Cutie Mark

Character 4

Character 3

Character 2

Main Character

  1. Name: Sharpfeather Gender: Female Age: 24 Species: Griffin Eye colour: Grey Coat: Grey and brown. Head/Tail: Brown for the head. Grey for the tail. Mix of both for the body. Physique: Slightly muscular. Residence: Wherever Firey Ice is. Occupation: Former bodyguard of the Royal House and former guide of Griffinstone's national park. Cutie Mark: N/A Unique Traits: Warrior, self-styled Robin Hood. History: She was a former guard for the Royal House, who had noticed her brutal self-defense skills due to her headstrong nature and frequent accusations of stealing. Becoming bored and irritated of the children, she left after winning a "leaving challenge", becoming a guide to Griffinstone's only national park. She met Firey during his travels and they have struck up a 'friendly-yet-little-more-than-that-but-either-one-wants-to-take-the-next-step' relationship after saving each other from some nobels' guards. The edge of her wings and the bracelets on her claws and paws are armored, with magical storage for her bracelets that can turn her invisible and increase her punching and kicking power. The tip of her tail is also armored, but it's disguised so as to provide an element of surprise. Character Personality: Cold, yet friendly; trusting, yet cautious; headstrong and slightly stubborn. More concerned about civilians' safety if there are any nearby. Character Summary: A cold, yet friendly griffon who decide to take up a Robin Hood pastime while guarding the royal family until she quit and became a guard for the national park, meeting Firey Ice the first time he visited and deciding to go with him after they rescued each other from danger.
  2. From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

Inkbrand's first customer at his Tattoo Parlor in Manehatten. This one is a permanent tattoo, something Inkbrand really appreciates, so extra OOC time was spent to make sure it was perfect. The picture itself came out pretty nicely, I think - I'm not the best at griffons, but Zelda is one awesome griffon to practice on. Zelda © Tacobob
  3. Zeig

    Human!Zelda

From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

Messy sketch time! My take on what I imagine human!Zelda looks like. Note that this is just my own artistic interpretation. I feel like she would have a very elegant look to her, with a defined jawline, high cheekbones, and a long neck. But also with an edgy sort of haircut, the sort that only a select few people can manage to pull off without looking ridiculous. Zelda © Tacobob
  4. Zeig

    Hawkeye

From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

Like I'm sure many artists do, I tend to feel validated when people comment on art pieces I upload. Personally, I really enjoy getting "Like"s on Canterlot.com. Not sure why, I just like 'em (ahaha get it seewhatIdidthar) Anyways, there are a few people who almost always drop off a "Like" on pretty much anything I upload to my gallery, and this is a thank you to one whose characters I've never drawn before. The pose was a pain to get right, but aside from that, the rest was fun to draw. The head gave me trouble though - was trying to make the tufts cat-like without being too cat-like, to mimic Hawkeye12's own reference picture. Hawkeye © Hawkeye12
  5. Zeig

    Corva Pardus

From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

Another request this time for Pyro's Triad character Corva. A lazy griffon with a perchance for settling all of her problems with some strongly worded letters - aka fists - Corva's going to eventually be running around with the other Triad members as they plod along Long Kong, causing mayhem and trouble when she isn't being lazy. Fun fact: When I read Corva's physical description, I was a bit worried that she'd end up looking like Zelda, one of tacobob's characters. Luckily, Corva's got some very distinctive design choices. I mean, red and orange?! Zelda wouldn't be caught dead in red and orange tattoos. Inkbrand would make sure of that. Corva (c) Pyroblaze
  6. Roleplay Type: WoE Name: Gale Gender: Male Age: Adult Species: Griffon Eye colour: Blue (#2EB7E6) Coat: Lower Body: Red (#A21F0A), Wings: Dark Red (#821808), Feet: Yellow (#FFB500) Mane/Tail: Brown (#56413D) Physique: Average height for an adult griffon. He has two sets of scars, one over his left eye and the other on his neck. Residence: Small farming village in The Neighples Delta Occupation: Retired Army & Guard, currently a farmer Cutie Mark: N/A Unique Traits: He has years of experience in fighting, though he’s gotten a bit older he can still stand up for himself better than the average griffon in battle. History: He joined the Royal Army when he was young, during which time he was saved by a unicorn, someone he would owe a life debt to. After serving for 10 years, he was able to leave his position and become a guard for a small town in the Neighples Delta. It was during this time that his debt was called on, and he was made the guardian of a young unicorn foal by the name of Amber Shadow. Having no choice, he begrudgingly raised her as his own, and after a few years actually began caring for her as if she was his own child. During his time working as a guard, he had a bad encounter with some other Griffons, to protect Amber, and ended up with two sets of scars from the ensuing fight. After this, he left his position and began working as a farmer, something he believed was more suited to someone raising a foal. Amber would often bring back old books she found, or bought, when she was young. Gale eventually began reading them himself, and found that he quite enjoyed the stories and history many told. He won’t admit to enjoying it, but he loves sitting down and relaxing with a good book. After Amber was old enough, she set out on her own, leaving Gale to live alone again. He continued his work as a farmer, finding himself enjoying the calmer work over being a guard. Character Personality: Standoffish and short tempered to everyone except those he’s closest with. He makes it a point to come off as tough, bragging about his time in battle, or as a guard at every change he gets if he feels he isn’t being respected enough. When it comes to those he’s close with, like family, he’s quick to help. He won’t admit to caring about them directly, and will often make excuses when assisting to make it seem like less of a big deal. He’s more open to kindness from non-griffons after raising a pony as his own child, though he’ll never openly admit it. Character Summary: Gale worked in the Army and in the Guard in his younger years. After an old debt was called in, he raised a young unicorn as his own child. He’s quick to protect those he cares about, and is short tempered to those he doesn’t. He picked up reading as a hobby from Amber, and enjoys sitting down with a good book to relax.
  7. ~Basics~ Roleplay Type: WoE Name: GillianNicknames: Gill, Gilly, Gilligan Sex: Female (her/she)Age: Young AdultSpecies: Griffon (She's half Peregrine Falcon, half Cheetah)Sexual Orientation: Lesbian ~Physical Attributes~ Eye Color: A soft green that melds into orange. Character Color: Her main body is a normal cheetah coloring with dark brown spots covering throughout. Her bird claws and beak are a orange-y yellow. Mane/Tail: Her plumage ranges from three different colors, a darker blue that looks grey, a lighter blue-grey, and a more mellowed out brown. She's rather fluffy, as her chest and the top of her head has extra feather. The ones on her head form a mohawk, reaching down her neck. Her wings are large and strong, and her inner feathers are lighter than the outer ones. Physique: Gill is very athletic looking, tall and muscular, literally build for speed. Extra: She always has her flight goggles on her head, and is rarely seen without them. When she isn't wearing them, you can see that her right eyebrow is partly shaved off. She does that on purpose for a more 'edgy' look. Cutie Mark: Griffons don't have cutie marks, duh! Unless you're Gabby. Description: N/A Story: N/A ~Outside Information~ Family: Aunt (Griffon (Falcon/White Lion)): Gia Occupation: Air Sprinter (And hopeful future Wonderbolt) Residence: She currently lives in Griffonstone with her Aunt, but travels for her meets. ~Characteristics~ Character Personality: Gillian isn't really your typical grumpy griffon, as she isn't the type to lash out on some creature because of something stupid. She's really quite reserved, most of the time keeping to herself and only herself. Because of that, she doesn't have many friends. Or any at all. Like most griffons, she wasn't opened to friendship. The only times she's had a glimpse was when she was in the Junior Speedsters Flight Camp when she was little. She's not known to get comfortable with any creature, as she doesn't trust them. Gill isn't rude or anything, she just simply isn't the type to start a conversation. When she is brought into one, she always has a level head and speaks out with basic answers. Sometimes she's a little awkward, or feels awkward, or both. She was shy when she was little, which is kind of what brought out her more reserved nature. She's a pretty determined griffon, and likes to focus on her work and how she can improve. She doesn't really take cocky creatures all too well, and isn't fond of unnecessary reckless actions. She tends to be quick to be defensive with these types of creatures, and likes to fire back insults. It's her and her work and that's it. Gill isn't much of a team player, so she has trouble fulfilling her dream of being a Wonderbolt. She has a long way to go. Unique Traits: Gill is very very fast. This birb was literally built for speed. Being a mix of the two fastest animals known to Equestria, it's not hard for her to prove herself worthy of winning races. Her wings are strong and powerful, and she's very agile. It takes little to no effort for her to keep up with others, but she does work a lot. It's rare to see her doing something else rather than flying. She's also rather fast on the ground too, and loves to take on large hikes and climbs. Her endurance is phenomenal, and can fly and run for a really long time. That's just from staying in shape though, because cheetahs aren't known for have a strong endurance. History: Gillian was born on a rather rainy day in Griffonstone. She was kind of unexpected from her birth mom, as she was the result of a one night fling. Her mom wouldn't be able to take care of her, as she really didn't want to. Her mom's sister though, Gia, wanted to take her in. Her Auntie Gia wanted to have a kid on her own, but because Griffonstone was so depressed at the time, it was kind of hard. So, Gia took custody of the little baby birb. She sees her mom sometimes, but isn't super close with her. Growing up, Gillian was rather shy. She hated unnecessary attention, and just wanted to be by herself in the backyard. All she would do was fly around and figure out how to do cool tricks. She over heard her aunt talk about the Wonderbolts one time, and the griffon was very intrigued by the group. For days on end she'd try and get her aunt to talk about the flying group, but the only thing that little Gill was scared of was that it was an all pony group. A little discouraged, the griffon asked her aunt to put her in a flying club. She started out in an all griffon flight school, but realized their grumpy and rude nature overwhelmed her. They also didn't try as hard as her, and she didn't have any griff to push her to her limits. She stuck to herself, and her aunt ended up sticking her in a flight school located in Cloudsdale. Of course Gill was nervous to be around a bunch of colorful, happy-go-lucky ponies, but her aunt thought it would be for the best. It was there where she met her match, a little pony named Golden Daze, and Daze's best friend Sea F. Salt. Finally she had some creature to keep up with! They soon became arch rivals, and honestly, as Gill hated Daze's guts. They were rivals for years, and still are. Even though their passions are different, they still push each other. Over the years though, Daze continued to be extremely cocky, which drove Gill insane, but, Gill does have a soft spot for the Pegasus. Maybe even has a little crush. Shhhhh... Currently, the griffon is an air sprinter, and has meets literally everywhere. She just hopes one day the Wonderbolts look her up. She has yet to join the academy, but eventually will. A little growing up photo for reference: Character Summary: Gillian is a reserved griffon literally made for speed, and wants to fulfill her dreams of becoming one of the best fliers. She has a long way to go though..

  11. From the album: Regular Cast Pics

Probably seen this on the side bar now, but this is a larger image of the same. Enjoyed making this; the challenge was to get as many species as I could without it becoming cluttered when shrunk to sidebar size. For the curious, the reason for no yaks was the picture was completed before Party Pooped came out. Why Cheerilee? I always imagined her as the tourist type, going on trips (mostly in the summer) to various places in Equestria, collecting images and souvenirs for herself and for future school lessons.

  12. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Name: Tarisio Mercutio Goldplume Sex: Male Age: Young Adult Species: Griffon Eye Colour: Gold (#FFDF00) with flecks of Silver (#CCCCCC) in the right light. Coat: Silky black fur with darker spots. Mane/Tail: Raven Black Feathers (#141A16), with Crimson Red Feathers (#DC143C) around the Eyes and the first pinions on each wing. Feathers on the top of his head sweep forward and slightly downward. Physique: Slim, toned body, slightly taller than average, handsomely built. Residence: Formerly Talonopolis. Occupation: Sky Pirate. History: Tarisio was born to a wealthy family in Talonopolis, and as a young griffon he was rather the little rapscallion. Always getting into mischief, though any real trouble that he got into was quickly covered up by his parents, usually by them buying his way out of it. As a young child, he would often wander the more run-down side of the city, making friends with the orphans and other 'riff-raff' there, stealing from passersby, pulling pranks on the citizenry, or just generally having a good time. As he grew into his teens, Tarisio became quite the young gentleman. Though he would still run with his, as his parents would say unscrupulous friends, he would often stop to woo the ladies with his charming looks, golden eyes, and silver tongue. Be they taken or not, which would often lead him on daring chases and many a fight. His parents of course, were never too happy with this, and tried many times to make the boy settle down. Hiring at home tutours, having him take violin lessons, putting him to work in the family-owned museum, anything to keep the boy from his less than stellar behaviour. But while it did make it harder to, it didn't stop Tarisio from doing what he did best. For that matter, the fact his parents had tried to keep him tied down drove his wanderlust. And in secret he began to study swordplay and piracy. It would be the best way to satisfy his craving for adventure. It would be a few years later that his family had came into possession of a decommissioned and refurbished military airship. A large and beautiful vessel adorned in silver and gold. Likely something used in the Royalty's own army. He knew that now was the time. His dream would soon be a reality. Sneaking out in the dead of night, Tarisio met in secret with his soon to be crew, the orphans and other children he spent his childhood with, and together they stole away into the museum and made away with their grand prize, the airship was now dubbed 'The Zephyr's Kiss' by Tarisio, her new captain. Escaping late at night was easier than during the day, but they knew they couldn't stop moving for a while. It was a few weeks later before they could finally dock, get some dinner, and a drink or five. Wandering into the local tavern, an unsavoury sight caught his eye. A fight in the corner of the bar was beginning to break out as four griffons angrily surrounded a fifth. Knowing that this was not a fair fight in the least, Tarisio immediately made his way over to the crowd, pushing past the four to stand next to the outnumbered griffon. Who, after some protest and aid in sending the attackers packing, was reluctantly grateful for Tarisio's help. Introducing herself as Minerva, the two griffons took to the bar and drank their fill. Talking through the evening as more of his crew finally arrived after dinner. With a grin on his face, Tarisio offered Minerva a spot on his crew. To which she agreed, on the condition SHE got to be first mate. The Captain agreed, and five years later, the crew of The Zephyr's Kiss is still going strong. Sailing the winds, stealing gold and hearts as they please. Character Summary: Tarisio's passions don't involve stealing and unlawful activities alone. Despite being forced into it, Tarisio loves the violin, often playing it on deck to entertain his crew while they work. While he often keeps his disdain for laws quiet, when one speaks to him about it, he'll often spit on the ground, saying that 'We're not bound by laws here. No one rules the sky, and like it, we are free.'. Despite being unlawful, the griffon couldn't be considered evil, he stands by his own personal code of honour. Never laying a claw on a child and doing everything he can to avoid fighting with women, oft times choosing to smooth talk his way out of a fight. Though this should not be mistaken for weakness, as Tarisio can certainly hold his own, both sword and claw, against most opponents. Additional Info: Wears a red 'steampunk' style vest, with intricate latticework designs across it. Poison Joke Reaction: Becomes meek and shy, especially around those he finds attractive. Font Colour:(#4682B4)

  15. RP Type: World of Equestria Name: Raven Duskwing (just don't call her "catbird" or "birdie.") Sex: Female Age: Young Adult Species: Griffon Eye Color: Dark Purple Coat: A Blueish Black. The tips of raven's feathers on her wings and the tips of feathers on her head are blue as is a blue around her eyes. Physique: Raven possesses a primarily black panther body with raven-like wings, talons, and head. Her sleek body makes her agile on land, able to leap great distances with ease. She is also a good flier, having both speed and agility. Residence: Cloudsdale Occupation: Part of the weather team, specializing in thunder clouds. History: Born in Rockwington, Raven's parents showered her with lots of love and attention to their only daughter. Her mother was a teacher while her father was a historian learning about the culture of the ponies that lived in Equestria. They knew that at even a young age the griffon was very introverted, preferring to keep to herself and avoid large crowds or loud noises which disturbed her. This made her time in school difficult with making friends as others believed that she was simply uninterested in getting to know them. The issue wasn't fixed quickly, but through time and maturing Raven learned to open up more and become more sociable. The classmates in turn saw that she was a wealth of information and someone to turn to for advice. Ever since she was a young chick, Raven became fascinated by the tales told by her father regarding what was across the Painted Pinto Desert, places where ponies roamed. She learned from him about the history and culture of the ponies, and the more she learned the more she desired to meet them. Raven was especially interested in magic, the kind that ponies possessed, learning it as a hobby of hers. Sadly being a griffon she could not perform the magic like ponies did but it was still enjoying to learn as much as she could. One of the things that did benefit her was learning meditation to calm herself in tense situations and help her focus on any task that she needed to do. When she was old enough, she bid her parents farewell and decided to make a new life for herself. Crossing the desert she eventually made her way to Cloudsdale, a place that was not overly populated and was intriguing to the griffon being a floating cloud city. Of course moving on to a new place meant that she had to find a job. She heard from her father once about how Pegesai could move clouds around, so she decided to try her skill at this. Even though she is not adept at moving clouds like the other ponies, she is not afraid to do the dangerous jobs like moving the storm clouds to where they need to be. At first she wondered if leaving her home and her parents and friends she grew so attached to was a good idea, especially the way ponies looked at her, thinking as an untruthful or intimidating pony. Yet overtime she tried her best to fit in to the predominately pony city. There were still those who were leery around her, but Raven is as she was determined to show ponies her true side and to learn about the new world she now lives in. Character Summary: Raven can be described as a very calm emotionally restrained individual. She rarely gets excited or angry about things happening around her and has the ability to shrug off most things that would affect others. Her voice is very deadpan, only showing slight changes in emotions. There some who see her personality as being secretive or that she is uninterested, which only adds to her dark imposing appearance. This is far from the truth, as she wants to make as many friends as possible. Once Raven gets to know somepony and established their trust she will stand by them. There are some ponies or other species that she cannot stand like those that are constantly hyperactive or are negative, and to these she will do her best to ignore them. Raven is a very smart griffon, reading anything she can get her talons on and having a well stocked library in her home. She finds reading to take her mind off of the cares of the day and allows her to remain calm. Although not a unicorn she fancies books on magic just to read. In addition to reading, she likes learning about other ponies, meditating, flying, and the night sky. She prefers to stay away from large crowds where she feels constrained and uncomfortable. Ponies that consider her threatening or generally bad also upset her even though she does not often try to show this. Overall Raven Duskwing seeks to make friends with the ponies while helping them however she can.
  16. The sun rose high in the Appleoosan Desert sky, it's fierce rays casting the enormous shadow of a large winged creature against the sandy wasteland and his massive wingspan carried his from across the sandy expanse. A squinted look up at the high flying character would reveal the silhouette of a griffon, his exact form and coloration blocked out by the bright light of the sun. After flying a great deal of distance across the desert, he descended dramatically, towards the ground. With one large flap of his black wings, he landed relatively cleanly in the sand outside a deserted town. The griffon was clad in a nearly uniform set of black that started at the tip of his long wiry tail and drifted all the way through his wings and torso. His head was covered in silver feathers, a large sharp black beak protruding from his face as his keen yellow eyes looked over the abandoned town that stood before him, defiant against the seemingly endless heat of the area. He raised a black talon from the ground and shuffled it through the large brown backpack that was fastened around his neck. After a few short moments of fishing about, he plucked a map out of his bag, the griffon carefully unfolding it as he looked at what seemed to be a detailed representation of this particular portion of Equestria. He quickly spotted Appleoosa, a nearby town, the hybrid trailing a claw up the map as he searched for his location. "Dullahan Springs, also classified as a ghost town. I probably wouldn't want to live in a town with a name like that either," the griffon commented with a light shiver of his neck as he looked the map over one last time. "It is strange though, this is the only abandoned town that is listed as a ghost town, I'll have to go tell the map maker about the minor inconsistency when I get back to Canterlot," he explained to nobody in particular, the griffon slipping the map back into his back pack as he thought about entering the shady looking town.
  17. Roleplay Area: World of Equestria Name: Maverick Sex: Male Age: Young Adult Species: Griffon Eye color: Blue Coat color: Regular half lion and eagle half. Feathers are mostly white except for the feathers on his head which are pushed to one side and have red tips. Mane/Tail: Tail is a regular brown. His feathers on his head start off white and have red tips. He always wears a pink seashell necklace around his neck. Physique: He is a slender griffon. He is lean but not muscular. Residence: Born and raised in Rockwington. Once he was of age he moved out and currently lives in a small beach cottage on the sea of Baltimare. Occupation: He teaches all types of species the art of surfing. He also participates in the local surfing contests and sometimes sells the shells he finds on the beach. Cutie Mark: N/A History: Born in Rockwington the little Griffon was just like all the other griffons. He acted and behaved just like them. That was until he and his parents decided to take a trip to..none other than Baltimare! The beach city was seen as a perfect place for the family to go. Once they got there the young Maverick seemed to never want to get out of the water. He seemed to love the taste of saltwater, no matter how bad it was for him. His parents were just happy to see him so happy. When the griffon was splashing around in the shallow part of the beach he noticed the number of seashells on the sandy floor. He picked up a few and gave them to his parents as a gift. And pretty much right after that moment the little Maverick noticed something going on out there on the other end of the beach. It seemed like some kind of festival or something. All he really realized was he saw a few ponies ,and even a zebra and griffon or two, out on the ocean on these..long boards racing along the waves. Maverick thought what they were doing looked like so much fun! He wanted to try! But he didn't have on of those boards. So he pleaded to his parents, who eventually caved and went a bought him a beginner board that wasn't the same as the board he wanted. But he didn't care. After that the griffon spent hours, upon hours out there. Constantly falling and getting mouthful after mouthful of salt water and sand in his beak. But he didn't care how long it would take him, he was determined to be as good as the surfers he saw earlier. And good he got. In the three days he had the board he had learned the basics from trying to mimic the moves of those he remembered or even saw. He actually got a few pointers from the stallions on the beach that had participated in the contest. But the dreaded time came. The time for the trio to return to their home. The young Maverick was sad he had to leave yes, but he was happy knowing that he would be back. The years passed and Maverick finally came of age to where his parents thought he would be fine to live on his own. So they proposed he move out and in an instant he shouted he wanted to move to Baltimare and live on the beach. So with his parents help they got some money and before he knew it he was living in his own house on the beach. It was great. Even though he lives by himself he still sees his parents. They come down and visit him a few times when they want to. The griffon is still new to living alone but he will get used to it. Besides, now that he is alone he has started giving lessons to those who want to learn the art of surfing. He makes a few bits off of doing that but usually he doesn't charge teaching what he loves. He likes to sell the shells he finds. He still wears the new shell necklace he made for himself. He will never sell that shell. The griffon is trying to get into the business of learning how to make surfboards. He has the one he bought from the local surf shop..but he feels like he would be more of a true surfer if he made his own board. Maverick still has a lot to look forward to in life. He is ready to face what comes at him head on with confidence. Because life for Maverick...is TOTALLY GNARLY DUDE. Personality: Maverick quite possibly is the most fun loving and easy going griffon a pony or zebra will ever meet. He never seems to get angry and always seems to cope well. He is a different griffon being that he doesn't reside in the Griffon Kingdom. He was born there and all, he just chose to move to out on his own. When one speaks to Maverick he always seems to speak in a calm and slow voice. His vocabulary consists of many different terms one would not usually hear on a daily basis. Such as "Gnarly" or "Bodacious" any many many more. The griffon adopted these new words living on the beach of Baltimare. Since Maverick is easy going he is quite easy to get along with. His sense of humor is just a normal one so jokes in conversation will make him laugh. His semi slow speaking makes for his conversations to take a while. But since he has been talking like that his whole life he can't tell he takes a while to get a story out. He has a large amount of zest for life. Everyday for him is different on account of how the ocean will behave. When a day a comes with bad waves Maverick will often either sit inside his wooden home and do nothing or just find something to occupy his time. Maverick has his faults as well. Due to really only knowing surfing, when he can't surf he will often become bored very quickly. He is easily distracted as well and can often forget what he was talking about mid sentence. Now the biggest fault of Maverick is the fact that he just bottles up his emotions. All of them except for happiness. Whenever something makes him angry or sad he will literally do his best to just forget about it and move on. He doesn't like to let himself get angry or sad. But bottling up your emotions is never good.
  18. Name: Norton Breakbeak (The First) Gender: Male Age: Adult, middle-aged Species: Griffon Eye colour: Auburn, flecked with gold. Character colour: His bird half is that of a bald eagle, with white feathers making for a smooth round head, while the wings are, by contrast, black. The cat half is a mountain lion, with the golden-brown fur common to the kind. Other: He has cultivated a truly magnificent mustache for a griffon. It is dark grey and full-bodied with waxed, curly tips. Physique: His tour in the Aquellian Marines has left him with a basically sound body which has not run to fat, though it is a little slower than it used to be. Residence: Breakbeak City, though he often calls it his Imperial Capital Occupation: Self-declared Emperor. He lives off his medical discharge pay. History: Norton Breakbeak was born to a moderately well-off family from the Clopton shores, or at least well-off for the area. The family were one of the few permanent residents of the place, and kept a small shop for the vacationers when they came, and spent the rest of the time fishing and tending to a small vineyard. Young Norton was the youngest of several chicks, and worked happily on such tasks as fell to the youngest son. Mostly, it was in keeping the shopfront clean, neat, and attractive, which he did with aplomb. He had an inclination for cleanliness and neatness, as it happened; his parents never had to force him to bathe or clean his room, which slightly worried them. Aside from these early idiosyncrasies, Norton had more or less a normal childhood, full of the small adventures than any young griffon might get into in a small coastal town. Like most of the young ones, he always admired the Marines when they came down on vacation, or on training exercises. Seeing them parade about and swagger in their dress uniforms was a real treat for him, and he would often hide close by whenever a squadron came down to the coasts in uniform. One day, he even got up a facsimile of a uniform from various hand-me downs, washed pale and worn, but hemmed to neatness by an indulgent mother, and surreptitiously inserted himself at the end of a row of Marines presenting themselves for inspection upon the beach. The sergeant was not a griffon without humor, and went along with 'joke,' including the young Norton in the exercises, where the rest of the squadron more or less adopted him as a mascot. It wasn't quite according to regulations, but the officer was away, and central command was very far away, so what could be the harm? Norton came home that day announcing his intention to join the Marines, making his parents quite proud. His father even went so far as to see if the young lad could be put into some kind of Officer's training, and directed Norton's remaining education to that goal. It was a success; Norton was accepted to the Military Academy in Talonopolis, and the whole town showed up to see him off. While he wasn't the most brilliant student at the Academy, his diligence and particularity had a way of endearing him to instructors, and he was always willing to lend his classmates a hand if they were struggling. In the end, he got his commission and first assignment in a mountain outpost unit, guarding the Talonopolis Canyon against monster incursions. He served well, eventually earning a promotion to Captain, and was then reassigned to a Desert Patrol unit, which would clear out any bandits that threatened the borders of Aquellia. Unfortunately, the patrol turned out to be a complete disaster. The major in charge of the unit was inexperienced in desert travel, and most of the rest were just as green as him. The unit got lost, and found themselves stranded without water and in need of rescue themselves. Norton, along with quite a few others, was suffering from severe heatstroke, and was served with a medical discharge. He took to wandering after that, not quite right in the head anymore. There weren't many places that a griffon could live on a Captain's three-quarters pay, but Breakbeak city was one of them. He took a small lodging, in a room above a worker's diner, and spent the next few years living quietly, practically as a recluse. Most of his day was spent in reading every paper and book that came from Aquellia, or in taking exercise flights around the city. Nopony or griffon in the city, then, paid him any much mind until they opened their morning newspapers to be greeted with this astonishing letter, which Norton had sent in to every paper in Equestria and Aquellia that would print it: Needless to say, no one reading that was entirely certain what to make of it. The first question on the muzzles and beaks of all readers was "Just who is this Norton Breakbeak?" He wasn't hard for them to find. Perched on the balcony of the only building on the street which had all the industrial soot scrubbed off of it was Norton I, in all his finery (purchased from the local pawnshop.) In the weeks and months that followed, the astonished populace awoke to the fact that, no, Norton was not joking; he really thought of himself as the Emperor, albeit one still in need of solidifying his position. Second, this "Emperor" seemed to believe that the bustling, dirty, workaday depot city of Breakbeak was really one of Equestria's great metropolises, which neglect had allowed to fall into a state of decay, which he proposed, by Imperial edict, to remedy. He would write to newspapers, and show up in full regalia to town council meetings with propositions and plans of action, surprisingly well-thought out, for "restoring the Imperial Seat." While nopoony or griffon in the city takes him seriously, and none outside seem to have acknowledged him yet, the consensus is that "The old fellow's mostly harmless, bit of a laugh really, and he does care enough to keep his stoop clean. Heck, he'll clean yours if you call him 'Your Imperial Majesty,' and promise to take care of it after." In fact, he's already made a marked improvement of the street he lives on... Character Summary: Obviously, he has quite huge delusion of Grandeur, though whether this is a holdover from his heatstroke, some new madness bred of isolation, or a very elaborate plan of some kind is not possible for the outsider to tell. His family hasn't yet heard of his new calling in life, and it isn't certain what they'd do if they found out. Besides this one spot of madness on his brain, however, he's a surprisingly clear thinker. He's well-read up on things happening at home, and is quite adept at summing up the situation and providing an opinion upon it, though political matters soon segue back into a recommendation of his own Imperial Person. In his daily habits, he is as scrupulously clean as he ever was, keeping his living quarters neat spotless, which is an endless battle against dust and soot in Breakbeak city. He calls it "A noble war against dirt and degradation." His manners are good, if somewhat in the military manner, and he treats his own secondhand regalia with all the respect due to his old dress uniform in the marines. His routine will vary from day to day, but he gets out quite a bit more than he used to, parading himself in finery around his "domains," which are pretty much any business that won't bar themselves to harmless lunatic. He also "holds court" in the diner below his apartment, talking to any bemused patron who has a few minutes to spare. Oddly enough, he's one of the most enthusiastic patriots that his adopted city has. Emperor or no, he'll work with his own claws on any city improvement project, and propose a dozen more to any who will listen. He's currently working on a grand plan to make Breakbeak city worthy of housing an Emperor, and there are some quite good ideas in there, mixed with more outlandish proposals.
  19. DISCLAIMER: This is the WoE version of an OC I developed for CC. Roleplay Type: WoE Name: Prof. Morianna Razorclaw Gender: Female Age: Elderly Species: Griffon Eye color: Red Character color: Morianna's head is covered in pale gray feathers, her fur is white, and her wings are a dark shade of black. Mane/Tail/Other: A double crest of slate black feathers crowns the griffon's head in the manner of a Harpy Eagle, while her tail is like that of a lion's. Morianna's beak is the same slate black color as her crest. Physique: Prof. Razorclaw is noticeably taller than most griffons, although her body is only of average bulkiness. Despite her advanced age, constant physical activity and Aqueliia's best medical care prevent Morianna's body from going frail. Residence: Talonopolis Occupation: Honorary Professor of Foreign Affairs at the Aquellia Academy, self-appointed representative of the Razorclaw family. Unique Traits: The elderly Razorclaw is rarely seen not wearing her usual attire; a fancy blue coat accompanied by a white cravat. The griffoness also keeps a well-polished wood cane with a silver handle with her at all times, despite the fact that she is in no way infirm. While her look is old-fashioned, Morianna believes such a fashion statement emphasizes the noble majesty and prestigious history of the powerful Razorclaw family. History: A daughter of the proud Razorclaw family of Aquellia, young Morianna enjoyed a life of immense wealth and privilege in Talonopolis. The chick had a sharp mind even at an early age; once her cognitive abilities developed sufficiently, she didn’t take long to figure out that her family was the most politically and militarily powerful of the three dominant families within the griffon nation. Putting her genius level intellect to work, the budding griffoness sought out knowledge concerning every manner of political subject, foreign policy grabbing her interest the most. Morianna’s interests pleased her family very much so, and so they hired the most gifted political scientists in Aquellia they could obtain to be the chick’s tutors. Believing herself superior over everyone else in her age group, Miss Razorclaw only associated with griffons her age as much as she deemed fit to increase her own popularity, and she felt no shame over bullying those she deemed annoying. Despite her lack of friends, Morianna excelled spectacularly in her studies, and the griffoness went on to graduate summa cum laude from the Aquellia Academy’s Foreign Affairs program. And even before earning her degree, the griffoness was already earning work experience in Aquellia’s foreign ministry offices in Talonopolis, learning firsthand the art of promoting her nation’s interests abroad. As the griffoness advanced in age, so did her prominence in the Razorclaw family and publicly in Aquellia. For her devoted service to the public good, Morianna’s alma mater awarded her with a honorary doctorate…and the privilege to lecture at the Academy and address herself as Professor Morianna Razorclaw. The feisty professor also devoted more of her time towards influencing the affairs of her own clan. Through sheer force of will and her insistence to represent her family in all public and private occasions, the elderly Prof. Razorclaw now acts as a de facto matriarch for her kin, although plenty of other Razorclaws may argue otherwise. For the time being however, only Morianna believes that she has what it takes to lead the Razorclaw family to further greatness..... Character Summary: To most people, Prof. Razorclaw is most famous for her incendiary lectures and editorials about political philosophy. At their core, Morianna’s teachings chastise governments who honor foolhardy idealism before sensible pragmaticism, and they all too frequently call out Equestria as a poor model of how to run a kingdom. The professor is more than happy to engage in debates to argue her views… and to break every rule of debating in order to achieve an unquestionably-decisive victory. In her mind, the most articulate and outspoken voice always prevails over the inferior rule-abiding side. Morianna Razorclaw deals with her fellow griffons and other people in a cold, calculated manner. It is not the professor’s policy to provide anyone with any tiny tidbit of warmth and kindness; in nearly all dealings, she acts with anywhere between a strict solemn formality and a seething anger depending on her mood. In every aspect of her life, Morianna must maintain a state of absolute perfection through meticulous organization and the achievement of her goals as planned; when things don’t go her way at all, the griffoness can be provoked into a livid fury. Once the griffoness calms down, she’ll then rationalize unfortunate events as the result of incompetence from other griffons and not from her own errors, thus re-establishing her internal vision of perfection. Having never spent any time towards finding someone to love or befriend, the professor channels her nurturing desires towards her nieces and nephews in her clan. Morianna takes it upon herself to mentor the next generation of Razorclaws towards promising political and military careers. In addition, she’s also more than willing to personally instruct offspring of the two other ruling families of Aquellia; the Goldplumes and the Silverbeaks. Prof. Razorclaw does not want to leave the fate of her beloved republic to chance; by imposing her philosophies upon them, she can rest easy knowing that in time they’ll also become avatars of perfection. When she has time to spare, Morianna pursues the growth of her vast personal collection of priceless art and exotic wildlife. Like other elite-minded people, Prof. Razorclaw views the ownership of such things as an indisputable mark of prestige, and will go through any lengths to acquire more. Unlike most griffons, the professor insists on eating a meat-rich diet; she believes that those who rely on grains for substance betray the true predatory nature of the griffon species. Strangely, Morianna for all her mental acumen despises the game of chess, believing it to be nothing more than a pastime enjoyed by those too weak-willed to ignore inconvenient rules and achieve true genius. One last thing: Morianna always insists on being addressed as “Professor”. Failure to do so will result in a fierce chastisement.
  20. Name: Prof. Residence: Talonopolis Occupation: Special Defense "Advisor" for the Aquellian government (translation: head of the Agency of Strategic Intelligence), Honorary Professor of Foreign Affairs at the Aquellia Academy, self-appointed representative of the Razorclaw family. Prof. Razorclaw is no fighter by any stretch, but as a griffoness knowing how dangerous her occupation can be, she has a couple surprises in store for would-be attackers. Concealed in her coat is an ornate dagger with a jeweled hilt, and her deafening roar is not too shabby either. But perhaps her most ingenious tool of self-defense is her cane, which in actuality is a hidden single-shot rifle. Yet high intelligence was not the only thing manifesting in young Morianna Razorclaw. A peculiar narcissistic mind also brewed; one that told her of Aquellia’s destiny in obtaining nigh-unchallengeable global supremacy, with her taking a leading role in this Aquellian-dominant world order. As far as Morianna was concerned, the overarching lesson she learned from her teachings was to never let pitiful concepts like empathy, honesty, and idealism get in the way of establishing a new Pax Aquellia throughout all four corners of the globe. For her, the only proper way of governance was through ruthless pragmatism and asserting authority over others. Morianna Razorclaw’s aspirations and cynical worldview did not escape notice, for she shortly found work within Aquellia’s clandestine intelligence services. Because of her superior abilities in establishing the right connections, exerting her dominant personality, and achieving desired results without risking exposure, Ms. Razorclaw’s rise through the ranks seemingly could not be forestalled. By the time she entered the twilight of her middle-age, the griffoness was in control of most of the Aquellian intelligence community and promptly used her influence to further her Pax Aquellia using any means necessary: by recruiting double agents to serve Aquellian interests, authorizing extrajudicial harassment of any perceived enemies of the state, and directing criminal activities abroad to fund covert operations (which run the gauntlet from counterfeiting and loansharking to extortion and high-profile heists). Given the sort of control Morianna currently enjoys, she believes herself so important in the grand scheme of things that she feels no compulsion for higher office… and mundane responsibilities the griffoness desires not to be burdened with. This disdain for rules partially explains why Prof. Razorclaw thrives so well in the world of espionage. With assistance from her genius level intellect and meticulous eye to detail, Morianna when provided with enough information can accurately predict for herself the behavior, capabilities, and intentions of a person or group. This ensures that whatever ingenious and immoral plans the professor devises in the advancement of Aquellian interests tends to succeed. Should she be given instructions not to do something, Morianna will see fit to secretly disobey her directives anyway, confident that a griffon of her extremely high stature can’t easily be removed from her post… and because she thinks nobody else is worthy to succeed her.
  21. This character was originally an NPC antagonist in a WoE thread, but I liked my design for her and have wanted to app her as her own character for a while. She's clearly not suitable to being her own player character in WoE, but now there's Canterlot Chronicles... so... Name: Brenda Razorclaw Gender: female Age: adult Species: Griffon Eye colour: yellow-green Character colour: Her front feathers are pure white with bright blue tips on the crest, her fur is golden brown and her wings are a very dark brown. Mane/Tail/Other: Her crest has a small fringe like tuft in the front and a very high, upward swept tuft of thick feathers in the back. Her tail is a long lion's tail; the end has been dyed the same blue as the ends of her crest. Physique: Brenda is somewhat taller and larger than other female griffons, though not incredibly so. She has a strong, athletic build. A noticeable scar shows through her feathers on the left side of her face, just underneath her eye. Residence: A private villa on the outskirts of Talonopolis Occupation: Major in the Aquellia Marines. Private collector dealing in weapons, armor and a variety of relics. Cutie Mark: N/A Unique Traits: Brenda is a member of the Razorclaw family, the most prestigious of Aquellia's leading families, and as such has considerable wealth and prestige to her name, as well as connections. She is also a formidable intellect and, being a highly trained member of the Aquellian Marines, is also adept in combat. She is rarely seen not adorned in Rockwington made armor, generally either crimson or gold in color. She is skilled in wielding a variety of weaponry, but is most often equipped with a sinister looking long spear and a short sword for closer combat. History: Born a member of the illustrious Razorclaw family, niece to the family's current head, Brenda had from very early on a luxurious life in Talonopolis. From the beginning, however, she was a rougher sort of child then most of the children of the three families. She had a tendency to pick fights and constantly rebel and struggled to make friends very easily as a result. The family worried over her tendency to go off and do her own thing, and how it would frequently mean her running off into the city on her own, but the young Brenda had a desire to find her own way in the world that would not be stopped. Eventually, this lead the young griffoness to run away from home all the way to Rockwington. Taking on an assumed identity as a wayward orphan, she convinced a local master blacksmith by the name of Clive Piniongale to to take her on as an apprentice. It was here, marveling at the results of the smith's toils that Brenda found a love for traditionally forged weapons and armor that would serve to inspire her and give her a set focus for the future. It was also in this time, that Brenda successfully found a friend in the smith's daughter Ava. She felt like she had found a place that suited her there, but there was no evading the powerful Razorclaw clan forever; after just a few short but sweet months in Rockwington, Brenda was pulled back to Talonopolis by her family. The young griffon had a better understanding of what she wanted to do with herself now, and as such was better behaved. Smithing weapons was not a job for a Razorclaw, but by following the path of an officer in the Aquelian Marines she would get her chance at least to make use of those fine armaments. The young griffon started to train both her body and mind toward excellence. In the process, her standing within the family greatly increased and griffons began to flock to her wanting to be in her social circle. Excelling at her studies and training, as she was becoming an adult, she succeeded in becoming an officer. Brenda's military career moved fairly quickly in its early stages. She built a sterling reputation as a leader, and moved quite steadily up the ranks. Capturing the hearts of many in the public with her take charge attitude and the distinctive nonstandard arms and armor she favored, she was dubbed the Razorclaws' "Battle Princess", a title she seemed to eagerly welcome. Throughout her career, Brenda built up an impressive private collection of armor and weaponry. Though starting with standard pieces from throughout the world, she eventually started to set her sights on extremely rare pieces. In time, acquiring the perfect items for her collection became increasingly important to her. She began to abuse her status, name and rank to use military resources for entirely her own ends, setting marines in her command off on expeditions to seek out relics. Unrelenting and quick to employ extreme punishments with little provocation if it benefitted her, she soon fell out of favor with many in the Marines and within the three families, though her overall popularity and her being a Razorclaw made the proposition of dealing with her a difficult one. As years passed and Brenda became only an increasingly loose cannon, she found only more enemies, some of which were willing to go to extreme methods to remove her from the pictures. Assassins were hired to silence her, but none could get the drop on the cunning and capable griffoness. Already having to deal with thieves and rival collectors, following theses attempts, Brenda became more withdrawn and less trusting. She had a private villa built for her on the outskirts of Talonopolis and soon had it outfitted with all sorts of vicious mechanical traps. She remained undeterred in her pursuits, the revelation that she had more enemies watching her only resulting in her becoming more watchful of those around her. Her enemies would try again, though to get in close to her in her increasingly paranoid state, they opted to hire someone she would be willing to let her guard down around. Brenda's old friend Ava was sought out and set on her. The ploy seemed ready to work at first, but Brenda succeeded at making her former friend flinch at the critical moment, the bullet fired missing the target and just slicing into her left cheek, leaving a noticeable scar. Feeling deeply betrayed, whatever trust she might have still had in others just crumbled further. Brenda, however, even after this blow, has proven herself to be a griffon who does not lie down when wounded. Character Summary: Brenda is cunning and intelligent as well as exceedingly proud. She's a charismatic speaker who carries herself with a certain grace and elegance under a public or social eye. She's a very strong willed individual who acts with boldness and flair, equally capable of being inspiring and intimidating. Because of this, she excels at leading others and in winning others to her side. She can also be described as exceedingly self concerned. She has a selfish personality, and when there is something she wants she will go to any means necessary to acquire it. It's all to easy for her to lose sight of the concerns of others when she has her eyes set on something, and she can get quite temperamental when she doesn't get her way. When she gets worked up or into the moment, she can become quite cruel and vicious, especially at the first sign of defiance. She has a love of arms and armor and is especially proud of her large collection. She has a distaste for more modern weaponry like firearms, favoring to use and collect bladed weapons and classic fare. Her strongest fondness is for Aquellian made, Rockwington masterworks, though anything well made or rare is worthy of her. In addition to weaponry, Brenda has a fondness for classical music and literature, hearty meat dishes and hunting. She fears losing anything, as she doesn't know how to cope with it. Brenda is very preoccupied with the with the idea of power. She respects those with it and views those without it as not worth her time. She sees the majority of poynkind as weak, and as such does not have a very favorable of them as a whole. In general, respect is something that is very hard won with her, though those she does respect she will be tempted to stand by regardless of what they think of her. Those she does not respect are more likely to be mistreated by her. Due to how attached she gets to her things, how she fears losing anything and the number of attempts that have been made against her, Brenda can be rather paranoid when she's not occupied with something. Her villa is outfitted with brutal traps to eliminate intruders. She is quick to persecute and refuses to trust others completely. As such, while she has no problems mingling at social functions, she has few she would consider as friends. She prefers quiet moments spent to herself. First time writing a purely CC app; hope I'm not pushing it too far
  22. Alistair Goldmane It’s not the takedown, it’s the thrill of the hunt! NOTE: Character has been modified from WOE design. Military history is more detailed and kit list includes firearms. Name: Master Gunnery Sergeant Alistair Goldmane, Aquellian Republic Marines (ret.). Also answers to “Goldy,” “Gunny,” or “Master Guns.” Sex: Male Age: Adult Species: Griffon Big cat color scheme: White tiger Raptor color scheme: Harpy eagle Eye Color: Green Physique: toned, but not massive. Built more for endurance than raw strength. Residence: Born in an unnamed village downriver from Talonopolis. Occupation: Mercenary and wilderness guide. Formerly private security contractor and before that an Aquellian Marine. Unique Traits Alistair’s military service record includes two tours to Indrek, an Aquellian protectorate with a severe pirate problem. Alistair spent 3 years there battling organized crime, seizing contraband, recovering stolen assets, and capturing pirates. His home unit was a company from the 13th Regiment, otherwise known as “The Bloody Thirteenth” for its connotation as an unlucky number. As a result, Alistair has extensive training with all the manner of infantry weapons. Rifles, shotguns, bows, lances, pistols, swords, and knives are all considered tools of the trade and an integral part of his repertoire. The 13th was known for producing the best scouts and pathfinders the Marines had to offer and Alistair was no exception. Fieldcraft training meshed well with the hunting and tracking experience from his youth. Alistair retains a keen eye for detail and knowledge of military and pirate operational doctrine and tactics. His already prodigious marksmanship skills are kept honed by regular practice runs in the wilderness. Alistair also has a keen sense for the natural world. His combination of years spent in the wilderness coupled with scout sniper training and his expertise in hunting and tracking blend together to give him uncanny awareness of his surroundings. He is well known for his danger sense and ability to track quarry through all weather conditions. Character History The Goldmanes are a large clan living in the canyons of Aquellia. Though the clan has members throughout the country, the vast majority of them live near Talonopolis. The families run the gamut from factory workers to hunters to schoolteachers to Aquellian Marines. Alistair was born into a rural family outside the great city and thus learned from an early age to be independent, self-sufficient, and keenly observant of the land. Alistair grew up in the Raptorclaw's alluvial plain. His family hunted, fished, and farmed the land for sustenance while his father and brothers worked in the Talonopolis factories. When he came of age, Alistair was encouraged to venture beyond the canyon confines on his fledgling pilgrimage. While some Goldmanes elected to venture out into the world on their own, Alistair was proud to count himself among those who enlisted in the marines. He was assigned to an airship that traveled overseas, giving him the taste of adventure he’d always wanted. After years of service, Alistair was honorably discharged with the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. Upon his return, Alistair found himself burdened with ennui. All that could be done in his provincial life at home could not compare to the things he had seen and done on board ship across the sea. One day, while perusing additional employment opportunities in Talonopolis, Alistair discovered a flier requesting experienced former military griffons and ponies to staff a security company that guarded cargo running between Talonopolis and Stalliongrad. In his travels, Alistair had heard much about the city in the north. While he couldn’t care less about its industrial districts and shining spires, the unspoiled wilderness surrounding the city proper tempted him. Thus, with only a few words for his family, Alistair was off again, this time to Stalliongrad! When he arrived he was amazed by the city's sheer size, diversity, and opportunity! It was even better than the recruiters had said! The company, a subsidiary of Kalinka Shipping, quickly assigned Alistair to the work pool where he was soon assigned to the airship Artorius under Captain Sturmovik. Though the good captain came off stern and uncompromising, the marine and the mariner soon warmed up to each other and became fast friends. Though his service with Sturmovik was enlightening, he soon found that his wanderlust was insatiable. Over a drink with the captain, the marine finally handed in his resignation. Though the two are now parted, they still keep in touch, holding to the promise that each would be willing to fly to the other’s aid in his time of need. Alistair’s new journey took him to many places and taught him many things. His hunting and tracking skills proved invaluable in allowing him to sustain himself on the road and soon caught the eye of those who needed his expertise. Alistair found that he could just as easily apply his ability to take game to tracking sentient creatures, especially those who did not want to be found like criminals and other malcontents. Traveling across Equestria, Alistair made a minor name for himself as a skilled tracker, bodyguard, bounty hunter, and guide; the ideal mercenary. This is where we find him today. Character Summary Alistair has a special affinity for the great outdoors and a wide array of survival skills to go with it. In the wilderness, Alistair can always be counted upon to be able to start fires, set up camps, render them safe, and identify safe and unsafe food and water sources. Between jobs, he enjoys pub games like cards and billiards. Alistair has a strong dislike of the inner city. He very much prefers natural surroundings to the forests of glass, steel, and dead wood that comprise the larger cities in the world. The stuffiness of social functions and the need to be in suits or formal wear to even get in is a severe turnoff to a griffon who spent most of his career in ghillie suits or flight jackets. Despite his profession, Alistair is neither violent cutthroat nor dishonest sellsword. In all of his jobs he makes it very clear that he is guide and protector first and marksman or swordsman second. The griffon mercenary is adventurous, gregarious, and always looking for something new to do. He loves the feel of the wind through his feathers and the thrill of taking game. Because of his hunting and mercenary background he is adept at the use of lethal hardware, though he has developed a reputation for being able to take his prey alive. Age has mellowed Alistair out but not taken the vitality from him. Pieces of Kit Alistair mixes and matches his kit according to field conditions and job requirements. A small selection of his personal arsenal: Argent-Kestrelson Mk. 4-S marksman's rifle (“Gungnir”): Standard-issue bolt-action Aquellian marine infantry rifle hand-selected for accuracy. The “S” variant is fitted with a 4x telescopic sight with stadiametric markings for long-distance shooting. Razorclaw Mk. 3 revolver (“Tyrfing”): Standard-issue Aquellian officer’s sidearm. Alistair’s piece is features customized mahogany grips and an enlarged 7-shot cylinder. The oversized .454 Razorclaw chambers can also accommodate small-bore shotshells. Gauntlet: Specialized armored gauntlet derived from Aquellian heavy armor kits. The steel plating in the general issue armor has been replaced with Pyrium, a lightweight but strong exotic alloy. Alistair has further modified his gauntlet with the ability to launch bolos or blades via spring-loaded cartridges concealed in the wrist. Karambit: A short knife with a curved blade derived from a harvesting sickle. Acquired from the Indrek campaign overseas. This particular piece features a full-tang blade with mahogany grip plates and Indrekan traditional carvings. Portrait
  23. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Name: Thomi, alias Facette. Sex: Female Age: Young Adult Species: Griffon Eye colour: A stark gold. Coat: A dusky chocolate brown bottom half, with a lighter brown plumage around her face. Mane/Tail: Her dull white crown feathers are fairly short and styled into choppy bangs and ends. Her tail is typical, though the tuft of hair at the end is the same white her mane is. Physique: She's the usual half-eagle half-lion griffon size, equal height to a pony of similar gender and build but slightly larger and bulkier in body. She's strong and lean in her musculature, sculpted by years of hard physical labor. Residence: Currently lives in Manehattan. Occupation: Mechanist and drummer. History: Thomi was the smart one in her litter of peers in Talonpolis, the one who would always be tinkering around with things though she was no slouch when it came to horsing around. She was busy and active even as a child, always flying around from her own crude little inventions to sports and roughhousing with her friends, and she was usually looked up to by her peers as the 'cool' one, as her personality was quite solidly developed from a young age into what it is now, minus a few quirks and odd ends. Due to this fairly early maturity she was very quickly assured of her path in life being machine construction. She spent her teenage years in between schooling and apprenticeships with various griffons, becoming strong of body on top of being strong in mind as she was called on to do apprentice work like hauling around crates of spare parts and various other bits of hard work. She maintained her easy personality and open mind throughout, and was thus intrigued by the idea one of her final griffon employers gave her of traveling to Equestria and offering her now well developed mechanical services there. She had developed in the interim into an excellent technician, capable of working with all manner of basic machines like pulleys and windmills. In addition she also continued to casually tinker around, fascinated by the idea of automatons that could make daily chores easier. After she was out of school, she moved into Equestria and began to seek out employment. For a few years she worked in the industrial hub of Stalliongrad, where her services were well in demand. She became fairly well known among a generation of business owners in that city, for she was a reliable hard worker who was also easy to get along with. But she was a griffon, and eventually she determined that a change of location would be good for her health, as the cold and her did not agree very well. She moved out south, worked odd jobs in frontier cities for a while. It was here, during a stopover in Appaloosa where she would meet the mare who would change her up-to then fairly simple life forever. Thomi had never seen a crystal pony before, so she was wont to strike up conversation with a certain Blank Stone. She learned of the mare's great artistry, and as much as she inspired the mare she was also duly impressed and a little inspired herself. Some of her friends in both Aquellia and Stalliongrad had been musicians, but she had lived a fairly simple life, and before hadn't really considered the idea of trying out a new career. Blank Stone needed her, wanted her; and Thomi felt the same in response. So the two struck up a partnership. Thomi would now be 'Facette', her partner's fellow in experimental music. Now the duo travel Equestria while experimenting sonically, and while they do not always get along, they are both smart and inventive and as a result have great potential. Character Summary: Facette is cool incarnate, a nice and polite griffon who is almost impossible to anger or rub the wrong way. She's very relaxed in demeanor, it is difficult to find her in a hurry for any reason even if she realistically should be worrying about the time. This can be both a good and bad thing, while it's of course nice to always be the calm and collected one sometimes she can be too lax and not give events the importance they deserve. She's quite cheeky, and with her intelligence wit and humor are not far from her grasp at any given moment. Facette prides herself on maintaining an open mind, using her natural intellect to quickly learn things that friends introduce to her. She as a result has a variety of odd hobbies, she's a good dancer and drummer and she has an ear for music, not genius level by any means but certainly passable. She's not particularly stubborn, and sometimes she can be a bit of a doormat as she accepts things she should be rejecting simply because it's too easy for her to say yes. She's not dumb though, she'll normally be at the very least reluctant when roped into something she's not sure about being a good idea. Facette can also come off as a bit cold sometimes, because of her cool demeanor she doesn't often get mad or unhappy on a friend's behalf. However she's not by any means a bad friend, and she'll be a shoulder to cry on, though not really the best. She's just awkward overall when it comes to dealing with difficult times.
  24. Lev Nobleheart Never forget where you came from. If you ever have to go back, it's better to have friends there than enemies. RP Type: World of Equestria Name: Lev Nobleheart Sex: Male Age: Adult Species: Griffon Eyes: Deep royal purple. Cat half: Panther. Very dark purple coat, appears black under most light. Bird half: Secretary bird. White feathers, red “mask” around his eyes, prominent royal purple crest feathers. Physique: Tall, broad-shouldered, and gruff-looking, much like his bird-half would suggest. Residence: Stalliongrad. Occupation: CEO and owner of Kalinka Shipping Corporation Character History Lev Nobleheart comes from a family of griffons native to the Stalliongrad area. Their origins were humble, beginning as small time metalsmiths for local farmers in need of tools. Through the generations, however, the Nobleheart family worked their way up the social and economic ladder. The smithy became a machine shop, which later became a factory. By the time of Xenia Nobleheart, Lev’s grandmother, the family had outgrown their manufacturing roots and moved on to other pursuits, namely business and finance. Xenia’s daughter Oksana (Lev’s mother) was the first in the family to head the newly established Nobleheart Investments. Lev grew up under the careful tutelage of Oksana and when he was old enough was given the best education that money could buy. A young Lev studied in Stalliongrad, Talonopolis, and Canterlot, learning business, finance, and economic theory. After graduating from university, Lev worked for a time under his mother at the company, but soon realized that it was not what he was looking for. As wonderful of a mother and businessgriffon that Oksana was, Lev knew that he would never be able to succeed while remaining in his mother’s shadow. The younger Nobleheart willingly gave up assured financial security and a guaranteed future and struck out on his own. He went out hunting in Stalliongrad, using his impressive education credentials and accrued allowances to purchase substantial stock in a then little known trading company, Kalinka Shipping. Within a few years, the young entrepreneur had risen through the company ranks and purchased Kalinka for his own use. With innovative business practices and a bit of luck, Lev turned an obscure delivery company into a shipping powerhouse in Stalliongrad. Kalinka now runs its own fleet of cargo airships, carrying a substantial portion of all freight between Stalliongrad and Talonopolis. As a result, Lev has a large amount of pull in the upper echelons of both Equestrian and Aquellian social and business circles. There are rumors that Lev might try for political office in the near future, but they so far remain unsubstantiated. Character Summary Though he is well-educated and very well-off financially, Lev remembers his family's humble roots and refuses to let his wealth go to his head. His family’s work ethic and compassion for those less fortunate are firmly ingrained in Lev’s mind. He keeps little property, maintaining only a middling-sized house in the Reya District, where he lives alone, commuting to Kalinka’s offices in Ostrov District every day. That said, he keeps himself very well-groomed and well-dressed as befitting of a griffon of his social standing. Lev has attire for every occasion from work to nights out to hikes in the highland district. The personal income that would have gone to upkeeping an extravagant estate is instead poured into foundations to fund scholarships and finance small business startups, Lev’s personal efforts to “give back” to those who helped his family get to where it is. Lev’s upbringing by the ascended working-class Noblehearts taught him that money never came easily and that hard work and education were the keys to success. Before his departure, his mother left him with one more bit of advice: compassion and honesty were the best long-term investments he could make. As a result, Lev is kind and welcoming while out of the office and a magnanimous host whenever he discusses business with potential partners; that said, he makes it very clear that there is a separation between personal and professional lives. Just because he deals business with somepony does not automatically make them best friends. Because of his investment in his company (in time and effort as well as money), Lev can be a bit of a workaholic, pushing himself to get things done ahead of schedule and maintain his competitive advantage. He can also be self-sacrificial to a fault, willing to commit time and resources to projects on his own, especially those having to do with philanthropy.
  25. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Mane RP Name: Derecho Sex: Male Age: Adult Species: Griffon Eye colour: Ice blue Coat: Dark burnished gold, fading to a cream white underbelly Mane/Tail: Charcoal grey feathers with black tips Physique: Derecho is a lean mean flying machine. His slender frame is deceptively strong, and his wings are the streamlined wings of a falcon, not the broad wings of an eagle. Residence: Cloudsdale Occupation: Flight Instructor Cutie Mark: None, but he does have black rosettes splashed across each flank History: He was hatched to loving parents who live in the learning district of Stalliongrad, Chenya. His father is a librarian, and his mother worked in a department store over in the merchant district while he was still a fledgeling. Derecho has an older brother, Lyosha, who is a skilled painter and has a studio in the artisan district of Stalliongrad. Growing up in a middle class family, he didn't always get the fancy toys or expensive trips that some of his schoolmates had, but he never lacked for the necessities of life. He excelled in school, and often spent his afternoons in the library where his father worked, beak buried in a book. His true passion, though, was flight. His body was built for speed, and he tested it every chance he got. He often participated in races with the other griffon fledgelings and pegasi colts in school. They competed in speed and dexterity, creating ever more complex obstacle courses for themselves. While he did not have the stamina of his broader winged fellows, he more than made up for it with agility and sheer speed. Character Summary: Based on his skills in creating and competing in obstacle courses, Derecho decided to become a flight instructor. He enrolled in as many flight courses and camps as he could afford, to study the techniques of other teachers. As soon as he got his certification, he took up permanent residence in Cloudsdale, and started teaching the pegasi foals there the tricks of flight mastery. He has a reputation for being tough, but fair, and many parents feel confident in sending their offspring to learn from him. He's not the sort to belittle or berate his students, preferring to build their confidence with positive reinforcement. However, if any of his students are slacking off, he will challenge them to bring up their performance. Derecho is a friendly sort of guy. He is always more than happy to lend a helping claw when he can. He is not a pushover, though, and won't accept any less than 100% from anyone works with. He has earned the respect of many of his students and their parents this way. In his off hours, Derecho still likes to curl up with a good book. He's even written a few himself. Mainly flight training manuals, but he has written a few Daring Do fan-fics, as well. He doesn't share those with anyone, though, out of embarrassment and fear of damaging his reputation. He also writes letters often, keeping up correspondence with several of his former students who have gone on to join the REA. He loves to hear about their exploits and adventures in the military outposts. He visits his family in Stalliongrad as often as he can, and sometimes poses for paintings in his brother Lyosha's studio. He has one hanging on his living room wall, of himself in full armor and a classic military pose. That, and the letters from his former students, is as close to military life as he has ever gotten, and he is fine with that. Since he was raised in a city founded by ponies, and currently lives in a pegasus city, sometimes Derecho is asked if he misses his own kind. To be honest, he's never really thought about it that way. Growing up, most of his friends and classmates were ponies. The majority of his students are also ponies, although many griffon parents prefer to send their fledgelings to a griffon for flight instruction. To him, ponies are just people, not much different from himself. Sure, they eat funny food sometimes, and don't appreciate the finer things like swallowing a fish whole while it squirms down your gullet. But pony-folk are just folk to him. Some ponies can find him a bit intimidating, and he will take advantage of that with new students. Eventually though, they learn that he is not a fearsome predator, and they get along just fine.
