Applejack walked into the dining room, where Granny Smith and her little sis Apple Bloom were waiting for her. Applejack had called a meeting. "Alright y'all. Here's the problem. We got a heapin' pile of extra apples sitting in the barn and they are all surplus apples from last week that didn't sell. That big party Pinkie threw for Twilight at Sugarcube Corner in celebration of Twilight's second year living in Ponyville filled so many ponies with cakes and cookies that they musta notta needed to buy their usual amount of Sweet Apple Acres apples. And it resulted in us having all these apples that wont sell and will spoil soon if we don't get them moved on outta here." Applejack was frustrated. She hated it when the farm's business hit bumps in the road. It was a lot of hard physical labor just to get the farm running at productive levels of profit, even harder when sales figures became affected by the weather, theft, wild animals, and pinkie's parties. Applejack slammed her hoof on the table. "So what are we gonna do? We gotta get these apples sellin' without just givin' them away fer free. Any ideas?" Applejack paused and looked at her grandmother and sister, both of them pretty quiet and reserved, at least for ten seconds. "Anything?"

For my third day of Hippo week, I'd like to honor my B.P.R.P.F.F. (Best Pony Role Play Friend Forever), SteelEagle. Over the years, him and I have posted many ponies, and occasionally did so in the form of text chat. This allowed us to react to each other in a different, more immediate way, as well as add some story fill to other role players in threads that require some dialogue to expand the scope of the narrative. We did it when it called for it, but mostly we did it because it's really fun! If you have ever thought about doing this kind of thing, I would recommend it. Find someone who is on at the same time as you and duke it out in character back and forth. Here are three joint posts Steel and I published just this past weekend:

Greetings ponies! This is an interest check to see if anyone would be interested in traditional style 1-on-1 pony battle role plays. By "traditional", I mean that each pony will have a mini profile of their abilities and spells/attacks. During the 1-on-1 battle, the outcome of each attack is determined using logic and random numbers, which the Game Master keeps track of. Each pony will have a basic ability profile, which would work like this: *Each of 5 abilities will have a number, 1 to 10, with 1 being that ability is very weak and 10 is the ability is very strong *The total of all 5 ability numbers when added up shall not exceed 30, unless consent by both RPers is agreed on for a higher or lower total. *The abilities will be as follows: > Speed and Agility - On the offensive side, the higher the number, the less likely it is for your attack to miss the other pony. On the defensive end, the higher the number, the more likely it is for the other pony's attack to miss your pony. > Strength - On the offensive end, The higher the number, the more damage is possible with your pony's attacks. On the defensive end, the higher the number, the less chance your pony has of taking heavy damage. > Immunity - The higher the number, the less chance there is of a manipulation spell (such as sickness) from the other pony working on your pony. > Health - The higher the number, the higher the life cap is for your pony (your pony can handle more damage). > Energy - The higher the number, the quicker your energy points regenerate each turn, allowing you to more quickly cast more advanced spells and attacks. *Each pony will have a max of 5 different spells and attacks (combined) that he/she can use in battle (excluding the "mystery amulet"). They will each also have a max of 3 different potions they can use on themselves. Attacks almost solely do nothing more than damage to the other pony. However they require less energy points than spells. Spells however can do many things, such as damage, reduction in speed / strength / immunity / energy / etc., manipulation, and so on. However they require more energy points than attacks typically. > Players are allowed to choose what attacks, spells, and potions they will have for their pony. However, the amount of energy points required for the attack / spell, and the number of times each potion can be used, is determined by the game master with the agreement of the player. > The more damage an attack or spell is capable of, the more energy points it requires. *There will be a "mystery amulet" that both ponies can use during battle. Basically, it's an extra spell/attack available for use to both ponies. The spell/attack is determined by the game master and is announced before battle begins. *Unicorns can use their horn for spells. However if a pegasus or Earth Pony wishes to cast spells, he/she must use an amulet, which can be snatched away by the other pony via. the use of a specific attack. Tell me what you think and if you have any suggestions. If this has interest, I may begin a one-on-one in the FFA for two ponies who sign up. I may do more in the future.

In Ponyville. there lives a Stallion. Age 27, Retired Military Pony, Father of 2 little foals. Maximus Flare is his name. An orange unicorn that is a expert in magic and the pony mind. His cutie mark is 2 crossed blades behind a shield with a orange and blue flame insignia on the front of the shield. Upon his retire from the military he became a teacher of magic to unicorn foals all over Equestria. He mainly works in Canterlot so he takes the train everymorning and back in the evening. Just a normal unicorn living his life happily. His foals. Maxi Jr Flare and Heavenly Shine are two 7 year old foals who attend Cheerilee's School House in Ponyville. Heavenly is a sweet dark yellow unicorn filly who is still a blank flank trying to find out her talent. MJ is a orange unicorn colt who's cutie mark is a blue flame with and medical cross. One evening Maximus got home from work and decdied to take his foals into Canterlot for something to eat. Upon his foals arrival to Canterlot they walked around looking for a place to eat.

Character accents and visualizations are not always essential to role play. Especially in fan-fiction, very little beyond a borrowed image will ever be featured next to the abyss of words that were created by someone with audacity to ship Rarity and Rainbow Dash together. But in forum role play, in my opinion, the rules can be stretched. There are several tools I like to use to help illustrate my character's point of view, quirks, and jesters, and sometimes without even knowing I'm doing it. There's no secret that the key to good role play writing exists in the ability to get 'in-character'. That is, focusing on what the character feels, thinks, does, eats, walks, talks, and even neighs. But sometimes, when writing your play, the translation of character gets lost in the vocabulary you chose, and in the way the reader chooses to read it. And there are waays of manipulating how the reader reads. Like how misspelling the word 'way' got your attention. Don't. You. Love. That. Little. Voice. In. Your. Head. That. Pauses. Every. Time. There. Is. A. Period. It's not really a trick, but rather a structural habit that we humans have when reading literature. These things can be added more or less, depending on how you want your character to read. Sometimes, even the way you spell, or mispell (intentionally) a word, is what draws out the reader to force a certain style of reading. Take Applejack for example. She's southern comfort, so obviously I want to start drawling out her sentences. Give her a phonetic twang that identifies not the way the character spells, but the way the character talks. Compare, "I love all of these apples," with "Ah love all o' these apples." Changing the spelling of the word, allows the reader to more comfortably read in Applejack's tone. You can also change the way the characters uses the words in a sentence. This can be done by changing out words, or it can also be done by simply italicizing them. "Ah love all of them apples," not only makes Applejack sound like she's saying something in a more outlandish way but also puts emphasis on the probable context of whatever it is she is talking about. If she had said, "Ah love all of these apples," the context draws a nearer more intimate approach, and even implies that Applejack is either holding something, or is looking down around the ground near her. Now, try reading this: "Music is such a great thing for a pony. I love listening to my favorite songs when I'm feeling sad. And on days when I'm not near a music player, I simply whistle while I go about my day." The way it's written, you could guess that anypony could have said this. It's possible that the character has a very normal accent (or rather, the accent of the reader), but usually, the player would like to personify an accent that makes whoever is saying this obvious to the reader. Now try reading it again: "Music is such a great thing for a pony. Ah love listening to mah favorite songs when I'm feeling sad. And on days when I'm not near a music player, I simply whistle while I go about my day." Chances are, you read that in Applejack's voice. And whats interesting is I only changed two words. What occurs in the mind when reading, especially silently, is when you read a phonetic stylization of a word in a sentence, you read the rest of the dialog in your mind in that dialect until the caption is finished. Despite the second half of the quote containing none of AJ's verbal mannerisms, you still heard it in AJ's voice because your mind was completing the caption she was already speaking with her southern drawl. So if you have a character that has a funny accent, you need not change the whole dialog phonetically. Just change a couple words at the start of the dialog, and the reader's imagination will do the rest. Using different spellings of words and using excessive or no punctuation manipulates how the reader reads your product. If you have a hyper character, use run-on sentences while the pony is talking. If your character is shy, you could even make the font tiny, if that option is available to you. And if your character has one of those voices that is just distinguished and sizzles when you hear it, italicize every other word to make the character's words jump. There are so many ways you can create visualizations of your pony using words. The way you spell, write and organize your writing will be the main objective in trying to help the reader know exactly what your character feels like when they enter a room or when they are talking. And you didn't have to use any pictures. Pictures are nice too, though!

About Myself: I am a fan of the show who loves role play. I prefer unusual characters who thrive on awkwardness and create unique situations. How I found Canterlot.com: Google How I became a fan of MLP:FiM: My friend jokingly told me to watch it and I fell into the trap. My favourite main cast pony/s: Rainbow Dash,Twilight Sparkle I just recently found your website after my old role play website sort of passed on into obscurity. I'm hoping to start up some new stories once I get my characters remade to fit into the format of this website. I'll try and be patient as I wait for character approval.

"Oh?" She said with a cold smile on her features "Is alchemy his second calling?" She gave the pegasus a slightly condescending looks. She already regretted asking her for help at all. She sighed, trotting behind her, ruffling her wings a little, airing her feathers. "Let's see what he has to say."
