  1. Hello! This is my first-ever RP, and I want to make it count! It's a worldbuilder for my OC's personality. I'm looking for any Trottingham residents, a pony please, and hopefully one with a warm disposition, but can be confused rather easily. Not ditzy confused, but sort of the pony to go "huh?" when someone talks too fast. I'll PM you the details if I can get anyone to apply. So remember: If your character: lives in Trottingham; is a pony; is sweet and warm; and is prone to confusion in awkward situations (optional); please comment here with a link to your character's app. Cheers, and thanks so much! ~ping111
  2. Alright, so like a couple of the other latest threads in here, I have a pair of characters who could use some extra threads. The first is a Kelpie by the name of Jack O'Lantern. He's a trickster type and good for all manner of lightheartedness and such. The main limitation is that he'd need to be in a thread near water, which makes the actual thread-getting with him a touch difficult. For reference, he lives in the Nimbusgait Lakes, but can end up pretty much anywhere with water nearby. The second is a Caped Colt-sader! Well, at least he likes to think he is. Little Neon Stargazer took on the superhero identity of Nighthoof and is ardent in his journey to help everypony he can. the only problem is that he’s not a very good superhero and generally makes a fool of himself whenever he tries to save somepony (with a few exceptions that drive him onward). Despite his extracurricular activities, Neon is a regular old schoolcolt, so he can be in anything of a non-heroic nature as well. Again, pretty much any idea here folks! And, if any of my other characters catch your fancy, don't hesitate to float an idea about your OC and one of them as well. The more threads the merrier!
  3. Hey thar, new comer Spice here! I was pondering something whilst making my Mane RP app. The question has probably been asked before, but I ask you to humor me. I understand that Crossover characters can't be used the Mane RP forum (for obvious reasons), but what about the other way around. If I fancied a Crossover RP with a bit of a change, could I use my Mane RP character in there? Thankies for the help! :3
  4. Name: Miles Quillworth (called Quills) Sex: male Age: stallion (young) Species: Unicorn Coat Color: pale green Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: dark green, worn mid long, and styled up Eye Color: light blue Cutie Mark: Scroll and quill Physique: slender, of average height Origin: Manehatten Roleplay Type: Mane RP Occupation: Organizer Motivation: Wants to use his special talent to make it big in the world of art Likes: order, lists, schedules, the arts, fashion, classical music Dislikes: Disarray, laziness, aimlessness, failure Character Summary: Seemingly stern and a bit hazy, Quills is at his happiest when under stress. When not under pressure he shows a very different side of himself, taking his time to take in the perfect order of a piece of art or a good book, or even a new musical composition. Background Story: Quills was born as the only foal of a family of printers. His grandfather had bought one of the early movable type printing presses and had opened the first print shop in Manehatten. It was a smashing success, and his parents had inherited the business. They worked hard, but the competition grew from year to year. Quills lived a very sheltered foalhood in his parents house in Manehatten. From an early age, he showed a weird sense of order and tidiness. His parents grow worried that something was wrong with him, as he didn't make friends easily at all. It got better eventually, as he opened up to the other colts and fillies and became less critical of the minor disorder around him. It was about that time that Quills showed increased interest in art. He had scribbled ever since his childhood, but nothing had ever come from it. Now, he started to spend a lot of his free time looking at art prints his parents had lying around as reference material for potential costumers. His parents were puzzled by that, since most of the printed pictures looked chaotic and blotchy, sometimes splats of paint put seemingly at random on the canvas. But to Quills, it looked different. As he tried to explain to them once, he sees a hidden order in them. Each splat of color and every brush line followed rules and created a bigger whole. His parents were hard working and honest, but they never had much appreciation for the arts. When was still a foal, business began to get tougher and tougher. There were many printing shops nowadays, some with better equipment and more staff, but their shop was still a well known name all around the town. So it came one day that they got a huge order by the local university library to make printed versions of several old manuscripts that had been restored recently, but were to delicate to be handed out to just anyone. Mr. Quillsworth, his father, knew instantly that it was near impossible for them to fill the order in time, but he took it anyway. He had to if he wanted to stay in business. Days later, the shop filled up with mount and mounts of papers, most of them bundled, some loose piles. His parents began work immediately, making good progress. They were sure if they got to a certain point, they would be able to ask for an extension of the deadline. However, disaster struck. In the midst of work, by accident, someone toppled one of the stacks of papers, and in a chain reaction, soon all of the ground was covered in loose sheets. It was already late that day, and Mr Quillworth would have to face the fact that he would have to explain tomorrow morning to the university that he had just thrown back the research by several years. At night, Quills snuck out of his room, and down into the shop. He didn't quite know why, but his horn had led him here. It was faintly glowing now, and Quills was very tired. He would later have no recollection of what had happened down here. When his parents came down into the shop, something wondrous had happened. All the papers were stacked up again, even more neatly then before. Not only that, but as they looked along the walls, the empty printing frames on the walls were filled with letters now. Quills had used all the movable types in the shop, and had then collapsed in the middle of the room, sleeping. Around him lay hoofwritten pieces of paper, most of them looked like scribbles, but on a closer look, you could see they were lists in small letters. To their surprise, Quills's cutie mark had appeared, a scroll of paper and a quill. Not only was this an amazing moment for Quills, but it also meant he could help his parents fill the order quick enough to meet the deadline. With his new-found talent, the printing shop sprawled once again, and Quills refined his magic further and further. However something was nagging him. He didn't want to do this for all his life. He wanted to get out into the world, and follow his true passion, the arts. For years now, he had spend all his free time and his allowance cultivating himself. He had visited the opera, the theater, different art galleries and readings. He had also picked up painting, but although his mother was very supportive of it, he knew himself that his paintings weren't anything special. After years of reading up on art history, seeing all the great pony artists of his time, being a regular guest at the opera house, and soaking up every piece of art theory he could get his hooves on, he still wasn't able to do it. Not here, in the boundaries of his parents business. Something had to be done. He'd have to leave, and try to make his own out there in the world. His father was not pleased by the thought, since he was such an asset for the shop, but he knew he couldn't hold him back. Quills had trained some of the newer staff members, and they caught on the his magic rather quickly. They would be fine. Quills packed his few belongings, and the bits he had saved over the year, and set out, to make his fortune. meh picture, but it gives an impression where I want to go with him visually.
  5. Name: Green Flash Sex: Male Age: Stallion Species: Pegasus Coat Color: Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Wavy and somewhat wispy, like some of his mane and tail break off when they get to a certain length. Eye Color: Deep reddish orange Cutie Mark: What looks like a stack of concentric, multicolored pancakes. It's actually a representative of an illusory phenomena called a green flash. Physique: A little oddly pear shaped. Has a rather larger rump and hind legs compared to the front half of him. He wears lots of flashy accessories to mask this. Origin: Formerly Cloudsdale, currently near Mt. Firefoal Roleplay Type: mane RP Occupation: Astronavigator Motivation: Eventually to circumnavigate the planet and discover far off lands. Right now, to try to make money to fund such an expedition. Likes: Piracy. He LOVES piracy, and romanticizes it to a degree that he is ineffectual. He also likes tinkering with things, exploring, the sea, the sky, and actually, there's not a whole lot he doesn't gleefully love. Dislikes: Hardtack. For obvious reasons. Ponies who don't try to dress fashionably, or at least in keeping with his rather warped opinion on what is fashionable. Character Summary: Green Flash was born on the outskirts of Cloudsdale to two rather unremarkable weather pegasai, but he was always an odd sort of pony. As a foal, he refused to try to learn to fly, or even scoot along on a scooter like many pegasus foals do until their wings are strong enough to bear their weight. He would just splay atop a light cloud, and kick himself through the more dense clouds like he was on a floating pool toy in water. The little green pegasus would often be fascinated by the pools that the rainbows flowed into, often making little boats out of paper and wisps of clouds to float among the prismatic colors. Of course, often the boat would disintegrate in the spiciness of the rainbow if the paper wasn't thick enough* As he got older, the dreaming didn't end. As a colt, still not able to fully use his wings he would still hug a particularly light cloud to propel himself around. Down to earth to skim the water, up into the stratosphere so high he could barely breathe, as long as his parents could see him, even just a speck of him, they let him pretty much go as high or low as he wanted with his cloud, (which he named Wilfred Von Cumulus, and pretended it spoke to him in a Trottingham accent). And since he had the support and had learned to maneuver it vertically through the atmosphere from an early age, while the rest of his peers were trying to actually fly from cloud to cloud, he became quite adept at knowing exactly how high he is from sea level at all times, and became excellent at navigating by the stars and quality of light with the seasons. Even as he approached Stallionhood, he kept up this habit of using a cloud as support, despite being fully able to fly. It wasn't as if he personally needed a security blanket for emotional reasons or anything: in fact he was a gregarious cut-up without a care in the world, but the odd habit just persisted until he found his very first ship, which he dubbed the Rocinante, and made him decide to pursue a life of piracy until he could fund a voyage beyond the horizon. Green Flash is a flamboyant, and mostly ineffectual pirate. As a middle aged stallion he has not lost his foalish curiosity in the world around him. He almost never shuts up in a social situation, but has a relatively kind heart when he's not trying to swindle somepony. He's the life of the party wherever he goes, and despite being rather eccentric, odd-looking, and extremely clumsy on land, he is quite popular with the mares. To meet him, you would not assume at first glance that he is particularly clever, which he does use to his advantage. The Rocinante:** What was once a tiny, dilapidated 3-pony fishing vessel he found washed on the beach, Green Flash has specially equipped the Rocinante with an extra-large sail, and a few secret weapons to give him an edge on the water. In particular, the tiny ship is rigged so that it can become a hot-air balloon/airship like contraption, filled up on a steam vent on Mt. Fire Foal, and kept aloft by a fire in the reinforced crow's nest. It's also equipped with a tandem bicycle-like contraption that runs a propeller on the back; used to increase speed on land or in the air. Green Flash can only use this when he has a crew. For effect he usually draws clouds to the underside of the ship, to make it appear as if it's being carried by them. Sometimes, for stealth he will disguise the ship in its entirety in cloudcover. This is one reason he has difficulty securing and keeping a crew. Simply put, few self-respecting pirates will put up with occasionally being bedazzled by stray sequins. 6. (ooc): In anticipation of a possible future "Sisterhooves" special event, here is a sister! Name: Haymaker Sex: Female Age: Mare Species: Earth Pony Coat Color: White Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Medium Length Mane, Long Tail, both red Eye Color: Light Blue Cutie Mark: Boxing Glove Physique: Stout Origin: Nimbusgait Lakes Roleplay Type: Mane RP Occupation: Hay Farmer/Worker Motivation: “To run the family farm” Likes: Hay, Cooking, Hard Work, “A good fight”, life on the farm Dislikes: Disrespect, ‘froo froo girly things’, wimpy ponies, ponies who bully other ponies Character Summary: Haymaker is Hayseed’s and Haywire’s sister. From a very young age, like her brother, Haymaker demonstrated a love for the family hay farm and a desire to make the farm successful. Growing up, the spry foal also showed a propensity for something else: fighting. In school, she and her brother were often picked on for the way they talked and dressed. While Hayseed was easy going about it, Haymaker was not. Every once in a while she’d get into a fight with her classmates over the teasing. One of her early teachers once remarked, “Haymaker’s a nice filly, but there are times she would fight at the drop of a hat and often, she’d drop the hat herself!” One day, Haymaker took it upon herself to defend a group of younger foals who were getting picked on by four bigger bully ponies. She tried to reason with them but when that didn’t work, she was attacked by all four at once. Amazingly, the farm filly beat them all up, sending all four of them home crying for their mothers. After the big fight, Haymaker was stunned to see that her cutie mark came in, and it was a boxing glove! Her parents were horrified by it, but Hayseed and little foal Haywire thought it was COOL! Haymaker’s not a brawler, but she won’t back away from a challenge or allow anyone to push her or her family around. In time, Haymaker took over the day to day operations on the farm. With her brother making the sales and deliverying hay on his wagon, Haymaker keeps things organized on the farm. Older now and more mature, Haymaker doesn’t have the ‘short fuse’ she had in her youth. She still believes in fighting for the rights of others, though now she uses her words more often than her hooves. Her ‘fighting’ past does bother her a bit, but it’s part of who she is and she’s at peace with that. In addition to this, Haymaker plays the fiddle in the family band.
  7. Name: Opal Shards (stage name: Killer Frost) Sex: female Age: mare (mid 20s) Species: pegasus Pelt Color: brilliant white Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: different shades of blue, long Eye Color: red Cutie Mark: a shard of ice Physique: unusually tall, well trained. Origin: Roughrider Ridge Roleplay Type: Mane RP Occupation: Shadowbolt reserve Motivation: Earning bits with her flight talent and weather manipulation Likes: Bits, independence, cold weather, mountains Dislikes: flat land, draughts, heat Character Summary: Disheartened and bitter from her time in Cloudsdale, Opal Shards in only ever happy in the freezing cold. She doesn't talk much and tends to think little about the ponies around her, but she is loyal and honest (sometimes to a fault), and always works hard for her craft. Origins: Where she came from nopony knows. On a routine flight, a weather team found young Opal, still a little filly in an oasis close to the outskirts of the Roughrider Ridges. There were no settlements in a several hour flight radius, and after waiting for some hours, the leader of the weather team, an aging mare by the the name of Stormy Days decided to take the Filly with them. She didn't seem to want to stay there anyway, and was very weak. They decided to call her Opal Shards, because of the curious way her mane naturally curled, resembling crystals. They brought her back to their weather station: a series of lodges in the Roughrider Ridges. It was very secluded and only populated by a handful of pegasi who took care of all the weather around the mountain. Mail and supplies were brought in by monthly couriers. Stormy Days decided to keep Opal around. In the desert, it would be impossible to find her parents, and she always wanted a filly of her own, but never have had a chance to bear a foal herself. Her job up here in the mountains was well paid, but didn't allow for much of a social life. The others didn't object. It was rare for anything interesting to happened here in the mountains, so this was particularly exciting for all of them. For the first few months, Opal didn't talk at all. They didn't know if she hadn't learned how to talk yet, or if she perhaps didn't trust them, because all she did was staring at them, all the time. She observed everything they did around the station with keen eyes, which, coincidentally, made it very easy to look after her. She never wandered off or left the proximity of the camp. However, all that would change when winter came. Out in the desert, it wasn't such a big deal, but here in the mountains, it was a busy time for the weather teams. Lacking the big weather factories of Cloudsdale, the weather team instead had to rely on other means to start the winter. There were powders to fill the clouds with water and to cool the atmosphere, and they had perfected different flying techniques to bind the clouds together to black out the sun. Although looking indifferent at first, once the first snow fell, Opal couldn't be stopped. She jumped around in the cold, catching snow with her tongue and rolling around in the snow. For the first time, they saw her happy. Stormy Days was delighted, and even more so a few weeks later, when Opal showed growing interest in her trade. And so Stormy Days taught Opal in the art of weather manipulation. She was an eager learner, and showed big talent with the mixing of the different powders used by the weather teams outside the heartland. Not only that, but she was a natural flyer, too, learning to fly before the end of the winter. Now that she spoke, Stormy Days tried to ask her about where she came from, but with no results. Either she didn't remember, or she didn't want to talk about it, but either way, Stormy Days would never know. All facets of weather manipulation fascinated Opal. However, she was only really happy in the cold, and longed all year for the return of winter. So much so that one night, Opal sneaked out of her hut, and made her way to the nearest mountain top, to the snow border. Once the coldness crept back into her body, she felt alive like never before. There was little to no wind up there, and she flew up, soaring through the icy winds. It took the weather team hours to find her. She felt very cold, but was more lively then they had ever seen her. Stormy Days explained to her how dangerous her actions were but Opal wanted to hear nothing about it. Only when she heard how worried they all had been did she give in, and promised never to just run off again. In all the chaos, they almost didn't notice that Opal's cutie mark had appeared: a pointy shard of ice. And so the years past, and Opal grew into a big, strong mare, helping out the weather team, and waiting for them when they went on their routine flights. She sometimes went out to the mountain top with a tent and some equipment, just to be close to the cold. Stormy Days wasn't too happy about that. It was dangerous out there in the Roughrider Ridges all alone for a young mare. That's why she started to work on a little side project. One day, in the midst of summer, it started to snow outside Opal's window. She stormed out to find that there was a cloud over her hut, snowing down and covering it in white. She was confused, but when she thought about it and saw Stormy Days flying over her hut, she realized: Stormy Days had found a way to make snow clouds in every season. And not only that, but she would teach her how it worked. It was a very careful variation of the formulas the weather team used all the time. However, she made it clear to Opal that she had to be careful with this technique, since it could influence the natural seasons. Now that she didn't have to leave the camp anymore to have the cold around her, she was happier then ever. She would casually lower the temperature around her, even in the winter, but the team didn't mind, since it made her so happy. And aside from that, she worked hard, and delivered excellent results when helping the team. However, it occurred to Stormy Days that the life of the weather team wouldn't be enough for Opal. She saw that she longed for more, and she showed a lot of talent and promise. Stormy Days decided to send her to Cloudsdale, sending her to the central, so that she could learn even more about the weather, and maybe become part of one of their flight crews. So Opal set out, under lots of tears, to find her destiny. She traveled to Cloudsdale, heading straight for the weather center. However, without the credentials that are customary among the citizens of Cloudsdale, nopony was willing to give her a chance to prove herself. Luckily, the letter Stormy Days had written for her brought her a job in one of the cloud factories, where she would work for some time. It was hard work, which she didn't mind so much, but it was terribly monotonous. The pay was bad, and for the first time, she had to buy her own food. She lived in a small room in the worker district of Cloudsdale. On her tiny desk under her window, she carefully kept on working on the formulas she had learned from the weather team of the mountains. Opal hoped that one day, she would be given the chance to show her findings to her superiors, but that day would never come. She could hardly afford the raw materials needed for her experiments anyway, and had already started to hoof some of the stuff she needed from the factory, which was starting to get dangerous. She felt miserable, but she didn't want to crawl back to her family; she didn't want to fail Stormy Days, the mare who had shared her rations with her for years, and spent her free time making her happy. She wrote a letter every month to the weather station, but she left out the bad parts. It would only worry her family. She realized that she would need bits in order to live the life she wanted. Her talents were wasted here, she knew that, and she searched for a solution. It was then that she heard of the Wonderbolts, an esteemed group of pegasi, the finest fliers in all of Equestria. Surely they didn't have to worry about food and shelter. And so she started to train for the tryouts, continuing to work on her cold manipulations, learning how to shape hail and snow in the air and improve her flight capabilities. The great day finally came. She woke up at dawn and waited in front of the tryout area, eager to show the routine she had worked on for so long. When her number came up, she flew up, preparing the clouds and watching in delight as the judges and the other competitors shivered. She flew complex figures around the clouds, compressing the frozen water in the clouds and causing a hailstorm in her wake. However, this is where it all went wrong: she had never tried it on such a large scale before, and although confident, she lost control. The iceshards she had formed in the clouds started to rain down on the onlookers. She wanted to suspend them in the air with little swirls of wind, but it was just too much. The Wonderbolts interveened and pulled her out of the sky. Opal was furious, and hadn't even noticed the mayham she had almost caused. She barely listened to what they told her, something about "raw talent" and "lack of discipline". She stormed off and buried herself under her pillows at home. The Wonderbolts would never accept her, she was sure of that. She would find a way to make bits with her talent, no matter what it took. Days later, Opal found an anonymous letter under her door. 'Maybe this is my chance to make a big break' she thought. She asked around, and soon found her way to the up and starting new flight team, the Shadowbolts. They were holding tryouts near the outskirts of the Everfree Forest. Without skipping a beat, she quit her job and made her way to the tryouts. After watching a few of the other competitors, it was finally her turn. Her performance at the Wonderbolts tryout had earned her this chance, so Opal decided to eleborate on her previous routine. This time, things went far better. She deepend the already creepy atmosphere of Everfree Forest by lowering the temperature even further. Then she proceeded to swell the clouds with water, swirling through them, collecting hail and snow in her wake. She hadn't gotten to this point the last time, but now she would be able to show her masterpiece. Flying in circles, Opal created localized cyclones that suspended icecrystals in the air, forming small crystaline structures. She then proceeded by pushing the individual cyclones together, forming a huge, sharp-looking ice sculpture, still spinning in the air. She then reversed the cyclone, bringing it to a halt, with her beneath it. As the ice fell to the ground, she raced down to the ground in front of it, stopping right before the floor, right underneath the only hole in the structure. She flaoted a few inches in the air, as ice spike stuck into the grass around her. She was sure it looked impressive, and it was very controlled overall. She had guided the structure with flight wind, and although she had never tried it on this scale before, she didn't even flinch as shards of ice just barely missed her head. She was put on the newly formed team. It was dangerous work, but the pay was great, and she could finally afford all the materials she needed for her experiments. And best of all, she didn't have to worry about food or keeping a roof over her head any longer. She left that part out of her letters to Stormy Days, this would worry her for sure, and that was the last thing Opal wanted. But overall, life was good again. Addendum: Established Powders: Atmospheric Cooler: White, crystalline substance that is sprinkled into the air, and then in combination with wind lowers the surrounding temperature. Used a lot, because Opal is only really comfortable in the cold. Cloud Humidifier: light blue powder used to increase the moisture in clouds. Almost never used without the Atmospheric Cooler.
  8. Name: Milky Quartz Sex: female Age: young mare Species: Pegasus Pelt Color: brilliant white Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: mid long pinkish with red Eye Color: orange Cutie Mark: A sandcoloured whirl Physique: slender, but wiry Origin: Painted Pinto Desert Roleplay Type: Mane Occupation: drifter, and kind of a scoundrel Motivation: Finding her place in the world Likes: Flying, freedom, the desert Dislikes: cities, hard work, being crossed Character Summary: Not neccessary a very social person, Milky usually tries to stay away from crowds. She is really only happy when flying. Ever since leaving her family, she never made any real friends. Her goal at the moment is to find her mother, who got separated from the rest of her family after her birth. Origin Story: The nomads who travel along the Painted Pinto Desert warn their children from wandering into the sands. They say the wind in the desert is so strong that it carries away stray objects, and sometimes even sheep or Ponies. They blame it on mystical flying creatures, who live in the sky, invisible to the naked eye. Little do they know that those occurrences are actually the work of a family of Pegasi. Milky was born into the Quartz clan, a Pegasi family native to the Painted Pinto Desert. Since the desert lacks clouds most of the year, these Pegasi instead call a huge rock Massive in the middle of the desert their home. Since the openings to the caverns inside of it are only reachable with wings, it's virtually unknown to the other inhabitants of the sands. However, since the rocks and even the oasis near the Massive don't allow for much agriculture (aside from some edible mushrooms in the deeper caverns), the Quartz clan instead runs raids on the caravans and settlements around the desert, creating sand storms with their wings, and stealing what they need to survive. Most Ponies are completely unaware of this. When Milky was still a little Filly, her mother left the Massive, for reasons nopony in the clan ever lost a word, but she barely noticed until she got older. Growing up in a big family, all her aunts and uncles looked after the fillies together, and so the question never came up. She showed very early an eagerness to learn how to fly, and indeed was the first among her siblings to learn how to fly. It was then that her character seemed to change. Milky spend less time with the other fillies, and started to push to join the raids. Of course, her father was reluctant, seeing how young she still was, but she learned so fast that it was unthinkable to hold her back anymore. And so, on her 13th birthday, her father presented to her her first set of flight goggles and an own breather, a wooden contraption the Quartz clan members would were to protect them from breathing in the sand they swirled up. She knew instantly what that meant. She would join the next raid. The day was finally there. Milky spread her wings, as the other Pegasi took starting formation on the top of the rock. As the winds blew under her wings, she felt exhilarated. They took off, in the direction of one of the bigger oasis near the rim of the desert. As they drew closer, they started to fly spirals, carrying the sands with them. They formed a sandstorm, just she had practised. It felt so right. Now that she was out here, in the desert, she knew that this was her destiny, and sure enough, her cutie mark appeared, but she took no notice of it for now, too amazing was her first real flight. They swirled into the oasis, and sure enough, all the ponies fled into their tents, leaving unattended lots of supplies around the campsite. Some Pegasi stayed in the air, keeping up the wind, while the others scooped down, picking up loose food and packages around. It had worked like a charm, and that for years. They made sure to just take enough to live, always, it was a matter of pride. What they didn't know was that not all Ponies went inside the tents when their raid started. One of the fillies had taken refuge under one of the big canvas covers that held the trade goods in place. She didn't see much, but did catch a glimpse of Milky, soaring around the sky, too caught up in thrill of flight to pay attention to her cover. Luckily enough, noone believed her, but they did set up a wanted poster, together with an illustration based on her description. Nothing ever came from it, up to now. As they returned to the stony caverns, Milky finally noticed her cutie mark, a sandcoloured whirl, visible on her brilliant white hide. From that point forward, it was hard to keep her on the ground at all. For years, Milky went on raids with her family, performing admirably with the flight teams, but barely pulling her weight around the caverns. When not in the air, She seemed distant and lazy. Her father was very worried. He suspected this had something to do with her missing mother. So he sat her down one day and they had a long talk, and although he couldn't tell her where her mother was now, Milky gathered that she left shortly she gave birth to her, and never made contact with the clan after that. She was most likely still around the desert, since she always loved the weather around these parts, but that was all. Except for a single black and white photography, yellowed by time and sunlight, that her father had kept all those years. He gave it to her. They looked remarkably alike. She had made her decission. She would leave the Massive, and search for her mother. She was a mare now, and well capable to take care of herself. And so she made her way to the next town, seeking her destiny. Thanks so much, Jay.
  9. Name: Seeker Sex: Male Age: Stallion Species: Pony Pelt Color: Dark Grey Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: short and sturdy, brown Eye Color: light grey Cutie Mark: two broken, light grey gears with a yellow lighting bolt Physique: Well built, now out of training Origin: Nomad family, Painted Pinto Desert Roleplay Type: Mane Occupation: Former self-proclaimed archaeologist, tinkerer (both self-taught) Motivation: Finding traces of forgotten civilizations, and their supposed machinery Likes: New things, engines and machines of all kinds, his dog, adventure, ruins Dislikes: stagnation, vanity, trickery Character Summary: Although he usually seems slightly preoccupied and grumpy, Seeker is always glad to help anypony. When exploring ruins, though, he seems like a completely different pony altogether. He becomes ecstatic and can't be bothered with worldly problems. That rarely happens, though. Origin Story: Born into a family of nomadic shepherds, young Seeker traveled with his family, leading the sheep to the meager vegetation growing between the Painted Pinto Desert and the mountain outskirts of the Raptorclaw canyon. The Shepherds and their dogs would protect the sheep from the dangerous creatures of the mountains, and seek for water and grass, and as a payoff would harvest the sturdy wool of the sheep, using their unicorn magic to spin it into yarn, which they would then sell in the towns along their route. They entertained trade relationships with ponies, buffalo and even the griffins from time to time. From a very young age, Seeker was driven by a curiosity, leading him in dangerous situations. He would wander off sometimes, drawn to place far away, towards the mountains that outlined the track. Luckily both his parents and the various herding dogs around the caravans kept a close eye on him. As he grew older, his interest for machinery started to bloom as his family taught him the use of the portable spinning wheels, refining his telekinetic capabilities operating them. He quickly picked up basic woodwork proficiencies, helping with repairs. One day, as he was playing with his siblings in the mountain outskirts near the encampment, all of the sudden he felt the draw again, leading him away from his siblings. Not properly paying attention to his step, the inevitable happened. Seeker stumbled and fell in a hole in the ground, landing in a small cavern under a heath. It was there Seeker came to his senses, as he felt a sharp pain in his hind leg. It was broken. Unable to walk properly, he lay down, scared and alone. Seeker wondered how far away he was from the camp. He tried to cry for help, but his voice was low, and he had little hope anyone would hear him. And for the better, probably, since dangerous creatures roamed the mountains. As he looked about, he seemed to notice lines in the stony surfaces around him, but he was far to hungry to concentrate. He saw that in the light coming through the hole he fell into, grew a little patch of grass. With all his strength, Seeker stumbled towards the grass. Now that he came closer, he saw that the grass wasn't the only thing in the shimmer of light. Underneath the straws, a round metallic object, about the surface of hoof print, glimmered in the light. As Seeker tapped it with his hoof, it sounded curiously empty. Hunger, pain, fear, Seeker couldn't be bothered by them anymore now. His magic overtook all his senses, and seemed to sense the inside of the weird object. He sensed tiny metal parts, interconnected in a familiar but endlessly more complicated. He forgot time, absent mindedly gnawing on the little patch of vegetation right in front of him, while moving he metal object with his telekinesis. Eventually, fatigue overcame Seeker, and he fell asleep. As he woke up he was back in the camp. His parents told him that they searched for hours for him and almost lost hope, if it hadn't been for Blacky, one of the shepherd dogs, that lead them to the hole. He had slept for 3 whole days. While Seeker tried to remember what happened, he looked around the hay bed that his parents fashioned in the shadow of one of the wagons, and found what he was looking for. The metal object lay there, carefully placed on piece of cloth. He was told that when they found him, he was still firmly holding it in his maw, unwilling to leave it behind. He noticed a weak ticking sound filling the air, and he realized it was the object. He inspected it like he saw it for the first time properly. On the top side, an intricate set of spirals and lines was engraved, and at one end, a little chain was connected to it. There seemed to be a lid, but it was firmly shut. Seeker looked up to his parents, and noticed they had a puzzled expression. So he followed their eyes to his flank, which, to his amazement, wasn't blank anymore. It now showed two broken light grey gears, and a lightning bolt between them. He knew what he would do with his life. He would travel around, searching for lost objects like this one, and tracing their origin. Although his parents had hoped he would follow the family tradition, they were very supporting of his new passion. He stayed with the herd until he was old enough to travel the land on his own, and after a heartfelt goodbye, Seeker went into the mountains, taking with him Blacky, the dog, and a set of saddle bags fashioned from the wool his family produced. He would travel far through the mountains, letting his horn lead him, and indeed finding traces of civilization, but to his frustration never anything more substantial then the object already in his possession. Still hopeful, though, he decided to travel outside the mountain range towards the center of Equestria, for he heard that there were comprehensive libraries near in the central cities. Maybe there he would be able to find a new lead. He continued studying the object, going so far as to dismantle and rebuild it several times, never really understanding what it actually does. He now earns his income repairing wagons and wooden machines and doing basic metal- and leather-works. He mostly sleeps under the stars and lives from the land as far as possible. One thing that never crossed his mind, though, is that maybe his special talent isn't finding lost civilizations (although he has a certain talent for it) but rather repairing broken machinery. Note: the object would look like a large pocket watch, with spirals and line engraved on the lid. It might very well be a remnant of a lost civilisation, one thing is for certain: It's absolutely 100% useless. I would like to stress that.
  10. Sir Virtue Librum and Council be damned. I have pledged my allegiance to Celestia Invictus and that pledge still stands whether I fight alone or with my Brother Cavaliers! Name: Sir Virtue, former knight of the Holy Order of the Destriers Sex: Male Age: Stallion Species: Pegasus Coat Color: Bone white (#F6EDC6) coat with rust-colored (#AC2B0C) fetlocks. Rust-colored blaze. Rust-colored stripes occur in tight triplet bands just below his shoulders on his upper front legs. Pinion feathers are also rust. Mane/Tail Color & Style: Rust-colored mane with alternating stripes of bone white. Mane is kept trimmed very short. Tail is solid rust color and allowed to grow longer. Eye Color: Green. Cutie Mark: The scales of justice balanced on the point of a sword-- a reminder that even in a world of peace and balance, a knight must remain ready to defend his values with sharpness of wit, strength of resolve, and if necessary, force of arms. Physique: Tall and lean, the product of martial training with the Destriers as a knight of the order. Origin: Grew up in Solstice Heights. Was assigned to various locations across Greater Equestria. Currently traveling. Occupation: Former Knight of the Holy Order of the Destriers. Traveling swordsman on a journey of self-rediscovery. Works odd jobs here and there for personal upkeep. Motivation: Continue to serve the Princess and the Destriers, bringing positive change to the order. Reclaim his honor in the eyes of his Brother Cavaliers. Virtue is not naturally petty, though he does hold some degree of resentment to the Council for ousting him as they did. Thus revenge is always in the back of his mind, though he does his best to purge it from his thoughts. Likes: Hoofington Pale Ale, mead, proper swordplay, ponies with heart, good flying weather, ice cream, tea, fireflies, pineapple Dislikes: Dogmatic ponies, bullies, injustice, sloppy work, being made a fool of, defeatism and quitters, excessive debauchery, cockroaches Character History Virtue is the latest in a long line of nobles to have served in the Holy Order of the Destriers. His family is well known for being devout followers of the Librum Dextrarius, with several elders serving on the High Council. The younger members of the family were expected to take up the mantle of Knight of the Order, becoming Brother Cavaliers in service to the order and the Princess. Like his biological brothers, Virtue had little idle time, training with the other colts in the art of sword when he was not religiously studying the text of the Librum Dextrarius. Virtue was soon found to be dexterous of hoof and strong of heart. His martial skills and his determination to succeed catapulted him to the top of his class in both martial and academic studies. Eventually, he earned the right to call himself Brother Cavalier and joined the ranks of the Knights of the Order. At first, Virtue could not have been happier. His entire life had been preparation for his promotion. However, as he continued to observe and learn, he found the Council and his superiors to be dogmatic, prudish, and unwilling to change in the face of overwhelming societal forces. The Order was stagnating. Virtue's pleas for reform were met with vehement opposition and dogged immobilism. The Order realized that Virtue was falling out of line and issued reprimands for his perceived insubordination, deploying him and his unit on long deployments in out of the way locations. On one of these deployments, an accident during a routine training drill resulted in the death of one of his subordinates, which was enough to allow the council to strip him of his Cavalier title. Disillusioned with his former dream job, Virtue packed his saddlebags and left, leaving behind his family and the Order he once loved. He refused to relinquish his sword Aequitas, much to the chagrin of the Council. The only place where Virtue's particular skill set would be useful would be the military, but as they blacklist members of the Destriers, Virtue was immediately rejected as an officer candidate. Frustrated with his inability to integrate with both his former fraternity and society proper, Virtue wanders Equestria, living off the land and doing odd jobs for bits while searching for his place in a world that seems to have left him behind. Character Summary Virtue is a pony in flux. As he has not been out of the service of the Destriers for long, he still retains his knowledge of the Librum Dextrarius, its four pillars, and a dogged determination to see justice be done to those who would do evil. At the same time, he is disillusioned with the highly dogmatic teachings and rigid training regimens that Destrier recruits undergo. Thus, he is torn between the purity of the values taught by the Librum and the desire for revenge against the Council's perceived betrayal. A large part of Virtue's personal conflict is attempting to reconcile his own ingrained training and sense of justice with his belief that progress is to be embraced and not resisted. Virtue is not a pony who shows kindness openly. Partly because of his natural countenance and partly because of his falling out with the Destriers, Virtue comes off as a very grim and uncompromising pony. However, he will never hesitate to step in when somepony's life is in danger. Virtue realizes that he comes off as intimidating at times and does his best to improve both his own attitude and circumstances. While he is not naturally bubbly, he is highly determined and very stubborn, though he is reluctant to commit to most things unless he has a solid reason to do so. Gear Aequitas (Destrier Long Sword): Just as much a work of art as it is a weapon, Virtue's sword is crafted and balanced specifically for him. Capable of being used either braced against his hoof as a puncturing weapon or wielded in the mouth as a slashing weapon, Aequitas is both versatile and deadly. Magical runes scribed along the flat of the blade keep Aequitas' edge sharp even in the most challenging of conditions and proudly proclaim the sword's purpose of bringing justice to those who would do evil. Bracers: Layered canvas bracers with steel reinforcements and latches, Virtue's bracers allow him to quickly fix Aequitas to a hoof or transfer it back to his mouth to rapidly change his fighting style and direction of attack or defense. Saddlebags: Containing little more than basic trail rations, a copy of the Librum Dextrarius, a journal and pen, and a utility knife, Virtue's saddlebags hold all he was able salvage from his former life before his unceremonious expulsion from the Destriers. Skill Set Swordsmanship: Destriers are well-known for their artful use of swords and Virtue is no exception. Command: As a former chapter leader and Brother Captain, Virtue has a firm grasp of tactics and how to motivate his charges. Wilderness Survival: His assignments to faraway lands and his journey on the road has taught Virtue hard lessons about living off the land and improvising solutions to problems that occur where help is not easy to come by. 12. White Feather You want the best in Equestria? You'll have to catch him first! Name: White Feather, "The Wind Walker" Sex: Male Age: Young stallion Species: Earth pony RP Color: #00BFFF Pelt Color: Ice blue, white fetlocks. Has a navy blue ring around his front left leg just below the knee. The leg and fetlock below the ring are completely white. Mane/Tail Color & Style: Navy blue mane, with a single white streak in his forelock. Tail is also navy, trimmed to keep it from dragging or catching. Eye Color: Green Cutie Mark: White eagle feather with red tip on the feathered end. Represents his light step and his unnatural grace, almost that of a flier. Physique: Short, about the height of the main cast, though he is male. Toned musculature from athletics training, but not bulky. Lithe and agile build. His movements have a sort of unnatural grace to them, more akin to a feline than an equine. Origin: Streets of Manehattan. Currently on the run from Aquellian law enforcement. Occupation: “Retrieval specialist.” Or as local police like to call it, a thief. Usually he works alone, as his unorthodox methods of breaking and entering preclude the use of a team. However that does not mean his is unwilling to cooperate. During more complex jobs, White Feather often works with others to make scores he wouldn’t otherwise be able to accomplish alone. Motivation: White Feather doesn’t steal for the money; he enjoys testing his skills against the best that Equestria has to offer, though cash isn’t a bad deal, either. Likes: Carousing, drinking, making an epic getaway, gambling, free running, contests of speed and agility, adventure, the thrill of a big score, humiliating his enemies, talking (he likes running his mouth), spicy foods Dislikes: Losing, hurting anypony unnecessarily, being injured or rendered unable to run, being caught, being trapped, being outmaneuvered or outsmarted, snakes Personality Having acquired his skill set on the mean streets of Manehattan by himself and thrived in spite of inauspicious circumstances, White Feather is overconfident almost to a fault. If there's a job that requires his skill set that looks dangerous-- or perhaps even fun-- White Feather wants it. As much as he loves seeing the bits drop, he gets his rush from running, jumping, climbing, and flipping; the sheer visceral joy of overcoming physical challenges. White Feather's level of energy is infectious; you'd think he's actually a pegasus that hides his wings very well. He loves to talk and seems to have an anecdote for every situation in spite of his youth. While he does make an occasional pass at a pretty mare, he doesn't go out of his way to find or keep fillyfriends, insisting that they'll just slow him down. He prefers the company of his current crew at taverns, though he's not above settling at the bar with a few chums he just met. White Feather is actually a very amicable stallion in spite of his past and his current profession. He's easy to approach and never lacks anything to talk about. Though many who have met him think him to be shallow and flighty, he can be calmed down by someone who takes sufficient time to befriend him and peel back the layers that he's built over the years to keep him alive and well. Character History The quintessential adrenaline junkie, White Feather tests his skills against the best that Equestria has to offer. White Feather is not the typical cutpurse or pickpocket; rather he is a highly trained professional thief that normally hits well-protected houses, companies, or vaults. He has worked for mercenaries, corporate heads, and even sky pirates. His high-flying aerialist talents and free running skills have often resulted in him being confused for a pegasus, earning him the nickname "The Wind Walker." After growing up in an orphanage, White Feather made a name for himself as a street urchin, using his experience as a stepping stone for his later high-flying aerialist heists. He jumped around from misfit gang to misfit gang, offering his unique talents in exchange for places to stay the night. One day, he was recruited by an old stallion to break into a bank and recover something very valuable to him. The job was the hardest one he'd ever undertaken in his life; the security was tight and the vault was nigh unbreakable, but with careful movement and a few close calls, White Feather and the old stallion's team were able to get into the vault and get what they needed. Unfortunately, the operation turned out to be a double cross. Knowing that White Feather was simply a street urchin that was expendable, the old stallion attempted to kill him to cover his tracks. Fortunately, White Feather was much lighter on his feet than the old stallion expected, allowing him to make good on his escape and in the process earn his cutie mark. His first brush with what seemed like certain death has given him a healthy fear of harming anypony, even if they stand directly in his way. White Feather knows all kinds of tricks and traps to incapacitate and trip up enemies, but he refuses to kill on principle. To date, no pony has ever been killed or suffered more than a minor injury during any of the operations that The Wind Walker has participated in. White Feather has since graduated to bigger jobs, developing a network of contacts across Equestria that he visits to find potential jobs and other like-minded individuals to train and work with. Skill Summary Acrobatics. White Feather is skilled in parkour, utilizing his superior athletic conditioning and superb flexibility and balance to traverse terrain that even fliers would be hesitant to navigate. Further augmenting his abilities is White Feather’s absurdly high risk threshold and his knowledge of the limits of his own body and just how far he can push himself. Athletics. He runs. A lot. He can keep running for much longer than most ponies are willing to chase him. Stealth. After years of being on the run, White Feather knows how to evade pursuit and disappear into crowds and in all types of terrain. Without magic, he relies on misdirection and fast talking to throw off a tail. Melee Combat. While not a fighter by trade, White Feather can hold his own against the average soldier or thug by using his superior mobility and balance to trip up his opponents. White Feather never uses lethal force if it can be avoided, preferring to embarrass those he thinks can catch him than injuring or killing them. Sleight of Hoof. A simple extension of misdirection and fast talking, White Feather can pick pockets, snatch important items, and slip away before he’s caught. Smell. White Feather has an exceptional sense of smell, particularly enjoying the smells of spicy foods like curry. Equipment Saddlebags. Specially made from synthetic materials from the Griffon lands, these bags are tough and lightweight, hugging his body for maximum mobility even when loaded. Grappling Hook/Line. As good as he is, White Feather can’t fly, so sometimes he needs a little help. Headwrap and tunic. Dark navy blue like his mane, these lightweight garments protect against abrasion and fire and aid in concealment in the dark.
