  1. Roleplay Type: world of Equestria Name: Azure "iggy" Ignine Sex: female Age: young adult Species: Kirin Eye colour: orange Coat: yellow Mane/Tail: fiery orange with electric-blue streaks Physique: average Residence: Ponyville Occupation: Researcher Cutie Mark: NA Unique Traits: -Like all kirin, Iggy bursts into flame when she gets mad, but she has learned to mostly controle this, including focusing her anger to further empower herself when in danger, but not lose herself to rage. -While none of her spells are specially strong (possibly from a lack of practice more than raw ability), Iggy slowly pushes herself to learn as many as possible... often with comically disastrous results (such as accidentally changing Jasper's smoke into steam permanently) thanks to most pony magic requiring subtle modifications to be usable by a Kirin History: Having grown up during the 'plague of silence' (as iggy liked to call it), There wasn't much for a foal to do except read and study, which she did with a passion. Having no voice made her even more introverted than normal, driving her deeper into her studies to the point when the cure was made available it took her several days to even realize it. Afterwards, her regained voice did not help her win any friends as she spent her time questioning anypony who would listen about what she had learned, eventually being sent out into wider equestria to satisfy her thirst for knowledge (which if anything made it worse) During her travels, she met her best friend Cloudy Skies and her 'little brother' Jasper, before finally deciding that the most appropriate place to settle was Ponyville, given both the fact it was near the Everfree, which brimmed with wild magic and secrets, as well as being something of a nexus of strange magical phenomenon - something she planned to discover the reason behind! Character Personality: Friendly, while a bit awkward Iggy is always ready to lend a hoof (especially if there's a chance of learning something new!) While she spends most of her time studying, researching, or performing experiments, she enjoys helping those around her as well. (Just dont try talking to her first thing in the morning or you'll be reminded kirin are part dragon... provided she even gets up...) Character Summary: Always eager to learn and help her friends, Iggy is a kirin out to solve mysteries and make everypony's day a little brighter (as long as she doesn't botch up another spell....)
  2. Roleplay Type: WoE Name: Autumn Blaze Shadows name: Silhouette Gloom of the sun-down land Hoof puppet: Twiggy Bloom of the old woods Sex: female Age: Mare Species: Kirin Eye colour: Moderate gold Coat: Light goldish gray with goldish gray ear tips Mane/Tail: Moderate tangelo Physique: Autumn Blaze stands around the average height of an equestrian mare without being to lean or full in body. Like all her kin she has cloven hooves and scaling along her muzzle back back. Her mane is very big, looking line a lion's it grows all the way around neck in very thick fur. Her tail is long, like a giffins, with long mane like fur growing on the underside starting half way down the tail all the way to the end. Residence: ‘The Grove’ as all Kirin do. Her home is found just outside of the Grove, one made by her own two… four hooves! Well she was welcomed back to the Grove she found it easier to not move everything she did. With her plans to travel the world she has left everything she cant take with her behind there, interesting friends in the Grove to keep an eye on her home well she is away. Occupation: Singer, speaker, stand up comedian, playwright, carpenter, farmer, herbalist, Etc, Etc she’s unemployed. Cutie Mark: N/A Unique Traits: Autumn talks. A lot. But when one digs past what looks to be an utterly insane mare she has real talent with many things. She can grasp almost anything with shocking speed but never master it. She is a jack of all trades, master of none. Not that she can ever focuses on something for the time needed to master it too began with. History: “From a wonderful dad! I mean mom! Stallions can’t give birth. Besides the point they were totally awesome parents but this is about me! So this is my story with all the complicated descriptions and comedic tangents one can hope for! When I was reeeeally small they told me I was gifted! But that’s all boring things, I don't even remember half of it. Maybe for the best, you ever watch a foal? All they do is chew on things and cry about something you can’t hope to understand. Tried foalsitting. Don’t recommend it. But when I was not so small I found my voice! The first time! Not the later time. That is later. I found I just loooove singing. And talking! And other things! I was helping all over town, farming, building that, sell this. It was a wonderful time and everyKirin just loved me to bits! Ask them! I know every single Kirin ever I think! Well some time later, not missing too much. First crushes, good times, bad times, filly drama. Truuust me, you don’t need to know. Just ask Summer Flare! She’s like, my BFF! Well anyways the ‘big thing’ most known about us is not talking! Well one day… well lats back up! Sometimes we, the Kirin, get like mad! And not mad like “oh i dropped my bread!” but “that Kirin is on fire!” mad. It even happens to me! We just get soooo mad. Boom, fire! Yelling! Good thing fire doesn't hurt us! But it hurts are homes. What leads me back to what happend! One day we had a big one. All of us got in on it. Free for fall! It was bad. But Rain Shine she’s like, are queen or something do to how tall she is… I think. But she did not join in. She saw us going to town on the town, just everything was on fire, and got really mad at us. So seeing as the start of this was us yelling or something, I don't know, I think it was the price of something, she made us all go in the Stream of Silence. No clue how it works or why it is a thing! But it suppressed are voices aaand emotions. You ever had both suppressed? Not fun. Well! I was stuck like that for years and all the talking I could do was in my head! I got reeeealy good at it. But the voices in my head got boring and rude after years of being stuck with them as roommates. Well one day well I was arguing with Silhouette Gloom in my head I tripped and fell down in a lot of flowers. Well! One of them told me brew them in some tea! … I don’t remember why I did that honestly, have you ever tossed some random flowers in tea? But it was so worth it! Not the tea, it tasted pretty bad. But it did give me back my voice! Best day ever! I just had to let out a years worth of words! And I did! Well after like, one week Rain Shine told me get back in the river or leave town... So after moving out of town to a hill with a stunning view I got to work! Made a home, farm, made friends. Silhouette Gloom is my favorite, don’t tell Twiggy. And made a living! … it was boring. And lonely! At first it was not a bad but after a few years it was just like not speaking at all! But with all the emotion! Well my saving grace came. Applejack! She is just the best. She cooks real good as well! So she got all brave and went to make us all talk! Us is Kirin. Well I had this gut feeling it will not work. I hoped she’d make it work but well, no Kirin knows Kirins like a Kirin! So after arguing about it with myself I set off to see how it was going. Good thing I did. Applejack and, to my shock, not at all a shadow, buttershy were about to go swimming in that Stream of Silence. Not willingly. I think… they were not puting up too much fuss for it. I almost did not save them! Maybe they wanted it. But my gut… or a voice told me to go save them! So I got all fired up and went racing in! Good thing they just did not drop them in the river or something. But after saving them we all talked and this time Rain Shine did not just tell me to leave and not come back. In fact she sided with me! And Applejack… Oh and flutterfly. Well I made them all that tea to let them talk! Told none of them how it tasted. Was fun. But after that they let me back in to town! All the talking, jokes, it was good. But I saw something that just did not leave me. Applejack and Shyflutter were outsiders. I am going to be honest I didn't even know they were a thing! And there is a world full of them! And others! I just… had to see it all. So after a few years of planning I packed my bags and took to the road! Ok I didn't plan it in two years. More like one year. But I feel ready for it what can go wrong?” -Autumn Blaze, speaking to the world's most unlucky train passenger. Character Personality: Autumn Blaze is very excitable, chatty and eccentric to the extreme. Having gone years with no power to speak, than years living alone after that has left her leaping at every opportunity to talk, make friends or just interact with something. She made several imaginary friends that she speaks with with the two primary being Silhouette, her shadow, and Twiggy, a hoof holding a stick. This was born from her years of solitude and well being around others have helped combat this, she still speaks to them very often. This gives her a less the “all together” appearance around others. But she means well and will happily work with others to spend time with them. Even if it's just doing the dirty work. Character Summary: Autumn Blaze is an eccentric Kirin that spent much of her life unable to talk, then followed by being outcasted and living alone after curing her lost voice. With the help of Applejack and Fluttershy she was welcomed back to her town and was allowed to cure all of them from the self imposed silence. After living with her town she found a growing wish to explore the world and see more. There was so much she has yet to see or hear. So packing her bags she jumped on a train with no real game plan other than exploring the world and going wherever she can.
  3. Roleplay Type: WoE Name: Da Jian-yá Sex: Stallion Age: 42 Species: Qilin Eye colour: Magenta, surrounded by black sclera Coat: Ebony, Purple, Lavender Mane/Tail: Purple Physique: Thin, Fluffy Residence: New Town, Long Kong Occupation: Divine Protectorate Leader Cutie Mark: N/A Unique Traits: History: Their father, Mariqus Da, was a respected officer of the navy. He served for over thirty-three years and had become a decorated officer renowned for his tactical prowess. His family has lived in Long Kong for five generations, having emigrated to Long Guo’s mainland. He was forced into retirement when his great-grandfather called for his presence. It had been time for Da to take over his role as head of the family. Da’s father and grandfather had, sadly, met the afterlife and could not continue the tradition as they were meant to. Organized crime and a delinquent attitude toward law, Da took over the Divine Protectorate. It was the life Jian-yá would be born into. Jian-yá was a small foal, underweight and often having difficulty keeping weight on throughout his life. This made him frail and as an heir to the family he was always under the protection of trusted family members or his father. Father and son spent little time apart. When there were meetings held among other families or with rival groups Jian-yá was at Da’s side. The Marquis was diligent in his affection to his son, so he would not come to hate Da as the Marquis had come to hate his own father. Jian-yá did not have many friends. His spoiled nature left him to his own devices which often got him in trouble with Deputies. His life was a lavish one full of imported treats and rich silks that touched the fur like air. With a manor settled on the coast of Long Kong his family ran the organization from the heart of New Town. With businesses in Downtown, Long Kong employing over 200 New Town residents the Divine Protectorate are both a blessing and a curse for the city, a double-edged sword. Jian-yá frequented the arcades Downtown, often getting into mischief with foals of local Deputies and Poles. In time Da would retire and pass his legacy to Jian-yá when he was around thirty-years of age. Raised in a life of decadence the spoiled prince of crime would become its king. He would want more than he desired and turn the seething cesspool into a deeper trench of debauchery and chaos. Many say he suffered a curious worship of the long-like figure of the emissary of chaos, but it was mere conjecture that was often met with swift punishment or a visit from local Poles, even an increase in taxes. Jian-yá took over the family with years of training and tutoring to control every aspect of the organization behind him so he could ensure it held Long Kong in its grip for years to come. The Divine Protectorate controlled Long Kong through businesses, blackmailing positions in political offices and being surrounded by leisure all his life the young heir had spent his days training in the martial arts of the Qilin and athletics to train his bored body and keep his mind sharp. He was built to be an heir of the Protectorate and nothing else. Soft-spoken and only speaking when he find it necessary it was the result of his special talent that enforced this stoic nature presented by the thick brows of his sprouted horns. He was a late bloomer. The Da had worried his son would not meet the expectations of the families and he would be disallowed to continue the Da family line on the seat of the Dragon Head. It was during an altercation with a rival group seeking to take territory from Downtown that Jian-yá would find his way. The young qilin, at this time only at the age of fifteen and been sent to the front to negotiate in hopes the experience would bring meat to his skinny bones, at least that was how his uncle had put it to his father. Things turned violent and Jian-yá was cornered. He was not as physical adept as the Poles, but they were preoccupied with the rival group’s goons. In fear the young qilin, who had struggled much of his life with his dragonfire, attempted to exhale a blast. The beast’s gullet ensured that not only would the attackers be incapacitated but a good portion of the poorly constructed slum house would be damaged and collapse as well which easily sheltered the confrontation from authorities. It seemed his dragonfire produced a subsonic sound that, otherwise doused the heat of his flames, and created concussive damage. Character Personality: Jian-yá has a short temper when he doesn’t get exactly what he wants. He does not show it through brute force, but instead uses underhoofed tactics to humiliate, sabotage and demean his enemies. Notoriously snide to both employees and prospective customers alike, the qilin is blunt with his responses and indirectly passive-aggressive with his remarks towards the perceived incompetence of others. Cheap: they refuse to pay more than they have to the qilin will often resort to stealing, undercutting worker pay and taking shortcuts in construction costs. The boss is temperamental, smug and is not known to take ‘no’ as answers. Indulgent, hedonistic, and spend only for themselves. The selfishness is a large part of the reckless deals he makes, never considering later costs and only current profit. Character Summary: Raised to be the heir of the Divine Protectorate the young qilin spent his life studying to take if over from his father. Spoiled to the core and a cold, nihilistic snark the qilin uses sonic abilities to deter attackers and will do anything he can to secure more money, more property, and more goods than he would need in the next life. An avid hater of the Path of Harmony the qilin is known to incite riots and dissent among those he can influence and the authorities of Long Guo. Named Jian-yá, for his black whiskers which are black as night, he is known to sign his name as Σ among his paperwork. No one knows what the symbol means, but there are rumors to the symbol having deeper connections to Tartarus.
  4. From the album: The Character Corner (Color!)

I've been wanting to upload one of these for a while. I don't really show many diverse expressions in my work so I give my newest character a chance to shine. I'll probably use some of these in Rp at some point. From Top to bottom, Left to right the expressions are... 1: WHAT THE BUCK DID YOU SAY ABOUT MY MANE?! 2: Irritated 3: Saddened 4: Embarassed 5: Cheerful 6: Sleepy
  5. This Is Hanari Rua. Rua is a traveler from Neighpon, a follower of the traditions and codes of the Samurai. Having been raised in a ninja clan populated entirely by mares in a mysterious forest away from most of Neighpon, she is curious about the ways of her homeland as well as the lands far beyond. It shouldn't be too surprising that traveling on the road with nothing but a blunt, wooden training sword and a satchel to keep you company makes a pony wish for some decent conversation. To any who are interested, I have two spots I left in her background that resulted in her developing into who she is. One is a mysterious stranger who saved her and her mother's life during a blizzard. I didn't go into specifics about them beyond they were kind enough to do so and knew a lot of stories about the samurai of Nieghpon. Rua styles her mane in the same appearance as the pony who saved her and her mother that day, although its perfectly likely and sensible for the character to have changed it at some point. The other option is a another stranger who was a kirin or longma that became a nuisance to Rua and her mother when Rua was just a filly. Rua challenged him to a sort of duel of breath magic and managed to... lose to a much more experienced and stronger opponent, but not before bruising his leg. The action impressed him enough to stop bothering her the parent and filly on their way to a town. Those are just two major roles for influences in her own life. In her travels I would like for her to meet a variety of characters so feel free to offer some of yours up! As for characters I'm looking for, well... I think to start some characters she may have run into on the road once or twice before, but if an applicant thinks a meeting for the first time would be more interesting that could be fine too! Just leave a comment and we'll see what we can cook up!
  6. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Name: Rua Hanari Sex: Female Age: Young Mare Species: Kirin Eye Color: Bright orange Coat: Rua's coat is mostly a very off-white grey, her scales and draconic features being a darker grey as well. Mane/Tail: Wears her mane in a style that would be considered somewhat outdated in Neighpon. One could easily describe it as a type of bowlcut with asmall cut tuft of a mane that pokes on top almost like a stem. Her horns are fairly long but groomed and filed regularly. Physique: Despite appearing rather small, Rua has a well toned and trained build: The type one would associate with speed, agility, and finesse. Residence: None Occupation: Rua has no steady occupation, mostly identifying herself as a Ronin: A masterless Samurai. She tends to wander all across the lands, honing her skills in order to live up to the code she admires... she has however had to take a large amount of oddjobs in order to make ends meet. She has had experience as a farmhoof, a waitress, and even a delivery mare. Cutie Mark: A swirling, wisplike ball of magical smoke. When Rua was young and only just started following the code left for her by the stranger, She and her mother had run into a recurring problem. One day they made their way to the closest town nearby the forest (which was still quite a distance off) and there was a Qilin there who told her that he was camping on this route and if she wanted to pass she'd need to pay him a toll. The qilin seemed a bit older than her mother and when she tried to pass by him he was able to stop her with some magic he exhaled from his maw. Rather than take the offense lying down, Rua got up and challenged him to a duel to allow them to pass if she won with her own magic could subdue him... and promptly lost. This wasn't the last time she saw that rude stallion however, as she came back the next day determined to fight him once again... and again lost. Each day before she came to challenge him again she would train her breath through meditation and exercises as best she could. The attempts to beat the stallion continued for a week and one day she again had managed to lose. This time though the stranger was impressed by her as in their little spat she'd manage to actually bruise his leg: not badly, but enough that it was visible. Out of respect for his little opponent he agreed to stop being in their way and told her to seek him out again someday. That day as she laid in the grass breathless as that qilin walked off... she sat buck up and noticed a mark emblazoned on her plot. Portrait: Unique Traits: Breath Magic Prodigy: Rua has a natural talent for the magical breath of the native born creatures of Long Guo. She regularly trains it and hones it through her meditations and training alone. She is entirely self taught , however and as a result only knows some very simple spells that can conceivably assist her: Most of them she learned from the book on Bushido the stranger left her. Enchanting her equipment with her breath, she can strengthen the threads on her kimono to make it tough as iron, give her blunt training sword an invisible cutting edge, strengthen her body, breathe fire, and able to levitate things with her breath magic so long as her respiration is un-impeded. Quick Study: Rua learns things very quickly. In regards to her magic she is very good at learning new spells when she has enough practice. Ninja and Samurai Training: Since She was a filly, her clan trained her well in martial arts. From her years of training she is a very capable combatant with tools she is familiar with and even keeps one of her old favorites at her side at all times thanks to it’s versatility: A kusarigama. In her travels she is perfectly fine using her old wooden training sword, regularly enchanted by her own breath to be sturdy enough to combat normal steel. History: A time ago there was a mare who was part of a secretive ninja clan in Neighpon's most infamous woods. This mare took a great and clever warrior as her lover, but circumstances drove them apart: Him needing to find his destiny and her devoted to her sisters in the clan. In the end the mother bore him a daughter and that daughter was Rua... at least that is what the little kirin had been told growing up. The part about the secret ninja clan was true as she can attest. Being raised up in clan Aokigahara in the Forest of the Forsaken was far from easy. Ninja training in one of the most inhospitable areas of Neighpon could never be a trot in the park. Still she wound up excelling and working hard to understand the necessary skills in order to excel at what was likely to be her trade in the future. Even with all the training that occurred, she and her mother would often leave the forest. To this day Rua isn't fully sure why they would venture out so much more often then the other mothers and daughters in the clan. Deep down Rua suspected it might have been a hope from her mother to see the warrior she told her daughter about walk down the road, but she always said it was so she could socialize better since she'd heard one of the fillies in the clan had fainted when put only a few inches away from a colt when she went on her first mission. The trips outside the forest were very varied in the types of kirin, ryuma, and ponies. One trip to the mountain wound up being possibly the most important day of her life. A simple trip to retrieve an herb was made into a deadly night when a blizzard blew in. Rua and her mother had become lost in a vast landscape of white. The end of their story seemed like a certainty for the small family, but a stranger in the snow retrieved them just after they had passed out. They spoke softly, had a … curious mane style and had an old sword at their side. This stranger nursed them both back health. With the filly to keep her spirits up they wove tales of a samurai, a traveler who wrote the wrongs and fought caribou in ages past... by the glint in her eyes he gave her book on the ways of Neighponese samurai code. ON the morning when both she and her mother had shown to be healthy once again, he had left only that book at the mouth of cave they'd rested in: a sentence circled in it's pages. “Righteousness is it's own reward.” In her admiration, Rua began to style her mane in shape of that of the wanderer who saved her and her mother's life that day... and wound up taking offense to any slight against the style. Around this time she began to diverge a bit from the clan, feeling as though the way of the ninja... while not evil was not the way she wished to follow. Instead she focused on training her breath and skills with the tools of their trade but not so much the philosophy of sneakiness and striking in the darkness. Her gradual gravitation away from her clan's primary methodology, while not severing her bond with her sisters did weaken it. She grew to enjoy her trips to the outside more and more. On one trip to a nearby town she wound up meeting a curious colt who she only knew as Ishi-kun. He was a strange Kirin who was accompanied by armed guards but he apparently decided to try and talk to her after she'd scurried away when some group of fillies and colts chased after her when she beat them in a game of horseshoes. Ishi came to her defense, and after she finally was able to get a word out past her initial nervousness of having to say thank you to both a stranger and a colt... the two wound up spending most of the day together exploring the town and evading those guards. Eventually the two had to part ways and all that Rua could say was that she hoped she'd see him again someday. Days turned into months turned into years and Rua's desire to travel only grew as those increments of time did pass. She only took a small pack of supplies, a wooden training sword, a simple robe and her self taught breath magic with her. Her sisters took her to the edge of the forest and she bid her mother goodbye, promising to return and visit. So her travels began and continue. Rua's wandering has many purposes for her. She believes that her experiences on the open road will help her grow as a person beyond her talents, yet she also hopes that each hoofstep on this long road may bring her to the face she encountered growing up... and perhaps the one that is partly responsible for her being born. Neighpon has been her primary wandering ground but she has begun work to try and travel beyond... Personality: Above all else, Rua aspires to embody the virtues of the way of the samurai. She strives to be kind, loyal, dependable, and willing to defend or hope those in need in whatever way she can. While on the outside she seems as calm as a still pond, inside she is fiercely devoted and has a remarkable persistence that pushes her to continue her travels. There are occasional lapses in her almost overly polite nature in which even she can be pushed from anything that would try the patience of anypony. Her most vulnerable moments can usually be seen when she is truly feeling the weight of her travels bearing down on her or if she finds she has been deceived. One of the most notable outbursts of her inner passions would seem to occur anyone disrespects, belittles, or insults her manestyle: due to the significance of the one who inspired it in her life, she treats such remarks as gravely as if someone had spit on the legacy of her entire family. Those who have spoken ill of it know now that her reaction varies from a calm restrained fury to an out and out rage that a caribou would envy... and usually once the damage is done she will apologize profusely for her actions and work to pay off any debts owed if reasonable. In regards to odd quirks, Rua has a very vivid imagination. Often times in tense situations she will imagine various ways in which a situation can go and ponder on the ramifications of the actions she could take.. only to be jarred from her trance by a frustrated 'hey!' from whoever had been talking to her. Due to her upbringing by a secluded all female ninja clan in a forest, Rua has little no experience with members of the opposite sex. She is completely capable of speaking to them but occasionally will let a compliment slip, and can be incredibly nervous especially if they are around her age and are physically adjacent to her. Perhaps taking her philosophical following of the samurai, Rua has adopted a somewhat archaic way of speaking in her native tongue as well as Equestrian. At the end of sentences she will almost always end certain statements with “That it is” or some variation thereof. This has seemingly become second nature to her as even when members of her own culture say the formalness of her speech is unnecessary she will continue with this verbal tic even after trying to restrain herself. Rua Can also be rather critical of herself, when she makes a slight against someone she will often go beyond what is necessary if she considers it her fault. One of the reasons she currently only carries a wooden sword instead of a real one is because she does not believe she truly deserves to wield one yet. Summary: Rua is typically a calm and polite mare of Neighpon. Raised in an infamous forest by a secretive clan of ninja she chose a more honorable path in that of the samurai after one saved her and her mother's lives in a bad blizzard. Now on her own with only a momento from home, a training sword, a rucksack, and some basic creature comforts to her name she travels the land: trying to grow as a warrior and a person. Her skills with many different types of weapons and the breath magic of east make her quite a force to be reckoned with, but she is not the type to show it off as that would go heavily against the code she follows. Her time on the road has granted her more than a few skills that are useful for a few occasions and most of the time her biggest worry is finding a place to sleep and some food to eat.

The life a Ronin is not easy, but it's the life Hanari Rua chose. Just some art for an upcoming OC I'm working on.
  8. From the album: Elder's Flower Bed

Unbearably adorable pop idol by day, ninja by night! It's Higanbana, the Red Spider Lily.
  9. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Name: Higanbana Sex: Female Age: Young Mare Species: Kirin Eye colour: Golden Coat: Higanbana’s coat is a soft cherry red, shiny and silky and healthy as can be. Her scales, soft pink in colour, shine brilliantly in the light. After all, her beauty regimen is quite strict! Mane/Tail: Higanbana’s soft pink mane and tail are voluminous and curly. They’re a part of her unbearably adorable charm, partnered of course by her stubby-chubby horns! Physique: This kirin is so small she might as well be pocket-sized. Though in her videos and billboards she looks like an average mare, in real life she’s often confused for an adolescent. This, of course, is part of her appeal. She is the Teacup Kirin! Feminine and little, everybody wants to scoop her up and plop her in a teacop! Don’t be fooled, though - she’s a very fit and very tough, tiny kirin! Residence: Where else could a Neighponese idol call home but Polohama? The lights, the beat, and the restlessness of the city are the spice of life for Higanbana. Though it is not where she was born or raised! Occupation: One of Polohama’s top and most beloved pop idols/models. Higanbana’s cute and creepy charm create a flavour completely unique to her. Upbeat, sugary sound partnered with weird and macabre lyrics and visuals have built up Higanbana’s dedicated and adoring fanbase! She calls her fanbase her Garden, and her fans her Lilies! Considering how busy the life of an idol is, you would think it is her one and only passion. But that could not be further from the truth. When asking Higanbana about her life, she will always say she was born and raised in Polohama. That, however, is a terrible lie. In truth, she was born in the Forest of the Forsake at the base of Mount Kaminichi. A daughter of the all-female Aokigahara Clan, Higanbana is a trained and fearsome ninja. Cutie Mark: A Red Spider Lily (higanbana) blooming in the embrace of a crescent moon. Raised in the dark, mysterious Forest of the Forsaken by a clan of all-female ninja, Higanbana lived a rigid and restrictive life. She woke before dawn, trained in order to earn her meals, and worked for the better of her Clan. Foraging, weaving, dying, tilling, planting, watering, training: these were but some of the tasks expected of a Daughter of Aokigahara. Her evenings were spent perfecting the magic of her breath through practice and meditation, as well. There was no free time, no leisure, and no joy outside of hard work. And all of that drove Higanbana a little bonkers. For whatever reason, since the moment she could stand, Higanbana was a starlet. She was bubbly, loud, and loved to sing. Everything she did seemed to be aimed at entertaining and amusing others. Her personality, as one might guess, received very polarized responses. While some mares and fillies in her clan adored her, others found they held very little patience for her antics. She was a distraction for their collective goals, and as such required a tighter leash. But the more her leash was tightened, the bigger her personality seemed to grow. She was an unstoppable force of cuteness, which she would quickly learn had its major drawbacks. Even from a young age, Aokigahara’s training was intense and often dangerous. It required a great deal of individual skill and, more importantly, teamwork. One evening, dashing through the treetops of the Forest of the Forsaken with her fellow fillies, Higanbana saw what made for a perfect stage in an open area of the woods. A tall, flat boulder bathed in moonlight would make the perfect spotlight for one of her adorable routines! Higanbana flitted down onto the boulder and began singing. After all, they were far from their destination where the youkai of the forest lurked. What could go wrong? Almost immediately, she was set upon by those very same youkai. A shriek escaped her lips and her sisters rushed to her rescue. Together, they pushed back the three macabre beasts, but not without serious injury. When they returned to their tiny village, she apologized for acting out against the plan their training group had skillfully put together for facing the youkai. She also realized, and said as much, that there was a time and place for her to stand in a spotlight, and she must learn to appreciate the beauty in the serene, calculative nature her Clan was trying to instill in her. And just like that, something clicked. Upon her flank, her cutie mark blossomed! Within the feminine light of the moon bloomed the red spider lily she was named after. So too would Higanbana blossom if she quietly absorbed the teachings passed down by the mares of her clan. That, and of course she bloomed in the spotlight as well! What a lovely dual meaning! Unique Traits: Much like Higanbana’s dual personality and lifestyle, her magic has two strengths! As an idol, when her black flame-breath engulfs something or someone, they cause them to sparkle and glitter in any colour or pattern the kirin dreams up! When working as a ninja, her breath has a muting effect, canceling out any noise her targets might make. It’s an incredibly useful skill, taught to her by the mares of Clan Aokigahara. The sparkling is 100% a Teacup Kirin original. One of the heaviest focuses in her training within Clan Aokigahara was acupressure. As tiny as she is, brute strength would be hard to compete with. So she learned how to hit pressure points to stun, temporarily paralyze, or knock the wind out of any foe! She needs a pretty big opening to do something as extreme as paralyze a foe, so typically she just stuns them. Still, wielded correctly her talents can really come in handy! Not to mention it’s a perfect way to end a physical conflict without unnecessary violence! As an idol, Higanbana has a powerful and impressive voice. The most enchanting element of her singing is the pure emotion she can channel into it, though she rarely gets to show that skill off as a pop idol. Her usual upbeat music follows the trend of sugary-sweet hits, and only during her once-per-record ballads can she really get a chance to belt it out. Despite all of this, it goes without saying that her cuteness it her most unique trait! History: Born within the mist and shadows of the Forest of the Forsaken to a Clan that is little more than myth in Neighpon, Higanbana grew up following a strict and imprisoning Code that sought to stomp out her uniqueness. Clan Aokigahara raised ninja, not pop idols. It wasn’t until after she earned her cutie mark that the kirin understood why things were that way and she learned to set her charm and talents free only when it was appropriate. And safe (see: when there weren’t youkai hiding in the shadows, ready to pounce her or her sisters). Once she had learned that valuable lesson, however, she began to excel at her training. The way of Clan Aokigahara was a path she passionately followed, training mind and body to shape herself into an excellent shadow warrior. Though she also desperately enjoyed the rare occasions when she got the opportunity to perform her little made-up songs and dances with her clan. As time passed by, she grew hungrier for stories of the outside world. There were only three reasons any mare left the safety of Aokigahara Village: to work as ninja-for-hire and bring wealth back to their clan, to find opportunities for permanent work amongst the lords of Neighpon (and bring wealth back to the Clan), or to find a mate so they might bear their Clan a new daughter. And of course, each mare who returned to the Forest of the Forsaken returned with stories, and they were tales that Higanbana lived for. When she was of age and the Mothers of Aokigahara deemed her training complete, Higanbana made the decision to leave. It broke her heart, but she knew that she would always yearn for a different life if she remained home. Thankfully, her sisters understood this and sent her along happily and teary-eyed. Her Mothers did much the same, with a few exceptions. First: outside of the Forest of the Forsaken, Clan Aokigahara existed only in myth. That, and powerful illusory magic were the only reason their Clan remained safe and unchallenged. Second: a mare might leave the Village, but they could never leave the Clan. As such, her wealth must be shared with her sisters, to be delivered personally or given to a sister sent to meet her. And last of all: keep an eye out for worthy stallions, to make her sisters’ task in searching for suitable mates easier. This meant strong, kind-hearted males who would have no qualms raising a son if one of her sisters was not blessed with a daughter. With that, Higanbana set out for Polohama, and when she arrived in the city she learned to live in the shadows. Armed with her skill and the advice of her sisters and Mothers, she shrouded herself with darkness, appearing only to those in need and performing tasks (protecting them/their loved ones, locating their enemies, etc,) to earn a living while she tried to make it as a star. During her first audition, she was chased out of the auditorium when she shocked the talent scouts with her macabre lyrics. During her second audition, she met the longma mare who would become her manager and took the first steps into her career. Through hardship and toil she made a name for herself, and eventually became known across all Neighpon as Higanbana the Teacup Kirin: Neighpon’s most adorable idol! Her night life has been quite successful, too, as potential clients lay red spider lilies in their window whenever they require the assistance of the shadow-dwelling heroine living a rather vigilante-like lifestyle in Polohama. It might seem silly that the flower she was named after was her calling card, but Higanbana is very skilled ninja, and none who have had dealings with the Red Spider Lily would ever consider it might be a beloved Polohama idol. Mostly, they assume she’s just another Higanbana fanatic! After all, the Teacup Kirin has a reputation as a shy, adorable, and clumsy mare! Constantly tripping slipping, and dropping things! Luckily, she manages to keep her cool when she performs at least! Character Personality: Bright, bubbly, and upbeat! Higanbana is the perfect image of a pop idol. She’s demure, sugary-sweet, and very polite at all times. Sure, she might have a macabre and weird style, but that could never cancel out the unbearable cuteness of her size and stubby-chubby horns! As an idol, she is often slipping, tripping over things, dropping props, and apologizing. Sometimes it can be quite a pain for directors, but when the pressure is on her she always gets her act together! Unfortunately, though, she has one glaring personality flaw that doesn’t pair well with fame: Higanbana is absolutely terrified of males. She was, after all, raised by a Clan of quiet, composed mares - visions of serenity and focus. With no exposure to males until she came to Polohama in her late teens, she just can’t help but feel flustered and shy around them! Especially the pretty ones, they always make her blush and fumble and try to hide behind her fluffy, fluffy tail! Despite all of this however, when she darkens her fur and dons the garb of Clan Aokigahara, Higanbana is a skilled and ruthless ninja. She can take down youkai and bad guys by utilizing her magic, her smarts, and most importantly her in-depth understanding of countless creatures’ anatomies and the art of acupressure. Character Summary: Painfully cute idol by day, fearless ninja by night! Higanbana is a teacup-sized kirin who can put up a good fight, travel undetected through the dark, charm thousands of creatures across Neighpon, and belt out an irresistible tune! She’s quite the impressive package, for one who also happens to be, well, terrified of males and prone to horrible clumsiness when she’s not focused on being a good ninja. She’s dedicated to her Clan, her fans, and her friends! The highlights of her life at any given time are visiting home and visiting her fans. Stardom requires a mare to sacrifice many things, but she’ll never give up her loving nature and humility. After all, she learned long ago the dangers of being an arrogant attention-seeker

Ryuichi's finally getting some family members, yay! PryoBlaze's newest Kirin character is Ryuichi's younger brother, and also the current Ōmetsuke of Neighpon. He values justice and the pursuit of the truth, both very good qualities for an Ōmetsuke to have! This was pretty fast and simple sketching, lineart, then color, though in truth I wasn't even sure I was going to be able to do this one. Thank God I was, because I really like being able to visualize the characters my own characters interact with! The contrast between the coat and mane is really visually striking, in my opinion. Here's to more of Ryuichi's circle of friends, peers, and acquaintances getting visual representation! Ishi (c) PyroBlaze
  11. Roleplay Type: WoEName: NaraSex: FemaleAge: Young MareSpecies: KirinEye colour: BlackCoat: Ruddy red that gradients to a dark brown. Cream belly scales and onyx colored scales on face, shoulders, and haunches.Mane/Tail: Black-brown and cream. Mane is short and slicked back, shaved at the back except for two strands at the base. Tail has longer hair up close to the base, and gradients down to mane hair color at the tip. Physique: Thin and long, favors the deer physique. Legs are long and spindly looking, gives her most of her height. Antlers are two-pronged and same color as her body. Residence: Family home in KyomaOccupation: Smelter/BlacksmithCutie Mark: Fissured ground with lava flowing downward. Shows the connection her family has to the earth deep below the surface, and the fire it takes to purify it. Nara earned her cutie mark during her official training in the family business. Already a teenager and with no cutie mark from the talents and professions her mother offered, Nara’s father took her under his wing. The filly had shown an interest in the ores and the process at a young age, and so he had hoped her talent was tied with it. Her father was correct in his assumptions when Nara’s magic grew strongest when smelting the ores. Her cutie mark appeared after she completed her first batch of iron bars which she sold to the local blacksmith. Unique Traits: Despite her weak looking physique Nara has an incredible stamina and constitution. She’s able to work the forge and smelter for long hours before tiring, often working all night. Magic breath, like most in her family, has an almost lava like appearance rather than a normal light flame. Fire breath is extremely hot and used as the fire to smelt ores and forge weapons. Also makes her somewhat resistant to high temperatures, the hot work environment never really bothering her. Knows how to make weapons and armor, but is most adept at helmets, able to make intricate designs for ceremonies and sturdy ones for combat. Vast knowledge of ores and stones she uses to help her family business. History: Nara comes from a long line of smelters and blacksmiths, a family tied to the deepest roots of the earth. Her grandfather Iwao, a son of simple farmers, found his talent of breaking the ores to their purest form, and set himself to perfect his craft. With three generations working the fires to produce the metals Neighpon needed Iwao and his family prospered. His eldest son Kohaku was betrothed to a high class lady named Taki, solidifying themselves in the eyes of the elite. Kohaku went to have a family of his own, resulting in a little ruddy filly they called Nara. A runt of a newborn any passerby would think the red filly wouldn’t do anything worthwhile. She was the weakest of her generation, her cousins able to run faster and play rougher than her. It didn’t help her mother coddled Nara and tried to get her daughter to conform to her ideas on what a lady should be. She would take Nara to fancy parties to mingle with the upper crust, and took her on play dates with foals from influential families. It never interested the red filly, what she was really curious about was her father’s business. She would rather bask in the heat of the smelter, and watch as lumpy ore would turn into gleaming bars of iron, copper, silver, and gold. She would watch her grandmother do business with miners from the window as she worked on her schooling. Her lessons were full of private tutors, one for nearly every subject. Math and writing bored her, but she liked history and the sciences alright enough. As she was reaching her teenage years her father began to school her in his trade. Her grandfather had grown too weak to run the business, and so had left it in Kohaku’s capable hooves. With no other children to speak of he began to train Nara to take over the smelters once it was his time to retire. Nara took to her lessons like a fish to water, finding her magic strongest when working with the ores. Once she started her training it didn’t take long for Nara to receive her cutie mark, effectively tying her to the profession. As she grew Nara became more exposed to other cultures. Ponies and Griffons came from all over to sell their ores to the family. Nara became interested in the foreign cultures, often asking her family’s cook to make exotic meals and even buying into the ponies’ fashion. After her training was complete Nara took a journey off shore to the distant lands. She continued her education with both ponies and griffons, learning their own techniques to use as her own. After two years of travelling Nara returned to her home in Kyoma to further expand on the family business. She had her father invest in expanding the forge, and used her newfound skills to create weapons and armor of all sorts. They gained new clients, also infatuated with the foreign cultures, wanting custom made swords and armor reminiscent of the armor ponies wore, or the swords griffons wielded. Nara has also began using most of her newfound profit to better the city she lives in by donating to better the poorer districts and investing in what she thinks will benefit all. She has even begun to take apprentices from less well-off families who are interested in the trade. Character Personality: Nara is a mare of the people, a salt of the earth smelter who doesn’t do well when it comes to fine airs and grace. She would rather walk amongst the poor and experience the real world than spend her times at fancy parties with the upper crust. She knows when to play nice, but she can be seen as too blunt and harsh by the more well-to-do members of society. She has no time for whining or excuses, and doesn’t like to beat around the bush or sugar coat things. Nara believes in spreading the wealth that she has amassed, and so helps those more in need by investing in infrastructure and programs. Nara is highly superstitious, coming from a very traditional family she follows the legends and rituals to make sure her business prospers. She has the same range of expression as a wet stone. She gets fired up (almost literally) when talking about her passion for ores and stones, and the process her family had perfected. She can be jovial, especially when letting loose around friends after a hard days work. She likes to wrestle with her fellow workers, and her cousins have learned to fear her bear hugs. Besides enjoying her time at work Nara also enjoys the hot springs, working out, and experiencing the different cultures that come to the shores of Neighpon. She enjoys the cuisine and fashion from the far off lands, and when she does have to go to parties with her family she can always be seen in western fashion. Character Summary: Nara is the runt first born of her father, but has shown great promise when working with the forge that has been in her family for three generations. Despite her small size Nara is a spitfire who has trouble fitting in with the newfound high class status her family has come into. She is an equalizer who wants to give everyone a chance to succeed.

Still working on the profile but this is going to be my rp character, currently dubbed Nara. Took me three tires before I was happy with the color scheme. She's a little spitfire smelter in the city of Kyoma who helps to run her family's business. She likes to tussle and is stronger than she appears, and she would rather smelt than attend fancy parties like her mother wants. Expect to see her at some point in the roleplaying world.
  13. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Name: Akairo Hoshi (Translates to: Red Star) Sex: Female Age: Young Mare Species: Kirin Eye color: Jade Green (#00ff99) Coat: Her scales are a forest green (#336633) on the top side of her body, but darken almost to black on her underbelly and fetlocks. Mane/Tail: Lemonade Pink (#ff99cc). She deliberately cuts them unevenly, and allows them to grow ragged and spiky, taking great care to appear careless about her appearance. Physique: Generally athletic. Not showing too much muscle mass, but trimmed of all excess fat. Residence: Wherever oppression cries out for Liberation!... Or wherever the Revolution needs to go to ask for funding... Occupation: Professional Revolutionary, Rabble-Rouser, and all around troublemaker Cutie Mark: A Red, five-pointed star. Akairo Hoshi had been named after the red star (or if you want to get technical, the red planet) which was ascendant at the time of her birth. Her mother had maintained a hobbyist's interest in astrology, passing the name along to her daughter. As the Red Star is in most cultures a harbinger of war and conflict, Akairo's name hung over her like an ill omen throughout her early years. Not that the urban Neighponese were given to superstition, but many of her old, country-bred teachers could be caught giving her sideways looks. And it had to be said, young Akairo did little to assuage their trepidation. She was a rambunctious filly in a society where respect, honor, and tradition weighed significantly heavier on the young than elsewhere. Not that such pressure comes without reaction, specifically the Urban Counter-Culture, which the young Kirin found herself increasingly drawn to as she grew older. In general personality, she was a bit of a fire-breather, and not just because of Kirin breath power. If left unchecked, she could inspire other youths to delinquency. Out of a sense of desperation, and feeling that something needed to be done to shore up national and Imperial pride in the achievements of her ancestors, her parents signed her up for her school's trip that acted as an outpost tour and history lesson of the Neighponese colonization efforts. This was when the ill-omens surrounding her name finally manifested themselves, as the trip soon proved to be concurrent with one of the periodic outbreaks of unrest and revolt in Polyneighsia, specifically in the Fillypines, where her school tour had stopped. They were on the northern island of Hanakotoba when the guerrillas struck. Perhaps it was the presence of the ruins of their forebears that inspired the rebels; in any case, that was where they had made their headquarters. When the school tour group dropped into their laps, so to speak, they jumped at the chance to kidnap for ransom, and negotiation leverage. Akairo, being a headstrong Kirin filly, made no bones about wanting to know exactly what these rebels thought they were doing. Interestingly, instead of kicking her, or telling her to shut up, the guerrilla leader actually answered her questions. At length, telling about the systematic exploitation, disrespect of pre-colonial legacies, and other slights, major and minor, that had inspired him to take up this rebel life. If his aim was to get her to stop asking questions, it worked. In fact, the rapport was enough that the rebels around the schoolfoals relaxed their guard. Akairo, who had been keeping watch over the Red Star which was her namesake all the way there, was able to get a general sense of the way home from the star's position. Using her fire breath to create a distraction, she led a group of students out of the ruins and into the jungle. The march home wasn't that long, but her trouble in keeping the group together, and having to burn holes in the foliage to get a sight of the night sky again, meant that they journey took a full night, day, and another night, giving all the students a taste of real hunger and deprivation by the end of it. Eventually, however, Akairo and her band emerged back onto the Neighponese navy base; and not even the layer of volcanic mud on her could obscure the Red Star on her flank. With her cutie mark gained, along with a reputation for heroism, her parents could hope that this was the start of their daughter turning a corner in her life, perhaps turning that aggression in her personality against the enemies of her country. However, true to her contrary nature, she had a much different destiny in mind for herself... Unique Traits: Akairo's Qilin horns are short; if her mane grows long and wild enough, they can be obscured entirely. Like all Kirin, she has access to breath magic, with a personal affinity towards the element of fire. A lifetime spent in antagonism with authority has not done much to aid her in training or controlling this power, to the point where it can trigger unintentionally if she is speaking or shouting passionately. History: Akairo was born in Polohama, to a couple of salaryponies very much in the middle strata of life. 'Content cogs of the establishment,' as she would call them later in life, but the tone would be unfairly harsh. Both of her Kirin parents were loving, though perhaps unprepared for the bundle of energy and contrariness which they had brought into the world. It was clear from quite an early age that Akairo's temperament would not suit her for a quiet life. She was both physically and mentally uncompliant, resisting discipline by fleeing, and instruction by the asking of very inconvenient questions. She would not be deterred from getting answers for the latter, and if she was blown off too many times by a class instructor, she subsequently lost all respect for them. One of the few ponies who managed to attain and keep her respect, in fact, was her baseball coach, who actually managed to get her to apply herself to practice her skills enough to perform consistently on the diamond. Off the diamond, however, she often incurred suspensions for getting her team-mates into trouble. Then came the trip that changed her life. She came home from a school trip to Polyneighsia with a cutie mark and memories of hardship and rebellion imprinted in her mind. But, these memories did not have the effect that most predicted of her. Because her questions had been answered, promptly and fully, she had more respect for the guerrilla leader than she did for most of her teachers, because she was sure that he at least knew what he was talking about. Her short taste of hardship and hunger had also shown her what he was willing to face, every day, for what he believed in. She kept up with all news of the latest Fillyppines insurgency that she could. It was soon crushed, as usual, but that didn't stop her from seeking out post-analysis articles, and accounts of troop movements during the whole engagement. This actually delighted her parents, who thought that their daughter had finally found her calling in counter-insurgency work, and so used their savings to send her off to the Neighpon Fleet Academy in the capital city of Kyoma. Strange to say, being in close proximity to the wealth and elite of the Neighponese Empire did little to quell her burgeoning revolutionary sympathies. Seeing all this wealth being funneled from the outer islands of Polyneisia into one city, and mostly into the pockets of a few in that city... well, it began to solidify a picture in her mind of what the Empire actually was, beneath the gilt and glamour of national pride. A system of oppression, designed primarily as a means of funneling wealth from one place to another. No different from the caribou raids, really, save for the hypocrisy she could smell like a decaying thing. Try as she might, it was hard to keep these sympathies under wraps. She was diligent in the study of insurgencies, her instructors couldn't deny that, but she tended to pay a lot more attention to the successful ones in Wingapore than the "glorious successes" of the Imperial Navy. And her trouble-making tendencies soon brought tensions to a boiling point, when perceived instrangience on the part of one of her lecturers provoked Akairo into an anti-Imperial tirade, complete with fire-breath that set one of the decorative Regimental banners in the lecture-hall ablaze. Needless to say, the school authorities did not take this incident well. They issued a suspension, and she retaliated by dropping out entirely. She actually ended up playing in a minor sports league after that for a little bit, baseball being the only thing besides guerrilla tactics that she could claim any expertise on. The whole rant in the lecture hall seemed to have blown off her steam for a little while, and while she retained a reputation as an eccentric delinquent, she kept her head out of trouble with the law while playing for one of the Kyoma Wards' team. But all the while, she was preparing. Akairo was convinced that she was living in the heart of an Empire that had to be shown the error of its ways; that the chains which it threw across the ocean had to be broken forever. So she waited, keeping her body in condition as she studied in her spare time. Geography, navigation, political rhetoric, irregular warfare history... all things which she would need to prosecute her new career. And so, on the very day before a scout was to offer her a position on a major league team, in fact, she wrote her farewell letter to the local paper, to be published once she was well on her way out of the home islands. Many in the public and media laughed at her incendiary pronouncements, if they paid them any attention at all. But a few, notably her schoolmates from that fated trip, could not escape a feeling of foreboding when they looked into the night sky to see the Red Star... Character Personality: Akairo is a fire-brand, no two ways about it. She has very definite opinions about 'the establishment,' and is prepared to argue them at length, with a surprising amount of logic to be found interspersed with the fiery words and fiery breath. She's not afraid to make her statements and questions openly, either, and tends to look with contempt upon the sort of insurgents who aren't willing to sign their own, real names to their manifestos. In regards to such groups as WRAITH, for instance, she is on the record as saying, "I fear not the Light of Day, at least!" If you're not put off by her opinions or her style, you'll find a natural leader, one willing to endure hardship for the sake of her ideals, and willing to offer respect for any who do the same. Even if you don't agree with her, being willing to debate at similar lengths and in similar conditions will win you esteem. Her fighting skills are not quite as sharp as her rhetoric, though in terms of improvised and irregular fighting, she can hold her own well enough. Her favored weapon is the baseball bat, for obvious reasons, though the one she carries now is a heavier, metal version of the one she would thrill the crowds with, back at home. While fiery in her tone, she is not hasty. She appreciates the planning and preparation that go into a proper insurgency, as well as the financial backing necessary. Hence, why the first one is so long delayed. Do it wrong, and you don't get another chance. She's even willing to put her personal agenda aside, if a more promising revolutionary opportunity appears. Practice, after all, makes perfect. Character Summary: A firebrand revolutionary Kirin, with a particular beef against the Neighponese Empire and exploitation of the Polyneighsions.

This is a (bad rendering of a) technique Nimbus used in MLP : Roleplaying is Magic, the kirin. We had a fairly action-oriented campaign. He used this to fight on equal terms when our dragon friend flipped out and went thru a gold-crazy growth spurt. XD
