[Nightmare Night] Day 5 - Nightmare Moon's Monument

MyLittlePonyTales

Recommended Posts

The statute standing just at the edge of the Everfree Forest is a traditional stop for all Nightmare Night goers. The foals of the town frequently leave candy offerings, and there is already a significant pile gathered. There is a rumor that, should anypony dare to take a piece from the foot of the statue, it will come to life, and consume the offending pony. More often than not, however, one of the locals will just jump out and scare whoever was trying to sneak a piece. But every since Princess Luna's return, someponies could swear there were more mysterious workings surrounding the monument.

Engraved in the front of the statue:

You dare to seek out Nightmare Moon? Then prepare to meet your doom!

For foals she finds a special treat- unless you leave her something sweet!

Candy +3, Vampire Outfit

Leaving the Tartarus Haunted House a bit worried about something else jumping out at him, Greenshot was happy to see Princess Luna for the second time that night and adding to his candy count. There was just one more place left to visit to make this Nightmare Night a success and that was to pay his respects to Nightmare Moon's Monument. Going down a different path in the Everfree Forest that lead directly to the monument, Greenshot was ready to give an offering for giving him a wonderful, thrill filling night.

Trotting down the path, Greenshot's horn glowed a bit and waving his cloak that had pieces of webbing and leaves sticking to it as well as removing his fang fangs which began feeling uncomfortable in his mouth. Wanting to look orderly and well-kept up with in front of Nightmare Moon's Monument, not wanting to upset her. Approaching the monument, Greentshot lifted a piece of candy out from a pocket in his cloak and lifted it into the pile of candy in front of him and ducked his head where his mane fell from the sides, bowing to the monument as his candy fell into the pile and stepped away for the other's to pay there own to Nightmare Moon.

Guiding Light had left the Gates of Tartus Haunted House and was now en route to his final destination. The colt had saved, in his mind, the best for last: the Nightmare Moon Monument. Growing up in Ponyville, the unicorn knew the legend: give a candy to Nightmare Moon or be eaten by her. Light thought it was a pony's tale, but he wasn't ready to take any chances.

And so, he walked up to the fearsome statue and droppd a candy near the base.

0 candy, Cricketer Costume

It was with the wearied gait of the long-traveling pilgrim that Wordsworth Psmith approached Nightmare Moon's Monument. He felt no particular need to deposit any candy before the statue; he'd met the Queen of Terror herself, and graciously deposited one of his own chocolate bars at her hooves already. It was, therefore, as an art critic that he studied the statue.

"It really is a good likeness." He remarked to whoever was standing beside him. The colt was too tired to bother checking. "I wonder how it ever came to be known that she had a sweetooth. I'd really like to hear the story of the first lucky foal who found that candy made a suitable payment. There should be a statue of that foal, put up by a grateful population for great services rendered. Ah, but that is life." He sighed, patting the inner pocket where his candybag used to be. "One seems to remember the villains so clearly. It is little wonder that Princess Luna has had some trouble living down her reputation. Of course, it may have been worse if there had been no Nightmare Night. How would it be to have to introduce yourself as Princess Celestia's sister, when no one had any memory of you? On the whole, I should not like to have tried it."

(now back to 1 candy... *le sigh*... )

Snails, dressed up in his spider costume trots out of the beginning of the Moonlit path to the Everfree, trotting up to the towering, life-sized statue of the Nightmare

He ran up to the base of the statue, and momentarily stare at the mound of candy already left there and droooled.

He shook himself and looked guiltily up at the statue, then pulled a bag from inside his costume and emptied it.

Apparently, those were licorice drops and peanut butter taffys from last year that he absolutely detested.

So it's a little old, but candy is candy, right? Not likehe was gonna give up his last piece a' candy from Luna herself..;.

"Oh Nightmare! Accept mah offrin sos' ah dont' get gobbled up!"

(+2 candy, spaghetti Westerner)

This sort of Nightmare Night ritual wasn't anything like Harrington had known back in Baltimare. They had parties and odd things to do around that time, but he didn't ever remember any sort of visit to a statue of Nightmare Moon. Probably since his parents never bothered much with the holiday until later on in his foalhood and his little sister's. He approached the statue, observing the terrifying image of the former terror upon Equestria. He noticed a plaque at the bottom and read its inscription:

You dare to seek out Nightmare Moon? Then prepare to meet your doom!

For foals she finds a special treat- unless you leave her something sweet!

Though he was a bit older, he decided to play along just to have a little fun and experience something he never did as a colt. He dropped a piece of candy down in front of the statue and stepped back from it.

The mighty daytime ruler of Equestria has made a special trip to Ponyville to partake in the Nightmare Night festivities. Her smile is almost as bright as the sun, and just as welcoming. The ruler of Equestria is well known for her fairness, and equal treatment regarding all of her loyal subjects. She doesn't reward her subjects as well as her sister on this night, out of respect, but finding her will net you a piece of candy nonetheless.
