1. Sunset Shimmer loved her dear friend Twilight Sparkle, truly she did... but never since Sunset’s brief transformation into a fiendish monstrosity at the Fall Formal had she felt the overwhelming urge to end Twilight. What could generate such strong emotions from Miss Shimmer? Why, the impending marriage of Petunia Petals and Mayor Skies of Hope Hollow, of course. Granted, from what little Sunset remembered of the childhood hometown she deserted, those two ponies were actually among the few ponies who did her no wrong. The fact that the engaged couple didn’t send Sunset an wedding invitation didn’t upset the Equestrian girl one bit either; she was still rather glad to avoid Hope Hollow at all costs. No... the problem was that Princess Twilight got sent an invitation, and using her granted right as a wedding attendee, she chose Sunset Shimmer as her “plus one” guest. Sunset tried making a huge stink, reminding her supposed friend of all the bad blood between Sunset and her folks, but it was to no avail. For reasons the unicorn couldn’t fathom, Twilight refused to budge, countering Sunset’s every excuse with a well-reasoned counterargument or an ingenious workaround. Like it or not, Sunset Shimmer would be forced to return to the scene of her first ever betrayal..... ---------- Up in front of the train car, Twilight’s Ponyville friends (plus a few guests of their own) were excitedly yammering amongst themselves, for they too were invited to the Hope Hollow Wedding. But Miss Shimmer, despite being a fellow Friendship professor, stuck to the very back. The amber unicorn clearly appeared to others as pensive as she fixed her gaze upon the landscape moving past the window. All these years gone by, and yet Sunset Shimmer remained unprepared to face the most terrifying specters that remained from her past. Would she have the strength to confront her parents, if it came to it? Did they still hate her? Did they miss her? Or had Sunset been entirely forgotten about? And of course, there was also the unnamed sibling to consider, who had not yet been born when Sunset left Hope Hollow forever. How did that kid turn out? .....How did he or she cope with a world without color? Sunset sighed as she forlornly shook her head; nothing good could come out of a family reunion. The best she could hope for was to either hope she was forgotten, or succeed in avoiding her folks until it was time to return home. Goodness knows how that could be done in such a small town as Hope Hollow, but Celestia-willing, Sunset will make a good damned try out of it.....
2. The cheers of children filled the cool winter air of Canterlot on an other wise uneventful morning. A black unicorn patiently waited on one of the many small bridges that sprawled over the numerous ponds that painted the green landscapes with beautiful streaks of blue. The tall mare was shrouded beneath an equally dark and heavy cloak, her crimson eyes searching the sky for persons unknown as she cocked her head up towards the heavens. After a brief search, her endeavor seemed fruitful, the somber looking pony lowering her head to ground level as a black winged griffon landed in front of her. The pair of dark individuals spoke about topics unknown, the griffon laughing heartily while his associate stared back at him with an ever static expression on her face. After a moment of awkward silence between the pair, the griffon nervously rubbed the back of his silver feathered head with an obsidian talon before the unicorn spoke a few parting words to her friend. With a deft use of magic, the shrouded pony slid an unknown item out from beneath compartments equally unknown. The object was bound in a sturdy wrapping to guard the identity and the content of the package from unscrupulous eyes. With a few quick sleights of talons and magic, the pair of shady looking individuals exchanged goods and bits. And as quickly as he had arrived, the griffon waved farewell and flew off to parts unknown in the capital of the pony world. Her client gone, the mysterious unicorn readjusted her form fitted cloak and nonchalantly started walking towards the exit of the surprisingly large park.
3. Fetrock - the first and only big performance of it's kind for the year. The night of the performance loomed, the stage set up in full just outside of Ponyville. The audience was gathering, being kept on their hooves by a record player feeding some classic rock into the speakers. The stage itself was a pretty big one - worthy enough of the rockstars-to-be that might grace the wooden planks and sing before the soundboards overhead. The heavy red curtains remained shut for now, and back behind the stage, sheltered by a few thin wooden walls held up by scaffolding, the performers had been instructed to gather. The road crew all gathered before the peformers, save for the lead, which flew overhead. The MC had his own duties to perform, working on the stage itself. Mutters of soundcheck could be heard up the stairs to the stage itself, but they weren't terribly important. They were simply the calm before the storm to come. "Alright, now I know some of you are new to fetrock, so lemme give you all a quick rundown! You listen to the MC first, me second, and eachother third. We're not trying to one-up eachother, we're not trying to outplay eachother; this is all about the fans! They're happy when they're listening to music, NOT when they're waiting around because you forgot to tune your strings before gettin on-stage!" The spitfire pegasus darted over the heads of the gathered performers, weaving expertly between scaffolding and rafters, keeping her eyes forward and her voice loud. She'd actually done some work dolling herself up - a little enchanted dye to give her mane a proper flaming sort of look, a bit of extra eyeliner to give her eyes a little more glaring definition, a few gold rings through her ears, and a fresh set of dyes on her coat, and a tribal studded gryphon vest to give herself a distinctive road-weathered look. She looked ready enough to hit the stage herself, which she would in due time - but she had double-duty to pull. Before she'd hit the stage, she'd make sure everyone else was ready to do the same. Honestly, it was a lot for one pony to try and pull off, but a few harsh Germane energy drinks would make pretty darn sure she'd be able to flap through it all without needing to take five. "Now, that said, if you need something done quick, you don't run off and do it yourself! You stay back here, you call for a roadie, and you tell me or the crew politely; we will do it for you! We need you guys ready for the stage, not rooting through your stuff in the green room!" With that, the pegasus landed in front of the gathered performers, her hooves hitting the stage with a hefty 'Ca-lump!', her silver eyes looking over the crowd. Yeah, this was a decent gathering, and she even saw some faces she'd seen on other stages before. It was always good to have experienced ponies in the lineup - names that'd get flanks in the crowd were always plenty welcome on the charity event that was Fetrock. Honestly, this was looking pretty promising, and she was gonna make sure it ran smooth as possible. Ignition flipped her glowing mane back, grinning wildly as she wrapped her little pack of instructions. "Now, we have ninety minutes before we start this show rolling. Until then, I want you guys to loosen up, make sure you've got your act together, and stay frosty! I'll take first act to wind the crowd up for you guys at 9 sharp! You have one hour to pull on my wing and get me to help you guys out. After that, you talk to the other roadies - Wingstrong, Blitzhoof and The Claw." With that, Ignition bucked her head towards a trio of vest-clad individuals with "CREW" written across their backs - a lithe brown pegasus, a lanky unicorn mare, and a black-feathered gryphon giving a nod at the call of their respective names. None of them looked like the sort to ooze enthusiasm or cheer, but they looked approachable and plenty quick on their various limbs. Apparently, their business was serious, and their expressions fit to match. Still, Ignition was getting tired of the sound of her own voice, and she was pretty sure she wasn't the only one. "Until then, you guys just sort yourselves out and get ready to put on a performance that you'd be proud to let Celestia hear! Swap notes, psyche yourselves up, whatever you need to do - get to it, champs!"
4. Fancy Pants sat at an outdoor table by a small, expensive cafe in an upper-class area of Manehattan. He didn't take trips to the big city often, and he was here on some business regarding a dispute between the mayors of Manehattan and Fillydelphia. Rather dreadful business it was, too. But as he was valued for his ability to handle such delicate matters, here he was. He had to admit it was nice to be able to get away from the constant chatter of his usual entourage, but he didn't like the lack of conversation that had replaced it. He had almost assuredly been recognized as the "most important pony" from Canterlot, and it had made some of the upper-class denizens of Manehattan a little wary of approaching him. It was absurd, in his opinion. He would hardly have sat out in the open if he did not welcome being approached. Oh well. He took a sip of his tea in the proper manner befitting an upper-class unicorn trained in etiquette.
5. "And now I sound like some kind of sappy, sentimental loser..." Awk-waaaard. If it -wasn't- a gryphon, Ignition might have decided to mock her a bit. But the thing about gryphons, the main things that kind of defined being a gryphon, were strength, talons, and a beak. And the thing about pegasi, the main defining characteristics of a pegasus, was that they are lightweight and kind of easy to break. The latter should not, in fact, make a point of unduly aggrivating the former, for the math simply does not favour those of the latter party. So, she tried to transition the subject, with a little sympathy thrown in. "Well, hay, it's not like you're a loser just because you don't ignore your own feelings forever, they're just a part of being alive. I mean, have you met Alice Hoofer? Dude might be the überpferd of heavy metal, but off-stage, the dude is zen." Of course, changing topics, or even excersizing tact, weren't things that Ignition usually did. Did the gryphon even like Alice Hoofer? Seriously, who didn't like "School's Out"?
6. (sorry for the late reply, moving killed my wifi for a while) Techno quickly turned to face the pony who had taken her mane tie. "Wait miss that's-" She was momentarily blinded by a flash from the camera as the bag was placed over her back. She raised a hoof up and rubbed her eye. "Wow that's bright." She shook her head causing her messy mane to shake and helped her long mane to settle in a more natural way. As the camera flashed and she realised what exactly was going on her eyes widened and she raised a hoof up to her face and backed away from Photo Finish. "Oh nonono Mrs. Finish I-" *FLASH* "I'm not a -" *FLASH* "Ma'am I'm not a model! I-I'm not even popular! *FLASH* "I think you have the wrong mare!" She nervously shook her bangs over her face in a desperate attempt to hide.
7. “ Local hounds usually rely on Stallian or Kanine. Can provide at least one of these.” Silversword watched the blacksmith carefully, idly wondering if his desire to help was for their good, or for his own. Did he believe that the two that offered to help him would run off with his product? Why, the very thought! Silver bristled slightly, but decided to go with the thought that the stallion trusted the pair and merely wanted to help them. Her head turned towards the armor-clad filly, watching as she introduced herself. Glancing over the armor, she noticed a great many dents in it, and it didn’t seem properly fitted to the filly. “Ah, so she wears the armor she means to return,” the mare thought to herself as she observed the two ponies in the room. “At least it’s somewhere she can keep an eye on it..” She snorted with laughter, forgetting herself for a second, before composing herself again. “No weapon, Kite?” She asked, standing. “You’ve gotten rather far without one. While it seems that you are best-suited to work with your armor..” She crouched slightly, getting to the filly’s level. “What do you think about carrying a weapon, just in case? I haven’t dealt with Diamond Dogs very much, but appearing to be a bigger threat than what you really are is rather useful.” The swordsmare glanced at the chocolate stallion. “Seeing as you seem eager enough to go, and strong enough..” Silver stretched out, wings shuffling under her cloak. “I would be glad if you came. You know the surrounding area better than either of us. As long as you can hold your own, we ought to be fine. Where would they stay for the night, however? It would take the blacksmith some time to complete fitting the filly, fixing her armor, and getting prepared for himself. Silversword could always go out and survey the area, check to see if she could get provisions somewhere (It would be tiresome work, walking all over in armor), or speak to other locals that were having issues as well, to see if they could offer any tips about Diamond Dogs. There was the language barrier, however, and the gray pegasus wasn't entirely sure that the ponies of Stalliongrad would take kindly to her "poking" about, in search of information. She sighed. The blacksmith wouldn't appreciate two ponies idling about his shop all day, and Silversword felt that there were things to be done. But how? Without a mutual language.. Unless Hammerhoof could help?
8. ~Lampwick "Flicker" Jane~ Dawn was just coating the frame of the mountains nearby, slowly covering and warming them like a warm blanket sweeping over the land. They glowed with the early attention, letting the warmth trickle over them, pour through the valleys and trails that wound between them, and fill the land with glinting morning dew. Through trees it wound, and eventually, it found the rustic building it had searched for. Sunlight painted the wall, bled into the window sills, overtaking the lone building in a warm flash, leaving it at the bottom of a river of morning sunshine as day continued to crash onward. Inside the top room of the wayward inn, dust motes danced around a lazy hoof hanging in the air- lazily floating and falling in the glow of morning as it beamed through the window. The lone hoof stretched out like a branch for the nearby bed, collecting the morning motes as they settled until finally, seemingly carrying one mote too many, the leg kicked- the motion sending the motes into a flurry of motion amidst the morning rays again. The motion had also shifted the haphazard layers of blankets that swathed, draped, hung, and covered the form beneath them. Bits of tan colored fur, hooves, and milk chocolatey-brown mane stuck out in seemingly impossibly array, making it difficult for anypony entering the room to believe another living pony resided within the tangled mass. The muffled sounds of snoring and sleep made it even harder to believe. The body shifted and snorted; and for a long moment that threatened to break the fragile morning peace the room held its breath. Even the rays of light held their place, shimmering, but afraid to move and risk waking the blanket-beast. An ear flicker here. Movement of a hoof there. The snuffle of a muzzle against pillows somewhere lost inside- then finally the rhythmic breathing of sleep filled the room again- the gentle rise and fall of the blankets found their pace, and the sifting through the window began to crawl along the floor again. It made its way across the small room taking over small inch by inch of the room as it stretched itself towards the wall. Finally dawn had reached the cusp of the wall, it had succeeded so far in making its way across the entire room without stirring the life within- and today, maybe today, was the day it would climb the wall before she woke up- just perhaps today would be the day that Lampwick slept in! Taking a moment to gather its strength, the dawn light seemed to take a cautioned breath of a pause- then it began to reach- just another fraction of an inch and it would climb the wall! It reached its tendrils upward toward the wall- and just as it began to shimmy up it a large shadow filled the room, completely obliterating its progress. With a mighty buck the tangled knot of blankets were expelled from the bed to fall unceremoniously against the far wall. Two hind-hooves stretched out into the middle of the room, one at a time, from elevated perch of the bed. Stretching turned into a few bounced kicks as Lampwick threw off the covers of sleep like they were but thin blankets. Letting out one telling yawn, the only suggestion she had slept at all, she shook her coat, mane and tail out, snapping the rest of her sleepy body into shape quicker than a Pegasus could stomp out a lightning bolt. Her ears perked and she did a few quick excited circles of chasing her tail while searching the room- finding her satchel tucked under a few stray blankets from the night she quickly nipped it up into her grasp and made her way to the door. Hoofing it open she almost bolted right through- but instead she gave a momentary pause to look back at the room that had been hers since she was a filly. There were many rooms in the inn- but this one would always be hers. The room was mostly plain- no different than the other rooms in the inn. Yet here and there was something ordinary, brought from some distant land. A remnant of a piece of fabric. A carving that hung on the wall. Most of these would mean nothing to most anypony; but here was where the few treasures Lampwick kept stayed. Home was always in her heart- she was always on the move and never settled for long; but here a few pieces of her heart stayed. Lampwicks eyes moved to a small box, that had lain open, exposing a small lock of mane tied together with a white ribbon. She gave the briefest of smiles- the kind that betrayed the emotion in her heart, before turning away from the room and hoofing her way down the stairs. Nopony else was awake yet, but her hooves thundered all the same down the short staircase. All she could think of was her plans for the day. She smiled again, this time a brave smile as thought to herself: “Day Three! Move Along Day!”
9. The night rolled in calm, softening the jagged edges of the mountains separating the Badlands from Greater Equestria, sweeping swiftly across the rolling fields of the Saddleveil Plains, draping its velvety blackness across the mountains of Roughrider Ridge, chilling the rocky expanse of the Painted Pinto Desert, and finally finishing its arc far across the sea somewhere west of Aquellia. Pallid phosphorescence from a million twinkling points of light bathed the Foothills in unearthly luminescence, from the cozy cottages of Solstice Heights up mountain roads and winding thoroughfares to the magnificent alabaster spires of the Equestrian capital. Atop a single gold-trimmed tower, guarded by concentric walls topped by steely-eyed sentries, something stirred. A lone equine stood at the apex deck of the tower, her mane flowing with otherworldly grace, wings folded neatly at her sides, and eyes fixed upon the glittering firmament above. The alicorn nodded ever so slightly in acknowledgement, smiling broadly as the stars danced above her. “You have done well, sister.” Celestia spoke softly, more for herself than anypony else. Surely Luna was out frolicking in the night by now, far out of earshot. Gently stepping down the stairs back to her private chambers, Princess Celestia stifled a yawn. It had been a trying day, filled with meetings, public appearances, and the busy trappings of royal life. As she entered, her horn glowed soft lavender, gently shutting her chamber doors behind her with flowing tendrils of aether. Faintly glowing wisps of lavender continued to float around her, weaving in and out of her mane, gently brushing her coat, and finally lifting her crown and mantle away, setting them upon the chamber’s dresser. Another flick of her horn and twist of the aether and the fireplace on the far wall burst to life, providing both dim illumination and subtly warming the cushion lying before it. Celestia stretched her great wings, moving them to their full extension before folding them back to her sides and gingerly laying down upon the cushion. As the fire warmed her flanks, the Sun Princess went about her familiar routine, brushing her mane and tail, preening her feathers, and finally floating over a bottle of her own private stock of Solstice Winery dandelion wine. Celestia hummed softly to herself as she uncorked the bottle and gently poured out a glass, careful not to spill it. Her evening routine complete, Celestia raised the glass to her lips and gingerly sipped, allowing the edgy, mildly bitter taste to roll over her tongue before swallowing. “Slightly sharper than before and the pollen is definitely there, but as always an excellent finish...” Celestia closed her eyes for a moment, reviewing the day’s events, but quickly decided them not worth dwelling upon. The alicorn tapped a hoof on her chin. A tiny thought at the edge of memory continued to nag at her. Whatever could it be? A smile crossed her face as she recalled exactly what she had been meaning to do all day. The aether tendrils reached out again, this time bringing back to Celestia a quill, ink, and stationery. Delicately lifting the quill on wisps of aether, the Sun Princess began to write. -------------------------------------- OOC: this thread is open to all players of the “Mane 6,” though I may occasionally pull in other characters to shake things up. The post format is as follows: a short exposition or anecdote from your character describing their day or their general mood as they write the letter followed by the letter itself. As this thread is freeform, you can be as meta as you want (even pony-fying events from your life to use) so long as the post itself is in character. That said, this is not an “ask Princess Celestia” tumblr. It’s more of a “dear Princess Celestia, my day went…” thread. Try to remember to be candid! It’s a letter, not homework! I will respond as I see fit and will occasionally introduce additional prompts to continue the thread. Ready? Set… WRITE.
10. (Holy gave me permission to „control” a bit his character in first post ^_^) Heart Shine was very excited for this night, her father agreed that she will can go outside of Appleloosa to have some fun, he had some business to do. Heart decided to prepare up her costume with friends, it was a skeleton costume. After couple days of work, she finally made it up. It looked like skeleton-pony, her father was very proud of her daughter cause costume looked very good and it fitted her little body. Finally this night came, Heart left her house with father to some other regions, but it wasn’t what she expected. Her father was busy with his work so he don’t spent time with her, Heart was very sad and disappointed that she don’t have any friends that she could spent time with. She started to move a bit sad across Festival Grounds, it was supposed to be one of her best night in year and it started to be one of the worse ever. Then, everything a b it changed. She saw a red pony Pegasus, who was in wonderbolt costume. He seemed to be alone aswell, but tried to do some stuff with apples. In Heart mind there came idea, she came to this pony when he was busy with apples in water. She finally approached him and jumped on his back with a little scary shout. Tobias jumped a bit up as he don’t expected to be scary by anyone, but then he looked at Heart Shine and smiled to her. Heart smiled back to him and looked at him. My name is Heart Shine Mr. Wonderbolt! I’m sorry to scary You off but You seems to be alone like me and I thought scary You will be a good idea. Do You wanna to spent time together? It can be awesome time and maybe somepony will join us too!
11. “Oh gods I’m late!” Diomedes scrambled madly around his apartment, half fluttering, half galloping, all bumbling, trying to find all of the things he was supposed to bring, if only he could REMEMBER where he put them! Late, late, late, late, late! Dio’s mind was flying at a million miles an hour. How could he have put this off? Why wasn’t any of his gear where he thought it was? Oh how was he going to explain this to Star Chaser? “Aha! Here we go!” He said as he grabbed two bags of trail mix and tossed them both at his open saddlebags. As he turned around to grab his canteens out of the cupboard, he heard a resounding crash as his office chair tipped over, dropping his saddlebags to the ground and spilling all of his collected gear on the floor. Dio facehoofed. “I hate… everything…” ****** As he touched down at the address he was given, Dio suppressed a nervous shiver. Perhaps he’d gone a little overboard. It was supposed to be a quick flight to the foothills near Solstice Heights followed by a hike through Whitetail Wood, but he’d already gone through the trouble of getting his mane trimmed and his flight feathers preened. His saddlebags were packed with trail mix, water, and some fresh fruit for a picnic in addition to his usual survival gear. He’d even called off work to ensure that he had time to spend with Star Chaser. Their correspondence since the gala had been sparse. Star had mentioned in her letters that the bindings had since been removed and that she was in physical therapy. In fact, when Dio had mentioned “hanging out” again, Star wrote back that her doctor encouraged it. The letters also stated that the lady Pegasus would be good to fly by the date Dio had set. Dio took a deep breath as he stepped up to the door, gently rapping on it with a hoof. “Here goes nothing…”
12. The white pegasus stood at the entrance to the Haunted House, her Juliet costume working out as best it could. Her blue eyes scanned the crowds coming and going around the attraction, a touch of fear in them. She was usually brave, but this was the one time of year she always dreaded. Her sisters usually protected her from the monsters that other ponies disguised themselves as, but this year was different. She had a stallionfriend to ask, and her twin had decided to spend her time elsewhere. Not that she was scared! No, not this filly, not at all! She was just...nervous. She made sure her costume fit properly and that her cutie mark was still covered before pacing where she stood. Why wouldn't she? She wasn't patient, and she had decided to do this...she just didn't want to do it alone. The pink and red mane fell into her eyes for a second before she brushed away the strands in agitation. "Where are you, my Romeo? I really, really don't want to go in alone...for that matter, why can't there be a group of us? Safety in numbers and the like..." She muttered softly, shivering as she imagined going in alone. She had very nearly lost her nerve then!
13. Trillium was trotting along a sun-dappled path, humming softly to herself, a basket full of cookies attached to the side of her small saddle. Later, in the summer, the trees leaves would fill in a lot more and this part of the woods would be in deep shade. But this time of the year the leaves were small, and the spotted light was so fetching on her pelt. It was the perfect day for a "chance" encounter. The pale green pony had brushed her coat, mane and tail until they gleamed, and put a fresh trillium, the flower she was named after, behind her ear. She was in a great mood, joyous and playful. She knew that the stallion she was secretly in love with, her very good friend River Birch would be checking on the new birch cones among the trees. SO she was conveniently wandering this part of the woods, with of all things the very cookies he loved most of all. She heard some twigs snap nearby, so she looked up. On the crest of the hill she saw a dark shadow that resembled a stallion. She whistled. The figure did not respond. "Oh, River Birch, I know you're just tryin' to fool me, but I know it's you, so you can just stop it right now" She called out in an amused tone, rearing up playfully. "If you don't, I'm not making you cookies anymore!" She broke into a gallop and nimbly dodged tree roots that crisscrossed the path to greet her friend. Trillium froze, mid-gallop. This pony wasn't River Birch, not at all. This stranger was huge, dark and strong, and Trillium was just a little afraid!
14. One day, in Ponyville, Twilight tried to get Applejack's attention. "Con Sarnit!" Applejack had just realized she forgot her engagement with Twilight Sparkle. But she had no time for it now, for she had to get back to the farm for something urgent. "I'm real sorry, Twilight. I need to hurry about somethin'. Don't worry, heh, I'll be right back" Applejack hurried herself over to Sweet Apple Acres. How could she be so forgetful? She was so worried about Granny Smith's whereabouts that she completely forgot to pull her apple cake from the oven. The cake was surely burnt. But Applejack was just hoping that that was all the trouble her day would have. She was not prepared for the moments that would soon to pass. For on this day where Applejack seemed to forget everything, the events would soon turn to unforgettable. As she ran up the hill on the south side of Ponyville where she can get a glimpse of the farm from afar, she saw a pillar of black smoke rising from the top of the barn. "Land sakes! There's a fire in the barn!" Applejack hurried towards the farm to try to savior the estate's most prominent building. "We already had to cut a big whole in our budget rebuilding the barn after those pesky parasprites ate it all. I'm not gonna lose the barn this time," she determined. She had hoped that Big Macintosh was already trying to put the fire out. But since the fire has already started, it was possible he was away on business as well. As Applejack pulled around the front of the entryway to the farm, she could see the damage already done. The barn had yet to be engulfed. But it was gonna take a strong effort to keep the fire from spreading to the rest of the property. The fire was spreading from the second floor of the barn, where they had a storage area with the normal fixin's a farming family would have. Fortunately, the place where the family members sleep, the Carrot Cottage, was untouched. Map of Sweet Apple Acres: http://fc08.devianta...esh-d3ki8nj.png courtesy of Aurebesh from deviantART.
