RP Type: World of Equestria

Name: Watermelon Gush

Sex: Female

Age: Filly

Species: Earth Pony

Eye colour: Light Green (Like the rind of a watermelon)

Coat: Green (like the skin of a watermelon) She has three black freckles on each cheek that look like watermelon seeds.

Mane and Tail: Light Red (Like the inside of a watermelon) Her mane is divided into two braids that reach her shoulders. Her Tail is also done in a braid. Occasionally she will have errant black seeds mixed in her mane and tail, although she doesn’t seem to mind this fact and actually likes the look.

Physique: Watermelon Gush has a typical filly’s body albeit a little on the athletic side. She can easily carry a medium sized watermelon on her back, but the larger ones she’s forced to roll on the ground with her hooves.

Residence: Garden Gait in Solstice Heights with her family on Bountiful Farms

Occupation: She too young to have an actual job, although she goes to school and help out her parents on the farm.

Cutie Mark: A slice of Watermelon representing her ability to harvest the sweet fruit. Watermelon Gush got her mark when she decided one day that she wanted to try her hoof at farming all by herself. Her parents, excited at their daughter’s passion especially with their livelihood, agreed and set aside a piece of their plot of land for her to grow. Watermelon chose her favorite fruit the watermelon, which just so happened to be her name, to plant. She dug the long trenches, planted the seeds, and watered constantly the area. It was hard work for anypony, especially for a little filly, but Watermelon Gush was happy to sacrifice the time, energy, and even the sore muscles for what she hoped one day would be a sea of watermelons bobbing on an ocean of soil.

Days turned into weeks and the ground remained barren. She began to worry that her dream of growing something like her parents would never happen and that she would not grow up to be a farmer. But suddenly she saw one day a green vine appearing from the soil. From the vine a watermelon grew bigger and bigger until finally it was as big as Watermelon Gush! As luck should have it, there was a fair in town where ponies could have their best produce judged. Watermelon Gush proudly brought her prized watermelon to the fair to be judged and all who were there stared in amazement at the sheer size and quality of the fruit. The judges, who were marveled at the filly’s ability, gave her the blue ribbon for Best Produce. But the best reward she got that day was her cutie mark which appeared in a flash as she received the award!

History: Watermelon Gush got her name because of her uncanny colouring to a watermelon and because her parents saw her as the sweetest pony ever. As for Gush, the story goes that her parents just gushed over her when she was born. Watermelon’s mum, Sweet Honeydew, and her dad, Fruit Salad, both worked as farmers at their home and farm called Bountiful Farms. Their farm specialized in growing fruits other than apples, selling them or making them into fruit salads, drinks, or other food.

Watermelon’s life as a foal was one of joy and love thanks to her parents who although were busy in the farm always had time to be with her. When she was old enough, she began to work with them by helping to water and care for the crops when not going to school. Harvest time was her favorite time as she got to see the literal fruits of her family’s labor. Not surprisingly, her favorite fruit was the watermelon which upon a pony asking why she liked it she would proudly say that, “It’s sweet, like me,” and give a cute squeak sound with her smile.

As she grew older, her parents marveled at how she was quite a naturally pretty filly. They would often say that one day when she became a mare she would be “turning heads” and “breaking hearts.” Watermelon didn’t really know what that meant and especially didn’t want to break a poor pony’s heart. But the affection and attention her parents gave her made her feel good, like she was a princess. Upon looking at Canterlot on the hillside from her window, she often wondered what it would be like to be a princess, to have ponies from all around want to meet her. Her parents always told her that she was their princess and dubbed her “Princess of Watermelons” to which she sometimes likes to say as her title.

After receiving her cutie mark, life has surprisingly not changed much for the red manned filly. She still works at her farm with her parents, goes to school, and has fun with friends her age. Yet one thing getting her mark did was reassure her that farming was her destiny and that life would be sweet doing what she loved.

Character Summary: One could sum up Watermelon Gush’s personality into one word: Sweet. She is a very kind pony who loves to meet new ponies and help wherever she can. She seems to have an endless supply of energy, making her always on the go and doing things. Being forced to stand still or sit, therefore, is difficult for her and sometimes gets her into trouble at school. Her energy level also at times borders on hyperactivity as she zips from one thing to the next.

Watermelon does have the tendency to be seen as a bit scatterbrained and even clumsy due to her energy as she rushed headlong into things. In reality she is a very intelligent pony and a great problem solver. She is especially good at thinking on the fly, learning and doing at the same time. Watermelon Gush is a very hooves on filly, interested in learning by doing and exploring things.

One of her blessings is that Watermelon is a naturally cute pony. This acknowledgement of her beauty coupled with her sweet demeanor allows her to easily get out of jams and even at times have ponies do things for her. One time she was able to get a free milkshake with a wink and a smile. She is not a very girly pony and can be a bit of a tomboy. Some colts in her school have taken notice of her but she just thinks it’s due to her cuteness and nothing more, not yet understanding romance. Watermelon speaks with a high pitched squeaky voice, having not had her voice changed to something more mare like. It suits her just fine as again others find it cute, and as long as ponies see her as such she’s a happy filly.

Besides farming, Watermelon Gush likes to have fun with her friends, learn about nature, explore, visit Canterlot, play sports and games, and enjoy all that the wide world has to offer. She doesn’t like mean ponies, days when she’s sick and can’t play with her friends and having to sit or stand still and wait for something. She also thinks a pony is strange if they tell her that they don’t like watermelons and will proceed to show them the joys of that fruit. Her goals in life are basic as a filly: have fun and make friends. Though she doesn’t have an idea of her future, she imagines herself as a farmer, maybe even the best fruit farmer in Canterlot, providing fresh fruit to even the Princesses. But for now Watermelon Gush is content with being her cute sweet self!
