New Official Friendship is Magic Comic Series

Recommended Posts

If anyone still needs to be sold on this comic, here's an hour long panel with the writer and artist.

Some of the interesting points (includes spoilers):

  • Confirmed to open with a four issue story arc with Chrysalis as the villain.
  • They've apparently created an entire "new land" in the story that is not in the show.
  • Comic will include a lot of fan favorite background ponies, with Octavia specifically confirmed to appear.
  • They're looking to introduce new characters (sounds like new villains) in the second story arc, though this hasn't quite been okayed by Hasbro.
  • There are explosions.
  • Also, not about the comic, but they've both apparently heard rumors that a Derpy episode of the show might be in the works.

Realy Nobody who knows the answer to my question about the Box set if ti includes the comic books ? Or is it jsut a box?

Your previous post confuses me a bit. Maybe try some more grammar next time. But according to the description I read on the site, it clearly says it comes with six different covers. Where are you ordering from?

Fantask.dk they will get it home specially for m. So I have to be precise when I put my order. But I am stil very confused. How can it contain all 6 boks already the 28th of November, I thougth only one of the books where ready.

It's 6 covers of issue #1. You're getting 6 covers, all with the same comic inside.

No-one's answered my question either! Which ordering option's the correct one?

What are you trying to order?

Issue #1

The six cover box set of issue #1

The subscription variant of #1

The special Derpy cover of #1

I'd like to know as well. It asks for quantity. Is that the number of issues (i.e. issue #1, issue #2, issue #3 etc.) or is it actually the number of EACH issue (i.e. quantity 3 gets me 3 copies of #1, #2, and #3)? Anyone know?

On the UK site I went for the subscription option so I could get future ones.

However: Upon checking the Midtown comics site, and factoring in exchange rates and delivery costs, it may not be that much more expensive to order from there and get a lovely Derpy cover....

Choices choices...

Place the number of issues you would like your subscription for (e.g. 1 issue = 1 month) in the quantity box and pick your delivery option below.

Which would lead me to believe that you get a different issue each month.

MY LITTLE PONY FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC COMIC BOOK SUBSCRIPTION

The name of the product indicates that you are purchasing a subscription, though for how long is for you to decide.

According to Andy Price...It looks like they underestimated how popular this was going to be. Lesson to be learned. Don't underestimate us! :smug:

(From http://andypriceart.deviantart.com/journal/Important-News-on-the-MLP-Comic-331014657)

"It looks to be pretty official, according to our editor, that the MLP comic has been pushed back two weeks to Nov 28 for street release date.

Before anybody gets upset (like one jerk on Twitter did), keep in mind the scope of this production: This is not a fanmade comic as some seem to think it is: This is a fully licensed comic book from a major Comic publisher done in cooperation with Hasbro. It is also one of the most highly anticipated comics for the entire fall/winter schedule. As such, we'd rather do it well than do it fast.

The orders for this book have far exceeded what was first anticipated, so a little more padding in the schedule is going to help to ensure the product can meet the demand

I also want to remind everyone: I am NOT The distributor/publisher... I just draw it. You cannot purchase the book directly from me. Here's some ground I've covered a number of times, but I keep getting asked... so here we go:

1. WHERE IS IT SOLD? This will be sold along all the other comics out there at any given comic shop, and whatever other stores in your area that might sell comics

2. HOW DO I GET IT? See above. You can subscribe to the book at a comic shop to make sure you have a copy reserved.

3. WILL IT BE OVERSEAS? I've no clue what kind of range IDW (our publisher) has for distribution. As far as I know, I think so. Where however is out of my field of knowledge. You can order online at any number of online comic services, and have it shipped

4. IS IT CANON? The comic is set within show continuity, and is done in cooperation with the show staff. This is as close to the show as it gets without having it animated. I personally say yes, but it is really up to the individual to decide.

5. WILL YOU READ MY IDEA/FANFICTION/USE MY PONY? No, sorry, we cannot for a number of reasons, including legal. Nor will we be using anything from previous fanfiction, nor the German comics.

6. WILL THERE BE HUMANS? No. We will not be changing the direction set by the show, nor will we introduce elements that do not fit the show.

on another note, I would like everyone to welcome our newest addition to the stable, our colorist Heather Breckel! [link]

I originally intended on coloring the book myself, but the work I put into the book took the time I had scheduled away. I was extremely reluctant to give it up... and who was this Heather chick, anyway? well, Heather has made sure that this book is going to hit a home run, and has done a great job.

We have a LOT of plans for Ponyville... you're just going to have to wait two more weeks to get there!"

Excellent! But now I need to know how many to preorder. Does anyone know how many issues there are going to be? Or will it just keep going?

It's an ongoing series, as opposed to an 'limited series'. So as long as the book keeps selling and IDW has the rights to FIM,they'll keep putting the books out.
