemy first if they can. “WHAT THE ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? WHERE AM I? I yelled. “You're in the CRF's main headquarters. When your chariot went down, a few rebels and I went to check out the crash site. We saw you there in a pile of ashes and in a puddle of your own blood. I knew that we would have to act quickly. We brought you back here with us, and some of our medics patched you up.” I was totally baffled by what he said. “This doesn't make any sense? Who would go out of their way to save an enemy soldier?” Dr. Siluran started to chuckle again “A good military force tries to save as many lives as possible” he said. “BUT YOU KILLED MY SQUAD YOU !” I yelled. “Yes, we did.” Replied the Doctor, “But what choice did we have? You and your squad were brainwashed from the time you were fillies. You were taught that Celestia's regime was one of harmony and peace. You were drafted into the Royal Guard, taught to carry a sword and die for your Princess before you were old enough to know what you were doing. “What the is your point here?” I asked, still noticeably enraged. The changeling spoke once more: “Everything you know is a lie” Thanks for reading. None of this is final, so I can always make changes. Especially spelling/grammar changes because I typed this at like 3AM. .
23. It had been a day like any other for cheery Canterlot University Student Dazzle Dawn. She had woken up early, visited her favorite coffee shop, had her favorite tasty sweet coffee drink, went to all her classes, eaten her lunch and then left for her stroll around town, looking for something fun to do. A small, privately owned used book store had caught her eye and she wandered in, looking for something exciting to read. As she started looking over the latest Daring Do book, wondering what it might be like to go on some exciting adventure, she spotted a book that was at once familiar. It was a dusty old book, several decades aged. The cover was green and the text was faded. It was a book on rare monsters. The book itself was very rare. It brought back memories. This book had been read to her as a foal by her dearest friend. "Arcana..." Dazzle whispered as she picked it up. Her mind flooded with thoughts of her dear friend. They had been so close as foals until Dazzle had moved away. She hadn't thought they'd ever see each other again, but when she enrolled at the university, she was shocked to find Arcana a fellow student. Though Arcana had become more jaded in sorrowful in the years they were apart, Dazzle had wormed her way slowly back into her friend's heart. After the first couple years at the university, they were as close as ever. Shortly after that, however, Arcana disappeared suddenly. She had left not the slightest notification of where she was going or why. She just vanished entirely, leaving only the memories behind. Dazzle lifted the book. She flipped through it carefully. Certain pages had scribbles on them. Scribbles she could remember making. Her eyes lit up. This wasn't just the same book Arcana had read to her. This was Arcana's copy! All at once her heart swelled with emotion. Drawing it in closer, she took it to the owner of the shop. "Excuse me, sir," she asked as sweetly as she could. "Can you tell me who you bought this from?" "Ah... that's a rare one. Worth quite the number of bits. Just bought it the other day," the stallion replied. "It was a pink unicorn mare in a hat and scarf. Rude and demanding thing. Sounded like she was up to no good." "She's my friend. I haven't seen her in a year!" Dazzle started. The description left no doubt in Dazzle's mind. "Can you please tell me if you know where she was going?" "She mentioned needing the money for a ticket north to Stalliongrad," the book store owner said. "She asked me if I had any books on the far north frontier beyond the city she could have cheap, so I assume she's headed up that way." Dazzle's eyes lit up. After all this time, she had a lead on Arcana's location. She needed to leave at once, while she still had a chance of catching up to her. She looked down at the book again. "So, how much is this book?" she asked. "It kind of has sentimental value to me..." "As I said, it's rare. Fifty bits and its yours," the store keeper said. Dazzle frowned. That was too much, especially if she was going to have to travel to the far North. She hung her head and sighed. "Umm... I'll come back for it then." "Fine with me. Hope it's still here for you," the stallion replied. "Thank you so much!" Dazzle replied as she put the book down and left. Dazzle returned home immediately after that, and packed some things. She hated having to miss school, but bringing Arcana back was far more important to her. After an hour or so, she was dressed in a winter coat and had full heavy saddle bags on her back, stuffed with everything she thought she'd need. It was only when she left her home again that she realized how scary the idea of going so far from home all alone on some big adventure would be. She wasn't some brave pony like Daring Do, she was just a humble magic student who save for a few excursions to the Whitetail Woods with Arcana as a foal, had never left the greater Canterlot area in her life. She had a little money on her. Maybe she could hire a guide to help her out? Where could she even find somepony like that? She didn't know any brave ponies who went on adventures. She didn't know where she could find one in Canterlot either. She really had no idea where to even begin. That's when a simple thought occurred to her. Usually when she didn't know something, she just asked somepony for help. Maybe that would work here? At the very least it was worth a try. Walking up to the first pony she saw, a black colored pegasus stallion, she offered a wide smile. She hoped she could count on this stranger's kindness to point her in the right direction. "Hello there! I was wondering if you might be able to help me find somepony," she said cheerfully as she approached him. "I'm trying to find a strong, brave pony who has experience going on adventures. Do you know where I could maybe find somepony like that?"
24. As Dusk Sky smiled at how kindly the waitress was taking the crowd, but was suddenly drawn away by the gray stallion that stood by. He too seemed to notice something before trotting of. Shaking herself away as well, she came over to Stormsong. "Really, I can help. Care for me to take some orders?" For some reason, the earth pony just really needed to solidify her suspicions about that pony...
25. Only moments after the jewelry shop was opened did the relatively new mare, Masala Chai, end up ringing the bell at the shop door upon her entrance. With her, besides her usual rose-colored cowl, was a saddle bag with a pair of very cute-looking mug pins to fasten the roomy pouches closed. She barely took a few steps, however, when she suddenly tripped on a clumsy shuffling front hoof. A few seconds on the ground, and she began spouting out what could only have been a few curses in a foreign language, given how angry they sounded, even when muffled by a floor. After the brief embarrassing display, worsened only by the knowledge that she was basically the new pony on the block, she stood back up, straight as a hair, and walked up to the counter. Taking a moment, she looked to the side, seeing only fine jewels and adornments of all types imaginable, even a few imported stones she recognized from her homeland. Looking over to the colt at the counter, who she could only assume was less than impressed at her recent behavior, she cleared her throat, and spoke. “Mi scusa, signore, ma ho bisogno di una sostituzione gio-- Oh wait, you probably don't speak Itailian,” Or at least so she assumed by the shopkeeper’s confused look. Of course, her using her native tongue was completely intentional. Such mastery over another language would clue into the fact that she is indeed much more cultured and refined than her brief lack of coordination no doubt displayed. These kind of ploys really helped with boosting respectfulness, as she remembered from the elite of Roam; out in the big city, you wouldn’t last a day without knowing how to do stuff like this. Reaching back into the left bag, Chai began again, “Ya’ see, it’s actually kind of annoying, but I have this broken necklace. I mean, it’s not broken, per se, it’s just, see, missing the jewel on the front there. This slot’s been empty for the last three generations, though we haven’t had any chances or means to fix it. Got any jewels that you could cut to this?” Masala pointed to a very elaborate pendant, made of gold and lapis lazuli, which made up the small beads around it. The dazzle of the stark gold and blue colors made the necklace stand out, and made the huge gap in the middle of the pendant, where the jewel would go, all that more obvious. “Something smooth, preferably. Oh, and blue. It used to be a deep blue Mar Stone in here. You know, those jewels that look kind of like pearls? The imported ones?”
