1. (Cloudfeather image coming soon...) Cloudfeather yawned as she punched her time card and removed her helmet from its hook. Why had she taken this shift again? Oh yeah. One of her friends was visiting family and asked her to cover for her. The things she did for her friends... She entered the large room where the water harvester operated and took in the sight. The huge, golden cylinder extended from the ceiling all the way through the floor. Pipes protruded at various angles and many levels, through which water was pumped to the labs for treatment before being turned into clouds. A large tank on the side prepared to receive any fish or other creatures that may be unfortunately sucked into the vortex so that they could be safely stored until they could be returned to their watery habitat. Cloudy wasn't as familiar with the harvester as she was with the actual cloud making machines, but she had fixed it enough times that she had a general idea of how it functioned. Plus, Cumulous had made her a checklist of operations for the day, so she was confident she would be able to manage. All that was left to do was wait for the signal to start the initiation sequence. Hovering by a window, she looked out over Mount Aris, one of the homes of the hippogriffs. They had requested some showers to help get their spring crops in gear, and management determined it was easier to just move the city to them than it was to ship boxes of storm clouds out that far. It didn't take long for the red lights around the room to come on, signaling that it was time to start the harvest. Cloudy sighed as she looked out over the seascape. The desalinators would be working extra hard today. She would probably have to fix at least one of them during her own shift. No bother. She yawned and put on her goggles, then took her position at the control panel, clipping the checklist to the dashboard so it would be easily accessible. "Alright, let's get you up and running." The machine gave a deep groan as it powered up, then began to whirr with ever switch she threw and button she pressed. Soon, the water was flowing from the sea, into the harvester, and through the pipes, which shook slightly as they received the flash flood. "Alright, now I just have to monitor the pressure and temperature levels! No big deal! Should be easy!" A few stray fish found their way into the collecting tank, looking disoriented but otherwise ok. They weren't Cloudy's concern, so she didn't pay them much attention. After the harvest, some other pegasi would deposit the tank back in the sea and they would continue with their lives. She watched the pressure meter hover in the green line for several minutes before the monotony of the task began to remind her how tired she was... It wasn't long until she rested her head on the dash and let her eyes slip shut...
2. [ Pony Related Character ] Name: Soarin' Sex: Male Age: Stallion Species: Pegasus Pelt Color: Light blue Mane/Tail Color & Style: Dark blue, windswept Eye Color: Green Cutie Mark: A lightning bolt splitting a storm cloud. Physique: Trim, athletic build Residence: Cloudsdale, but is often 'on the road' Occupation: Wonderbolt Character History: From a young age, Soarin always dreamed of flying hard and fast. When he was just a foal his parents took him to see one of their shows, and his eyes were WIDE open from the opening act to the thrilling conclusion. He grew up enamored with each generation of Wonderbolts, and always asked his parents to take him to their shows when they were in Cloudsdale, making a special point to see every show when their lineup or their repertoire had been expanded. In Junior Speedsters Camp he was always eager to show off, something that cost him more than one race to pegasi slower than him, but something none of the councilors could convince him not to do. Late in his last year of the camp, one of the Wonderbolts in that generation, Thunderwing, handed him a flyer for the Junior Wonderbolt camp that had been recently established. Where the speedster camp focused on fast, the Wonderbolt camp was all about -STYLE-. Soarin had style in spades, and was one of the star pupils in camp. He earned his cutie mark by performing a triple shoot-the loop with Thunderwing in his second year, which he calls his 'Best. Day. Ever.' to this day. When the time came to replace retiring members, Soarin was a natural choice because of his technical ability in the air, even if he was accident prone and downright clumsy with solid ground under his hooves. Character Personality: Soarin' is easy going and rather happy go lucky. He tends not to think things all the way through, but he's as dependable as you could ask for once he's agreed to something. Just don't expect things to go off without a hitch, because he's quite accident prone. He's usually quite ready to chat with complete strangers, fan or no, in part to get to know his fan base but mostly just because he enjoys idle conversation. Which is not to say he doesn't know how or when to be serious. The primary thing holding Soarin back is that he's not terribly inventive, so while he can easily do anything he wants to do in the air, he's not the one to turn to for new stunt ideas, and he tends to forget to eat in the lead up to a show, causing him to have a tremendous appetite afterward. He doesn't usually mind this too much, since it usually allows him to indulge guilt-free in a nice slice of pie. Character Summary: Work hard, play hard, try not to leave too many craters. This is Soarin's philosophy in a nutshell. A consummate entertainer, he's utterly devoted to his fans and to the Wonderbolts, and is one of the higher ranked non-REA 'bolts. He may be accident prone, and sometimes he misses the obvious, but he never lets anything keep him down for long, and is always willing to let bygones be bygones. If he pushed harder, he'd be a living legend, and he kind of lives up to the legend. In short, he's Soarin' of the Wonderbolts, and he will rock. Your. World. (Thanks for the image, Tales!)
3. Prism was pretty exited for a day off! After stretching his muscles he crouched on the soft clouds, wings spread, a cocky smirk on his face, before LEAPING up and zipping off like a flash of light! Weaving and bobbing around the clouds with expertise! Leaving a trail of rainbow behind him as he did so, curling and twisting around the clouds, using the trail and his own body to shape the clouds to his will! After he was all done he landed and crossed his front hooves quite happily, He had made a image of Celestia in the clouds itself, perfectly framing the sun! He grinned and moved a hoof up to fix his mane... "Well ain't she a sight for sore eyes!" Glancing around he realized he was probably by himself and snickered, moving to trot somewhere to get a bite to eat! Maybe he'd find company today? Life was pretty lonely when your only child was the element of Loyalty and thus always busy..

5. It was another brand new day, and the sun was high, and all the birdys sung while the hay bacon fried merrily in it's skillet, Ginger was humming a merry tune to herself as she finished making her breakfast, which was quickly downed in one gulp. After eating she brushed her mane and slapped her hat on, brushed her teeth, and smiled her best smile at the mirror "Yep, yep yep, t'day is gonna be a good day for sure as shootin!" She fluttered her wings and headed down to the cafe part of her shop, perched on a big fluffy cloud near the weather factory! She hummed as the coffee pots started to perk, and she put in some fresh baked goods in the display case, whistling as the windows got open and all the resturant sparkling once she gave it a good cleaning! Yes siree Robert! It was a great day to be alive! Once the first coffee pot of lite brew coffee was finished she poured herself a cup, added just a little cream and sugar, and took a sip, making her teeth brushing..er null and void... she let out a content breath once she had finished her sip, perfect ! Just how she liked it...one thing left to do now! She flew over to the window and flipped the closed sign to open before hunkering down behind the counter and took another content sip of her coffee.
6. Spring has descended onto the land of Equestria, and with spring comes rainfall; lots and lots of rainfall. To make such a large-scale operation possible, the mares and stallions of the Royal Weather Factory in Cloudsdale work tirelessly during the spring months to create the rain storms so coveted by ponykind. It is through the efforts of these pegasi factory workers that crops are sufficiently watered and reservoirs refilled in preparation for summer. Unfortunately this year, a major crisis has rocked the city in the clouds which could jeopardize the upcoming rainy season. Due to a sudden flu plaguing Cloudsdale, more than three-quarters of the Weather Factory’s workforce have been forced to stay at home, at precisely the time when their contributions are needed the most. If there are not enough pegasi to work the factory floor and deliver clouds on time, settlements all over Equestria could very well face crop-wrecking droughts! To forestall this alarming chain of events, the overseers of the Weather Factory have taken the drastic measure of recruiting any winged volunteers that can be found. Heralds and newspaper bulletins serenade Equestria in the hopes that enough pegasi and other creatures able to fly to Cloudsdale can come to help operate the weather factory. It doesn’t matter where these emergency volunteers come from, just as long as the spring rings can indeed proceed on schedule. High in the turbulent skies of Cloudsdale, failure is not an option..... -------------------- Sugar Apple partly wished she could have stayed in sick today... sick like nearly all the other workers today. As a reward for being the sole supervisor not bedridden with the flu, the purple mare had suddenly found herself in a rather unfortunate but necessary position: that of having to orientate all the new volunteers enlisting their services for the Royal Weather Factory in this great hour of need. Sugar was plenty used to overseeing a manageable group of employees in the Vaporization Department, but having to introduce so many volunteers to how to operate the Weather Factory was a different matter entirely. The good news though was that Sugar Apple had the willpower of the bravest soldier; hence she soon felt the confidence to perform this vital task bestowed upon her. And she wouldn’t be alone either; taking a peek behind her, the pegasus took note of the four other ponies who’d be helping her lead the others today. The dark blue alicorn needed no introduction; due to the gravity of this crisis, Princess Luna would oversee the proceedings at the factory today. Behind Luna stood the ponies who’d help lead each team: stern-old Colonel Pummel of the Royal Equestrian Army would fill in for Sugar herself over at VaporDep, the even-older Professor Krashkop would look after the volunteers assigned to manufacture rainbows, and the youthful ace-flyer Rainbow Dash of Ponyville renown would naturally ensure her team delivered rain clouds to their destinations in time. None of them have worked at a weather factory before by Sugar’s reckoning, but the higher-ups both in Cloudsdale and Canterlot felt these ponies would be the most effective leaders for the band of equally unskilled volunteer workers. Seeing that the assembled crowd of volunteer pegasi outside the front entrance of the large cloud-formed factory was of a sufficiently large size, Sugar Apple cleared her throat to get everypony’s attention first; “Ahem... uhhhh, howdy y’all fillies and gentlecolts; mah name’s Sugar Apple, and it’s mah jo- pleasure to orientate y’all about workin’ at th’ Royal Weather Factory hyar today.” Pleased that she hadn’t made a blathering fool of herself so far, the purple mare pressed onwards; “First things first; ya’ can’t enter th’ factory eff yer not wearin’ a proper uniform...” Sugar paused and pointed at her white jacket and hardhat, required clothing for all workers and visitors; “Eff ya’ forgot t’take a uniform, please head back over to th’ lady hoofin’ them out on yer way in. Everypony needs t’stay safe at all times, so git yer jackets an’ hardhats now please.” Sugar Apple now waited a few moments for the stragglers to collect their uniforms; she saw one gray pegasus dash out of the crowd who obviously failed to get the necessary clothing. Hopefully, said pegasus only suffered a brief attention lapse and wouldn’t present a chronic problem. In about a minute or so, Sugar would continue on with Orientation.....
7. Celestia's golden sun shone brightly in the wide blue sky above the city of Cloudsdale. It was an unseasonably warm Wednesday afternoon in the mid-fall, and Whirligig relished the sun's rays on her blue hair. She had just finished her shift in the weather factory - another long day in snowflake making. Winter was fast approaching, and crunch time for snowflakes was in full swing. Quite frankly, Whirligig was exhausted. Snowflakes were not her passion nor her special talent, but when life gives you lemons…Stretching her wings in the warm air felt wonderful after being cooped up inside the chilly production room all afternoon. She silently thanked whichever of the weather planners had arranged for this particular day as she slowly flew away from the employee exit of giant factory towards the centre of town. Cloudsdale was, to anypony unused to it, an impressive city. There were multiple streets on multiple levels and some areas weren't really even joined to the rest of city by clouds. The architecture of most edifices was dominated with high ceilings on the inside and tall, sturdy cloud pillars on the outside. And pretty much everything except for the ponies was white. To Whirligig, these sturdy structures were part of her daily flight to work and helped her to feel at home. Whirligig's apartment, the one she had grown up in and shared with her mother now, was in one of the crowded working-class districts of the city. But that wasn't where Whirligig was heading just yet. Tired as she was, it had been a few days since she had last let her mane down and spent time in the city centre socializing. Tonight she was determined to do just that to chase away the mid-week melancholy that always set-in on Wednesdays. None of her co-workers had wanted to come with her, and that was okay by her. There was always an opportunity to make new friends in the clouded city anyways. She made her way upwards to the main street. Here, there were shops, food stalls, theatres, some clubs and pubs and, on the corner, a large fenced-in playground. She loved strolling along Cloudsdale's main road. She trotted along slowly, gazing through windows at beautiful formal dresses she would never need nor wear as she passed, considered stopping in a café for a cappuccino, then again when she passed the ice cream bar. She tossed a few spare bits into a busker's open guitar case as she passed by, before stepping into the bakery and getting a coffee crème bun. Finally, she turned into the playground and took a seat on a park bench to eat her purchased treat. She watched with mild interest as a young filly pushed an even younger filly on the swing set, and two identical colts not far off were having a grand old time on the teeter-totter. A couple of young mares, presumably mothers of the young colts and fillies who had come from the schoolhouse around the corner, stood nearby chatting merrily about everything from their jobs to their children to local politics. It was a perfect day to be a Pegasus living in the City in the Sky. ((OOC: I have no idea where I'm going with this; should be fun! ))
8. I'm not really sure what the policy on Necromancy is in this forum, but on many forums I've been a part of in the past it was a big no-no. So, nearly a year ago I made a pretty epic (in my opinion) premise for a RP in Cloudsdale. And then I vanished, others vanished and it died rather quickly. Perhaps with a bit more planning/organization as well as maybe some more input from others we could rework the same idea and start fresh? The thread is copy-pasta'd under the spoiler tag: My problem is I actually have no idea where I would want the thread to go - and really, the whole point of RP is to tell a story/idea by working together with others. If you have any ideas/want to join, just post here! ------------------------------------------ EDIT - April 17th Okay, I'm going to actually try to get this going. Even if you've already expressed your interest in this thread, please fill out the following form: Name: Species: Brief physical description: Brief bio: Role to play in Celebrations: Picture (optional):

An example of role to play in celebrations would be something like greeter (as Whirligig does in the post above), tour guide, entertainer (there will be musical events and shows running for three days), transport person (getting the ponies up to cloudsdale), Cloud-walk spellcaster (for more powerful unicorns), just a visitor, etc. If you think of anything else, feel free to put it in and just explain briefly what this would involve. You can use as many character as you like, just fill out a form for each one. You can play as cast members if you want to. Again, if you have any other ideas or issues that you would like to raise in this thread, please please please let me know. List of Participants: Whirligig (played by Jane) Stormwing (played by Jane)
9. Whirligig had never been a strong flyer, but that didn't mean she didn't enjoy it. She was a Pegasus, flying was and always would be a part of her. The problem was, she sometimes didn't pay attention to the rest of the world when she flew. The wind rushing through her mane was exciting, so sometimes she just closed her eyes and flew...Ooof! She came into contact with something solid and instinctively flapped her wings to steady herself. It was a pony; a Stallion, and a very good-looking one at that. He was tall and sturdy, with a deep blue pelt and a ragged-looking grey mane. And he had piercing blue eyes that Whirligig met awkwardly. She instantly felt frazzled and embarrassed. "Oh, I'm so, so very sorry I didn't see you there. I was on my way home from work and just so happy to be out of the dingy factory and I wasn't watching where I was going. I-I suppose I'll get out of your way now." She fluttered awkwardly to the side to let the stallion pass.

Weather Ponies

Here's a bit on how I think the weather works in Equestria; feel free to comment if you feel like something doesn't quite fit with canon or if your ideas differ greatly from my own. I figure that managing the weather for a gigantic nation like Equestria is no easy task. It's probably a huge operation composed of many teams and departments, and it's mostly government funded. The centre of these operations is Cloudsdale, though Canterlot has some say in the operations as well. First of all, the Pegasi don't have to control the weather. In Aquellia, for example, the weather is left to its own devices as it is in the Everfree Forest. The clouds do form naturally and move at will. But the Pegasi can control the weather due to ancient magic and have been doing so since the days of the three tribes. It started out that they just pushed the naturally-formed clouds around, but they later developed methods to create the clouds themselves. Sometimes being a weather pony involves collecting and arranging clouds to form showers, but a lot of the time, it also involves clearing the clouds. Sometimes these clouds were made in Cloudsdale and have just escaped the storerooms, but a lot of the time these are stray natural clouds that have formed and cause problems. Pegasi have access to magic of their own: the magic that allows them to fly, for example, also affects the weather. They can use this magic to slow or speed up winds, raise and lower the temperature of the air, and cause or prevent thunderstorms, hurricanes and tornados. Because the forces of the weather can be dangerous, there are various levels of teams involved in the management of the weather. At the top, you have the meteorological engineers. These are Pegasi who are highly skilled in weather magic as a result of having a university degree in the study of the creation and formation of meteorological phenomena; both how it works naturally as well as what Pegasi can do to modify these natural behaviours. My OC, Whirligig, dreams of one day becoming a meteorological engineer. And then you have the various teams beneath them; field weather ponies. A university degree is not required to be a field weather pony, but an apprenticeship is. If the meteorological engineers are the architects and designers of the weather, these guys are the carpenters, electricians and other manual tradesponies who make the weather happen. They are often broken into teams and sent to towns all across Equestria. Each team has a supervisor who makes sure everything runs smoothly, as well as five or six ponies who form the team itself, though the size of the team varies based on demand. Ponyville's weather team is supervised by Rainbow Dash, but there are other Pegasi underneath her who also help out, as seen in look before you sleep and Hurricane Fluttershy. My OC Stormwing is a field weather pony for the town of Trottingham. Then you have the weather factory and its workers (as well as various levels of management within the factory. Obviously there are going to be some Metorological Engineers overseeing operations here as well, and then department managers and quality control). A lot of Equestria's weather starts life in the factory. Here clouds of all types are made in addition to Rainbows, Snowflakes and electrical systems. There is also a great deal of testing and research done in the factory in close association with the University of Cloudsdale. This research includes the formation and operation of tornados, as well as the containment of storm systems. In between the factory and the field teams, there are also delivery ponies who work with the factory. These are teams of Pegasi who 'carry' the weather systems created in Cloudsdale to all the towns in Equestria. Clouds are usually corralled and transported that way, with special measures taken when it comes to electrically active clouds. Rainbows are tinned and carried in this manner. When a rainbow is to be used, a field weather pony has only to open the can and pour the liquid rainbow across the sky. The story of Snowdrop fits in nicely - snow began life in the same way rain did. It wasn't until Snowdrop came along that hoof-made snowflakes were introduced to Equestria. Clouds are made in the usual manner, then infused with hoof-made snowflakes before being sent out to the rest of Equestria. I'm still trying to work on my wind theories. I've read a few fanfics where there was a tornado creation section in the weather factory, but Hurricane Fluttershy suggests that Tornados can easily be made in the field with a lot of wing power. I'm thinking maybe tornados are made in the factory and then, like rainbows, somehow transported to the rest of Equestria when needed. I don't think they'd be needed often though, except maybe to assist with moving water when ponies aren't keen on breaking records by doing it the old-fashioned way. Obviously the use of more dangerous elements would be heavily monitored. Cloudsdale itself doesn't have weather systems the same way the rest of Equestria does. They don't have gardens so they don't need precipitation the same way, so they like keeping their clouds in tact (I figure a lot of rain in Cloudsdale would damage the clouds the city is made out of. Cloudsdale does have its own team of weather ponies, but their sole responsibility is keeping the stray clouds out of the city.) Anyways, I just felt like sharing this. I'm not trying to create lore for the WoE, and I don't expect everypony to agree with me on this, but this system will probably be referenced by OCs in some of my RP posts. - Jane
11. Equestrian mornings were always a thing of beauty. From grassy valley, across wheat-blanketed fields, sprawling apple orchards, and vast forest sweeps; from the lowest river plain to the highest mountaintop; from the expanses of the wild blue to the cloudy wisps at the dizzying reaches of the atmosphere, morning dawned. Fire kissed the horizon, a sultry red-orange glow that stretched its lucid rays across the earth, sea, sky, and aether. A lone pegasus gingerly closed the locker door, hoofing the lock into place and giving the dial a twist. A blast of hot breath escaped her nostrils as she stepped out of the locker room. Freshly awakened muscles twitched beneath goldenrod-yellow fur while a jet black mane and tail ruffled softly in the wind. Stepping into the soft orange glow outside, the mare stretched her wings to their full extent, revealing black pinion tips, contrasting starkly with her subdued fur and plumage. Sunrise was different from Cloudsdale. There was little dust or haze at altitude, allowing Sergeant Acclaim to enjoy a full unadulterated view of Celestia’s dawn. The sergeant was free of her usual regalia and appointments. No armor, saddle blankets, hoofguards, lances, tail or mane ties, or helms; only fur, feathers, and sinew. Acclaim smiled. This was was how a pegasus should live! The sergeant stretched her legs and wings, working each appendage through its full range of motion and limbering each muscle as she reached it. She was back in the Twin Cities of Cloudsdale and Trottingham for R&R to be sure, but you could never quite take the army life out of a soldier. Endless PT routines drilled into her head a fixed waking time at “the flank crack of dawn” as civilians would put it. So there she stood, her hooves on the outermost ring of Cloudsdale’s famous Cloudeseum, the sky above, the sunrise below, and horizon before her. Her warm up complete, Acclaim took a deep breath and leaped forward into the blue.
12. ((So.. That titles pretty random.. If you have any better ones, please lemme know and I can change it in a heartbeat ^^)) That shop owner sure does talk a lot.. I wonder what this does, anyway? Star Storm asked herself in her head, glancing down at the freshly stolen potion in her bag. Lately the little pegasus has been running low on bits, and decided nabbing a potion or two to sell on the street might just be the solution, unfortunately, she could only get one. "Sure looks expensive, at least.." She looked up through a cloud just overhead to see the location of the sun. Phew, little while before dark.. Time to fly..? Star spread her wings, readying herself just before tripping over some nearby pony in her haste.. or, griffon, rather. Crack! One of her wings broke. "Ow! Kenny!" ((Ooc: She named her wings Kenny and Zero because they break a lot. Kenny is her right wing.. ;D))
13. "What have I gotten myself into here?" the white pegasus mumbled as she stood there, waiting for her friend to arrive. It had all happened so fast, and all of the sudden she had had no choice but just go with it. She felt a little uncomfortable already, all alone in the middle of the entertainment district of that dreadful city. It all began a few days ago. Opal had been on her rare visits to Cloudsdale, because as much as she hated coming here, it was the only place she could get the ingredients she needed for her performances. By chance she had run into somepony she hadn't seen for months. It was Summerfall, one of the ponies that had worked in the weather factories during her time there. And even though Opal Shards wasn't too keen on remembering that dead end job, she had to concede that the breaks in the cafeteria hadn't been all that bad. So they had been talking for a while, and she had learned all kinds of things about Summerfall's career choices, and before she know what had happened, Opal had promised to go to that new club in town. And now she was here, waiting for the golden pegasus to arrive. Opal Shards stepped on the spot nervously. Her clothing selection was scarce at best. Luckily she had bought a summer dress fairly recently. It was milky white and fairly plain, but her build made her look elegant in most everything she wore. And she didn't want to attract too much attention anyway. 'Otherwise I could have worn my Shadowbolt uniform.' she though gloomily. She had opted for a pair of light sunglasses, too, to lessen the effect of her piercing, red eyes somewhat. And so she stood there, waiting to be picked up.
14. "And now I sound like some kind of sappy, sentimental loser..." Awk-waaaard. If it -wasn't- a gryphon, Ignition might have decided to mock her a bit. But the thing about gryphons, the main things that kind of defined being a gryphon, were strength, talons, and a beak. And the thing about pegasi, the main defining characteristics of a pegasus, was that they are lightweight and kind of easy to break. The latter should not, in fact, make a point of unduly aggrivating the former, for the math simply does not favour those of the latter party. So, she tried to transition the subject, with a little sympathy thrown in. "Well, hay, it's not like you're a loser just because you don't ignore your own feelings forever, they're just a part of being alive. I mean, have you met Alice Hoofer? Dude might be the überpferd of heavy metal, but off-stage, the dude is zen." Of course, changing topics, or even excersizing tact, weren't things that Ignition usually did. Did the gryphon even like Alice Hoofer? Seriously, who didn't like "School's Out"?
15. A cold spring breeze ruffled the white mare's feathers as she flew over the clouds of Cloudsdale, her saddlebags filled with herbs and roots. It had been a long day, and the local herbalists seemed to have worse selections every time. It was a blessing that as a Shadowbolt, she could finally afford all the ingredients she needed for her more ambitious experiments. Opal Shards despised visiting Cloudsdale. It carried all kinds of bad memories. Her time in the weather factory, her tiny room, and not least her miserable failure at the Wonderbolt tryouts. She preferred not to think about it. As she flew over the entertainment district, she spotted, much to her surprise, someone she actually knew, and didn't resend from the bottom of her heart. She floated down to him elegantly, clearing her throat to get his attention: "If it isn't Gale.." She began, smiling thinly but genuinely "..haven't seen your glasses in a while." She shuffled her wings, folding them neatly on her back. "Still part of that flight team.. what was it called again?" She gave a little chuckle.
16. The city in the sky was always busy, people were always going and coming... and while it was not unexpected to see some silly pegasus foal flying around doing stunts, it was rarely welcome... When a fully-gown stallion was zipping around, nearly colliding with other ponies right and left, and laughing about it... of course at the same time, Streak had been doing this since he was old enough to fly, so it also had become a fairly normal occurrence. The residents had hoped that his new career would keep him away from the city... they were wrong... Streak zipped forward and made a mid-flight 'hop' over a cart, startling the driver who though the foolish flying pony was about to crash into it, but then he saw who it was and he just rolled his eyes. they had all give up getting angry about streak long ago... The pegasus did a reverse-corkscrew going upwards along a tower and zipping off, flying over the rainbow pools, leaving tiny ripples going all through the colors, making lovely swirls in places before the settled back down. The pegasus finally came to rest atop the dome of the weather-center, surveying the land of clouds. He loved to travel, but it was always great to be home.
17. (OOC: This thread is open to fillies and colts just learning to fly. Also, Sky's father is just an NPC, and aside from setting up the thread, he'll not be there for the rest of it. Also, I'm keeping the thread at five max. so once I get five, I'll close the thread.) Sky Flare arrived at the cloudsdale Flight School bright and early with his father. His father hinted at being a surprise for his son, making the stunt pegasus wonder what. After waiting in anticipation, his father gave him the surprise. "Son, I want you to instruct the New Flyers class by yourself." "Um... wow," Sky said regarding the surprise. He wanted to lead an instruction, but not necessarily the New Flyers. He thought he would teach epic stunts to the more advanced ponies, not teaching ponies how to fly. "I guess I can teach them. I was kind of expecting to be starting with a more advanced class." "Well, everypony instructing here starts with the New Flyers class. If you do well there, there's a good chance you'll be able to teach the more advanced classes. And who knows, you may like teaching the new foals." "Well I guess it can't hurt dad. I'll go and wait for them." He went to the New Flyers practice field wondering who he'll meet.
18. Silverbolt watched Sky Flare lazily go by upside down and laughed. "That's pretty cool Sky!", he shouted to Sky Flare. He finally had an idea of what he was gonna do. Gliding back to the artist's easel, he said, "I am gonna try something, give me a moment.". Flying out into the frame, carefully flying past Sky Flare to a cloud.
19. "Oh?" She said with a cold smile on her features "Is alchemy his second calling?" She gave the pegasus a slightly condescending looks. She already regretted asking her for help at all. She sighed, trotting behind her, ruffling her wings a little, airing her feathers. "Let's see what he has to say."

21. Back in the deepest recesses of pony history, before the pegasi formed Cloudsdale, Canterlot had a twin sister city in the sky inhabited by rainbow-colored bears with magical power. This city was called Care-a-Lot. The bears were deposed, their powers stripped, and the pegasus ponies remade this city to their own preferences. Called it Cloudsdale. The end.
22. The Heartland The center of Greater Equestria, the Heartland region is a land of rolling hills, vibrant rivers, great forests, and vast lakes. Here lie the many various farms that supply much of Equestria's bounty, bustling cities where ponies learn, trade, and invent, and vast forests frequented by both naturalists and adventurers. Settlements of the Heartland Ponyville - A small, unassuming town in the middle of the Heartland surrounded by apple orchards and idyllic farms of all types, Ponyville is fairly typical of most Equestrian hamlets. It is the current residence of the bearers of the Elements of Harmony and thus has gained special attention from Princess Celestia in recent days. Trottingham - An affluent vacation town on the north shore of the easternmost Nimbusgait Lake. Many of the inhabitants of the town are seasonal, arriving during the summer months to live in their waterfront houses and enjoy fun in the sun. To the north of the city are picturesque vineyards, which only add to the upscale and touristy flavor of the place. Cloudsdale - Floating home to the Pegasi of the Heartland, Cloudsdale looms above the Nimbusgait Lakes. Here, pegasi work the Weather Factories, creating the different seasons, storms, and elements that allow the residents and greenery of Greater Equestria to flourish, and flight crews can often be spotted coming and going on a near-constant basis. Vanhoover - A resort oriented city nestled in the foothills of the Hasufel Mountains between the Everfree Forest and the Great Nimbusgait Lakes known for it's many outdoor opportunities for tourists, art scene, plentiful gardens, and general bohemian atmosphere. Major Natural Features Nimbusgait Lakes - The sparkling, pristine waters of the Nimbusgait Lakes are a prime feature of the northern reaches of Equestria’s Heartland. Trottingham is situated on lake shore property, feeding and housing the seasonal influx of tourists and athletes that come to play and train on the trails and beaches along the shores of the lakes. The Lakes supply Cloudsdale’s weather factories with water to make clouds and produce rainbows-- water that is eventually returned to the lakes by rains and runoff. Everfree Forest - Largely empty of ponyfolk, the Everfree Forest covers a massive swath of ground that is the full western third of the Heartland. The region is largely unexplored, though a few safe paths and trails are marked out. For the most part though, the Everfree Forest is home to all manner of creatures from the mundane to the mystical. Because of its sheer size, age, and legendary wildlife, nature is allowed to run its course unhindered by any form of pony magic of control. It is no surprise then that the ruins of the Moon Palace sit here, its crumbling halls now only home to the howling wind and hardy plants. The Velvet Strand - The center of the secretive and mysterious Peryton civilization, these isles are nothing short of irresistible in their tranquil beauty , and all who look upon them are awaited in feelings of contentment and joy. Everything that is built is designed to be fully integrated with the natural landscape to the point that from a distance, it looks as if there is no buildings at all. Other Geographical Features The Heartland is also home to Froggy Bottom, Equestria's largest swamp and home to its own share of legendary and strange magical creatures that lurk among the dark and misty foliage. The Hasufel Mountains, with its legendary tallest peak, Dragon Mountain, once an ancient home to many dragons, the mysterious empty caves of which, still exist. Finally the tall Allacor Mountains, which separate the Heartland from the Borderlands beyond, which only the most adventurous and daring ponies climb the remote peaks of.
23. Stormy shuffled her hooves as she stood at the gate to Cloudsdale. It'd been years since she'd set hoof on the clouds of her home, and she wasn't sure she was quite ready to return... However, she'd been ordered by the weather team back home that she needed to take a break. This seemed like the perfect chance to visit her father again, though he was busy in the weather factory for the moment. The pegasus figured she'd wander around Cloudsdale for a while before returning to her father's house. Sighing briefly, the blue pegasus started into town, walking down memory lane, as it were. She saw ponies at work, and ponies at play, and she glanced up at the flight school for a few moments as well. She fondly remembered her weather classes there, and almost wanted to pay a visit to her old teacher, but thought perhaps she should at least wait until classes were out. Instead, she went wandering deeper into the city, to see anything that may have changed or was perhaps new. A few little shops had sprung up, and as she continued walking, Stormy lost herself in thoughts and memories. She thought about storms, and her upcoming schedule with the weather team, and she thought about her father, and her school, and she thought about how she still couldn't really say that she knew anypony. She had always had few friends, and even after recovering from her mother's death, Storm hadn't really bothered to get to know anypony except her father. It was odd, and she came to the conclusion that this was something she needed to rectify. When she looked up, she realized that while she'd been lost in her thoughts, she managed to lose herself in Cloudsdale. The city had expanded apparently, and Stormy had no idea how or when she'd wandered into this unfamiliar new section. The fright that was just beginning to overtake her, however, was averted by a sudden hunger, and the pegasus sat down and stared around, confused, wondering where that smell of fresh baked bread was coming from.
