Mti Nguvu - The Mystic Tree City

There is hardly any place in the wide, wide world that comes close to resembling the near-mystical Mti Nguvu. Hidden within an outlying finger of the ominous Brakenweald, Mti Nguvu is built entirely within the enormous trees of the rainforest. Due to the otherworldly nature of this place among other reasons, the jungle city-state is universally considered the heart of zebradom in Unyasi.

Mti Nguvu itself is not an extravagant place; the wooden huts, pathways, and stairs that wrap around the trunks of the titanic trees were designed for comfort and ease of use instead of displaying wealth. The only ways in or out of the city require use of retractable rope-ladders or basket pulleys. This is very useful in minimizing harm from dangerous predators on the jungle floor without having to vigorously keep them away. To get from tree to tree, the resident zebras opt to swing from ropes in lieu of fabricating potentially unsightly bridges.

It sometimes seems unfathomable why the residents of Mti Nguvu would choose to live within such an unforgiving place like the Brakenweald. The answers to this riddle grow all over the jungle floor; medicinal herbs, exotic spices, and magical fruit that cannot be cultivated via agricultural means. Instead, the local zebras venture deeper into the rainforest to find these rare plants, collect them, and then return to the tree city where they can use the ingredients in arcane remedies and hearty recipes. Generations of practicing such alchemy has given the brewers of Mti Nguvu a reputation as the best of the best of potion masters.

It is only natural then for other Unyasian zebras to seek out Mti Nguvu’s wisemares for their ancient knowledge, and eventually for other leaders to find advice and consensus high in the legendary rainforest canopy. Inside the city’s widest tree, one hollowed-out room serves as a council hall large enough for all of Unyasi’s ranking magistrate and tribal chieftains to comfortably sit in. Whenever a gathering is summoned to deliberate on an issue of regional importance, leaders are expected to honor the consensus reached among everyone else. A few may question why to assemble in such an inconvenient island of civilization, but the majority of zebras agree that Mti Nguvu’s identity as a realm infused with a timeless air makes it the unquestioned choice for a center of their civilization.....
