Name: Chase ***

Sex: Male

Age: Stallion, old enough to have colts and fillies of his own

Mane/Tail Color & Style: short, and relatively straight, in stripes of gunmetal and other various shades of grey. He has a streak the color of oxidized copper.

Likes: working with his hooves, a well-layed out poster, clever wordplay.

Dislikes: improper kerning, comic sans, "the man", "post no bills" notices, bride-ponyzillas who won't let him do his job and insist on using horrible fonts.

Character Summary:

Chase was born to rather technologically minded parents who were a lithographer and a photographer. He has a much younger sister, Asterism, who he was never exactly close to due to an age difference. They had hopes of him becoming a woodcarver, or an etching artist, so they bought him a simple toy press advertised in a comic book mail-away ad when he was just a foal on the edge of being a colt (he does love comics). Since he was, at that time, learning to read fairly well, he was naturally drawn to typography. That year he made his first work, a series of valentines, with cobbled together letters and horrible kerning, but it was a start, and earned him his cutie mark! One of the first in his class too!

In public life, though, he pretends to be a dour stallion operating what is essentially Equestria's equivalent of Kinko's. Wedding and party invitations, birth announcements, dull books of public record, fake as well as real wanted posters for some Appleoosan customers. However he's a fun-loving stallion who likes the sense of adventure of dodging the authorities in other towns to put up his work. He especially likes to put things like cards and little funny booklets and comics low where foals can find them. He signs these items "Printy McPrinterson", if that is any indication of the seriousness of his subject manner. However, in technique and precision of his craft, he is nothing but serious, and his attention to detail is incredible.

A bunch of his friends know about his after-hours activities, but everypony keeps it a secret. Especially since he often makes great birthday and holiday cards for all of them. But most of all they keep it a secret because Chase is somewhat of a practical joker, and follows the axiom "don't get mad, get even", often to hilarious results (unless you happen to be the target). Despite a fairly large circle of friends and acquaintances, he doesn't get out as much as he should to socialize due to his work, but he does spend a lot of after-hours time at a local bar, usually furiously scribbling ideas on napkins.

His primary unicorn magic is the ability to manipulate things telekinetically, which aids him in his job. He can lift things as heavy as Twilight Sparkle has displayed with the Ursa Minor (for our comparison, he does not know her), but not for nearly the same amount of time. To move the same Ursa Minor + bottle, Chase would have had to use 5-7 short bursts of magic, with rest in between. He is very precise and can handle many small items at once with great accuracy. He is the dart champion of his neighborhood dive bar for this reason.

At the moment, he has no concrete plans for the future and is content to just kind of ride out life at the steady pace that he is, but in the back of his mind he would like to find other ponies who are interested in the printed form and collaborate.

*** Chase is the name for the apparatus you lock all the type in in a letterpress, as well as referring to his ability to dodge authorities.

This is inspired by my "Mr. Scotchie as a pony" drawing, but isn't really like the real Mr. Scotchie at all beyond the interest in printing. Equestria needs a printer!

There's a lot of places in the RP outside of Ponyville and Canterlot that need RPers, so my suggestion would be to help increase the size of those areas instead of creating a new area that will need RPers as well.

I was planning on setting him in neither Canterlot nor Ponyville. He was just going to put up crap in Canterlot.

Manehattan, possibly, or Stalliongrad if it gets approved.

And his residence doesn't mean I HAVE to RP him there.
