Applejack walked into the dining room, where Granny Smith and her little sis Apple Bloom were waiting for her. Applejack had called a meeting. "Alright y'all. Here's the problem. We got a heapin' pile of extra apples sitting in the barn and they are all surplus apples from last week that didn't sell. That big party Pinkie threw for Twilight at Sugarcube Corner in celebration of Twilight's second year living in Ponyville filled so many ponies with cakes and cookies that they musta notta needed to buy their usual amount of Sweet Apple Acres apples. And it resulted in us having all these apples that wont sell and will spoil soon if we don't get them moved on outta here." Applejack was frustrated. She hated it when the farm's business hit bumps in the road. It was a lot of hard physical labor just to get the farm running at productive levels of profit, even harder when sales figures became affected by the weather, theft, wild animals, and pinkie's parties. Applejack slammed her hoof on the table. "So what are we gonna do? We gotta get these apples sellin' without just givin' them away fer free. Any ideas?" Applejack paused and looked at her grandmother and sister, both of them pretty quiet and reserved, at least for ten seconds. "Anything?"

The rooster crows at the first light. As the sun peeks over the horizon, settled fog is exposed in the valleys of the apple orchard giving it the nonverbal command to quickly disperse. Conditions were perfect. It was a relatively beautiful day with a chilly breeze to remind all living creatures of the coming holiday seasons, the first of which was to be a Ponyville tradition known by ponies far and wide. It was cider season at Sweet Apple Acres! Along the road back to Ponyville from the farm were rows and rows of tents where ponies camped last night in an attempt to try and beat the crowds. The famous cider had created an insane demand for its taste, but the Apple family way of doing things would only yield so much cider for so many ponies to drink. Applejack would always assure everypony that there would be enough cider for all as long as ponies were willing to not take shortcuts and wait for the process of making the best cider in Equestria. And even though she would always be faced with criticism of short supply, she would be right all along and in time everyone would eventually go home happy and Applejack would be able to take a few barrels of cider for her family and herself for the next few weeks. The season wouldn't officially start for another hour or so, but even so several ponies were getting restless in their cooperative lines waiting behind the great cider counter set up at where the farm paths meet the road. The counter was adorned with all the spigots and tools needed to uncork new barrels and squeeze the apple nectar into wooden tankards, which were clean ready for their first pour. Applejack allowed ponies to bring their own vessels for the cider, but if not, she had a rotation of clean mugs ready for every customer that needed them. The sign above told everything everycreature probably already knew. 'Two bits for a cup, limit one per pony per day.' "Apple Bloom, could you bring over that spare pump, I think this one might quit on us at some point." Applejack yelled lovingly to her little sister as the orange mare looked over her counter for problems to minimize. To Applejack this was like any other day, it just had the higher volume of customers and slightly more tourism. Ever since the debacle from Flim and Flam trying to put the farm out of business, a healthy coating of sympathy and appreciation covered the cider season operation, with some ponies offering their help on the back end to make more cider and clean equipment involved in the process. Of course, Applejack was more than willing to pay a fair wage to the ones who earned it. She stepped out onto the road and looked down it, seeing the long line of ponies getting excited for their cider breakfast. The low sun reflected off the luster of the Ponyville road. "Howdy! How ya'll doing this morning? You guys ready for cider season to start?" Cider season wouldn't start for several minutes, but it was still nice to have a little moment to make small talk with the colorful ponies of Ponyville to help them manage their expectations and to gauge how impatient the crowd might become this year.

Granola Gracie walked up to the farmhouse of Sweet Apple Acres. The sun had just set and the remaining ambient skylight was reflecting off the wet garbage along the orchard path from the week's long cider festivities. It had been a couple days since the cider rush had died down, but Granola figured the apples were prioritizing inventory before they clean up the farm. Applejack always ran a tight orchard. She visited the farm this evening in order to finally pitch to her tree-loving neighbor a new apple seed. Granola was a botanist. She loved caring for plants and flowers but also enjoyed investigating new species of fauna and even resurrecting lost plants from the ages. Recently she happened upon a discovery that would lead her down the path of possibly inventing a new species of apple. And she couldn't think of another pony that would be more helpful on this task. The brown earth pony gallantly and with a smile, knocked on the door to the farmhouse. Hopefully, Applejack was not too tired to meet with her.

Roads, Tempest has seen plenty of them in her life and walked far too many alone in her youth. Yet here she was walking a road she took many years ago to a town she last saw as a runaway in passing. She did not remember ponyville with much clarity do to how long it has been and her age at the time but what few things she did remember were hardly the same. The town has changed a lot in that time… Some more tall and ugly than others but Twilight's dreadful taste in homes was not her place to judge… But if she lived here she may have to plant a tree or two to cover that eyesore up. But regardless of that atrocity she needed to rest. Maybe not in the form of laying around but more mentally. Being alone left her… Alone with her thoughts and after a few days of that she concluded that was NOT a good idea for her at the moment with the turmoil raging inside of her. How will others feel if they knew the truth? Yes in many ways she was lied to and lead astray… But in other ways she did much of it willingly and even enjoyed it. Reflecting on this was troubling as her time alone gave her plenty of time to dig deep into herself and what she was learning was only making it more… unpleasant. She enjoyed, no, she loved the power she had. With a sigh she pushed her dark thoughts away as best she can and looked to the town she was passing… around. She did not feel ready to just walk in to it, it was far too close to Canterlot. They all must have known what she did and will ask to many things she does not wish to be asked about yet as deep down she did not know how to answer them. Guiding her eyes to the countryside she saw the clear layout of a farm. She remembered that farm, she stole apples from it way back when… Apples… That one with the hat, Applejack was it? She said something about living in ponyville. Was this her farm? Maybe it can giver her the shelter she needed and offer some work as well. Farmers were ever in need of an extra pair of hooves after all and many were not tro shy to take on passing ponies for short bost to pony power. So maybe this Applejack will help. She was a friend of Twilights and seeing as Twilight insisted that she and her were friends… Well, friend of a friend helps a friend? That was how that saying worked… maybe. Whatever it may be She made her way to the farm with the midday sun glittering on the black steel of her armor and undersuit. She has… been hesitant to remove it. She can’t explain why but she felt very vulnerable for now and it supplied her some feeling of familiarity, comfort… Pride. Approaching the gate that marking the entryway to the farm she stopped and looked over the home and farmland before her… Forgotten memories glimmer before her like broken glass on the floor. Hiding, rain, stealing an apple to eat before pushing on. She flicked her ears and closed her eyes as remembered her life as a filly. So young and alone, what if she just… stayed here? Maybe they’d have adopted her? It was pointless to think about yet it lasted longer than she wanted it to. With a frustrated snort of anger she opens her eyes and walked past the gate and into the farm itself. “HELLO!? Eanypony around!?” She yelled out, hoping they were not busy and she was not being to bothersome.

It had almost been a year, already. Zap was growing up so fast. It wouldn't be too long before his upbringing becomes the responsibility of other ponies living in Ponyville. In the time he has lived in the world he has learned to walk and begin talking. He even had short episodes in which he could fly before his bone mass kept him from hovering indefinitely. When harvest time came, he learned what apples trees look like and how big they are. He has learned that rosebush thorns cause pain when touched, but he has also learned how soft and warm Granny's quilt can be. He barely remembered what it was like when there was snow still on the ground until the white stuff returned, but he is well acquainted with the discomfort from being outside for too long when it is really hot. Seasons for Zap Apple were not a rhythm. To him they were just things that happened with no understanding of the concept. He remembers a strange evening called Nightmare Night, what a fun adventure that was, but he was not aware it will come again. He has experienced everything a year can offer, but he has only experienced them once. And he could not be more entertained. He was busy playing with his toys in the living room at Sweet Apple Acres. He could hear commotion going on in the kitchen, hearing his mother's voice, and Nan-nan's voice too. Big Mac was probably outside doing work, he could think, and Apple Bloom wasn't usually around until later in the day, because of something called school, but her voice could be heard anyway. It seemed like a special day, but he was not sure why. And before he could think about it further, he just had a great idea on how he can further play with his toys. For the past few days he had been trying to beat his record for how high he could stack blocks. His toy blocks, which had symbols written on them, some letters some animals, were mostly useful for stacking. A practical use need not be necessary, Zap had fun trying to stack them as high as he could. In previous attempts he had stood on chairs to place blocks higher. Another time, he stood atop Uncle Big Mac in order to reach the top of his towers of wooden blocks. This time he would try even higher, towards the height of the ceiling. He starting stacking the blocks one by one, humming a song his mother taught him while doing it.

Fixing the Zephyr was going to be a ... difficult experience: But for the sake of her benefactor's pride (and maybe her own), she couldn't bring it back in shambles. Bevel had managed to replace a few of the parts but there was one last component that needed to be replaced. The central focusing crystal. Bevel had been using an artificial crystal in order to make sure the ship had been accumulating the aetheric energy charge needed to bring the ship to Ponyville and back again... however upon "landing" it had been shattered as the zephyr was impaled on the tallest tower of the newest princess's castle and when it was finally removed the ship fell into two pieces at the middle horizontally. During her time in Ponyville, Bevel had been noticing some changes in herself ... and she wasn't sure she liked it. For one thing, she was smiling more often; to most ponies this wasn't that big of a deal and might be seen as a good thing. Bevel gear however had gotten used to her lowered smile quotient since she'd moved away from this blasted country and already the feeling of smiling was only making her remember times when she did it more, which just lead her back (in her memories) to those times that stopped the smiles. Some ponies had been saying her coat, mane and eyes looked less washed out and dreary as they did when she came, and she found her mane was getting... puffier. Even though Bevel was enjoying her time here, she couldn't help but feel somewhere that being in Equestria would only bring her some unnecessary drama that she didn't need right now, or that she'd distract and only prove to hinder someone else's life. It was for the best, In regards to Equestria the only thing she'd really though would be an event that could help her once she got out of here was maybe that consort event held by the same princess whose home she'd "crashed" into. According to the geniuses own (spotty) calculations of the likelihood of Twilight ever speaking, writing, or looking for again -based on past experiences with other intellectuals and factoring how much of a tiny blip she must be on her radar- came out to be a 9999999999999.9 percent likelihood of the two of them simply drifting apart. But those were things left in the past, she needed to focus on the now! Bevel had put various posters over town for a guide in town who was knowledgeable about this "Great Nimbusgait Lake" area, adjacent to Froggybottom swamp and Cloudsdale. Someone strong, dependable, and could likely carry two of the incredibly heavy crystals out of the underground caverns with her, one for the synthesis of the primary component of the transaether focusing crystal and the other just a spare for a worst case scenario. The Mare who applied was somepony by the name of Applejack. Bevel had never heard of her, but then again when Bevel was here she hadn't heard of a new princess being crowned, or even knew about the whole Nightmare moon event. Maybe she was someone important, but right now she was just another pony who had been helping Bevel out without wanting anything in return. And now... here they were; on their way to the trio of lakes on the southern shore with the cloud city of... Cloudsdale looming behind them. The shoreline seemed to almost stretch to eternity from both sides as the two mare's found themselves right in front of the middle lake. Bevel... hadn't been the most talkative of ponies on the trip here so if there was a time to try adn strike up conversation it would likely be now as the inventor had to figure out where the likely location of the cave they needed to find would be... "The map says that the cave these crystals is located in is somewhere on the tract of land that separates lake Cirrus from Lake stratus... and that it is closest to Stratus." She held out the map to Applejack. "Your thoughts, Miss Applejack?"

So here's my first conclusion. Rainbow Dash is neither the fastest runner or fastest flyer. Pinkie Pie was faster than Rainbow Dash in Party of One and Fluttershy was able to catch up to a Rainbow Dash in The Return of Harmony Part 2. Even though Dashie was hauling Rarity and Pinkie tied to her, Fluttershy was able to pull two ponies of her own, Applejack, who is rumored to be dark matter, and Twilight Sparkle plus her balloon. The issue of 'proper motivation' could be thrown around. But I wanna know what you think. Take your time answering, as you will not be able to change your vote. (because I can't figure out how to set it to that)

"Goo!" Zap Apple uttered towards the orange caretaker. "Gu!" He had a thought. It was a thought of joy, unsubscribed by anypony who could decipher pony baby language. It was a feeling of content. Zap had no other means to express himself. Getting the attention of those around him, and smile and making noises, was all he knew to put his stamp on this existence of life. Should he not need the attention of these much bigger ponies, he might not make a noise. Zap grew to this point about a month old. He could easily trot his little legs across the floor, provided his diaper wasn't giving him an uncomfortable rash. At this moment, however, he was sitting in a highchair in the barn house kitchen, awaiting aerial food commands from his mother. Zap hadn't showed much of a mischievous personality. Perhaps he hadn't had a chance to show just how curious he could be. To his comfort, Zap's chair had no buckle, no restraint, no harness. As the feeder turned away for a moment, Zap was able to slip underneath the highchair table, and on to the wooden floor of the barn. He then scurried to the other room, a room he had explored before, but never without the supervision of those much taller than him.

Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Name: Zap Apple Sex: Male Age: Newborn Species: Pegasus Eye colour: Green Coat: Burnt Sienna Mane/Tail: Medium short, straight, layered and slightly messy. Orange with yellow stripe; underdeveloped. Physique: Average small foal Residence: Sweet Apple Acres Occupation: Infant Cutie Mark: None Unique Traits: Overly curious, reactionary and careless. As are most foals, very egocentric History: He was born to mare Applejack. Sire/mare Rainbow Dash. Character Personality and Summary: Fussy. Cries about significant issues. Cries about insignificant issues. Cries about there not being an issue. And poops. Oh, and cries about poop. Though he is only an infant, small clues of his eagerness side are already showing. More than the average foal, he ventures out of his comfort zone, as if on some quest of discover of life's musings. He lacks conviction and will fail to learn easy lessons repeatedly before he understands how ponies should act. Regardless, he is always in good spirits and provided he hasn't bruised his hooves yet, will laugh and giggle unintelligable foal noises to those around him. He is constantly surrounded by family and is very comfortable with all of them. If he meets new ponies he does not recognize he will be curious about who they are but many times will treat them like family all the same. an8OQ18mMq9//Hd5gERLAum1A18D843ycKY//UQ08Vp/C/t//20

Applejack had a long day. Typical of a farm pony, she spend her morning preparing for her afternoon work, fed all the animals on location, did a bit of watering the vegetable crops, and by late afternoon had half of the south field of apple trees pruned. Once she finished that, Angel came hopping up to Applejack with a not in paw. It was Fluttershy asking for help and that she needed to go into the Everfree forest. Applejack saluted to Angel that she would arrive shortly after. Applejack could only think of what the help might involve. Since she was mostly done with her chores, she figured Fluttershy wouldn't need much more than a moments aide and that she would be able to return back to the farm before sundown. After putting tools away, and washing up a little, she trotted out towards Fluttershy's cottage. Applejack knocked on Fluttershy's door. She was here to help Fluttershy with a problem. Which can only mean one thing. Fluttershy was afraid. Applejack was willing to help though, especially since it had something to do with the Everfree Forest, which was something Applejack had grown accustomed to over her years dealing with it neighboring the apple orchard. And anything to do with tree in general, Applejack was always a great reference to turn to. "Fluttershy? It's me, Applejack, your fearless friend," she stated with a chuckle. "You said you needed help with something in the forest?"

Applejack punched the stake into the ground, giving the final stable anchor to one of tents she had put up for camping, here in the middle of Galloping Glade. The glade was a bit ironic for Applejack. A mare who spent her entire life working around trees, would find comfort and serenity in a clearing of anything but trees. Nonetheless, this spot was one of the family's favorite spots to camp out at, a large yard perfect for grazing and surrounded by trees, a rolling hill that wasn't too steep, and a generous-sized pond in the middle of it all for swimming, decorated with the cattails and long grass along the muddy perimeter of the body of water. It was this location that today they would share it with Carrot Fields and his little sister Purple Haze. As the two family's togetherness continued, individual relationships also seemed to push forward. Purple and Apple Bloom seemed to be getting really close as friends, despite Purple already having her cutie mark, Big Macintosh seemed to like to have the company of Carrot, for finally another stallion involved in the Ponyville farming business had some sort of input instead of the red stallion always being alone in a see of mares. And then Applejack. Applejack had several times bonded with Apple Bloom. And her relationship with her brother was always understood sibling rivalry and respect. Today was sure to be of a more cross-family bonding, and Applejack was looking forward to getting to know the pony behind the Fet Loch accent, Carrot Fields. Applejack sorta knew that they gray stallion had some sort of a 'thing' for her. Anytime two ponies with similar interests get together and have supper and sharing sessions, it was bound to happen. Applejack was so glad to have him as a friend, but she also wondering what editions of Carrot's personality Applejack would see today. And in turn, she might just surprise him back, with a new side of Applejack the colt had yet to discover. "Isn't this place great!?" Applejack shouted across the yard as she finalized the setup of the pony's camping supplies. She walked over to an opening in the yard and spotted a bright yellow tulip sprouting boldly out of the unkempt grass. She smelled it, exhaled pleasantly, and the snatched the flower with her mouth and started to chew on it. As she digested the tulip, she walked back towards Carrot, where his sister and him were setting up their tent. Applejack swallowed her snack, and with a petal hanging erroneously on her bottom lip, she invited help. "Ya'll need any help with anything?"

Eeyup.Nothing like a good long walk to another town to organize the thoughts of a complicated red stallion. Or so he would, if it wasn't for sister Applejack walking with him, sharing his thoughts in feeling. The two pony minds resonated together as their common link as siblings aligned their reactions to the nature around them. They did a lot of things in unison without even thinking about it. They predicted the weather the same, they got hungry at the same time, heck they even stepped at the same time. But they were not the same pony. Big Mac's quiet demeanor contrasted with his sister's slang and charming voice. He was resistant to actively seeking advice or companionship, while Applejack was very social, even sporting a coltfriend to lean on and make fun of whenever she felt like. And Big Mac was stubborn, but not nearly as much as his sister, he reckoned. Although if you ask him about it, he wouldn't admit for a moment that he was stubborn himelf! The Apples had a delivery to make to Garden Gait. A secluded part of the woods south of Canterlot. The village always got a regular delivery. I mean, who wouldn't get their fair share of Equestria's finest apples? But this time was special in particular in that the village needed the order rushed for an unknown reason. Maybe they were having a party? Hard to say. Not much was known about the village, and it wasn't really suspected to be the type of place a lot of Pinkie Pie-style parties would originate from. Regardless, Big Mac and Applejack tasked themselves with delivering the order, each with a full cart of apples in their tow. They walked at a leisurely pace, which was good, considering the last time they tried this Applejack made haste on account of her fear of Apple Bloom endangering herself when she was left alone. Big Mac breathed deep. It was always good when the air was crisp and without need for worry.

“Are you sure you'll be okay there? It's going to be six months.” What wasn't fun about spending time in Ponyville? “The Apples are fantastic caretakers, but are you sure they are as understanding of your...needs as the Hamptons?” Without a shred of doubt. “Cousin Applejack is a hero and one of Twilight's advisers. Will she have time for you?” Of course she will! “Well, I suppose you have made your decision, son.” And Valen had known that since they had first brought up the prospect of the international orange tour. He didn't have a shred of desire to spend half a year wasting away advertising oranges, not even for all the bits in the world. He had a goal, a life, and a place he loved to be. Oh, he knew his parents loved him and he loved them back, but he knew as well as they that he wasn't going to be caught dead out there. He wasn't fit for it. Their time amongst the cream of the Manehattan crop had not made them deluded, sickly, or insane. All he would do is moan and complain so they had decided to allow him to stat behind in the care of somepony they trusted. But the Hamptons? Under what mind was sending a foal away from home to some distant, remote mansion, away from friends and a comfortable environment, the proper course of action? A sick one. On the other hoof, under what mind was sending a foal away from home to some distant, remote farm, set up with friends and a comfortable environment, the proper course of action? A great one, so he had argued for him to be sent to Sweet Apple Acres for a long, long time. He had eventually worn them down with his battering ram of logical debate, one of the skills he had been able to harness in the academy that did come in hoofy the majority of the time. Their arguments held little water as far as he was concerned and while he was always polite, Valen was also always outspoken and let them know why he refused their options. The Hamptons? They were a well to do family that was for the most part kind and in no way a terrible place for a colt to land. They lived in a mansion just outside of town with a wonderful view of the city and room aplenty for a colt to find himself. He knew their son well enough and the parents were more or less capable of helping him do everything he needed to do for school while they were gone. Of course, this was all only a true surface reaction. The parents were often away and the son was in some ways cruel and unforgiving, easily capable of emotional cruelty. He had an obsession with Gilded Lilly and had given Valen some looks that seemed inquisitive. There was no doubt that he would put it together and who knows what would happen then, and even if he didn't, Valen knew he couldn't be himself while he was there. What about other Orange farms? No doubt most would be kind and capable and unlike the Apples they had a great deal of mechanization in their farms, so it would be easy. He would get to know his Orange cousins a little bit better. That was a good incentive, and the Oranges would be more than ready to contact his parents if anything came up. Well, in theory. There was a bit of disconnect between the branches of the Orange family and not a little bit of dislike. Those who worked the soil got plenty but not what they considered their share from the members of the family who tended to be administrators and merchants. He would be a symbol of that disconnect, an embodiment of riches and well to do New Manehattan Money off of the backs of the ponies who were now looking out for him. He didn't expect to get mistreated, but it was all so uncomfortable. They had a reservation at a boarding house and for education purposes this was easily the most superior option. In the care of experienced professionals and with a tight schedule, he would be safe and pushed along for academic excellence. All things told, if being the best academy student ever was his priority, this would have been chosen. But it isn't and never was his priority. At the boarding house he wouldn't have an outlet for his creative spirit, he surely couldn't do any shows, and his life would be confined to a series of rules that he would likely find suffocating. There was few things truly appealing about the idea to Valen. It was bad for him emotionally, financially, and friendship wise since communication was somewhat difficult. No, not the boarding house. The answer was easily Sweet Apple Acres. He knew what life was like there- hard work but not necessarily something he couldn’t enjoy somewhat. He knew the ponies there and around Ponyville and had several very dear friends along with incredible relations like Granny Smith and Applejack. The town was laid back and more accepting of ponies who didn't want to press and push every little thing. Rarity and Applejack knew his true self better than most- Rarity approved of it and gave him a career because of it while Applejack was accepting of however he was. Sure, local Ponyville education wasn't as top tier as the Academy, but everything else about it was better. He had made sure that when his parents left Manehattan, he was leaving for Ponyville. It would be for six months, during which Applejack would be his guardian and he would likely attend Ponyville Elementary. Valen was fine. He made sure to pack plenty of books and clothes, lots of those, as well as some kits and supplies for other elements of his work. He had one large box shipped there already and had two large carryons ready to go, these ones of the more immediate requirement. A few outfits for sure, but the bulk was in the stuff he had shipped. More or less what he needed to go on was here with him. The trip there was by coach, and again it was better than last time- the smell was less offensive ad the ride seemed smoother. Maybe this was all just a product of expectations, but everything was turning up better than it had last time. No doubt the same would hold true of his time at SAA. He arrived in Ponyville, exiting the train without issue last time- no head in the back of the seat like last time for this colt! Valen trotted out and took a deep breath- time to face Ponyville's music!

Filly Applejack sporting a brand new cutie mark tattoo. Inkbrand's promised her one in Foals at Heart, and Applejack is raring to be, "a big pony naw!" So a tribal apple tattoo right on the cutie mark area is going to be the way to go. Don't question it. Applejack © Hasbro- 7 comments

Want to try other poses aside from "pretty princess poses prettily". I don't draw ponies sitting down very often - hard for me to get the hind legs correct - but this one looks alright, by my books. Applejack © Hasbro- 8 comments
