Garden Gait - The Quiet and Beautiful Village of Flowers

Garden Gait is oftentimes described as the most remarkable village in the Solstice Heights that nopony has ever heard of. Hidden in one of the glacier valleys at the southern edge of the region, Garden Gait plays host to a tightly-knit farming community bordered on the east by an abandoned overgrown stone wall. From the village, ponies can glimpse some of the most remarkable landscapes in the land of Equestria.

The bygone glacier that carved out the area Garden Gait resides in left behind a narrow valley enclosed by steep precipices. Several streams from the mountains plummet off the cliffs down into the gorge below, ensuring that the hum of waterfalls is constantly heard in Garden Gait. Thanks to the old East Road which goes through the village, it’s possible for most ponies to easily climb up for a scenic vista of the entire valley and a glimpse of Canterlot off in the distance.

The aforementioned East Road used to function as the main link between Canterlot and the merchant mecca of Roam off beyond the Eponnine Mountains. Garden Gait itself used to be a much larger town made up of stone buildings, serving as an important stop on this overland route. The gatehouse and wall immediately east of the town are even older, a remnant of a past millennia when Equestria’s borders didn’t extend beyond the Whitetail Wood. To welcome travelers a taste of the beauty Equestria’s Heartland had to offer, the town residents planted a huge sea of flowers outside the gatehouse; hence the name ‘Garden Gait’.

But the tides of change left Garden Gait out to dry when the coming of the railroad left the East Road obsolete as a major trade artery. The village nowadays is nothing more than a collection of humble cottages, dugouts, and a few large half-timbered buildings; most of the prior stone buildings having been torn down years ago. Farming now is the chief concern of those who reside here, which among their number include a small deer population not as inclined towards forest life as their Whitetail Wood brethren. Nearly all who live in Garden Gait however share a serene disposition, aided in part by the serenity and beauty of the valley itself. While little traces of the past remain, the flower fields beyond the vine-infested wall linger on for everypony to enjoy.....
