Species: Crystal pony

Eye Colour: Purple like Amethyst

Coat: A crystalline white pelt like diamonds which appears like a rainbow when reflected in the light.

Mane/Tail: a tricolour of translucent crystalline red, green, and blue, like a ruby emerald, and sapphire respectively.

Physique: Precious Stone is not the most athletic stallion but he tries to keep in shape.

Residence: Crystal Empire. He was originally from the Topaz ward but currently resides in the Diamond ward. His business is in the market area and named "Wearable Art."

Occupation: Jeweler and Professional Geologist

Cutie Mark: A Jeweler's Loop, a device like a small telescope used by jewelers to analyze stones crossed with a small shovel. Diamond Cut got his cutie mark due to his fascination with gems. Even since he was a little colt, he marveled at the buildings found within the Crystal Empire that were made of crystallized stone. All those colours and facets that sparkled in the light amazed him and he wanted to learn more about where they came from and how he could share them with others. One day while exploring the outer reaches on the Empire he literally stumbled upon something, tripping over an object in the ground. After getting back on his hooves, the pony saw something white and sparkling on the ground. He knew it was a gem and desired to unearth it. Using his hooves, the colt began to dig deeper into the ground, revealing more of the stone as it grew bigger with each hoof full of dirt removed. Finally the colt was able to heft the diamond, which was now the size of his head, and roll it back home. Even though he now had the gem, it was raw and too big to share with others. So he decided to take it to a jeweler where the gem was broken apart and where learned how to artfully cut each stone into a different size and style of gem. When he was finished learning and crafting, he had not one big gem but dozens of small beautiful diamonds that ponies proudly wore on necklaces, bracelets, and other jewelry. But the biggest joy he received was when his cutie mark appeared.

History: Precious Stone was born in the Topaz district to two loving parents. His father was an architect and his mother a doctor. He was always a curious colt, always willing to learn about the world around him. This came from reading adventure stories where the hero would explore strange and dangerous lands and find lost treasure. Part of him dreamed that one day when was older he would explore beyond the borders of the Empire. For his time as a colt though, he was content with exploring around the city. He was especially fascinated with the way the crystalline houses and buildings were built and cut with its different facets like a large gem. This especially came from his father who helped design some of the houses. This interest sparked the idea that maybe there were big gems in the ground that he could find.

Upon gaining his cutie mark, Diamond apprenticed at a local rock and jewelry shop where he learned the various types of crystals, gems, and metals, how to cut rough stones into more beautiful designs, and how to transform them into wearable art with jewelry. A few years later, the owner of the store retired and left the operation of the store to Diamond who gladly accepted it. Even though he was now a business owner, he never forgot his roots and would explore the Empire for new stones to convert to gems in his shop.

After being lost to time due to the curse of King Sombra and the Crystal Empire and being restored, Diamond Cut hoped to start again where he left off by helping to explore and sell his wares in his store.

Character Summary:

Diamond Cut is an adventurous pony, always interested in reading and discovering new things. He is not afraid to be hooves on when exploring, especially when it comes to digging for metals or gems for his jewelry. His thrill of exploration is heightened when a pony from another land visits his shop in which he likes to hear about tales from far away places and exotic locations.

Diamond Cut has a fancy for gems , which he sometimes calls "shinies", and through his jewelry making business loves to share his passion. He has an eye for beauty and a talent to craft gems into the perfect cut and make them into wearable art like necklaces, chokers, bracelets, headpieces, mane and tail bands, and other ideas. He also loves to take old or unwanted jewelry and make it new or to refurbish any broken jewelry a pony has. Beyond his expertise in making jewelry, diamond is a savvy businesspony but fair to his customers. He is also great at communicating with others, making them feel right at home in his shop while showing his wares. In his words, "Every piece of jewelry has a story," and he is proud to tell the stories behind his art.

Aside from his business and his love of exploration, Diamond Cut likes the outdoors, art in all forms, socializing with ponies, and his weakness which is Crystal Berry Jam. With the reappearance of the Empire, Diamond hopes to attract ponies from beyond the borders of the Empire and to perhaps one day see the other cities and other ponies in his travels.
