~~~Ice Storm~~~ The past several months had been tedious and busy for Ice Storm. Between running recon for STAR, running the casino, and checking in on her franchise of dessert parlors. It kept a mare much busier than any pony should ever be. Family time, was sparse and there was finally a bit of a lul here. Finances were ahead of schedule, inspections were finished, and Frozen Delights was operating as efficiently as ever. That being said, while they had spent evenings together before at home, it wasn't the same as being able to bring able to get time specifically devote to your special somepony, and that is entirely what tonight was about. And what better place to do that, than a place both of them loved dearly. Tsiyukomi's. The fancy Neighponese restaurant that was down at the end of the strip. Home of some of the tastiest noodles in all of Las Pegasus. And they was exactly where she was taking Raven to tonight. In fact, they were already here waiting in the foyer to be seated. Sitting next to them was another couple that was looking for a break from the limelight. A couple that was looking to just to get some time for themselves, save for a few friends. Wind was no stranger to being a celebrity as she was one of the most popular dancers in the city. Mostly because of her heart, and hey desire to not let game and fortune go to her head like most do. As it was, she would nuzzle into Raven, and wait for them to be called to be seated. It was already somewhat loud in the lobby and didn't want to miss the call for their table.
Welp, this was it! This was the day that Wind Dancer had been looking forward to since that fateful night in Ponyville. She was currently getting reading into one of the gazebo turned dressing rooms for the event. Today was the day that this single mare, married the stallion of her dreams. It was almost ironic that it ended up being the colt that grew up next door to her in Cloudsdale, even though they never truly met until they came here to Las Pegasus. In fact, that's exactly why the two of them had chosen this place. The Las Pegasus Central District Park. Right under the very tree that Sky had sneezed and dropped leaves on her from when they first met. She could still remember that day vivdly and she still chuckled every time she remembered that face. As it was now though, she was incredibly antsy and was ready to get everything started. Something that her mother was getting very annoyed with. "Windy, I know you're anxious dear, but please for all that is holy please stop squirming. You're making lining this up very difficult," her mother said, trying to line up the zipper on the dress and the the buttons for the trails. With a long zip, the two mares looked in the mirror, and Morning couldn't help but wipe a tear from her eyes. "You okay mom?" "Yes sweetie. It's just hard to see the beautiful mare that you've grown into. I still see you as the little filly I raised all those years ago. But I also can't be any more proud of the mare that you've become. You've become a beacon of hope for so many ponies and you've helped so many others... There just aren't many ponies like you in the world anymore, and I'm so happy that you managed to find one of the few other ponies like that who fits you so perfectly," she said, pulling her little filly into a hug, one that Wind returned. "Well, I had a good rock. Even when I was reluctant to come back to Cloudsdale I never stopped thing about you and dad. There are no words to describe how happy I am that both of you are here to witness this, even if dad might have his hooves full with Glimmer right now," Wind giggled. After a few final adjustments, Morning smiled. "Are you ready to become a married mare?" she asked with a smile, watching Wind return the smile and nod. "Good, it's almost time. they should be sending the ushers here soon."
At long last, she was finally here! Cloudfeather pressed her face to the window of the airship as the towering buildings and attractions of Los Pegasus came into view. Sure, it would have been cheaper and easier to fly herself, but then she would have missed out on the experience that all other ponies got when they made the journey to the most toured city in Equestria! Her wings flapped involuntarily out of excitement and anticipation as the airship crawled slowly towards the city. She gathered up her bags and items and prepared to exit the airship, though an attendant informed her it would be at least a half hour before they landed. When at long last the doors opened and the platforms descended, Cloudfeather shot out of the ship like an arrow, flying as high as she good to get a perfect view of the city. It was amazing! Everything she ever could have hoped for! She saw eager tourists of all shape, size, and species wandering about, chatting excitedly! Flashing lights and sounds, a wide enough variety that it was liable to give a pony sensory overload! Buildings taller than she had ever seen! As quickly as she had bolted to the sky, she tore for the ground, landing quite ungracefully yet still maintaining a bounce in her step. Anypony else in her situation would be singing an improvised song, complete with self-harmonies, full instrumentation, and even some cool choreography right now, but Cloudfeather decided to keep the song in her heart and her head. Her coworkers tended to dislike it when she sang (something about being "tone-deaf"), and she doubted the Los Pegasus ponies were any different. In any case, this did little to decrease the spring in her step as she jaunted to her hotel and got checked in. Oh the sights she would see! She tossed her bags onto the bed and then flew out the window, surveying the town to decide where she wanted to go first. After a few moments' deliberation, she decided on the building directly across the street. Down she dove and directly into the building, leaving the rotating door behind her spinning faster than the eye could detect. The building was essentially what she had expected: an arcade full of ponies eager to trade their bits for the chance to win tickets. All sorts of entertainment floated between the machines, including performers, ads for shows, and of course, portraits of the owners, Flim and Flam. What to do first! She supposed she could see a show... Her wage as an engineer afforded her plenty of bits for the journey, so she didn't want to blow them all on the slot machines and arcades just yet... Looking around the room, she spotted a poster advertising "The Greatest Dancers in Equestria!" Now that was something she'd pay to see! She exchanged her bits for tickets and was entering the auditorium in no time at all.
Candy Corn A young mare, barley out of school age stood at the front desk of the Grand Marerage Hotel. Receiving her key, she would give the desk clerk a soft smile. "Third Floor. Turn left off the elevator. I'm afraid that it's not much of a view however." "Thanks," Candy would say, a bit of nervousness in her voice. "If you have any questions, just ask. Your luggage should be up shortly...Excuses me Miss, but where is your luggage?" Candy bushed in embarrassment. "Right here," as she pointed to a rather worn wheeled suitcase and her own saddlebags. "I can-" "No Need to worry. We'll have it right up to your room. Now please, get to know the city. I'm sure it's quite a bit different from where your from...which is?" Candy would chime in. "Bittsburgh!" The clerk's facial expression said it all. The basic room, the run down luggage, and the name of the small town near Fillydelphia. The house wouldn't be making much on this guest. His expression grew even more dire as Candy levitated a coupon book. "Oh, Blue Two. That looks fun. We have a little amusement park near Bittsburgh with an old wooden one. I wonder how this one compares?" Candy would turn toward the elevator head to her room. "A quick nap first before exploring," she said with a yawn before boarding the elevator. As Candy opened the door, she would sit on the bed and sigh. She had just one week in Las Pegasus. One week to enjoy her coming of age...and one week to try to find her biological father. All information she had gathered said he now lived here. She levitated a picture an old, wrinkled photo of her mother and him. That's all she had to go on. Closing her eyes, she would doze off for who knew how long before a knock would wake her. "Miss Corn, I have your bags," the bellpony said. Opening the door, she smiled. "Thank you so much. Just set them dawn over by the window." As he left, she would make her way down stairs once more, guide map held in her orange aura. "Blue or food..." she mumbled to herself while walking...right into somepony. Looking up she would blush from embarrassment. "I am soooo sorry. I should have been paying attention to where I was walking. You must think I'm a real Jag...Wait a moment, your that pretty mare from the billboard I saw outside, aren't you? Your famous!" Her eyes widened as she beamed a smile. "Um...Allow me to buy you lunch to make it up to you." as she brought out the coupon book once more.
Ice Storm's Casino, the bar : "Don't see you out this way too often cuz !" Icepick (a sand colored pegasus stallion) said to Tongue Twister, "What brought you out ? Checking up on one of your dad's money-making ventures again ?" "No. Not this time." she replied, "They're considering downsizing back at the Manehattan museum. So I got in on the ground floor of something out here before things went pear shaped back home." "Bogus ! The MMNH not need translators of ancient artifacts anymore ?" "They do. It's just that they can get three translator interns from the college for what they pay me." "Ah." "So, this is the newest casino. Kind of ice themed." "Yeah ! Great place ! Overcast got her first real job as a dealer at the poker tables last week !" "Sweet !" "So, how things at your new job ?" "Reminds me of a joke." Tongue Twister replied, "An ice goddess, an invincible warrior, a Shadow Lord and a mortal walk into a bar. The staff set up a table for three." Tongue Twister leaves the table and starts walking away. "Wait, what ?" Icepick replies, "Was that a joke ? Where's the punchline ?" "I said it reminded me of a joke." she replied, "I never claimed it was a good one." Icepick watched her leave, greatly confused. "TT always was a little off." he thought to himself as he finished the drink she left behind, "Shady Dealer should have never married a unicorn !" TT entered the base, deep in thought. -- -- Having devised something that vaguely resembled a plan, T Twister went to the base's locker room to stow her bags. She'd recently received a care package from her parents in Canterlot - homemade snacks, and a magazine from her father. Tales Of The Almost Unbelievable, Issue # 472. With stories with titles like 'The Human That Fell Into The Sky', 'Hayburger Zombies', 'How a Street Thug Beat A God', and 'Orange Frogs and Poodle Teacups' "I don't know where dad finds these things, but they're always a hoot !" she chuckled to herself as she put it in her bag. "Okay you two - no funny business until I get back !" she stated to Ace and Deuces. Ace gave her a salute, while Deuces sort of half saluted, yawned, then went back to sleep. T Twister went to the gym for yet more training (alongside the rest of the 'fodder'), and waited for someone to show up.
Journalism. If there was ever a way for a pony's reputation to be ruined, or immortalize, it was through the written words of the papers, and Ice Storm despised this. It was all to easy for somepony to start a rumor and spread around through the paper that something is happening when there's really nothing going on at all. However, Ice also was becoming increasingly aware of the fact that having a journalist on your side and able to say things in your favor, was important. Tempest had brought this to her attention several times in the last few months, as well as Sombra, and most of the ponies that she sought advice from. She hated dealing with them though, especially when she thought back to how they turned the attack on the Crystal Empire into a propaganda attack on the sisters themselves. Ice Storm let out a sigh as she leaned back at her desk. She absolutely hated being here... She loved her hotel and casino, and her organization and everything that came with it, but she was a mare of action... not a mare to be stuck behind a desk waiting for others to arrive for a matter of potential business. She pulled out one of the articles from the pony of whom she had summoned to meet her here today. It was the article on the Crystal Empire attack. In fact it was multiples of them. There was one talking about whether they could trust the Caribou and whether the aid that they sent was a ruse for them to let their guard down once more. There was another talking about the conditioning of the guards and how they were woefully unprepared for defending Equestria and her ponies in time of need... It was one of the few articles she found that she actually agreed with from the attack. Then there was the one that Bluebelle had shown her. The one that tried to shoulder all of the blame for the attack onto the princesses and tried to question the leadership of the ponies that had lead Equestria for millennia. She stood up, unable to keep herself seated anymore as she waited and she walked over to her window that overlooked downtown Las Pegasus. The lush padded carpet sank under her hooves. The design itself that spread across the floor looked like a pool of magma trying to spill through a rapidly melting sheet of ice. Ice could see the ponies outside going about their daily lives and she smiled. She knew that everypony in this city had a secret to hide, but that didn't mean that they were all bad ponies. Just that sometimes you need to do a few things behind the scenes to get things done. A sentiment that she knew herself very well, considering what most of these ponies were walking on without even knowing. Then of course, you have the three hour walk from the stop of the elevator to the ship yard where her supership was being built. It was coming along nicely at this point hull wise, but getting some of the internal parts and getting them into the shipyard unnoticed was proving to be a bit tricky. She took a deep breath and then looked up to the clock. "He should be here any minute," she said letting her spheres break away from her necklace, and orbit her neck, dropping the air temperature a bit in the room to make herself. She would worry about the comfort of her guest once she got the answers she wanted.
Though Cloudsdale was home to Whirligig, she still enjoyed travelling. She'd visited various cities in Equestria, from Stalliongrad to Ponyville. She wasn't really a globe-trotter, but every once in a while, the travelling bug would bite her for a weekend or so and she would suddenly decide to leave her home and see the world. It was such a wide, wide world.One evening, she was at a restaurant with some of her friends as a result of Eastra being back from University in Canterlot for her mid-semester break. She and some friends had been talking about their travels, and Merry Ray mentioned Las Pegasus. "I've never been to Las Pegasus before," Whirligig had said. Her friends stared at her, dumbfounded. "You, the travelling pony who adores clouded cities, have never been to Las Pegasus?" Merry Day exclaimed. "No," Whirligig replied, taking another sip of her cocktail. "Why? Is it really actually amazing?" "Yes!" three ponies answered at the same time. "You have to go!" Whirligig shrugged. "Alright, I'll go have a look. I'm free next weekend; does anypony want to go with me?" "I'll be back in Canterlot then." "Dizzy and I are going to Ponyville." "Sorry, I have to work weekends." "Would love to, but I have to babysit my little sisters." "Great, you girls are awesome," Whirligig replied sarcastically. "Come on you guys, it won't be any fun on my own! I travel solo enough as it is." But Whirligig still wanted to go. She had heard about the city and seen black-and-white photographs. She resolved to ask her brother to go with her, and was on her way to the post office with a letter inviting him along when she collided with a familiar yellow-maned weather pony. She recognized this pony as Flashbomb, a newcomer to Cloudsdale she had befriended a few days prior. When asked what her hurry was, she explained, in her usual fashion, much more than the pony needed to know. The conversation had ended with her inviting him to accompany her to Las Pegasus. Unlike her friends from earlier, he accepted the invitation. Plans were made, a route was decided on (fly down to Ponyville, then grab an overnight train from there. It was a long trip, after all), saddlebags were packed, and within a few days, the two ponies were headed south, on their way to Las Pegasus. "This is so exciting, Flashbomb! I've heard so much about Las Pegasus and I can't believe I've never been." Whirligig could barely sit down or contain her excitement. The train ride had been rather long and boring, but finally the engine rounded a bend along the southern tip of the Everfree Forest, and the city that was part cloud, part mountain came into view. Within due time, the train pulled into the mountainside station and the two Cloudsdaleites disembarked from the carriage, Whirligig chattering away ceaselessly. "Wow, this place is amazing! Did you see that rainbowfall from the train? It was just like the ones we have in Cloudsdale! And that big casino with all the neon lights. That looks like a huge shopping centre over that way. And look, over there! Unicorns and earth ponies walking on clouds! Oh, this place really is magical! I'm so glad you agreed to come with me, Flashbomb, even though we've only just met. It wouldn't have been quite as much fun all by myself! Oh, I'm so excited I don't even know where to look first! What about you? Where do you want to go? You decide what we should do first!"
Outside the moon looked down upon the sky with tender love and care, shining in all its glory with the craters in its distant surface giving it added character to its sole appearance. Stars, shimmering and glimmering, accompanied the moon in the navy blue sky. Unfortunately, the sky couldn't be seen lest you were in the outskirts of the large city. Las pegasus was full of tall, multi-tiered buildings and flashing lights. Cobble-stone sidewalks and pathways were built upon the ground for everypony to walk upon. The streets were filled with cart-pulling ponies trying to transport others to their desired destination for bits at a time. Some ponies were snazzily dressed, and others weren't so properly threaded. Las Pegasus truly has everything you could imagine. From fancy restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops to carnivals, casinos, and opera houses. It was quite a cultural city. Well varied and balanced with all kinds of ponies. Not to mention outside of its "entertainment districts" were residential flats and condeminiums which ponies lived. However, on this particular night and in this brightly lit city, a particular show was sold out. This was one of the most popular nights at the Carnival in Las Pegasus. Their latest advertisement concerned of an earth pony by the name of Tinder Foot, and a few stunt ponies that were to perform. The occupancy for the inside of the carnival held about several thousand. The exterior was camoflauged by a dark red tent striped in gold. But the interior was a dome with wooden benches up to seven tiers, two entry ways and a stump at the center of the circular stage. Four beams lined the interior of the tent to prop it up. It wasn't much of anything special. Functional at most. It was the atmosphere that gave the place its energy. Every performer thrived on energy. And tonight, the energy was in the house of the Circus. The members of the circus fed on it, used that as motivation. Especially Tinder Foot. She couldn't wait to show her stuff. It was just a matter of waiting for the seats to be filled and her part of the show to begin. [Note: Ill progress the show of the circus that way things don't get confusing. Open join so come one come all! ]
