History:

Magnum was born to an average family. Middle class home, went to school, did homework. Though back then they had to write papers on everything and anything, and got hit with rulers! And they LIKED it! But he was active in after-school activities. Mostly sports! Hoofball in the fall, Hockey in the winter, Soccer in the spring! Parents were supportive, if not enthusiastic. And of course he never missed a chance to tell Rarity 'I was All-Star in High School, ya know!'. In fact, he got his cutie mark in Hoofball! He played wide-receiver and safety, and not allowed to use magic. That would be cheating! Just like pegasi weren't allowed to use their wings.

When he was a foal, he played in the little league Superbowl! Ponyville Elementary vs Manehattan! In that game alone he made two interceptions, one coming back for a touchdown! Scored a touchdown on offense as well! In the final quarter of the game, with one play to go, Ponyville was at their own 43 yard line, 4th and 3. The game was tied, but it sure wasn't going into overtime. The team decided to make a hail-Celestia pass in deep, Magnum receiving the pass! With the safety hot on his tail, he ran as fast as he could! He passed the 30, the 20, the 10! The Manehattan safety lunged for him, grabbing onto Magnum for the tackle! Time almost slowed down as Magnum fell, reaching out with his hooves. When he finally hit the ground, the tip of the ball had dug in just past the goal line! Ponyville won! In all the excitement, Magnum had almost failed to notice his cutie mark appear! Three hoofballs, signifying the three touchdowns he had scored that day, but also outlining his passion for sports!

He continued to play through High School, where he coincidentally met his wife, Glory. During the Sadie Hawkins dance, young Glory had asked him to be her date. Being captivated, he gladly accepted! How could he say no? They had been sweethearts ever since, and eventually wed! He still wonders what a beauty like her is doing with a goofball like him, but they love eachother like no other... And Magnum still thinks she's the hottest thing alive. Not long after they married, they decided to stay in Ponyville, where they had their first foal, Rarity, followed by Sweetie Belle.

He was a bit disappointed that he wasn't going to have a foal to have 'guy-time' with, but that didn't mean he didn't love his daughters to death. Even so, throughout their foalhoods Magnum still tried to show them the joys of camping, fishing, and sports! For some reason they didn't like sleeping outdoors... Or handling fish... He realised that the girls would be more in their mother's department, but darn it if he didn't try.It did have unintended consequences though. For instance, both of their foals knew the best way to butter up dad was ask about 'the game' and get him talking.

He is unimaginably both proud of their fillies. Especially Rarity, but that doesn't mean Sweetie Belle won't have her time to shine! In fact, they made the decision to stay in Ponyville when Rarity opened her shop, just so they could keep the family together. Of course Rarity was thrilled at the news. At least that's what Magnum will tell you. Having missed his chance at Pro Hoofball due to his bum knee, Magnum became a commentator, going to high school games and such, selling mustaches. Oh, didn't mention that? To make an extra buck and 'up the ante' at sporting events, he sells novelty mustaches! The little ones seem to love it, and it definitely bolsters numbers at the games. Come watch hoofball, get a mustache for a couple bits! Even better, he tries to send business Rarity's way by telling everypony 'My daughter runs the boutique, dontcha know!'. Proud father at its finest.

If anypony comes to her boutique wearing a false mustache, she knows exactly who to blame.

Character Summary:

Magnum loves his daughters. Rarity might argue a bit too much. He and Glory take every opportunity they can to visit and spend time with her. Of course they don't ignore Sweetie Belle by any means! They try to encourage her to get her cutie mark, and whole-heartedly approve of the 'Crusaders'. So adorable. Magnum has an appetite as big as his love for sports, both being second to Glory of course. 'That filly's just as pretty as the day I married 'er!'.

Whenever he's not at home seeing to his wife or at a game, going commentating work and making all the lips fabulously fuzzy, he likes to terrorize visit his daughter Rarity. Just to check up on things and say hello! Of course she often insists she's QUITE busy. Well, shucks, if she can't make time for family then it's up to the family to make time for her! They visit frequently, much to her facetious joy.

Otherwise? Well he likes reading the paper! He just doesn't understand how any of the young ones can think the paper isn't interesting! When outdoors, he likes to fish! Even shows Rarity pictures, much to her displeasure.
