"Here we are my dear there is nothing more to fear" Zecora had gotten her little friend from FlutterShy today, the grey fox with bright blue eyes was curled up in a basket that was draped over Zecora's side. Zecora had gotten her just today due to getting her hut set up for her new friend, there was a basket in the corner that was covered with designs of triangles in grey and black, with bright blue gem's in the center, and it was filled with soft fluffy material that smelled like cinnamon and chamomile, the perfect bed for a injured little foxy to sleep.

Zecora got BrightEyes out of her pouch and gently tucked the injured fox into her nice warm bed, giving the fox a gentle head scritch with the tip of her hooves "There now rest so you can get back to your best" She cooed.

The fire under her cauldron was lit as she started to whip up a brew, a special recipe from her home land that would ease pain and get much needed vitamins into the small body that suffered a broken leg and a few other injuries.

"AppleBloom should be here soon" She said glancing at the clock before rubbing her chin "Oh dear I hope this soup she does not consume" before putting her hoof to her mouth and snickered imagining the filly's face taking a mouth full of that stuff...

Apple Bloom loved seeing Zecora. There was something so exotic and cool about her, even when you stripped her down to her base essentials and found that aside from her funny way of speaking and the way she looked that she was just like anypony else. Of course, once you took away Big Mac's shyness or Applejack's stubbornness they were just like anypony else. Better, but still like everypony else. Yes, she enjoyed seeing Zecora and going there on a free day when she had little else to do until much later on in the afternoon allowed her a sense of giddy excitement and joy that try as she might to use it at all times only seemed to be equaled when she found herself swallowed whole by the unstoppable force that was the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Yes, she was excited to see Zecora.

She trotted to Zecora's hut with all of the self-assured confidence imperative to any intrepid filly who routinely blazed the trails the big ponies were fearful to tread. She'd been over to the hut so many times that any feeling of hers that could once be described as trepidation had been replaced by a keen sense of nearly naive bravery that accompanied her as she made her way through the forest and finally into the hut itself. She and Zecora were on such close terms that the filly didn't even both with a customary knock, instead electing to open up the door and walk in with nary a care to show for it.

"Hay thar Zecora! Whatcha up ta-" She began before noticing a cute fox in a makeshift bed, lookin' real hurt. Apple Bloom was immediately distracted.

"Aww, look at this fella. Wha' happened? How can Ah 'elp?"

By now Zecora knew what Apple Bloom’s hoof steps sounded like and she smiled softly as the door swung open, that thickly country accented voice ringing out in greeting, before quickly getting sidetracked by the adorable little bundle that was curled up in the basket. A soft smile spread to Zecora’s face as she saw how eager the little filly was to assist her in caring for Bright Eyes; but then again AppleBloom seemed to have a soft side that covered 98% of her!

“Do not be Shy, there is no need to cry” She said softly to the fox who’s ears had pinned back due to slight fear at the loud sounds of the new pony entering the hut . “Yes you may dear AppleBloom , I will be feeding her very soon, And if you do not mind you could maybe show her that you are kind? I fear she is very afraid it’s true, but she will soon love you” She assured AppleBloom ruffling her mane gently.

“Just beware, do not pull on her hair, scratch behind her ears to make her swoon, I must go get her dinner soon” She glanced over at the stew again and chuckled “Though I must warn you, that the stew you should not drink, It is for foxes and it might stink” It DID have little bits of soft meat in it, that Zecora had bought from a passing gryphon… tiny minced pieces just until the poor thing could go out and hunt for herself.

BrightEyes stared up at AppleBloom, trying to look strong and brave despite being so injured, ears pinned back letting out a slight “Grrr” Though glanced at Zecora as if asking if the visitor was alright…A simple nod from the Zebra and BrightEyes leaned foreward to sniff at AppleBloom.

Zecora had a way with wild animals that was second to one, Fluttershy being second to none herself. It was always interesting to come by and see what resided in her hut in the woods, seeing as there were so many types of creatures that wandered these woods that she had to buckle down and assume the best, or worst, with every visit. And today was no exception, the injured yet still adorable fox the sort of creature uncommon to Ponyville yet not at all unfamiliar. She'd seen a few come into the orchard to try and take down the chickens and the Apples had to shoo them off. They didn't think too poorly of the foxes since they were just being what they were, but it was still something that she had in the back of her head. The possibility that maybe the poor dear had gotten hurt after raiding Sweet Apple Acres played tiddly winks with the back of her brain.

But whatever distress this thought caused did not pierce the veil of her more bubbly emotions and thoughts. He sure was a cutie and Apple Bloom wanted to see to it that he got better, even if she couldn't pet him behind the ears or other ideas that swam to the surface. This was Zecora's hut and by golly she wasn't going to rock it. It growled a little bit in its best imitation of a scarier and more intimidating fox, though it failed utterly- Apple Bloom had seen dangerous foxes and this one was as unlikely to hurt her as Big Mac was to a baby bug in Juuuuu-lie! It leaned in soon after and sniffed Apple Bloom, who grew in that moment a bit self-conscious at the thought. She wasn't the cleanest pony under Celestia's sun and had been active that day, but she figured that compared to its usual smells she may have been good for the fox. Good enough, anyway. Apple Bloom let it sniff her for a few seconds before very slowly raising her hoof under its chin, where she started to stroke it.

"Ahh, ain't he just the cutest lil' ol' fox ya ever did see?" Apple Bloom said with a heart-felt smile, leaning in and giving the fox a quick peck on the nose before leaning back.

"Mah name's Apple Bloom! What's yer name, lil' fox?"

Zecora chuckled watching the little fox ADORE the attention that AppleBloom lavished upon it! “His name is Bright Eyes” She said one of the first instances of non-rhyming in her life time “If it were not for Fluttershy, this little one I would have passed by, she saved him from a TimberWolf but now he’s safe under my roof” She added nodding “I do hope you will stay here with us, I am sure if you leave he’d put up quite a fuss!” Since BrightEyes by now was rubbing against AppleBlooms hoof like a pussy-cat! Letting out a happy yip as he did so.

BrightEyes liked the smell of the Earth Pony and had taken to her like a pig to mud! Her scratching hoof made his chin arch and his eyes close and his fluffy gray tail to wag in sheer bliss from the spoiling she was giving him.

“Bright Eyes come here, Your dinner is near” Zecora cooed putting the bowl of slightly steaming soft but protein rich stew down for the little fox. Bright Eyes was hesitant to leave the affectionate scratching hoof but reluctantly did so and moved to start hungrily eating the hot food prepared for him as if it had been a long time since he had eaten last.

Apple Bloom used to wonder if she could somehow have a cutie mark relating to animals. After all, animals seemed to love her. Then she remembered that almost as many of her encounters ended with her almost suffering at the end of their talons, teeth, stingers, or assorted magical abilities and decided that if that was to be her special talent, she'd be a mightily untalented filly. Still, it was always nice to have an animal that responded so well, so fast and all she could do was giggle as she saw it's little tail wagging back and forth all adorable like. Plus, there was a small part of her that wanted to tell Applejack later that she helped nurse a fox back up to full health. Nothing was funnier than seeing her sister getting all riled up for no reason at all! Bright Eyes' attention was stolen from Apple Bloom by food, which Abby couldn't blame him for eating. It looked like it would be right delicious and up his alley, though a quick gander at it made the filly want to hurl.

The fact there were some creatures that ate meat had once shocked her so badly she had cried. Did Big Mac feel bad for telling her that there are animals out there that eat other animals? It was a required fact of farm life that you had to protect your chickens and pigs from animals like foxes since they would like to take lots of bites out of them, but she had been so young and the truth so stunning that she still felt a certain degree of dislike for any creature, no matter the cause, that ate meat. It also struck her mute due to discomfort knowing that there were things that she wouldn't know until she was told by somepony. She preferred the ignorance of bliss or, as Caramel Apple said sarcastically while licking a salt cube at the last reunion, 'living at Sweet Apple Acres'. Big Mac'd gotten mad and Caramel had responded with a long string of numbers. He responded with a single buck of the leg. Point, Sweet Apple Acres.

Still, she couldn't watch him eat the soup in good conscience. She stood up and trotted next to Zecora, eyes scanning for anything to talk about. Failing that, she fell back on curiosity.

"What happened ta him? How'd he got hurt?" Apple Bloom asked, this time with some authority behind it. She had asked once before and been ignored: By Celestia's Tubesocks, she wouldn't be ignored again.
