Disclaimer: It is highly unlikely that the game under discussion here will ever be made. I just wanted to talk through ideas on this concept and, perhaps, figure out why no one has made it yet. So, here's the five second pitch: An MMO based on old-school 2D-scrolling shoot-em-up's. I periodically search to see if there's a beta for anything like this; apparently something of the kind was once made for a Korean market, but the servers have since gone offline. Now, I think this could actually be made to work, especially since 2D Beat-em-ups have already spawned multiple games on the market currently. So, let's walk through this concept, to see if there's any fundamental difficulty in the enterprise: First, the meat of the game is obviously going to be the combat. How is this going to work? In normal SHMUP (i.e. Gradius), your ship is usually a One Hit Point Wonder, which "levels up" very quickly through dropped power-ups from destroyed enemies, and has a limited number of "re-spawns" to get through a gauntlet of waves and bosses. Now, giving a ship more "hitpoints" is a simple enough manner, but the thing about MMO's, and RPG's in general, is that progression in power is generally more gradual, with dungeons and bosses spaced further apart. Furthermore, many of these areas are set up so that the character has to be at a certain level of power to beat, regardless of the skill level of the player. In SHMUP's, skill is paramount, since at any point you can die and be sent back to Level 1 (in terms of character power.) Is this overcomeable? Yes, there have been hybrids of the SHMUP and the RPG in the single-player world, most notably RPG Shooter Starwish (found here). It uses RPG stats to determine how much damage you give when you hit, and how much damage you take when you are hit, but getting hit or hitting is more up to player skill, which is probably a good place to start. In theory, the waves should be designed so that a skilled player could do a "pacifist run" through any of them, regardless of whether his ship/weapons are up to that "level" yet. Or, if the waves are instanced, they might possibly be scaled to the player's level. This would also allow the difficulty to be set at the beginning, perhaps including a "One-Hitpoint wonder" mode, for all the old-schoolers. The Second Big Issue is the Multiplayer aspect. SHMUP's have a long tradition of Player 1 and Player 2, which seems like it would be easy to adapt to a system of small parties, though I'm not sure how easy it would be to work with 4 player ships on screen at the same time (more would be silly). In any case, I suspect that Soloing would probably be a more than viable option in this hypothetical situation. Still, if there are parties, would class roles work? Sure, as ships are customizable, builds might be designated as "Tank" or "DPS", though crowd control would be tricky, and healing possibly abusive. That would have to work through a lot of testing, but I still think it could be done. Or they could disregarded entirely; it's not necessary to the core of the game. Really up to the designer's vision (and budget), and allows room for variety in the market. Again, I'm a conceptualist and writer, so I don't know how difficult this would all be to program. If you have any suggestions as to why this would be more difficult than I think it would be, or have any cool suggestions you want to talk through, please post them!

i don't know where to post this but i am thinking of an Rp base on Ghostbuster that i want to make i have thought of this hey i was thinking of make a story thing of ghostbusters i am still thinking of the open storyline thing i have some but not alot like the timeline takes place in present equestria and if you have a better title idea i can use that too

i am out of ideas for Ruby boulder history and i was hopeing somepony could give me some (before QuickLime says anything i know that only she can appove it is to get ideas for him) here is what i got History: Ruby was born in ponyville.Other ponies felt uncomforted around him because he is so big. His father was a workaholic his mother was overprotective so he got along ok with them. his grandparents are pegasi that live in cloudsdale.He his some cousin that live in canterlot.He is a miner where he lives and takes vacation in other towns. When he as a colt he move around until he got to beakbreak city. He hopes to find the mother load of all gems. any help will be helpful and thanks if you help me

Yeah, if anyone needs explaining on where these various ideas come from, either talk to me or use Google if you're still absolutely lost. So hey everyone, I got a few ideas I'd like to pull out for rp. Most of these are just direct ponifications, but I'm going to try keep it so that the spilling over still remains natural to the feel of whatever is being crossed-over/ponified. 1. Warmachine/Hordes Crossover: Basic description: Warmachine/Hordes is a tabletop set in the land of the Iron Kingdoms, otherwise known as Immoren. It's a Steampunk world with elements of Fantasy and magic, where factions are contested against each other for their own causes. What I like between the two is how both Warmachine and Hordes are different in terms of their canon (Warmachine: Steampunky with magic, Hordes: Full on fantasy.), as well GIANT STEAM ROBOTS, and GIANT FANTASY BEASTS. All in all, quite rich in exploitable content IMO. The Idea: Add some ponies, set them as freelance/mercenary ponies, bind them all together with a contract, send them off on their way, and so begins their escapade through the ponified Iron Kingdoms. Regular adventure, filled with dodging enemies, fulfilling tasks, and so forth. I honestly want to try implement a rudimentary character stat system here, just to add unpredictability. 2. Dust Warfare/Tactic Crossover. Basic description: WW2 Weird-War. Mechs, Gorillas, Zombies, Alien compounds, Jump troops. The year is 1947, and the world is literally still killing each other, the Axis are still there, the Allies broke their alliance with the USSR, who formed the Sino-Soviet Union (SSU) with China. Most WW2 elements still exist, it's just abit... sci-fi. The Idea: This kinda setting makes a good, typical NLRvsSolar Empire scenario, however, this this idea can pan out in many ways. There is nothing that speaks specifically of mercenaries who seek wealth and so forth however, so this could end quickly if everyone is on separate sides, if people are on one side however, the story could go anywhere. I'm flexible with the mechanics here, maybe as far as to leave them behind for the good old fashioned descriptive rp. 3. Shadowrun Crossover For those who don't know...: Shadowrun is a Cyberpunk Science-Fantasy game set in the 2050s (or 2070s, as is the background given in the 5th revision of it's rpg rules). In 2012, the "Awakening" brought back Magic to the world, giving rise to the usual fantasy creatures, orks, trolls, elves, etc. Since 2012, the usual cyberpunk technological advances came to, thanks to megacorporations, some which transcend national law, there is a gap between those who work for corporations, and those left to the cruel streets, where local gangs make their home. Players play as a "Shadowrunner", a guy (well, pony) who does "deniable" jobs for others, such as smuggling, killing, kidnapping, tracking, etc. The role play idea...: The way I see, this can pan out in two ways: 1. Using the traditional landscape of Equestrian, the "Shadowrunners" can be "deniable mercenaries" who work for the various ponies of Equestria. Of course, typical outright death is not allowed. Something along the lines of covert sabotage or espionage would be in order. Technology would remain same, if not the advanced tech being exclusive to the pony. 2. Bring Ponies to the context of Shadowrun, by supplanting Equestria with massive sprawls of technology (because the fantasy element already kind of exists, so the awakening in this case would be something akin to mechanical or scientific enlightenment). Iconic towns and cities such as Canterlot, Ponyville, Cloudsdale would be "modernized" in a way that fits Shadowrun context. Megacorporations and institutes could be named after certain things in the show (eg. Rainbow Factory co., Sombra Industries, Apple Family Enterprises (AFE), Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns and Mechanics, etc). Of course, like option one, jobs will have to mellowed out as to comply with forum rules. But who says exploding buildings and covert operations (within limits ofc) are 18+ stuff. For this option, I don't mind doing it using mechanics or purely through storytelling (Got Shadowrun 5e book.) Went ahead and updated with a third option, and I'm bumping to see if anyone still wants to give these crazy ideas a shot.

How I found Canterlot.com: I was searching for a My little pony forum because I have a lot of ideas and I needed support since I don't have the right tools to make the series How I became a fan of MLP:FiM: Well, When I was watching Minecraft videos I discovered moonbase alpha which led me to ponies, a month later I checked out the series and liked it My favourite main cast pony/s: AppleJack,Fluttershy,Miss Rarity,Rainbow Dash,Twilight Sparkle,Pinkamina Diane Pie Hello for the over 90,000th time. Not so original but I'm here just to make a fan series. I don't have the right tools and I need a crew and support. Now this sounds like a load of *Censored* doesn't it? Oh wait this is getting off topic. Basically hello.

Hello, all! Would anyone be interested in a "Doctor Whooves" roleplay? TARDIS, Time Travel, and aliens included? I have two ideas for the plotline... (and no, they're not really canonically correct, but then it IS Doctor Who) 1. Doctor Whooves recieves a distress call somewhere far above Equestria and hops into his TARDIS along with his companion(s) to see what's wrong. Setting the coordinates and teleporting away, the Doctor and his companion(s) soon land on the moon only to find that Night Mare Moon has created her own kingdom: The Lunar Republic. Over time, "Empress Moon", as she calls herself, had been foalnapping ponies from all around Equestria, using her magic to make them loyal to her. This has been going on for some time now and Empress Moon has built her own army along with deadly shadow-like monsters who serve as her lackeys. She plans to use this army to attack Equestria and take over her sister's throne, taking her revenge once and for all for her banishment. 2. Discord has returned to Equestria, unleashing a slew of various deadly creatures including Weeping Pegasi. These Pegasi, however, don't send you to the past. Discord has altered them, making their touch turn another pony into stone. Discord then keeps these little "statues" as prizes which he starts with Princess Celestia.... His goal? Add the Mane Six to his collection. Doctor Whooves, being familiar with the Weeping Pegasi, joins the Mane Six along with his companion(s) to aid in defeating Discord and returning everyone to normal again. Personally, I like number 1 the best mostly because it requires fewer main characters and opens up possibilities for other ponies. Characters Needed For Option 1 (Though any character can be used such as the Mane Six even though they're not listed here): Night Mare Moon - Night Mare Moon's minions (pony and shadow) - CrecentBlaze (pony minion) Doctor Whooves - DoctorWhooves (Me) A companion(s); can be pony versions of the Doctor's companions (Rose, Martha, Donna, Jack, etc.; 2 MAX) - Characters Needed For Option 2 (same as above): Discord - Applejack (I'll play her if needed) - Rainbow Dash - Princebloomoon1 Fluttershy - Rarity - Twilight Sparkle - Pinkie Pie - Weeping Pegasi - Doctor Whooves (I'll play him as well if needed, but I'd rather not play both the Doctor and AJ) - I'm also open to plenty of other ideas! I've recently had a TON of story ideas rolling around my head recently. I'm currently working with koolerkid (Author of "My Little Avengers") on a big fic ideas, so I need a secondary project to occupy my free time not writing our fic. However, I have a million ideas prepped and ready to be executed. To give you some ideas of my....ideas, here are the ones I've considered most strongly: 1) "It's Always Sunny in Fillydelphia" Plot: This would be partially-based off one of my favorite shows "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". Essentially, the plot would surround a group of ponies (All based off the characters from said show), all running a fairly unsuccessful bar in South Fillydelphia. However, one day they discover an article in the newspaper regarding the Mane 6 coming to stay in North Fillydelphia, the same group of ponies that were pinned to be the ones who caused the "Parasprite Rampage" of Fillydelphia. Attempting to win the city's love and to gain glory, the gang goes off to get revenge on the Mane 6, all resulting in the expected antics that you'd see in 'Always Sunny'. 2) "Love Stinks" Plot: One night, the Mane 6 minus Twilight go to Sugarcube Corner, where a party is being held for the newest arrivals in Ponyville. This happens to be a "well-known" band of stallions who are simply adored by every mare that sees them. The ponies are quickly entranced with the stallions, leaving Twilight Sparkle to question her own worth, attractiveness and general personality. Seeking answers to her questions of life regarding romance and affection, Twilight seeks the help of "Filly-Killin' Flynn", the greatest bachelor pony in all of Equestria. However, her visit sets a chain of events that reveals more about romance than Twilight could imagine...(Not a HEAVY ship fic throughout. This only picks up later in the story.) 3) "The Nightmare Cometh" Plot: Mayor Mare approaches Twilight Sparkle near the end of the summer season, knowing her as one of the most literate ponies in Ponyville. Apparently, the Mayor has decided to mark the end of summer with a collection of plays and performances on the night before the Fall Equinox. Of course, the stakes seem low until it's made clear that a prize will be offered to the best-rated performance. The Mane 6, along with the rest of Ponyville, begin formulating their own ideas. However, thanks to an infiltration job by Rainbow Dash of Pinkie's room, the rest of the Mane 6 discover Pinkie's idea for a performance, a play called "The Nightmare Cometh", which convinces the 5 that they should band together to put on a big performance...wackiness ensues, both on and off the stage...(Of course, the idea of the play and even the name comes from "The Nightman Cometh" from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia") 4) "To Kill a Blue Jay" (Tenative) Plot: Essentially, a ponified-"To Kill a Mockingbird" plot, with the residents of Ponyville taking the characters roles. I LOVE the story of "Mockingbird", and I've brainstormed so many ideas of how it could correspond with the universe of MLP. However, I'll admit that this is the least-developed idea I currently have... So...please help me make this choice easier!
