[Cloudsdale] Hot and cold - Hitting the clubs (Summerfall; PM for invite)

"What have I gotten myself into here?" the white pegasus mumbled as she stood there, waiting for her friend to arrive. It had all happened so fast, and all of the sudden she had had no choice but just go with it. She felt a little uncomfortable already, all alone in the middle of the entertainment district of that dreadful city.

It all began a few days ago. Opal had been on her rare visits to Cloudsdale, because as much as she hated coming here, it was the only place she could get the ingredients she needed for her performances. By chance she had run into somepony she hadn't seen for months. It was Summerfall, one of the ponies that had worked in the weather factories during her time there. And even though Opal Shards wasn't too keen on remembering that dead end job, she had to concede that the breaks in the cafeteria hadn't been all that bad.

So they had been talking for a while, and she had learned all kinds of things about Summerfall's career choices, and before she know what had happened, Opal had promised to go to that new club in town. And now she was here, waiting for the golden pegasus to arrive.

Opal Shards stepped on the spot nervously. Her clothing selection was scarce at best. Luckily she had bought a summer dress fairly recently. It was milky white and fairly plain, but her build made her look elegant in most everything she wore. And she didn't want to attract too much attention anyway. 'Otherwise I could have worn my Shadowbolt uniform.' she though gloomily. She had opted for a pair of light sunglasses, too, to lessen the effect of her piercing, red eyes somewhat.

And so she stood there, waiting to be picked up.

Summerfall floated nearly weightlessly in the thin atmosphere, the Equestrian landscape below covered by a thin veil of clouds as she slowly flapped her wings. This high above her home and the lands around it, problems seemed so far away, almost as though she could just float forever in the endless quiet. This was one of the favorite parts about her job, suiting up in a thermal body suit and searching for any new occurrences in the highest reaches of the sky. The temperature was brutally frigid at that altitude, but she was willing to bet not many other ponies had seen the curvature of their planet either. It was a different world up here.

A twinging numbness in her wings brought the golden pony out of her reverie, reminding her that no matter how warm her body might be, she couldn't fly with wingmuffs. And exposing her appendages to this kind of intense cold for too long was just a bad idea, so she took one more look around the ethereal skyscape before angling downward toward home. Nothing unusual today.

The speed of her descent and the sunlight reflecting off of her tinted goggles gave Summerfall the appearance of a comet falling from above, her wings held tightly to her sides as she plummeted through the cloud cover and burst into the warmer air below. Streams of white vapor clung to her suit before trailing off as she flared her wings and began to glide toward the floating city of Cloudsdale, soaring over the puffy buildings and businesses until she spied the entertainment district below. Soon enough her target came into view, and the weather pony dipped to come to a galloping stop before Opal Shards.

"Opal, hey!" she exclaimed, lifting her goggles and shaking water droplets from her mane and body. "It looks like you found the place okay. You ready to party?" the pegasus squealed.

While searching the sky for signs of her friends, Opal had noticed fairly early a small figure descending from an extraordinary height. She had watched the little dot in the distance for a while, her thoughts going back to when she worked at the weather factory. She remembered hearing about the other weather teams, those that flew so high that they could see almost all of Equestria, from the Strands all the way to the Badlands. She had heard up there, the air was even colder then the coldest winter.

She would never be able to fly that high. It was one of the drawbacks of her unusual growth. Granted, her wings and her muscular build allowed her to fly with the best of fliers, but you can't trick gravity like that. Oh, she tried. A lot, actually. But it hadn't worked.

She sighed, looking up into the sky. The little dot had moved out of sight. Before she knew what happened, and even had time to think about it, the golden pegasus had landed next to her.

"Hey, Summerfall" A thin smile on her features, she gave the mare a quick look. "...did you come here right from work? That's one of the new mk3 thermal suits, right?" She laughed shortly. "We are still using the old models..." Opal furrowed her brows lightly, turning to look at her dress "Now I feel completely inappropriately dressed."

She looked around. "What kind of place is this, anyway, Summers, darling?"

Summerfall was admiring Opal's dress until it was directly commented on, and she brought her attention back to the other mare.

"Yeah, I just finished for the day actually," she explained. "Nothing different up there, so just enjoying some peace and quiet. And this is the new mk3! Keeps me nice and warm, but you know..." she wiggled a few tiny frost crystals from her feathers, "they still haven't figured out how to keep our wings warm. Science can only go so far, eh?"

Without ceremony she shrugged out of the suit and tugged her mane free, ruffling it heartily until it settled into a pleasing teased look. Organized chaos. The pegasus liked it. After re-adjusting her goggles on her forehead and grabbing hold of the discarded workwear, Summer draped a hoof over Opal's back and began leading her inside.

"Just some new place that opened a little while back. It's not huge yet, but the music is great and they've kept the drinks cheap to attract customers." She giggled. "It worked on me anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much about what you're wearing instead of how much fun we're going to have!"

Without further ado she stepped inside and was immediately enveloping by a pulsing beat, the music surrounding and attempting to batter Summerfall's form with pure force of sound. It was out of luck, however. This is what she lived for. With strobing lights reflecting brightly off the shining surfaces of her goggles, the mare turned to her friend once more.

"Do you want to get a drink first, or food? Or did you want to get right to partying?!" she shouted, despite being mere feet from the other pony.

Before she really knew what was happening, Opal was led into the rather nondescript looking building, which turned out to be the club. A burly looking pegasus nodded them in unceremoniously, which seemed odd to the mare, who had never really been part of the clubbing scene. Now that they stood in the entrance, she could hear the muffled sound of unfamiliar music.

As they set hoof inside the club, many new impressions hit the white mare all at once. For starter, it was a lot hotter in here then she'd anticipated. Her wings shuffled nervously as they tried to get some ventilation. Bright, flashing lights bathed the room in different shades of colours, and the pegasus was happy that she was still wearing her sunglasses. And then there was the music... It certainly was loud, but it went beyond that. She didn't just hear the music, she felt it, like it was shaking her body lightly with each beat. It was an alien feeling, and she would need a bit to get used to it.

It seemed to be a good days for this club, seeing how the dance floor was full of pegasi enjoying themselves. Opal gulped heavily. She felt a little nauseated right now, but she was determined to not let this ruin this for her. This had to be fun, right? Ponies wouldn't go here if it wasn't fun. She glanced over to her company, and couldn't help but notice that the golden pegasus was completely in her element. Having her by her side was reassuring. Just in case.

Opal smiled. It was a little strained, even though she tried her best not to lead on to that. She cleared her throat and leaned closer: "Drinks sound lovely, Summer." She said loudly. "You lead the way.."
