Whitesky then moved her attention to Xanmas. "Recruit." she said. "I recommend not starting anything, or I will throw you off this truck." It sounded like she meant it. She probably did. "I mean it." Yes, she did. Foxx stayed quiet, having been in Manehatten Column long enough not to mess with her. The whole truck stayed quiet. Even the Captain. "Good." she said.

Pyro:

Pyro turned as the cloaked mare began speaking to Xan. Pyro smiled in mild amusement as she threatened to throw the cloaked stallion off the truck. Pyro leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes, though you couldn't see them through his sunglasses. 'That answers that question. She's definitely in charge here. If we're not gonna talk anymore, I might as well get some rest.' Pyro thought, relaxing into his chair.

Xan:

Xan raised a bemused eyebrow at the mare threatening to throw him off the truck. He almost retorted, but decided against it. He didn't want to get kicked out on his first day, especially since he hadn't seen any action yet. Xan simply glared at the other hunter for awhile, eventually turning away and watching the surroundings. Xan really didn't care if the mare threw him off the truck, he could just follow from the air, but he wanted to kill something, and the only way to do that without fear of retribution from the city was to be a guardian. Guardians could kill as many enemies of the city as they wanted, and boy did Xan want to kill some.

"Are you trying to play smug with me, Recruit?" Whitesky sneered at Xan, instantly, almost reading his thoughts. It was as if a psychic tendril probed into Xanmas' mind. She knew. He wanted blood. "Your attitude needs a little changing. Bravado like that is going to get you killed." She didn't like the new Hunter. The Captain sighed, interrupting his Warlock from saying anything further.

"Enough." He said. "Whitesky, go a bit easier on the Recruits, no matter how much you dislike them. And you, soldier. We're not out to wage war. We're called Guardians for a reason."

Xan:

Xan calmly looked back over to the unicorn as she talked more to him. "Not if you have the skill to back it up." Xan stated, looking back at the surroundings. Xan smiled slightly as the captain told the mare to stop. Xan didn't look back at the captain as he addressed Xan, he just kept staring out at the surroundings as they passed by. "And here I thought hunters were supposed to hunt things." Xan mumbled sarcastically before sighing quietly. "I wasn't looking for war. Assassination jobs would be fine with me." Xan mumbled even quieter, so quiet that it was almost inaudible to his own ears. Xan wanted to kill something, but that didn't mean he wanted war. War had too much chaos for him to aim his guns properly. Xan liked to use one shot per target, but war made that difficult since all the targets were moving and fighting others. Xan preferred small jobs, like going in to kill a small camp or even a single target. They were easy, and since the targets weren't already engaged, they presented easy targets for Xan to fire at. Not that he couldn't kill a moving target, he just preferred to do surprise attacks, catching the enemy unawares and dispatching them before they have a chance to do much, if anything at all in return. That's why he was trained so much in stealth and marksmanship, so he could take others by surprise and kill them quickly.

Whitesky sneered at Xan, giving him a soul-piercing glare. Her eyes were like ice. Something seemed to tick in the new Hunter's head. If he already didn't figure it out, the mare was psychic. Her psychic tendrils probed deeper into the dark recesses of his mind, trying to figure out how he thought. She succeeded, but was disgusted at what she found. "You egotistical maniac." she said. "Your kind doesn't deserve to be in the Guardians. I can shoot you dead right now, and it won't matter to anypo--"

"SPARKLE. STOP THAT." Captain Stark yelled, barely overpowering the loud rumble of the military trucks. "You're way out of line." All the passengers went quiet. "If you don't lock that attitude up, you'll be changeling-food." He took a sweeping glance at all the other passengers. "The same goes for all of you. You're soldiers, start acting like them."

"Y'know, Lieutenant Sparkle and the Cap'n have been at it for a while. Ten bits says they're into each other." Tracer Foxx whispered, scooching up to Winter Rose. "The name's Tracer Foxx, but you might already know that."

Pyro:

Pyro had simply been trying to ignore what was going on so he could sleep, but it wasn't working well. He listened to the conversation going on between Xan, the captain, and the mare. He sighed inwardly as he sat there, opening his eyes when the captain said they should all start acting like soldiers. 'What was I doing wrong? I'm just trying to get some rest.' Pyro thought, looking at the captain. He snorted out a laugh at what Tracer said to Winter. "That's all? Just 10?" Pyro said, turning his head towards Tracer before introducing himself. "I'm Pyro Blaze." He said to the hunter.

Xan:

Xan looked off into the distance and started to feel tendrils sifting through his thoughts. He growled, instantly figuring out where the feeling was coming from. "Witch." Xan said softly, before the mare started speaking about killing him. 'I would like to see you try, Sparkle.' Xan thought, knowing the mare could read it. He ignored Tracer and Pyro as they spoke and instead focused his glare on Sparkle for a second or two before turning to look at his surroundings again. He contemplated leaving and going off on his own, but decided against it, so he just stayed where he was on the truck.

That was it. Whitesky got up, the cold steel barrel of her submachine gun pressing up against Xan's forehead. She pulled the primer back[Yes, the SMGs in this have primers], wrapping her hoof around the trigger, itching to add just a bit of pressure, reducing the rookie's head to a red splatter on the truck. Everypony stayed quiet, gritting their teeth as they watched the scene unfold. Was she going to do it? "Woah, woah, woah. Calm down, White. No need to... you know, get messy. Right now." Tracer muttered, placing a hoof on the earth mare's shoulder. Stark gave the veteran Hunter a nod.

"Calm down." the Captain said, a concerned look on his face.

Whitesky Sparkle's breath was heavy, still keeping the gun aimed at Xan's forehead. She eventually lowered the weapon, aiming it at his knee, taking a single shot.

Xan:

Xan barely even reacted as the mare pointed her gun at his head. He had, at some point, pulled out one of his pistols and was aiming it up at the mare's head. He smiled slightly, knowing they were in a stalemate of sorts. Then Tracer intervened, telling Sparkle to calm down. The captain joined in, and Sparkle lowered her gun to his knee. Xan fired at the same time as the mare, but his bullet was headed towards her head. Just before it got there, and just before the other bullet impacted his knee, the bullets impacted against an invisible barrier.

Pyro:

Pyro watched the two go at it, concerned about what they would do to each other. then they both pulled out a gun and aimed them at each other's heads. Pyro watched the stalemate carefully as Tracer and the captain attempted to calm the hooded mare down. When they both fired, Pyro immediately erected magical shields in the path of the bullets, stopping them just before they reached their targets. "Both of you, just stop this before one of you gets hurt." Pyro growled, creating another barrier between the mare and Xan, pushing them away from each other.

Winter was scared out of her mind when the two ponies pulled guns out at each other. She wanted to look away as the pair stared each other down but could, until she heard tracer and the captain try to settle them down. She looked down at her lap not wanting to watched what happened next as the hooded mare pointed the gun at Xan's knee. When she heard the two gunshots she jumped and screamed lightly. 'This is not how a family acts, this was supposed to be like a family for me.' She says in her head pulling her hood back up to hide her face as a single tear fell.

Whitesky glared venomously at Xan, before turning away from him. "Sheesh..." Tracer muttered, crossing his front legs. "I've never seen 'er that mad." he glanced towards Winter, who was slouched over, hiding her face with her hood. "Uh... hey, what's wrong?" the Hunter asked, his tone a hushed, comforting one; very unlike him. 'This is not how a family acts, this was supposed to be like a family for me.' He heard her say. "Don't think of this little group of ours as a family... more like a pack of wolves, or a kingdom, or something." he sighed. "There's still somepony in charge, even if you can't tell who right now."

The convoy of trucks came to a stop by a massive, dead forest. “Here we are.” Captain Stark called out, hopping off the bed of his truck. The other vehicles were quickly unloaded, dozens of ponies clad in armor putting their hooves on the ground. “Rookies; welcome to Point Contact. We’ll be doing a few looks around, see if we can find anything useful. Look for raw materials, like metal, wood, maybe some preserved food. Whatever you find, load it onto your truck. You’ll have plenty of space to sit, unless we find a working starship. Then we’ll have to leave you here.” Several guardians let out a soft chuckle on the last bit.

“You know, I heard that they used to call this little corner of the world ‘Ponyville.’ Not sure why.” Tracer muttered to Winter, whom he helped off the truck. “Watch your step; it’s a long way down.”

Pyro glared at Xan, warning him off of provoking anypony else. Pyro felt he shouldn't need to, but he was prepared to step in when necessary. This truck ride wasn't going very well, in his opinion. Xan had made an enemy within his own squad, and he had seemed like he wanted one. Maybe he just wanted to get to it and was taking it out on his squad mates, maybe it was something else entirely. Either way, Pyro didn't approve. He was anxious to get started too, but he was controlling himself.

Then they arrived, and Pyro jumped off the truck, vaulting the side instead of getting off the back. He listened as the captain spoke, basically saying they were on recon and salvage. He didn't show it, but he was slightly disappointed. He had thought they were going to stave off some attacks, thereby defending the city, not going scavenging. He pushed his disappointment away with a sigh. They would likely get to that eventually, he would just have to wait.

---------------

Xan continued sitting in his spot, watching the scenery pass by. He had gotten caught up in the moment, something very unlike him, and had likely turned Sparkle into an enemy. If he was lucky, she was a very uneasy ally. It's not that he cared about this squad, but it would be a good survival tactic not to make your squad mates into enemies.

When they arrived, he jumped into the air and started flapping his wings, completely bisecting the wait to get off the truck. Pyro had avoided the wait too by jumping off the side of the truck. He landed on the ground and listened as the captain spoke. He frowned to himself as it was revealed that they were here to salvage supplies.

Winter nodded when told to think of it as a wolf pack and took her face from her hooves. When they finally arrive winter gets out of the truck and tries to get down before being helped by trace, one of her hooves slip and she almost falls but thanks to tracer she was safe. "T-thank you tracer." she says in a shy tone as a small but unnoticeable blush forms on her cheeks.

Tracer gave the rookie a short nod, before heading off towards a group of some sort of ancient ruins. "Welcome to Ponyville." he chuckled. "Heard that everything stated here." Tracer sighed, scanning his surroundings. "Alright, there could be some good loot in a few of these buildings." he said. "We should go inside, check things out. Come on, we'll start at that big tree; the one with the structures on it." he pointed to a massive house-tree, which appeared to have a balcony jutting out of the main trunk, one story up. Some kind of library?
