[[OOC: Ponies named Applejack have the worst luck with suspension bridges....]]

Motion Paradox carefully set her hoof on the suspension bridge, this was not going to be fun. At least the Pony who fell through the bridge seemed to be getting help so there wasn't the pressure of hurrying to help rescue her, but she was still dreading her own trip across the bridge. However, just a few steps into the bridge she felt a pair of hooves wrap around her waist and lift her up, she looked up too see that one of the Pegasi volunteers had picked her up and was carrying her to the over side. She wasn't sure why they weren't following the plans announced earlier, but if it meant that she wouldn't have cross what she now called "the dreaded bridge of evil" she had no intention of objecting. Still, there was something strange about this race....

"And why does this race run through here in the first place? The point of 'The Running of the Leaves' is to clear the leaves off of the trees in preparation for winter, if the state of that 'bridge' is any indication, nopony ever comes out here, so why do we need to clear the trees?" The pink Unicorn Mare added before turning to see the source of the objections her's had been added to and saw that it was another Unicorn Mare with a pink coat and star cutie mark "Hmm, I think we've just had one of 'those moments', what were chances of this happening?" she mused to herself as her volunteer neared the other side of the ravine.

"Thank You" She said to the Pegasus as they set her on the other side of the bridge continued on to the next leg of the race; turning back for a moment as the final competitor landed, she noticed that he and a bright blue and purple Pegasus Mare seemed to be sharing a "special moment". "Nee-Hee-Hee" she twittered as she observed them before continuing on to the next part of the course.

Whinnying in relief, Hoss reared and pranced a moment on the trail as Gilda Griffon rescued AppleJack.

He wondered if his words about ClockWise had that effect on her.

Hoss sketched a quick bow to the others "And now that Miss Applejack is safe and GIlda is going to be on our tails at any moment, I say we run!"

The bay pegasus, who would be quite proud to know he was being described as mahogany by Risi if he only knew, wheeled around and broke into a sprint to try and get a lead before Gilda comes charging through.

He thought 'Gotta win... The race statue is not going to be of a Gilda Griffon if I have anything to say about it...'

As Applejack was pulled back onto the bridge, to the surprise of Applejack, Gilda scurried ahead before she had any time to give her any thanks. What an awkward position that would turn, and in such a short time of events. Applejack could see everypony running ahead of her, to which, she figured she best get to it. "Ah can't let that brash bird win," she said to herself as she cleared the rickety bridge. Entering the next phase of the forest, however, Applejack slapped her hooves on several trees in assurance that the leaves were off. It was important to win, but Applejack wasn't about to run the race twice in one day like she did two years ago because some lazy out-of-towner decided she was too cool for it. The lead group of ponies rushed through the next section. This race was close! And not to far behind was that cute country orange blur.

((the following spoiler tag is an alternate ending to section 5 for AJ.))

Applejack struggled to keep her balance in check, hanging from the bottom of a bridge, the sweat on her face falling in reverse. And worst of all, Gilda, her last resort, had run off. Supposed Applejack deserved such a fate, maybe she would learn her lesson. Learn her lesson after a long fall into a ravine. After the trampling on the bridge subsided, and it grew more and more quiet, it became apparent to Applejack that she was officially losing the race. And as she came to her senses, she had also understood her fight to keep the trees taken care of had also been shortly abandoned.

Before Applejack had long to think about how poorly she had acted, her tail slipped a little, and then slipped a lot, freeing her from her entanglement from the splintered wood on the bridge, but also hurling her into a sudden free-fall. Applejack couldn't have guessed it would have ended like this. And she certainly was disappointed in the outcome. How in the world would she explain to the pony gods exactly how she came about this treacherous plummet. But there she was, her ears whistling as her body picked up speed. And at terminal velocity, her hat flew off from her head, her heart fell with her body. The two things that made this pony whole, were not separated by the motionless wind.

And then she was caught by safety pegasi, of course. They carried her back to the top of the ravine, and even returned to her the stetson hat that had gotten away. Applejack eyed the race forward. She had a lot of ground to make up.
