  1. Cadence shifted a little in her hoofguards, though her pleasant expression didn't fade. She and the other members of the Canterlot Royal Public Relations had been here all morning, but it was still fairly early and most ponies couldn't have been expected to be pounding on the doors, waiting for the event to start. After all, the CRPR wasn't very well understood or known to those outside the castle, which was the entire point of today anyway! Notices had been posted all about Canterlot, which hopefully helped to spread the word. They'd acquired one of the smaller ball rooms of the castle for the day-long open house, and several long tables adorned with snacks and punch had been set along the sides of the room. One or two nobles had stopped by, but they had both only wanted to have a quick word with one of their friends on the board, not information. The CRPR had been nothing new to them. Cadence herself was happy enough with her company at the moment, considering several of the ponies around her had traveled a good portion of Equestria with her while spreading the goodwill of the crown, but she dearly hoped that others would eventually trickle in with questions. Even if they only wanted to have some snacks, that would be fine with the princess! That just meant more new friends to make and talk with. With a tiny glimmer of magic Cadence levitated a small cup of punch before her and took a slow sip. Maybe if the music started it would drift out into Canterlot? It was worth a try, anyway. With a wave of a hoof and a nod, the alicorn let the string quartet hired to provide ambience launch into a quick tempo, high energy bolero. She knew quite a few of the stuffy older ponies in the organization might not dance, but it was hard for her not to shake a fank whenever upbeat music played. "It shouldn't be long now!" she called with a laugh.
  2. From the album: A Wild Album has appeared!

I've been watching a lot of soccer lately, so I decided to "ponify" the soccer club logo of Real Zaragoza, a Spanish soccer team in Spain. "Real" is a title that Spanish monarchs would give to soccer clubs that were outstanding in their terms.

© Real Zaragoza logo belongs to Real Zaragoza S.A.D., Celestia belongs to Hasbro, I just mashed them together

  3. “Move outta the way!” - a shout forced Ardent to look behind. It was yet another Royal patrol. He trotted aside obediently, observing them as they passed near him. He picked out their suspicious stares. Stallion wasn't surprised with this, as he knew he's standing out by a fair amount. He was wearing his ceremonial armor, covered in various decorative markings, with a dazzling sapphire implemented in the very front of it. His helmet also differed, as it covered most part of his face, unlike typical REA helmets. Moreover, as his mission was also representative, the tradition ordered him to bring his sword, which was crafted exclusively for his needs. Pegasus kept it tied on his back, just above the bags. As soon as the patrol passed by, Will continued his walk towards one of Canterlot REA barracks. The state of emergency has been declared in the city. It was now swarming with guards, determined to protect it to their last breaths. Pegasus couldn't help to notice that the grass all around him was simply trampled. “Seems that even nature couldn't stop the royal equestrian forces...” - he joked in his mind, trying to remain focused at his target. Ardent didn't know why he was the one chosen to attend the crisis meeting called in the city of Canterlot. It seemed that everypony with higher ranks were suddenly busy with things which weren't destined to his ears. But it lied not in his nature to question the orders, especially if they came from the high command itself. The task he was assigned seemed simple. Cooperate with REA in order to, eventually, eliminate any potential threats to the kingdom. He was supposed to keep in touch with rest of the brotherhood on daily basis. The only problem here was that... REA and Destriers didn't get along very well... He approached the building finally. The structure itself had only two floors and was purely white. He could see the castle of Canterlot in the far distance. Pegasus wondered how does it look inside as the end of his journey drew near. All of a sudden, a guard crossed his path. “Nopony is allowed into that building, citizen.” - Ardent frowned upon hearing a 'citizen' word directed at him. He didn't answer, instead he pulled out a letter. Its seal was already broken, as he had to show it upon entering Canterlot in the first place. The guard started reading: “~~~~ Anypony reading these words, know this, that the bearer of this letter is an ambassador of holy Destrier brotherhood. Amongst many, he has been chosen to be an emissary of justice. None shall stand in his path, as he must safely reach the city of Canterlot. Those, who should oppose his will until he reaches his destination, shall suffer severe consequences by the hooves of the chapter. Praised be Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. ~~~~” The letter finished with two, mysteriously looking seals imprinted in red wax. As guard finished, he threw the letter back at Ardent with disrespectful expression. “Nopony is allowed into the building.” - he repeated himself, throwing Will into momentary confusion. The words stabbed his mind like an imaginary dagger. “You dare to oppose the will of the chapter, and, ultimately, Princess herself?” - Ardent spoke calmly, picking his words carefully, hiding a threat in his voice. The letter didn't explain anything, naturally, but Destrier chapter, even though considered unfriendly, was known to REA in the end. “The letter speaks of reaching Canterlot. Congratulations, you've reached it. I feel free to 'stand in your path' now.” - Ardent stood staggered after those words. He had no idea how to convince a simple guard to his words. Duty is duty, one must obey orders and take things literally. He hoped that there's somepony inside who could hear that little conversation in front of the doors. Or, perhaps, not everypony arrived yet. After all, Ardent's attendance was announced and everypony at the meeting knew who they're going to interact with...
  4. A trip to the capital of Equestria itself, Canterlot. It seemed almost unbelievable for the colt, even though he was currently standing on the Canterlot platform of the Equestrian Railroad. He'd practically had to beg his parents to take him to the famed city, and only after extensive persuasion had they agreed to it. Since his move from Fillydelphia, the earth pony hadn't actually done much large-scale travelling. His family didn't really have the time and excess wealth to allow for travel whenever they wanted, but with his recent increase in effort with his schoolwork, they had decided that a break wouldn't be too much trouble. Neon had been ecstatic and nearly cantered onto the wrong train in his excitement. Luckily his parents had pulled him back before he'd been sent off to Ponyville, but it hadn't deterred his bouncy demeanour in the slightest. Very cautiously, his parents had cautioned him to be careful and not wander too far off. They had a quick stop to make before settling in at their hotel room for the day. Of course, with neon being as rambunctious as he was, staying put wasn't very likely. Eventually getting antsy enough, the colt scribbled down a note to his parents and taped it to a nearby lamppost. Satisfied that his parents would find it, the colt trotted off through the streets, eager to enjoy the sights of the city. If anypony were to be curious enough to read the note, they would find written, in fairly hasty script: Mom and Dad, Don't worry, I've just gone exploring. I'll meet you back at the hotel. If you're wondering, I went this way: ---> From, Neon
  5. Prince Blueblood was in his study leafing through his personal corespondance. His appointments secretary handled the invitations and social engagements, but there were still a few letters that couldn't be handled under existing orders, and they got passed up to the Prince. A lot got immediately filed in the nearest waste paper basket, but some were at least amusing. The one he now held in the grip of his horn was more mysterious. The return address was the Royal Exploration Society here in Canterlot, which was probably why it had gotten through to him, and a small golden stamp in one corner showed it had been passed by palace security for prank spells and effects. While he was the royal patron of the Society, he preferred to keep his involvemenrt, at least officially, at the tip of his horn. A letter opener was enfolded in his horn's glow and rose up to slit open the letter. Pulling out the standard sheet of Society headed notepaper, he perused the contents.
  6. [OOC: As Blitz requested, going through one more reply round without our Pegasus Soldier this time] [OOC2: Miracle. A short post from my side.] Unity noticed that Blitz hesitated. He wasn't sure why, but he knew that it would be most wise for her to fly and make sure that the unicorn won't hurt himself. "Well, in this case I'll help her in picking decision, perhaps." - he thought, as he turned back and headed towards the offices. "She'll for sure do the right thing eventually. And I believe Pegasus will be able to catch up to us if needed." He was already few steps ahead, when he realized it wasn't in his interest to enter Canterlot trading administration offices. He turned back, still trotting ahead, and said: "Nickel, my friend, you're coming? I feel we've wasted enough time already. I hope you still have that rare gem you've mentioned earlier. It'll be a good example of good you're trying to sell, I believe." - Unity pointed his sight on the roofs after saying those words. It seemed as Shadow and Ink we're having a conversation. He was pleased with that, actually. The further away from that unicorn, the better. Least, that's what he came up with after his last words directed at Unity. "Why is it that Blitz defended him?" - he wondered, staring blankly ahead. It was a thing he couldn't understand completely - "Perhaps it'll be best to ask her upon next meeting...". Unity turned back again - "Come on, Nickel! Let's get ourselves done with this already!" - Stallion tried lighting a fire under his colt companion.
  7. Breve grinned as he got the coffee brewing for the day, the air sweet with the scent of fresh beans being ground, and the perfect matching scent of Vanilla Cinnamon Sticky Buns fresh out of the oven, resting on the countertops to cool. Once he was content with the set up of his shop he flipped the closed sign to open , and threw the shutters open to let the teasing aroma's waif through the air to tantalize and tempt passing patrons. The soft apple green stallion checked himself in the mirror, moving a hoof up to smooth back his blonde mane to make sure it looked professional, blue eyes twinkling as he was always excited when he opened the shop up in the mornings, however today was the first time that he was selling the buns, usually he only sold various coffee drinks, but if his Pap could sell deep fried apple fritters with his coffee then dang it Breve could sell Vanilla Cinnamon Rolls! "Let's hope I get some customers" He said glancing to the sun as if he were talking to the Princess herself "Thank ya Celestia fer this fine day t'day"
  8. First off, I'm not a troll! I like to run, swim, and drill. Just wondering, any other ROTC bronies out there? Favorite things... favorite food is beans and rice. Favorite sport is drill. Favorite hobby is drawing, especially ponies. I like videogames and listening to music.
  9. Canterlot needs to add facebook to this site in the same way twitter is on this site. I dont have or want to deal with a twitter, but id love for canterlot to be on facebook. If you have any answers, or reasons why canterlot cant/shouldnt be on facebook, post them as comments below plz.
  10. Flux was fairly sheepish after realizing just how foolish her question must have sounded. As Spectral Desire had pointed out, it was quite clear that she would have suffered injuries from being affected by the spell in such a manner. It seemed that even her fallbacks of logic had managed to fail her in this situation It only reinforced her belief that their escape from the archives was top priority. If nothing else, she wasn't going to enjoy their forced stay much more if even her most basic tendancies were being thrwated by it. She mumbled something along the lines of an 'of course' and stepped back slightly as she moved forward to examine Seeker. Spectral Desire's answer did perplex her slightly, though she was glad to hear that the dark pink mare had not been seriously injured. The travels that she spoke of must certainly be dangerous ones, she thought, lagging behind the unicorn in order to determine Seeker's state as well. Curiousity had still not abandoned her, though unfortunately that was a character trait of hers that usually was more trouble than it was worth. When Seeker's eyes flickered open, Flux had reached his side as well and was quite pleased to see that the magical collision hadn't left long-lasting effects besides his brief loss of consciousness. Then, Pinstripe also was roused from her rest, drawing her attention momentarily. Assuming that the two unicorns would be mostly alright, even despite whatever physical injuries they may have sustained, Flux said, "I cannot say whether either of you are entirely 'fine', but Seeker's words do give us an interesting possibility." She trotted carefully over to the picture frame which Pinstripe had originally called her into this section of the archives for as she spoke. "It is quite possible, from what he has said, that this painting's disappearance and Seeker's odd magical state are connected somehow." The white unicorn titled her head minutely as she observed the frame, trying to notice anything peculiar about it and leaving the other three ponies to sort out what needed to be done about the possible repair of their injuries.
  11. The white unicorn was quite pleased that the earth pony had agreed to allow her to travel with the two to Lily's destination. In discovering the filly's profession, she had developed a very genuine interest in it. Though it was only a secondary pursuit, she found herself focusing more intently on it than her original purpose for accompanying the filly. Herbalism was a dying art, from what the scientific unicorn understood. Books on the subject were both uncommon and out-of-date, as it was not a subject often researched by those who found themselves in the position to write novels. As books were Flux's only consistent way of obtaining information on most subjects, the lack of them on this subject had left it a mystery to her since her discovery of it. So, in light of her newly discovery source of information, Flux quickly placed any thoughts of Lily's eyes on the metaphorical back-burner. She noticed Dagger's gaze lifting from her in favour of another pony, which she was grateful for, as the stallion was quite intimidating, but she found herself following his line of sight. Anything that the clearly military stallion thought worthy of observation would be something she would not do well to neglect study of as well. It was a black unicorn who watched their procession closely, scribbling down what were likely notes as he did. Flux found it odd that two ponies so far had taken interest in Lily Dawn, but she remained silent about it. Dagger and the unicorn could work that out for themselves. Instead, she focused her thoughts on herbalism once more, eager to compile as much foreknowledge as she possessed before asking Lily anything more than cursory questions on the subject.
  12. "Zephyr!" Mal bolted up from where she'd been watching the flight lesson, rushing to his side. She glared daggers at Steelwalt. "What the hay do you think you were doing? What kind of stupid trick was that, he could be seriously hurt!" She blinked back tears as she yelled at the old mare. She didn't actually get in the way, however. She recognized the smelling salts, and while she did have a first aid kit, there were no salts in it. She yanked out her own kit, just so it would be ready, but as she looked over him, she saw no obvious breaks. She didn't risk moving him yet, but she did pull out a bottle of iodine and a rag, floating it in to apply to the scrapes he'd picked up from the crash. "Zephyr!" She scolded his unconscious form. "You had better not die, or I swear to Celestia I will KILL you!"
  13. He was about to offer them to the others after Cross denied the offer, when suddenly Sparks came and ate it all. Shooting the bird an annoyed glare, he lowered hsi head as he apologized "Err, sorry I dont have any others on me right now. Im sure we could find something to help you all with your injuries". Looking downcasted, he remarked "I was asleep the whole time whilst everypony was fighting; and I apologize...I promise that Im not gonna be asleep; or slacking off on the job when the next attack comes". Seeing Midnights face, he asked "Whats up Midnight? You look like your really deep in thought". That woulda been an understatment for Val, since he himself had been thinking hard about the attack.
  14. [Posting Order: Frosty, Spice, Shadowstorm and Sturmmann] Moondusk Brush was resting in the train carriage as it puffed and chugged along the tracks from Ponyville to Canterlot, Princess Celestia handiwork was already at play as the sun started to rise over the mountain and shine down on Equestria in beautiful morning light. The train slow down to a halt as the Pony conductor yelled throughout the carriage, announcing that they have arrived at Canterlot Station. The Unicorn would stir from his slumber with a grumpy groan as he slipped off his seat and trotted slowly onto the station, taking a good look around with sleepy eyes.”Well... I'm finally here... Canterlot... Home of the royal sisters and city of the rich and gifted.”he would mumble to himself before he would walk down the station to the train station the to the loading dock to pick up his cart, moving into the morning streets of Canterlot. He had came to Canterlot for one thing, Inspiration. Inspiration for a painting that would be entered in an upcoming art contest and hopefully win but he knew that any little painting wouldn't do, that he need something that special, magical, something that would make ponies awe at the sight of it. Moondusk was trotting along slowly, as he took in the sights all around him, simple amazed by every little detail the building have in them under the beauty of a summer day. He had always wanted to visit Canterlot ever since he was a little colt, dreaming of being in a royal art show with his painting on full display for all ponies to see. Moondusk mind seem to wander away from reality before he snapped back, realising he was lost now in a busy street. “Okay.. now I'm lost...”The blue unicorn mumbled to himself as he looked around, trying to remember which way he came from.
  15. The crowds were cheering as the team landed for the final time, Roses were being tossed into the stadium as the 'bolts took their bows and headed inside, Streak stayed longer than the rest, waving at his fans, blowing kisses to the mares and fillies, and over all just grabbing up all the attention they were hosing him with, he loved every moment of it! When he finally made his way into the backstage area he had more than a few flower petals stuck to his sweat-drenched suit. He gently pushed his goggles up since they were tinted against the sun, improving his vision somewhat, but he still could see almost nothing until his eyes adjusted. Fortunately he knew this first patch was going to be just the large hallway under the stands, it was after he entered the building proper that he would have to watch himself closer. The further he went from the arena, the dimmer the light got as bright sunlight was replaced by flickering candle light. He smiled as he headed for his dressing room. He loved his job, he loved his fans... he did not love walking around the cool back-stage area in a soaking-wet jumpsuit though...
  16. This page is for people can post their fan-art so people can see and im glad to see all of the works of art to come in!!
  17. Hearts and Hooves Day, one that had little weight on the life of one scientist mare until recently. The day designated to the celebration of romance had always seemed a nuisance to the unicorn, as she would always be pulled away from her work by some familial event. However, this year was quite a different one. The unicorn had a pony with which to spend the day and it made the mare rather apprehensive. The social protocol for such an event was very unknown to the generally out-of-touch pony. So, she had come about a way that made the whole affair into a familiar situation. Taking the idea to view the day as an experiment of sorts, Quantum Flux did what any good scientist would before beginning a study, she researched the subject. The socio-historical archives of the Great Library of Canterlot proved quite useful in her search for knowledge. She learned about the customs and historical origin of the event, which would make for an interesting conversation in the mare's opinion. However, she still frittered about nervously as she quickly wrapped up the gift that she had obtained for her very special somepony. Tesla looked on with disinterest, finding no reason for the anxious behaviour of his master. However, the mare spoke disjointedly aloud to the ferret, hoping to organize the jumble of thoughts in her mind. “Completely irrational, you know what you should be doing...absolutely unprepared...too much adhesive...what if it's terrible...how did I even get into this whole thing anyway...” Noticing that she had only a few minutes before they were to meet in the upper floor of the clock tower, Flux hastily completed her wrapping and dashed over to her dismally disorganized living space. It was a stark contrast to the pristine nature of her scientific workspace, but the unicorn saw no reason to keep it in order. Until she needed it to be so, that is. Rummaging through her various lab coats and formal attire, she attempted to find the right outfit for the approaching event.
  18. Bonfire was taken aback for a moment. He'd really only come out here to figure out what was causing the annoying sensation in his horn. Now he found himself teaching this filly about fire magic, and she was asking him to be her mentor. Bonfire was no stranger to training other ponies. It was expected that a veteran of his rank would train new recruits to the REA. But that was the issue; the ponies he'd trained before had been soldiers. Fire Heart was just a kid, and his normal teaching style probably wouldn't go over very well. On the other hoof, he knew only too well what could happen if a gift like Fire Heart's got out of control. She needed someone to help her that realized the differences between fire magic and other unicorn magic. There were other pyrokinetic ponies in the city, but none that really knew well. (And the one he did know, he didn't trust.) He reluctantly made the decision to help teach the filly. That's when he noticed that the buzzing was gone... "Ok, Fire Heart," Bonfire said to the filly, "I can help teach you. BUT, I can only help you when I'm off duty." He paused briefly, thinking of his duty schedule for the next week. "Come up to the palace on Wednesday, after your classes. Tell the guard at the gate that you need to see me. It will be safer to do this on the training grounds there."
  19. Angstrom You think that’s how magic really works? What do your p-values look like? RP Type: Mane RP Name: Professor Angstrom, PhD Sex: Male Age: Stallion Species: Unicorn Coat Color: Goldenrod (#FFB100) Mane/Tail Color & Style: Auburn (#A52A2A). Mane is kept cropped short, but tail is allowed to grow longer. Grows a "soul patch." Eye Color: Hazel/Green Cutie Mark: Angstrom symbol, representing his knack for minutiae and his general love of physical science. Physique: Average for a unicorn stallion of his age. No huge muscles, but still fairly trim. Has a penchant for flat caps, tweed jackets, and solid-colored neckties. Distinguishing Marks: Three small earrings in his left ear made of metal recovered from a meteorite. Origin: Born and raised in Manehattan. Undergraduate in physics from Stalliongrad University. PhD from Canterlot U where he now teaches. Occupation: Professor of aetheric science at Canterlot University. Motivation: To show Equestria that magic... is science! Likes: Physics, mathematics, aetherodynamics, theorycraft, homebrewing, tea, coffee, inquisitive minds, pipes and pints, clever solutions to vexing problems, good wine Dislikes: Badly written term papers, obnoxious ponies, apathetic students, barroom swill, energy drinks, technical difficulties, grading menial coursework, willful ignorance Character History Angstrom was a precocious colt, eternally curious, and forever attentive to the smallest things. His parents, a small-time business owner and a school teacher in Manehattan, encouraged him to excel in all he did, though they could seldom keep up with his inquisitive mind and capacity for acquiring knowledge. In school he was the king of the science fair with his profound, yet elegant project to measure and quantify the strength of everyday aetheric interactions. It was his attention to detail and his desire to be able to quantify the unquantifiable that earned him his cutie mark. Angstrom breezed his way through primary and secondary school, eventually being accepted to the prestigious University of Stalliongrad. There, he studied physics, graduating with top marks and further expanding upon his work in secondary school. During his undergraduate experience, Angstrom fought hard with lack of grant money and the ill-understood mechanics of his research. Few ponies had ever stopped to consider how magic worked; only whether or not it worked at all. Despite the setbacks and stone walls, Stalliongrad took Angstrom’s naturally inquisitive mind and honed it to a fine point, suitable for pedagogy and higher level research. After graduating from Stalliongrad University, he took his work to Canterlot University, a veritable Mecca of arcane research and education at the time. After earning his PhD in aetheric science, Angstrom was hired on as a professor. He continues his research at Canterlot U. During his doctorate program, Angstrom courted and married Dawn Chorus, who also teaches at Canterlot University. Character Personality Professor Angstrom is perhaps known just as much for his incisive wit as his theories of Equestrian magic. Angstrom is at his best when he has somepony to spar with, figuratively of course. The good professor prefers his classes be an exchange of ideas rather than standing in front of the class blowing hot air, as he would say. Angstrom conducts class informally when possible. He can often be seen chatting up his graduate students and research assistants in a local pub or coffee shop, being a firm believer that empowered, comfortable students and staff are productive students and staff. This laid-back teaching style and propensity for discussion also extends to his personal life. It is not uncommon to find Angstrom and his wife teasing each other with science nerd jokes on their way to university from their Canterlot flat. Angstrom is highly intelligent, but also down to earth, seeing his abilities more as a gift than an entitlement. Angstrom is not a belligerent pony and will not go out of his way to pick fights, though he still believes that there is a special rung in Tartarus for ponies who groom themselves to be dumb and entitled. As such, though he lives in Canterlot, he generally avoids the areas where high-society types are expected to gather. Angstrom is very detail-oriented. He has a knack for picking up on small things and classifying them appropriately. For the most part, he is very meticulous and methodical, though this can also be a liability, as he often finds himself micromanaging projects, funding, and time that he’d originally intended to delegate to somepony else. If there’s anything that he’s learned in the rigors of research, it’s the value of pacing, something he is still working on. Skill Set Research methodology. Years of experience conducting research have ingrained scientific standards for research design firmly in Angstrom's mind. Statistics. Though it was merely his graduate minor at Canterlot U, Angstrom heavily emphasizes the importance of backing hypotheses with statistics and context. Wine tasting. Though a newly-acquired skill for Angstrom, the professor extends his categorization skills from aetherics to wines. Spellbook Cantrips. Basic light, mage hand, and other sundry minor spells. Arcane sensor. A spell developed over years of practice and trial and error, the sensor spell allows Angstrom to measure and assign hard numbers to magical phenomena that he can perceive.
  20. It had been forever since Waltzing Serenade came home to Canterlot, he'd been away, traveling for years now. Walking down the cobblestone streets with a 'Clop, clop, clop' Waltzing sighed. Looking around, he didn't reconize any of the buildings, Waltzing had no idea how close he was to his parent's home. He had to admit it, he was completely lost. "Oh, sure, I can navagate all through this land but I go home and suddenly I forget all my skills!" Annoyed, Waltzing Serenade shook his head with a snort. Being this lost brought back memories from his childhood, memories of himself as a Foal, running about Canterlot trying to get home as night fell. "Ugh!" Not liking these thoughts, Waltzing smacked himself in the head with his hoof to shake them loose. "I am an upstanding Stallion now, I can do this! .....Maybe if I start playing I can jog my memory" Walking over to a little corner, Waltzing Serenade used the magic in his horn to open the bags on his back. Standing upright, he leaned against the wall behind him, and started playing his lute.
  21. Flitwink Flitwink trotted quietly through the hospital. It was a quiet day, not much was happening today other than a veterinary appointment much later in the afternoon. He sighed and trotted casually through the halls. It was strange, not having his hot-headed daughter fluttering around, busying herself with bugging the elderly ponies in the hospital rooms. His clinic was fairly large, standing two stories, and expanding nearly half the city block it was on, and employed a wide range of nurse and a couple more doctor ponies. It's second floor and half of the first were stictly dedicated to pony care, though the odd griffon or even an out of place hippocamp was not uncommon--both inpatient and out, and a small wing on the lower level was dedicated to veterinary care--his own personal wing, really, as he was the only doctor here who specialized in both pony and non-pony care. It had largely expanded from the small split-level shop he and his wife had started with, but it still retained an air of...quaintness...to it. The air was warm, the nurses and staff were friendly, and even on the busiest days, smiles were always exchanged between friends. Everyone was always rather cheerful. Flit sighed as he trotted into the small room between pony and animal care that served as his office. A stack of papers were on his deck, with a note from one of the staff nurse ponies. 'We need more help! Here's the best of them.' He groaned inwardly as he saw the stack of applications before him. He had the smallest fragment of hope that maybe some sort of emergency would stumble in...or even a foal with a cold...something...
  22. At Cross-Stitch's tailor shop... Cross-Stitch opened he doors to his shop with a light nudge. The door swung open and revealed the bustling city scene that was Canterlot to him. Noise poured into the shop, as well as the light from Celestia's bright sun. Cross-Stitch stood for a while, admiring the city scene before him. He always enjoyed his life here in Canterlot, and he always enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the city every morning when he opened up shop. Many ponies were out and about on this morning, going about their business, opening stalls, taking their filly's to class, and even stopping to chat with one another. Cross-Stitch could only smile as he turned from the scene before him to finish preparing his shop. He brought out some of his latest suits to put on display in the front window to attract customers. Cross-Stitch stood for a second to examine his latest works. With a hoof to his chin, and scrutinizing eyes, he went over every detail in the suit. He nodded with a smile at his work an trotted off, eager to finish setting up shop. One of Cross-Stitch's favorite parts of running a store, wasn't actually the sales, but was instead getting to meet new ponies. After setting out his final suit for display, he turned to examine the shop. He let out a low 'Hmm' as his over-examining eyes went over the shop again and again. A wide smile spread across his face as he nodded again in satisfaction. He personally deemed the shop ready to open. As he trotted to the "Closed" sign to flip it around, he caught a glimpse of himself in a mirror. "Oh my, I almost forgot the most important thing to prepare: Myself!" Cross-Stitch said with a light giggle. He trotted up the stairs of his shop to his living quarters. Upstairs was a wreck compared to the shop downstairs, but it was the way Cross-Stitch liked it. Fabric was strewn out everywhere, a table was cluttered with needles and spools, walls were decorated with design ideas, and Cross-Stitch loved it. His mind felt free to wander up here, and wander it did. After a quick bath, and some grooming of his mane, Cross-Stitch finally deemed himself ready to present to the public. He trotted back downstairs to the "Closed" sign outside of his shop, "I hereby pronounce 'The Perfect Fit,' open!" said Cross-Stitch as he turned the sign to display 'Open.'
  23. A chart appeared in front of Betterbones' eyes. It was a line graph, and on it was a series of notes and scribblings, and a green line that started off high up on the bar to the left, and then, in a jagged decent, ended up fairly near the bottom. This was a graph detailing how good his day had been. It was also completely imaginary, and he shook his head to clear it from his vision. Perhaps he would have made a task of putting together a real graph to illustrate this depressing downfall in his day, but the exercise would have been pointless, as it would have simply gotten wet from the rain that was currently pouring down onto his head and fallen apart. His usually remarkably tall mane was wet and stuck to his head. He hated it when his mane was flat. Sat on the bench, he kicked a hoof sulkily at a pebble, sighed, and wished he could be back home. Of course, this city had been his home for many years at one point. He had grown up here, met and married the love of his life, raised his daughter, all in Canterlot. So why did he detest the place so much now? It was probably nothing. It was probably just the kind of day he was having - the kind that (literally) dampened one's view on life altogether. The city of Canterlot just happened to be the nearest thing for him to blame it all on. He suppressed a shiver as the cold water trickled down his back and he reminded himself that his life was good, and that he had a lot to be thankful for. I'd be extra-thankful, he added with an internal mumble, if every hotel in a ten-mile radius wasn't packed to capacity... This also explained why the street he was on, which was usually filled with ponies going about their business, was empty. Just him, his bench, the rain, and behind him, a large and decorative fountain that seemed particularly redundant in weather such as this. The doctor looked up at the sky, scowled at the clouds. He knew they were only there because those blasted pegasi put them there. Who made it their business to go about making it rain, anyway? Why, if he could give them a piece of his mind, he'd... well, he'd... He'd probably make his point in a reasonable and controlled fashion. Maybe write them a letter of complaint. Well, everypony has their bad days, right?
  24. -Begin OOC- This is a continuation of "The Art of Snow-War". It didn't get very far at all, and is now being continued in this forum due to expectations the event forum will end. And so sorry for taking so long to make this thread, guys! If any of you from the previous thread do not wish to continue, just let me know. There is currently 1 open space on the red team. (Though I don't have anything against somepony joining as an "interference" player to mess with the teams, if it makes the RP more fun) -End of OOC- Lady Lanceguard waited a moment for the rest of the blue team to arrive, then spoke, "Tactics, everypony! Seeing as there are six of us, and two primary objectives- defend our fort, and pummel the enemy with snowballs- we should split into groups of three. The defense group shall stay at the fort- Two of you will face the front, and the third will take on a support and lookout role. The offense group shall maintain a tight triangular formation at all times. The pony in the rear of this formation must be our best catcher. This will ensure that if one of our leading attackers goes down, he or she can be brought immediately back into action. Finally, one thing that applies to both groups- if your opponents are spread out, focus on one at a time so you need not worry about them outflanking you. Have you any questions?" Lanceguard took a quick look around at the group, and was suddenly concerned about her usual position as one of the attackers. "Now... since it looks like this snowball fight will primarily be an air battle, I feel I would only hinder our attacking forces. I will remain at our fort as one of the defenders, but do not expect me to have a passive role. I am quite capable of flinging snowballs at long range." -OOC again- Useful info section. 25. ~Lampwick "Flicker" Jane~ Dawn was just coating the frame of the mountains nearby, slowly covering and warming them like a warm blanket sweeping over the land. They glowed with the early attention, letting the warmth trickle over them, pour through the valleys and trails that wound between them, and fill the land with glinting morning dew. Through trees it wound, and eventually, it found the rustic building it had searched for. Sunlight painted the wall, bled into the window sills, overtaking the lone building in a warm flash, leaving it at the bottom of a river of morning sunshine as day continued to crash onward. Inside the top room of the wayward inn, dust motes danced around a lazy hoof hanging in the air- lazily floating and falling in the glow of morning as it beamed through the window. The lone hoof stretched out like a branch for the nearby bed, collecting the morning motes as they settled until finally, seemingly carrying one mote too many, the leg kicked- the motion sending the motes into a flurry of motion amidst the morning rays again. The motion had also shifted the haphazard layers of blankets that swathed, draped, hung, and covered the form beneath them. Bits of tan colored fur, hooves, and milk chocolatey-brown mane stuck out in seemingly impossibly array, making it difficult for anypony entering the room to believe another living pony resided within the tangled mass. The muffled sounds of snoring and sleep made it even harder to believe. The body shifted and snorted; and for a long moment that threatened to break the fragile morning peace the room held its breath. Even the rays of light held their place, shimmering, but afraid to move and risk waking the blanket-beast. An ear flicker here. Movement of a hoof there. The snuffle of a muzzle against pillows somewhere lost inside- then finally the rhythmic breathing of sleep filled the room again- the gentle rise and fall of the blankets found their pace, and the sifting through the window began to crawl along the floor again. It made its way across the small room taking over small inch by inch of the room as it stretched itself towards the wall. Finally dawn had reached the cusp of the wall, it had succeeded so far in making its way across the entire room without stirring the life within- and today, maybe today, was the day it would climb the wall before she woke up- just perhaps today would be the day that Lampwick slept in! Taking a moment to gather its strength, the dawn light seemed to take a cautioned breath of a pause- then it began to reach- just another fraction of an inch and it would climb the wall! It reached its tendrils upward toward the wall- and just as it began to shimmy up it a large shadow filled the room, completely obliterating its progress. With a mighty buck the tangled knot of blankets were expelled from the bed to fall unceremoniously against the far wall. Two hind-hooves stretched out into the middle of the room, one at a time, from elevated perch of the bed. Stretching turned into a few bounced kicks as Lampwick threw off the covers of sleep like they were but thin blankets. Letting out one telling yawn, the only suggestion she had slept at all, she shook her coat, mane and tail out, snapping the rest of her sleepy body into shape quicker than a Pegasus could stomp out a lightning bolt. Her ears perked and she did a few quick excited circles of chasing her tail while searching the room- finding her satchel tucked under a few stray blankets from the night she quickly nipped it up into her grasp and made her way to the door. Hoofing it open she almost bolted right through- but instead she gave a momentary pause to look back at the room that had been hers since she was a filly. There were many rooms in the inn- but this one would always be hers. The room was mostly plain- no different than the other rooms in the inn. Yet here and there was something ordinary, brought from some distant land. A remnant of a piece of fabric. A carving that hung on the wall. Most of these would mean nothing to most anypony; but here was where the few treasures Lampwick kept stayed. Home was always in her heart- she was always on the move and never settled for long; but here a few pieces of her heart stayed. Lampwicks eyes moved to a small box, that had lain open, exposing a small lock of mane tied together with a white ribbon. She gave the briefest of smiles- the kind that betrayed the emotion in her heart, before turning away from the room and hoofing her way down the stairs. Nopony else was awake yet, but her hooves thundered all the same down the short staircase. All she could think of was her plans for the day. She smiled again, this time a brave smile as thought to herself: “Day Three! Move Along Day!”
