[Nightmare Night] Day 4 - The Changeling Lair

MyLittlePonyTales

Webs and statues adorn the dimly lit cave near Ponyville, creating one of the scariest areas in Nightmare Night history. Ponies in Changeling costumes hide in shadowy crevices, ready to pounce on anypony that passes by. After all, what would Nightmare Night be without a few heart pounding scares? Even with the recent threat to Equestria, everypony has been assured that there will be no real Changelings. But the decorations look so lifelike...

Having met her friend Princess Luna at the Nightmare Moon Monument, Fire Heart was riding a wave of happiness as she decided on the next place to visit for Nightmare Night. The las two were haunted houses so she knew she was in for a fright. She hoped that she would not freak out like she udsually did when scared, otherwise the houses might become charred from her ability.

She stepped into the cave where the Changeling's Lair attraction was cautiously. Being in Canterlot during the real Changeling invasion, she was still nervous about that time. But this was an attraction. Surely real Changelings weren't running it, right?

She fought her way through the spiderwebs and into a room of statues with the faces contorted in a grotesque appearance. Some appeared to be screaming, others solemn.

Costume: Wearing his Shadowbolts uniform

He had the good fortune to avoid the Changeling invasion of Canterlot, in addition, having lived in the Everfree Forest for a bit, Lightwind was perhaps best suited to be unfazed by a place such as this.

Having met Iron Will not once but twice; Lightwind felt that perhaps he could survive what the Changling lair had to offer; after all, whats the worst that could happen...really?

Strolling in, he came across a room full of statues pulling what seemed to him like funny faces. Stopping so often to gaze over the odd statue, he slowly began to realize that he wasn't alone.

Like him, coming in from the opposite direction, came a red unicorn filly, and she appeared apprehensive as she made her way through the lair.

Perhaps it was just Lightwind being Lightwind, or that the filly seemed nervy, but Lightwind had no desire to interact with or make his presence known to her (he probably would have to put on some Shadowbolt bravado)

Finding a spot between 2 statues, he quickly put on a mean, intimidating, badflank pose (how would Nightshade do it, he wondered) and stayed as still as he could, hoping that the filly would pass by quickly

Maybe a trip to the Changeling Lair would be a new experience for Harrington as he continued his Nightmare Night travels around the top attractions. The effects and Changelings, though he was promised they were not real, seemed so real and lifelike. It brought back terrifying memories of the first night when Chrysalis dropped in on the House of Mirrors and spooked everypony out of the attraction. He didn't notice Discord on his way to the Everfree Moon Palace or the switch that landed him a loaded sack, but he was more certain he would encounter someone better on this night.

He walked inside on shaky legs as he panned back and forth, watching the ponies in Changeling costumes as he traversed.

(Short post, I know, long night watching the election and stuff)

Fire Heart came face to face with of all things a minotaur who announced his arrival with great fanfare. This one must have been a public speaker or athlete of some kind. Thankfully he rewarded Fire and the other ponies with a candy! Placing it in her bag, she made her way out of the lair and to freedom.
