The Northern Storm Industries (NSI) Machine Tech Expo is an annual event with a history tracing back many years now. Northern Storm, the innovative founder of NSI, Staliongrad's foremost machine tech corporation, started the event as a means to gather like-minded innovators all in one place to show off the latest in technical craft. Starting out as a small gathering, the Expo is now a major event attracting many technically minded ponies from all throughout Equestria and beyond to Stalliongrad each year, where they get a chance to show off their latest creations to the public. This year, Snowfall, current CEO of NSI, hopes to make this year's expo bigger and more sure to attract big talent than ever before, by holding a competition as a part of the show. Monetary rewards and product contracts to help fund and support the inventor project will be given out to the most promising of the show. Got an OC with a talent for technology? This might just be the perfect thread to show off them and their ingenuity, allow them to meet characters with similar interests and hopefully also lead to new RP opportunities in the future. It will take place in Stalliongrad, I will playing the host of the show, Snowfall, and it'll be open to all interested OCs and cast characters who want to see the expo. However, if you intend for your character to take part in the show and not just visit, I ask that you sign up here first. So If you have a character who you think is right for this event, just post here with a link to your app and I'll add you to the list! Characters Involved: Gears "Sparks" Clockwise
Snowfall glanced around somewhat anxiously. This was it, the moment she had long been fearing and anticipating. Since meeting her fillyfriend Pathfinder, she hadn't really had a chance yet to really present her. Their first date happened in the seclusion of Bareback Gulch, where Snowfall was unknown. Their second date, Daringcon, happened in a very busy location full of many ponies who might have had connections, but Snowfall had been in costume, her coat completely painted up and a fake unicorn horn on her head to make her look like a Daring Do character. Now it was time for the third, and here they were in Snowfall's own Stalliongrad. The occasion was an NSI company party. This wasn't like the elaborate anniversary banquet she had held not too many months ago that had lead to her finding her contacts for the Trans Equestria Railroad Project, it was a more insular and private occasion held to celebrate team solidarity or some such thing that the board had decided upon and that she was pretty sure most there would roll their eyes at. Everyone there was either employed by the company, or there as a guest of somepony who was. Relatively formal dress was expected, but Snowfall was making an effort to keep it from being too stuffy an occasion. There was nothing worse than some mandatory party being forced upon the employees that it was impossible to have fun at. The music was kept light and modern; the food kept equally light and plentiful. They had drinks, but nothing too aggressively strong. The decorations to the hall being used were colorful but not garish. Everything was very safe, and in Snowfall's opinion perhaps a little too so. This was a good chance to debut with Pathfinder besides her though. It was just her company, so for fear of their job no pony there was going to say anything about her rather unorthodox choice of date. It was formal by Pathfinder's standards, but it wasn't so classy and stuck up itself that she would catch the judging eyes of a bevy of upper crust types just for being Pathfinder. It was small, it was safe, and it was a perfect opportunity; after all, she had no intention of hiding Pathfinder from anypony. She was also rather eager to see the pony in something other than her typical Daring Do costume. She was already picturing it in her head. Unfortunately, Snow and her date were not able to show up to the event together. Pathfinder had been doing what she did best, adventuring, but Snow had given her the time and address and in her letter Pathfinder had promised she would make it in time. Snowfall just knew that she would make good on that promise too, even if she turned up just slightly late. This was fine. it gave her time to mingle with the rest of her loyal employees. Set to do just that, Snow's eyes focused in on a single young face. Sparks was his name, and he was a bright young colt. It was hard not to feel good about his case. She had handed him a shining opportunity after stumbling upon him by chance. After training he had spent a little over a month and a half in Manehattan, and according to her top engineer, Vivid Flair, he had been a sterling asset to the team as they worked on the Railroad Project. He had only just got back to Stalliongrad and this was the first time Snow had seen him since. Greetings were definitely in order. "Hello, Sparks," she said as she approached him. "It's great to see you've returned safely. How was Manehattan?"
I didn't think I'd be designing a completely new pony for a while considering I already have a number of characters sitting around that I created for my fanfic thing. But after reading the Stalliongrad topic several times, I couldn't stop the ideas from coming together. Name: Snowfall (sometimes goes by just Snow) Sex: female Age: Mare (late twenties equivalent) Species: Pegasus Pelt colour: snowy white Mane/Tail/Markings colour & Style: powder blue in colour. Both mane and tail are long and flowing, with a gentle wave to it. Eye colour: bright blue Cutie Mark: A snow globe of a city with plenty of snow falling over it. Physique: Relatively tall and fit. Almost always dressed in some clothing, depending on the occasion (stylish dresses for social events, suits for business ventures and something warm most of the rest of the time). She favors black and other dark colours for how they contrast her natural pale colours. Origin: Stalliongrad Roleplay Type: Mane Occupation: Acting CEO of Northern Storm Industries. Motivation: Snow is driven to further the interests of her company and city, see as much of the world as she can, and maybe one day find her father, all while having as much fun as she can. Likes: social gatherings, fine foods, adventure, her city, fashionable clothing. Dislikes: being pampered excessively, ponies who would spoil her fun, heat. Character Summary: Snowfall was born to parents Northern Storm and Crystal Snowflake. Her father, Northern Storm was a self-made business stallion, who built his company, Northern Storm Industries, from the ground up with nothing but hard work, business savvy, resources and a considerable amount of luck. Northern Storm Industries, which specialized in various kinds of machinery and construction, eventually became a big name in the city of Stalliongrad. As Northern's enterprises expanded, his family life blossomed. By the time Snowfall was born, her father's factory had become one of the more profitable in all of Stalliongrad. As a result, the foal was raised in privilege from the start; however, her father, a very industrious stallion who believed in diligence above all else, did not let his only child grow negligent. From her youth, Snowfall was made to study rigorously in preparation of one day working for the company. Snowfall was luckily quite bright and intuitive. She performed admirably in her studies and by the time she was a filly her father had nothing but high hopes for her future. Still, the filly did have something of a taste for mischief. Snow would often escape from the family mansion in the Vysokii district to explore the other many districts of Stalliongrad. After many such excursions, she learned to appreciate each of them for their unique function in keeping the city moving. While exploring the Ostrov district on a gentle, snowy day, something in her clicked and her cutie mark, a city locked in a picturesque snow globe, appeared. She knew from then on, that once she was a part of her father's company, she was going to do everything she could to keep the city she loved strong and beautiful. As Snowfall attended school at the University of Stalliongrad, her father continued to prosper. A second factory opened and branch offices were constructed in both Manehatten and Talonopolis. Snow's father became obsessed with expanding his business into an even wider reaching empire. It was with this goal in mind that he left on an expedition financed by the company to the far off Badlands where dragons were said to roam to see firsthand what opportunities and resources existed there. It was on this voyage that Northern Storm and the entire rest of the expedition would vanish without a trace, never to be seen again. Her mother knowing nothing of business, Snowfall, still in her final year of university was named head of her father's company in his absence. The young mare let others run operations for her at first, but as the years past she gradually took on more responsibility. Under her command the company continued to thrive, expanding both in and out of Stalliongrad. Snowfall is dedicated to her company, but the mare is still far from all business. In fact, she is actually quite playful in personality, constantly making with casual jokes and enjoying nothing more than a good social event. Though she cares deeply for the people of Stalliongrad, she has a somewhat mixed reputation with them, some perceiving her as spoiled, cocky and cold, not worthy of carrying on her father's legacy. Snowfall is a sharp, intelligent pony with a great sense of intuition about how most things work. She is bold, and when its to her advantage a bit of a flirt. She has expensive tastes but she's far from sheltered and still able to appreciate the smaller things. She is also filled with a want to explore. She loves her city, but someday she wishes to venture out from it to see the world. One day even, she hopes to finance a major expedition to the Badlands in hopes of finding out the truth about what happened to her father. Snowfall is not without her faults, however. She can be quite arrogant and defensive, especially in regards to her father and her company. When she is personally attacked however, her reaction is more one of extreme anxiety. Though she has found a confident voice in her father's absence, she will often doubt she is truly doing as he would want, which makes criticism much more painful. Furthermore, Snow often does not take her work quite seriously enough. She tries to be involved in the company and make the big decisions personally, but her want to socialize and have fun will often cause her to push aside the more menial work or delegate it to somepony else. Additionally, she doesn't have a lot of patience, has a certain disregard for her own safety and has no real desire to commit to relationships.
