  1. ~~~Sugar Moonlight~~~ Things had been quite a bit different in Maretime Bay the last few months. There's been an influx of both pegasi and unicorns coming to the city, and many of them settling down. She had to admit even to herself, there were a lot of interesting stories that she'd heard over the past few months, and it was shocking how similar everything was yet how completely different as well. Like she'd found out on the boat right that Sunny had taken them on, there were so many different things that everypony had been taught about each other that she could't believe how they actually believed some of them. But that wasn't important now. What was though, was after everypony had come together again, it was Sugar's turn to give into her impulses and actually do a bit of research into Ancient Equestria. She always kinda wanted to know what it was like, and if all the stories from the past were actually true. After all, Sunny had already proven that everypony had been friends once before and had done an amazing job of single-hoofedly uniting all three races. Sugar couldn't help but wonder though just how deep everything went beyond that. At once point in her research, she'd found something. A mention of a holiday that the ponies of olden times would celebrate. It was called Hearth's Warming, and she was able to determine that it had something to do with the togetherness and the unity of ponies, but that was about all that was mentioned of it. Nothing else came close to going back even that far. There was also mentions of some weird spirit of hate thing that made the world freeze, but that just sounded positively silly. There was no way that kind of creature could exist. Unity and friendship though, that was something that she could put a hoof behind. Sugar had made fliers and she had distributed them through out the city. She briefly wondered if this was how Sunny felt all the time when she was posting all of the stickers around town, but all of that had lead up to today. The fliers invited ponies of all kinds to join this Hearth's Warming festival, and added that they should bring a surprise gift. Sugar also had a cake made for the event as well as some of her Maretime Bay famous Sugar Cookies! She was excited to share them with all of her new friends! She just hoped that ponies would actually take the fliers seriously and come. She wanted nothing more than to help celebrate the newfound unity in her city, and she actually felt a bit of panic take her over. What if no pony came? What if no pony truly cared and she'd gone through all of this effort for nothing? Sugar shook her head. No, ponies would come. She didn't know who, or how many, but she knew ponies would come. She had just finished putting the last bit of decorations around in her yard and inside her house to make it more festive, trying to match the couple of pictures that she'd found. It looked silly at first, but there was a quaint charm about it that just felt right. The way the colored lights were shining, and the way their breath's hung in the air, it was going to be a perfect evening. She had the tables set up and with it being outside, it would be open for everypony walking by to attend! Besides, depending on how many ponies actually showed up she might not be able to fit them all in her house. If this gets enough of a turn out she might have to rent a park or something next year. As it was, Sugar looked back over all of the decorations one more time. With a smile, she brought out the cake, the punch and the other snacks and arranged them on one of the tables while leaving another table blank for the guests to leave gifts on. Once everything was in place, Sugar took her place by the gate to her fence and waited for ponies to arrive.
  2. "Testing, testing. One, two, three, four. Hello, all you ponies. Check, check? It's good? Alright." Flick Ray takes his headphones off, pulls back, and stands up from his carefully adjusted microphone. This being the first episode of his new podcast, he wanted to make sure the sound quality was confirmed to be appropriate. "She here, yet?" Flick and his friend, a.k.a. producer, were slightly nervous. They were about to embark on a journey most ponies have never ventured. After dealing with the regular sources of news and information for a year or so, Flick was determined to create his own brand of media. He hoped that he could have a hooves to hearts conversations that would inspire ponies to be true to themselves, while at the same time having interesting things to talk about regarding Equestrian current events. But even though he was confident in his approach, it surely didn't take much pressure off who he was able to score as his first guest. Queen Haven had just returned to Zephyr Heights with her princess sisters. Although the princesses seemed to be more preoccupied than they used to, Queen Haven's spotlight was well used and provided her exposure in order to get her message straight. Flick hadn't watched much of the initial interviews and royal conferences, but when he was able to schedule an appointment with the Queen to discuss all that had happened, he knew this would be a breakthrough conversation that could change the way ponies in Zephyr Heights think. And depending on what the Queen's responses to his questions would be, it might even provide information for ponies that are listening from the forests or the bays. It was almost time for her to show up. Flick's studio was discreet from the outside, but convenient enough for city ponies to easily find it, assuming they knew where to look. With a door pony waiting for her arrival, Flick was anxious to get the signal that the queen had arrived. He didn't want to waste too much time when she did. Once she arrived, he planned to greet her formally, have her sit down in the recording area, and flip on the mics.
  3. Roleplay Type: ANG Name: Lambent Nocturne Gender: Male Age: Young adult Species: Areion Eye colour: Silver #bdc3c7 cat-slitted irises like most areion, often half-hidden by pince-nez sunglasses. Coat: Shade Gray #444444 Mane/Tail: Midnight Blue #2c3e50 for both, with a lighter blue streak (#2980b9) bordered by a yellow one (#f1c40f). His tail is kept neat and trim, but allowed to flow freely, while his mane is a medium length tousle that makes him look more like a sleep deprived rock star than a novelist. Unless he's attending a signing, when he'll slick it back and hide his stripes under a brown fedora. Physique: Tall and lanky. The way he carries himself and moves are the only things stopping him from looking like a rock band washout. He's too tense and nervous Residence: Zephyr Heights Occupation: Novelist under the alias Inque Noire through Pulp Tails Publishing, comic writer under the alias Somber Wing for Mark Horse comics, part time barkeeper in a small café in the Eye district. Cutie Mark: Magnifying glass over an open book. His cutie mark came to him before his voice started cracking, the first time he made it through the slush pile and sold a short story called The Wandering Eye to a pulp magazine that needed something to fill ad space that fell through. He was the first foal in his cadre with a cutie mark. Unique Traits: Turns out, areion flight is both quieter and less flashy than pegasus flight. Who knew! Lambent's truly unique trait is his triple life. Noir author by night, comic book author by...night...and mild-mannered areion bartender...by...night...Nocturne is not a 'day pony', okay. History: Lambent's parents were a relatively unknown producer and off-Eye operetta who elected to retire after relatively successful careers. While he and his siblings were pushed toward music and musicals, Lambent learned from a ludicrously early age that he had a flair for weaving mysteries. He was the youngest of his four siblings, but the second to find his cutie mark thanks to raw talent and quiet drive. While most of his friends were still trying to figure out how to talk to their crushes without pulling their tails, Nocturne was working on his first play. The biggest mystery of which was how he'd managed to produce a compelling narrative without knowing what either word meant. From there it was a long string of stories sold by the word to magazines that paid less than half what they were worth, until, entirely by chance, an author working under the nom de plume "Inque Noire" happened to read one of those pieces while she was waiting in a barber's shop. She was getting on in years, and was starting to look towards retiring after a long career of her own, so she sent young Nocturne a letter under her real name, commissioning him to produce a longer work. With the extra space (and a thesaurus), he managed to create a tidy little novella, which he sent off to his mysterious benefactor. He was shocked when, a year later, he read Inque Noire's newest thriller and realized that HE had written it. Not all of it, of course. The wording was different, better, and a few key scenes had been shifted around so that the story was paced better. But it was his plot. The characters had his names. And the solution was HIS solution. Which is when he got his second letter, with the payment for his first story, a sum that was more than twice what all his other stories had earned combined, and an explanation. His mysterious benefactor was, in fact, Inque Noire. She had a new commission for him, too, but with a catch. Firstly, he couldn't show it to anypony else. This was between the two of them, and second, he would be paid a cut of the royalties, rather than a flat rate. And then, once that novel was published, he was given a third commission, and then a fourth, and then he was doing his own revisions and editing in exchange for a larger cut of the royalties. And gradually, story by story, more and more of Inque Noire's books weren't actually written by this mysterious mare at all. They were written by Lambent. When he realized that he'd been responsible for an entire year's worth of Inque Noire books, he decided to play the sleuth himself and tracked down his benefactor, who turned out to be a kindly old mare who didn't care much for the spotlight anymore, and had been training Lambent for a very special job. Her job. Inque Noire. Because it turned out, she wasn't the first pegasus to publish under that name. It had cropped up off and on for as far back as anypony could remember. Sometimes a pegasus, sometimes an areion, sometimes a mare, sometimes a stallion, and now: Lambent Nocturne swore to keep the secret and keep up her work, which he has done to this day, even after her passing. It didn't exactly pay well, but the work was more than enough to let him afford an apartment in one of the foggy districts, especially once Mark Horse reached out to him with an offer to write episodic plots to use as B plot fillers between major arcs or while waiting for other titles' timelines to catch up for a major event. He's been doing both writing jobs for a few years now, though his family only knows about the bar job, and was quite comfortable with his (admittedly rather spartan) life. Until magic came back and he discovered that he could fly. Character Personality: While Lambent has plenty of confidence, it's all tied up behind his twin masks. His life and upbringing would have made him a bit of a nervous wreck if not for the early discovery of his special talent. The rest of his family are all, in one way or another, involved in either theatre or music, and so far as they're aware he's a barkeep who occasionally sells short stories for book money. Nocturne is perfectly happy to let them think so, just like he's perfectly happy for his fans to think he's a mysterious, nigh-immortal author of well-crafted Noir novels, or fairly decent detective comic stories, and his professional contacts to think of him as a shy, eccentric author who liked his privacy. The balance between stoic bartender and prolific author does cause him a fair bit of stress, which he vents into his work and his newly found hobby of gliding around Zephyr Heights' theatre district. Character Summary: Lambent Nocturne: moderately successful mystery author and bundle of nerves. He's driven by his craft, almost obsessed during his more intense phases, and spends most of his time serving drinks or hunched over his trusty typewriter. His apartment is lined wall-to-wall with bookshelves stuffed to bursting with paperbacks, magazines in organizer boxes, and comic book trade publications, though most of them are from other authors and writers rather than his own works. Notably, he's inherited a collection of first edition Inque Noire novels passed down from author to author to bear the name, which he gives pride of place in his study/office/spare room, an entire bookshelf directly across from his desk so if he needs to look up from his typewriter, he can't help but see it.

Flick started a podcast that is delivered over the Zephyr Heights ponynet, and chooses to not censor himself like manestream media in order to promote a genuine attitude and commentary to his watchers and listeners. As she grew up, this contrasting trend between her and other unicorns would continue to part, and she would lack the perspective of other ponies to help solidify her insecurities and social expectancies. On a day when Izzy was still very young, a letter fell softly from the sky by way of some candlelit paper balloon that implied unicorns and pegasi had friends waiting for them in Maretime Bay. She kept this letter as encouragement that she would have friends somewhere if she traveled far enough. Because she didn't share the superstitions and level of apathy that unicorns in Bridlewood had, she decided to put matters into her own hooves, and travel outside of the safety of Bridlewood, and pay Maretime Bay a visit. When Izzy found Maretime Bay, she was met with paranoia among the earth ponies. But she met one earth pony, named Sunny, who would later become her best friend. Through the adventures that took them to Zephyr Heights and back to Bridlewood, Izzy would meet new friends that she would hold for a long time to come. 6. Roleplay Type: A New Generation Name: Princess Zephyrina ‘Pipp’ Petals Gender: Female ♀ Age: Young mare Species: Pegasus Eye colour: green Coat: pink that fades in to white down her legs and wings Mane/Tail: A long violet mane is wavy and pinned to one side with the help of her crown, her tail is of average length and well groomed just like her mane. Physique: She stands shorter than average with a somewhat more plush overall body shape. Her most notable physical feature are her short but fluffy thanks to the large soft feathers that make up her wings. Well soft, warm and seen as cute they made even short moments of gliding physically impossible. At least, without the help of magic. But even with the help of magic her spoiled life has not made her the most physically fit of ponies. Well far from lazy and willing to do what she must, she is hopelessly outmatched by her older sister. Residence: The royal palace of Zephyr Heights. Occupation: Second in line to the crown, Princess of Zephyr, singer, songwriter, dancer, and over all media Idol of Zephyr Heights. Cutie Mark: A spiky purple music note that fades to white towards the bottom containing a gold crown. Unique Traits: Pipp is a phenomenal singer, that no pony can deney. Easily enthroning the masses with her voice she climbed the ranks from the ‘sister of the heir’ to the face everypony associated with royalty and class. This too is helped by her ability to win the hearts of others, be it in song or her witty remarks online she’s won a cult following in the city and knows how to use them to get her way. History: Princess Zephyrina Petals, better known as Pipp, was born in second place. With an older sister already set for the crown her birth had far less impact on the kingdome. She was the spare to the heir and her older sister was already up and kicking with all eyes on her. Well she was far from neglected, Pipp was never the top priority. From admiration down to education Zipp came first. Even her mothers free time favored Zipp and the growing filly was faced with a growing fear of being second forever. Nothing more than the ‘other one’ like the other siblings of past kings and queens. Try as her mother did to favor both her foals, the haunting fear of being forgotten creeped its way in to the young mind of Pipp and refused to ever let go. As the years passed she grew in the shadow of her older sister, craving the attention and fame as her older sibling was groomed for leadership. Trying her best to keep peace she found herself slipping behind as her sister just seemed to be smarter, faster and just better at everything. Almost everything. Pipp found her voice around the same time she found out how much she loved socializing. Where Zipp hated being paraded about, Pipp loved every moment of it and soon found ways to keep all eyes and ears on her. Something Zipp seemed fine with. This love for being in the spotlight is what got her to sing after seeing how much attention a singer had at one of mom's many social events. Her first attempt at singing was mildly embarrassing; it did convince her mother to hire the best vocalist trainer and singer in the city to teach her properly. Something she took to with a powerful eagerness as she finly had something she was good at and better yet, it was getting her the attention she so craved. As her singing talent grew her grades in other fields slipped. Losing interest in the more boring studies that had her playing second fiddle to her older sister's book smarts or athletic dominance she picked up more trainers in other fields. Music, dancing and whatever instrument grabbed her eye was studied with the same passion her sister had for athletics and dusty old books. With each passing year she learned how to master her voice, body and emotions to be the center of attention at every party. And it paid off as more and more eyes stayed on her. This finly reached its crescendo when she was old enough, and convinced mother enough, to put on a grand show for the city. She may have just been a filly at the time but her talent was already nothing to joke at. And when she walked out onto that stage and saw a city with all eyes on her she knew then and there this was it. Her destiny was going to be decided on that stage. Some may have been scared, many feared she’d panic with so many onlookers. She had none of that. This was everything she wanted and more and all she had to do was keep it. Pouring her heart in to the act she put all her training, fears and desires in to her performance. She’d not be forgotten, she’d not be overlooked or written in to some book margins as the ‘sister of the queen to be’. No, she was going to burn brightly as the Sun! And burn brightly she did for when the show ended with city shaking cheering she had done more than poreved what she can do, she earned her mark! That day set her down the path of stardome like no other. And as the years passed and the filly became a young mare she grew to become something truly extraordinary. Fame was easy, she was after all she was the daughter of the queen. But was nothing compared to the stardome she achieved in the passing years. Her face was more widely seen than the queens and plastered on more screens, posters, books, toys and even food than all the old kings and queens combined! She was on top of the world and her older sister seemed fine with this. And so was Pipp. She didn't hate her sister but the two definitely did not see eye too eye. They clashed often over widely different things. From the ‘Noble Lie’ down too takeout there was always something Zipp did not like. It was a consent reminder of how different they truly were. But for mothers sake she swallowed her pride… most of the time and just let things slide. What was there to worry about after all? Did it matter if they didn't fully get along? Pipp had her life, Zipp had her own and they both made peace with it for the sake of mother. What can go wrong? It's not like the city was going too fall out underneath them. And then it did. It was a show like many others and honestly it was nothing extraordinary. The more noteworthy event was two strangers getting in to the city. An earth pony and unicorn of all things! Well so very strange and making for some fantastic pics for her fans the two strangers were locked up in jail for later. And so she did not worry about them. That seemed to have been a grave mistake as next she saw them everything was upside down. Literally! Worse, her own sister was helping them! Everything she knew came crashing down in a moment as she watched her mother get swarmed by her own guards. And soon she was going to be next… Or was she? Luck had it that the scarcity forces still loyal to the family reached her first. Playing their part they dragged her off until they got some time alone with her. All of the city seemed to be turning against her, mom and even her sister! Speaking of… They knew where she was. With the help of loyalists she slipped down back roads and even had to travel by the sewer for a short moment! All of it just to track down her sister and ask her why she did this. Why did she destroy everything? The answer was honestly… Short of what was needed. Too short. But with a city out for her neck and nothing better but the insanely daft plan of her sister she picked the latter. It was better than being dragged out in chains and called a traitor for… for what? Doing what was best? No she’d have to ‘help’ in this endeavor. If it did work she’d fix all of this and save her mother. And so she joined the quest and got to meet Sunny, Izzy and Hitch. It was a whirlwind of events and days passed in a blur. Campfires made for easy talking and to her shock, understanding. Well she still felt distant from her sister, she did feel as if something new had happened. She was talking to others that knew nothing of her fame, her stardome. She was just… Pipp and they reached out to her as such. No screaming fan, no creepy comment about her hooves. She was just a pony and it felt oddly nice to be seen that way. And when the rainboom shattered the sky with colors she still felt oddly out of place. So much has changed. Every pegasus can fly, for real. The unicorns had magic and the earth ponies had… uh… Well, the world was opening up again. Places so long lost were now easily in reach. She just hoped it was worth the price paid and wondered what it meant for her, mom and her sister. Character Personality: Pipp has been called narcissistic, egotastic and dozen other words ending in ‘stic’. And well it's not entirely wrong it's far from correct to label her personality with such large brushstrokes! Much like her mother she does genuinely love her subjects and wishes the best for them. But sometimes this manifests in ways some may object to such as her belief the ‘Noble Lie’ was completely justified. In her eyes lying and half-truths are morality correct if it's done for reasons that keep others safe. Not everything needs to be known and sometimes the moral thing to do is lie to help another. And that view defines how she acts and views the world. She’s a good pony but sometimes a good pony needs to do unsavory things for the good of everpony. And underneath this all lies her deepest secret. Her fear of being forgotten. No matter how often her mother says she loves both her foals, no matter how many times she’s heard her name chanted by a sea of fans nothing can strip away the fear. She was born in second place and there is nothing she can do about it. And when was the last time you ever heard about a ruler's sibling? This fear makes her desperate for attention and encouragement almost constantly and makes it easy for her to slip in to episodes of melancholy. Character Summary: Pipp is the second in line for the crown of Zephyr, singer, pop-star, dancer and crown jewel of the public's eye. Ever happy to be the center of attention and heart of the party she knows how to stand out and get her way. Most of the time.
