[Nightmare Night] Day 2 - Celestia's House of Mirrors

The princess of the sun has returned with her traditional contribution to the Nightmare Night festivities, the house of mirrors! Organized in a winding maze, you can never quite tell when you're going to run into an image of yourself, or even another pony! Of course, getting through the maze of mirrors isn't impossible, though you may run into a few ponies—literally—before making it out.

(-1 Candy)

Having been frightened by a sea serpent and then judged by Iron Will, Light had to forfeit one candy when going to the Moon Palace.

"I thought I was braver that that," the colt said with a sigh as he thought about the new place he would visit. It was then he spotted the House of Mirrors. Stepping inside and weaving his way through the maze he found himself in a room surrounded by a myriad of reflections.

"Hey, maybe I can try something," he said as his horn glowed. A ball of light then appeared, changing colour with a rainbow spectrum of light. It reflected off the mirrors, giving the room a party feel. Light stood there and bathed in the whimsical scene.

After her experience at Nightmare Moon's Monument, Scout decided on a safer location next. Although seeing as it was Nightmare Night, nowhere was really safe from scaring. Still, the house of mirrors was supposed to be one of the more fun attractions, focusing on the silly rather than the scary.

But, being as she was dressed in black, and there were plenty of shadows, she wasn't the best navigator. More than once she heard an “ow!” or “oof!” come from somepony that she had run into or whose hoof she had stepped on. Scout didn't really reply, she just kept moving along, frequently running into her own reflection.

She was getting rather frustrated with the whole thing, when all or a sudden, she saw lights up ahead. Or right in front of her... Or behind her? Argh, there were mirrors everywhere, it was impossible to tell! Scout pushed on, trying to lean against one of the walls and follow it out. But every time she got to a turn, her nose would smoosh against that mirror. It shouldn't have been a surprise that she found herself snout to snout with a colt about her age.

“Ah!” she said, jumping back. Her jump was cut short by a mirror behind her, and she slid down to the floor and sat down. She gave a heavy sigh, looking at the colt before her. She assumed he was in front of her, anyway. “Do you know the way out of this place?” she said, a bit irritated. Although looking around, the lights did give the place a very club-esque feel. Not that Scout would really know, she was too young to go to a club.

Telki had been peeved all day, not only did she NOT get to prank anyone, that pony that had been chatting with her not only NOT been scared, but he had actually wandered off! Seemingly obsessed with his monologue and not noticing that she wasn't following him. Well at least there was candy...

Well not tonight. Tonight she'll get her pranking done!

What place could be better than Celestia's House of Mirrors? She could hopefully hide somewhere, then pop out and project her visage, eerie eye glow included and create a room full of scary mysterious creatures.

That was until she noticed that the place not only seemed really colourful, but it had a party feel to it. A Manehattan club feel

Moving quickly towards the epicentre, she noticed 2 ponies, one seemed to be the source of the lights and the other was just sitting on her rump in front of the other.

Sensing a chance, Telki threw her hood on, focused to make her eyes glow and then stepped out of the shadows.

"WHO DARES!" she said, trying to sound as low pitched as possible. "Who is making this place so bright and cheery and un-scary. How is is a creature of the night supposed to catch ponies to devour if it cannot even sneak up on them!" she said. trying to sound serious and not giggle at the same time.

Guiding Light was so enthralled at the dazzling light show he created that he did not see the pony enter the room. It was only when she bumped into him with her snout that he knew there was another there.

"Um... hi there," he said trying to get over the awkward situation he was in with her. It was almost as if the two were going to kiss they were so close.

"I guess you saw my light show. I'm Guiding Light. What's your name?"

Before he could get an answer, a hooded creature with glowing eyes appeared asking who was making the lights. Light gulped as he slunk back. He didn't want to place the blame on the other pony but he didn't want to be eaten himself.

The yellow colt introduced himself as “Guiding Light.” With the current light show, she should have known. So, the current light show probably wasn't supposed to be part of the mirror maze. And this foal seemed to be having too much fun to want to leave, and he probably didn't know the way out. Still, she could afford to take a break from this headache of a maze, and chat for a few minutes.

”GAH!” Scout turned to run at the sudden appearance of the glowing eyed menace, which worked out well for about two steps, until *wham*, her snout collided with a mirror, for the dozenth time that night. “Ow!” She whispered to herself, rubbing her nose. Well, if she couldn't run away, she'd have to fight... whatever it was. She whirled around, throwing her front hooves in the air and placing her back against the mirror she had just run into. At least it would serve some purpose.

"Success!" She thought as one of the ponies had shirked away in double quick time and the other had seemingly ran away, collided with a mirror and was now feebly trying to ward her off.

By now it would probably be appropriate to call off the joke, throw off her hood and giggle. But it was Nightmare Night and somehow Telki thought, pressing it just a bit more can't hurt.

She walked up slowly, casually, to the pony who had her back to the mirror.

"Now that your light generating friend has left you, prepare to be devoured!" she said theatrically

The brightly colored mare didn't look like Nightmare Moon. Sure, her eyes were glowing, she had a long black cape, but that didn't change the fact that she was orange and... well, rather short for such an imposing mare. Besides, the legendary mare in the moon wouldn't have bothered following her, right?

Well, here went nothing... Scout put up her hooves, swaying back and fourth so she could try to dodge if the other pony struck first. She came closer, closer, opening her jaws widely... And Scout swung, contacting with the mare's face. “B-Back off!” she stammered, doing her best not to look utterly frightened at the thought of the possible consequences of the stunt she'd just pulled.

Princess Celestia

The mighty daytime ruler of Equestria has made a special trip to Ponyville to partake in the Nightmare Night festivities. Her smile is almost as bright as the sun, and just as welcoming. The ruler of Equestria is well known for her fairness, and equal treatment regarding all of her loyal subjects. She doesn't reward her subjects as well as her sister on this night, out of respect, but finding her will net you a piece of candy nonetheless.

still in character, Telki slowly approached the young fllly. Ok maybe the teeth baring part was overkill, but still it would be really awesome if she could get her teeth to glow too. Oh well maybe next year...

Still, maybe she was going too far....

It took an accidental hit from one of the filly's failing hooves to knock Telki back to her senses and back to reality.

"Oww.....ok maybe it's gone too far now" she thought. "Don't worry I'm just kidding around" Telki threw back her hood and reverted back to her normal tone of voice.

Princess Celestia

"Hi! Princess" she called out cheerily. "Thanks for the candy!' as the Princess faded back to the darkness of the house

Guiding Light saw the pony suddenly charge off into the distanceas the glowing eyed creature followed. But the biggest surprise came when he met none other than Princess Celestia! With a bow of respect, he received his candy before trotting away to find the exit to the fun maze!

(+1 Candy, back to original amount.)

Scout mumbled to herself, rubbing the hoof that had touched the other pony on her sweatshirt. She sure as heck didn't apologize though. “I guess it is Nightmare Night, after all.” she rolled her eyes. She was only here for the candy, and there certainly wasn't any candy to be found in here.

That was until the very ruler of Equestria showed up. Scout was a little worried that she was coming because of what she had done at Nightmare Moon's Monument, and tried to shirk away from the brilliant white Alicorn. However, things turned out better than she expected, as she was blessed with a piece of candy from the sun princess. Scout smiled shyly at her, still a bit afraid of such a powerful being. Her slate wasn't the cleanest, and she thought that perhaps the princess was aware of her misdeed. If she was, she chose to overlook them tonight, instead rewarding her for braving the maze. She was even kind enough to light the way out for a few moments before disappearing in a flash of magic.
